Promotion Wreckfest Meets Twisted Metal! After 2 years of solo development, my realistic combat racing game demo is on Steam Next Fest!

• Upvotes

Hey r/indiegames!

I am a solo developer currently working on DIVEBOMB: Weaponized Racing. It is a combat racing game where realistic driving meets weaponized vehicular combat. Basically like Wreckfest meets Twisted Metal. You may also feel some touches of Blur and Split Second in terms of art style.

The game has realtime car deformation on crashes, and includes deep customization where every combat upgrade (from armors and chassis reinforcements to weapons and traps) has weight and balance implications which means there is always a compromise between pace and combat ability.

DIVEBOMB's demo is playable for Steam Next Fest starting today! If realistic driving physics mixed with vehicular combat sounds like your thing, I'd love for you to try it and tell me what you think.

Play The Demo on Steam

WHAT IS IN THE DEMO?

  • Full realtime car deformation.
  • 3 different cars with very different driving characteristics.
  • 4 different weapons, 3 different traps, ballistic armors, chassis reinforcements, car tuning and visual customization.
  • 4 environments with different terrains and multiple courses from an abandoned racetrack, dystopion urban environment to an active aerospaceport.
  • Competitive NPC's and difficulty presets with physical driving assists for casual players and experienced racers alike.
  • Dynamic hazards ranging from small traffic to large trucks and even taxiing, landing and taking off airplanes.

If you enjoy racing games with challenging physics and a healthy dose of vehicular destruction, I'd love to hear what you think!

I have a Discord Server setup for any feedback, ideas or just to chat!

Upcoming Jiri Kara Simulator a new boomer shooter set in Prague in the year 2000

Jiri Kara Simulator is a retro FPS about the worst morning after of the year 2000. about the worst morning after of the year 2000.

You’re the groom. You wake up in a dumpster in Prague with no memory, a brutal hangover and no bride. To get her back, you fight your way through six districts of the city, each run by its own local kingpin.

No guns, just bottles, pipes, barstools and whatever else you can get your hands on.

Every enemy is a real person. We filmed actual characters from the Czech underground and turned them into digitized sprites, Mortal Kombat style, then dropped them into a low-poly Prague.

There’s a drunkenness meter. Beer helps. Until it doesn’t.

It’s dark, stupid and very Czech.

PC — March 2027. Demo at Steam Next Fest in February.

No generative AI. Everything was filmed, modeled or painted by people.

Devlog After collecting issues for several months, I made significant changes to my game

• Upvotes

Hello everyone, I'm here to share my development work in recent months.I am currently developing a game called Chaos Rune: Heroes. You can search for it on Steam, but it might not be a satisfactory game.

Start my sharing:

  • Make a demo as soon as possible, because you may not have fully determined your game during the demo production period. The demo can gather players' understanding of your game, allowing you to have a clear path for future planning.
  • After the demo was released, the feedback on my game was not overwhelmingly positive. At this point, it will affect your enthusiasm for development. As a result, the snowball effect gets worse and worse, and at this point, you need to stop development. Try doing other things to regain enthusiasm for game development.
  • Don't trust your intuition, because it's 95% wrong.
  • The major changes I made to the gameplay mode of my game. Don't blindly pursue the currently popular game genres. Carefully re-examine your project and determine the positioning of the game. At that time, I blindly pursued the popular game genres of the moment, which resulted in the project failing to showcase its own charm. Now I have positioned my game as a numerical action game.
  • In the past few months, I have been using the mid-range anchor method to design game difficulty. I start designing the difficulty of the game from the mid-game stage, which makes the game difficulty curve relatively smooth. Perform subtraction before the anchor point and perform addition after it.

Need Feedback My demo trailer (feedback please)

I tried going for a 28-years later inspired trailer. I looked up old recordings of sermons and I found a sermon by William Booth from the early 1900s.

It fit the theme I wanted to communicate so well so I designed the trailer around it .

I made deliberate decisions, like at the end of the trailer where he says "this is the man, this is the woman, who saved me" I left the screen black so it would be you staring back at yourself so it reads like YOU are the one that will save the survivors. I'm not sure if most people will pick this up though.

I also realise you have no context about my game and I think that's also something I'd like to know - could you tell from the trailer what kind of game this is?

I am not a video editor at all and I would really love any feedback you might have on how to improve the trailer.

Video Blight Runners

Hey!

We're a small team based in Tokyo working on our first Unreal title, Blight Runners, a post-apocalyptic survival and exploration game set in oxygen deprived environment.
Maybe it would be the easiest to explain the core of the game as a mix of Death Stranding and Zelda, with a lot of story, and a big open-world to explore.

