So recently i notice that i dont need two laptops and i enough one (plus GTA VI is coming soon so yeah)

I want to hear ur opinions on it wat should i keep and why.
1. ThinkPad T14 Gen5 (AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 8840U 32GB DDR5)
2. MacBook Air M4 16 256

I like both but its really hard to choose
Macbook has awesome battery life and performance
ThinkPad has free bootloader so i can choose what to boot up and awesome repairability.

I can get the M5 MacBook Air with 24GB RAM for $1,275 before tax. Should I buy it now or wait for Black Friday? Is it realistic to get an M4 with 24GB RAM for significantly less, and would the savings be worth choosing the older model?

Hi! Would love some advice from this group. I received a new (sealed in box) 2019 13-inch MBP. (Not sure what options they came with at that time; looks like 8GB/512GB if that matters for this question.) I do need a new laptop, but wasn't sure if it was more advisable to go ahead and use this (knowing it's a bit older and also unsure how long Apple will support the OS for) or try to sell it and buy a new one (probably with lesser specs, but I have no idea how much it might be worth). Appreciate any guidance folks might have - I'm out of my depth here!

I’m in the UK so the MacBook Air doesn’t come with a charger but the Apple one being £59 is VERY expensive, what chargers are good for the MacBook that are much cheaper? Whilst I’m waiting for that will my regular USB C adapters be sufficient or will it brick my battery?

Hello everyone, I just wanted to state that I have decided that I'm going to go to best buy tomorrow and get a MacBook Neo as I cannot justify getting a refurbished a m1 Macbook as I cannot justify getting something that may only have a couple more months of software updates (apples updates are usually: 5-6 years), and having something refurbished that could not be in the best condition or have poor battery life, and the M2 and M3 are only slightly cheaper at best and more expensive at most, I just hope that I can last me the rest of high school and college (around 5 years) sense it'll be a high quality laptop I believe, I just can't justify getting something refurbished that may not be the best quality or bad battery life plus the software update situation, and I have around $350 in cash so I won't have to make a big dent in my savings, thank you.

It's my first macbook, my budget is 1300 euros max, and I will use it for programming as a student and for future jobs mainly, maybe some virtualization as well (i am aware that there's some issues with it yes), my main idea was to get a laptop that lasts me for some years and also, one that I can carry and work on easily when I'm outside or overseas for long periods of time, for the price range I saw some good deals which were:

-M1 macbook pro 14 or 16 32gb 1tb around 1200-1400 euros (with battery at less than 90% most of the time)

-M2 macbook air 13 24gb 1tb for around 1000-1100 euros

-M3 macbook air 13 24gb 1tb for around 1200-1300 euros (the 512gb version can be found for 1000 euros approx)

-M5 macbook air 13 16gb 512gb for 1300 euros brand new (without charger or accesories)

I havent been looking for the M1 air 13 cause I heard the 13 inch screen is a bit smaller than newer models and if I get a 13 inch laptop I would like it to have at least very big screen state, and 15 inch would perhaps be a bit too much to constantly carry it around when you're outside.

Does anyone know of retailers offering particularly good discounts, including smaller authorized resellers?

I’m not interested in refurbished, open-box, or used models.

Also, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday approaching, would you recommend waiting or buying now?

I've a MacBook M1 air (8gb ram,256 storage) looking to upgrade.
The main reason is I've started coding and wanred to run 2+ vscode windows 5+ claude code sessions all while operating Arc browser and probably watching OTT.

what should be my ideal upgrade M4 Pro or M5 Air?
or should i go for any of the latest chips with more RAM.

Due to water damage, is this fixable? It is on both sides of my screen.

I built Aman Check, a free and open source Mac app made for regular people, not for techs or enthusiasts. If you're about to buy a used Mac, or you just want to know what state yours is in, you probably don't know what to look at. The app does the checking for you and explains the results in plain words.

It shows the battery health and cycle count, how many hours the disk has been running, and whether the Mac is locked: Activation Lock, company management (MDM), or an Apple Account still signed in. Then it walks you through quick tests for the screen, keyboard, trackpad, speakers, microphone, camera and ports, one at a time. It won't replace erasing the Mac and checking the setup screen in person, but it tells you exactly what to ask the seller.

If you're the one selling, you can generate a report of the Mac's condition and share it with the buyer.

For a deeper look at the disk itself, there's also Aman Disk, my other app. Think CrystalDiskInfo, but for Mac, and free as well.

Hi guys I recently purchased this 16 inch MacBook M4 pro (about 22 days ago)

I noticed when the lid is closed and I open it up, it opens normally. But while working, when I try to adjust the display backwards, the base lifts up with it, but the hinge doesn’t move and the base automatically drops halfway; after that, the hinge becomes smooth again and I can adjust it normally.

Is there any problem with my Mac’s hinge? Or is it considered normal when the display stays at an angle for a while, so maybe the hinge becomes stiffer?

This is my first MacBook and I have never used any other MacBook so I don’t know guys. Please help me out, I would really appreciate that 🙌

OPTION 2: MacBook Air 13" M5 (2026)

Both plans have no long-term commitment, and the laptops can be replaced if something goes wrong.

MY USAGE:
• Heavy multitasking with lots of browser tabs

I really like the larger 16" display, 120Hz ProMotion and 32GB RAM on the Pro. However, the M5 is significantly newer and has much better single-core performance.

I'm coming from a 2019 Intel MacBook Pro, so either would be a major upgrade.

Would you still choose the older M1 Pro with 32GB RAM in 2026, or is the M5 Air a better choice despite having half the RAM and a smaller display?

I'm particularly interested in real-world performance, responsiveness and multitasking rather than benchmarks.

I just wanted to say I love how the Mute and other playback buttons on the keyboard are full size. It makes daily life so much easier.

Yeah I know other laptops have them, but its usually smaller and not easy to find with my finger or it requires a function keypress.

I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro (2017) with four Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C ports, and I’m experiencing a strange issue.
Until last week, all four ports were working perfectly. On Monday, I tried charging my MacBook using a USB-C charger from an HP convertible laptop (the kind with a 360-degree folding screen).
After using this charger, both USB-C ports on the left side stopped working completely. They no longer charge the MacBook or recognize USB devices.
The two ports on the right side have continued working perfectly throughout the entire situation. They still charge the MacBook and recognize USB devices normally.

Need to update my 2010 MacBook Air. I don’t code or anything yet, but I do use AI chat bots on the cloud quite regularly. Any advice on these two chips or advice if I can get the M4 Pro with some more RAM over 16 GB? Any advice is appreciated.

Basically what the title says. Both of them are 16”. But if given the choice between the two (each one is looking for a trade, but for the sake of argument, let’s just pretend they’re the same price) which one is the better choice? I guess mostly in terms of being “future proof”. My gut says the one with more memory, but I’m not familiar enough with the performance difference between the M1 & M2

I'm planning to buy a MacBook Pro 14" and keep it for at least 3+ years. I want a smooth, fast, and completely lag-free experience, but I'm torn between configurations and RAM options.

My daily workflow consists of:

Multiple chrome tabs open at all times.

Background apps: Discord, Spotify, Notion, Anki, multiple PDF readers, etc.

Just a little Indie games like Stardew Valley, Factorio, MInecraft

My main questions:

Is 16 GB enough to keep this entire workflow completely smooth without memory pressure issues for 3+ years, or should I definitely push for 24 GB for future-proofing?

Is there any noticeable real world speed difference between m4 or m5 for my specific use case?