We recently showcased a short playable demo Tokyo Game Show.

The release is still quite far away, currently planned for late 2027, but we'd love to start introducing the game to more players and get some initial impressions, feedback.

If you're interested or have any questions about the game, feel free to ask! We'd be happy to discuss it.

Upcoming After years of dreaming, I'm finally making the game of my heart - a shamanic action-platformer rooted in Siberian culture

I'm Eugene, an indie game developer, and for a very long time I've had one big dream: to make an atmospheric game that shows the world the culture of Siberia. Last week I finally released the Steam page for it.

The game is called Cradle of Winter.

Here's my short pitch:

Cradle of Winter is an atmospheric action-platformer about a young shaman walking through a world where humans, spirits and ancient legends intertwine. Explore an endless northern taiga, fight dark spirits and demons, craft amulets, and master the power of the shaman drum.

You play as Iniro Kotsen, a young hunter chosen by the spirits to walk the shaman's path. The Mother Goddess has been cast out of the sky, the World Tree is shaken, and the old order is breaking - creatures that existed only in legend are now pouring into the land. To restore balance, Iniro must find the ancient Cradle.

What I really want to capture is the culture of the Khanty and Mansi peoples - not as exotic decoration, but as something alive: rituals, myths, the drum, the songs, the everyday spiritual world of the North. Siberia is rarely shown in games the way it actually is. Cradle of Winter is my attempt to fix that.

A bit of backstory:

Production took me about a year, after another year of preparation. And I did it while raising two kids.

I'll be honest. I'm a pretty risk-averse person. I like my safe space. But this time something felt different. I was raising two kids, and every night after they fell asleep I sat down to build a world out of forest, spirits and old songs. And one thought kept coming back: now or never. In Siberia they say the taiga doesn't wait - you either move with it or it buries you. So I moved. I still can't fully believe it.

That's my story

Video Procedural generation in my real time tactics game Phosphor Command

• Upvotes

I've been working on a game called Phosphor Command, a real-time tactics game with a base builder behind it.

This post is about how the game generates the operations you send squads on.

A contract tells you which map type you're going to, but the environment itself is generated when you deploy.

Each map has its own rules for generation. Maps are generated in layers. Big objects first and the details after. For example on the alpine pass; the generation starts biggest with two rock walls with a gap through each, then a deep gorge with a few bridges across it, and then woods and rocks.

Once the map is built, the procedural generation checks that troops can reach all parts of the map. If some environment generation has sealed off a pocket of the map the generator will create a tunnel through, so there's always a way in.

Objectives and exfil need to always be accessible. The objective sites are spread out and kept well apart, and exfil usually goes on the edge, as far from them as it can be, to create difficulty.

The enemy force is placed in a similar manner. Each difficulty has a range of hostiles and affects generation. Guards hold the objectives, and other troops go out on patrol.

Operations that you can select are randomised as well. If you don't like what's on offer, you can spend a reroll to draw a new one.

I've attached a showcase that shows the alpine pass being built layer by layer and a few of the other maps.

I’ve polished up my game that combines a visual novel with a raising sim!

The main language is Japanese, but it now has basic support for other languages too.

To everyone overseas — please give it a try!

It takes about 1.5–2 hours to play.

Free download here

⚠️ This game has a gloomy, oppressive atmosphere, and there are no happy endings.

If you’re sensitive to dark themes or depictions of illness, please be careful.

Promotion Incremental game with roguelike elements. I created all the visuals for the CHILL ROGUES!

• Upvotes

Chill rogues gameplay trailer

Trailer inside the post :з

Hi everynyan, Dehyd here! I’m a 2D artist, and I’m in charge of the visuals for the indie game "CHILL ROGUES" – a fantasy incremental game with roguelike elements.

For the demo, I created all the graphical assets: from the overall visual style and isometric environments to the characters, enemies, props, UI, VFX, and animations. Jack of all trades!

The game’s visual style combines isometric environments with stylish characters. My primary visual influences include "Don’t Starve", "The Binding of Isaac", and "Cult of the Lamb". By the way, my main goal was to create a look for our project that’s both сute, interesting and catchy. You can say that I’ve poured a piece of my soul into this project.

Finding a style that was both cool and fast to produce was quite a challenge. The demo alone features 6 levels, 10 unique monsters, and two bosses! A lot of work has already been done, but there’s still plenty more to come.

In future posts, I’ll be happy to share more about my process –  but in other subreddits, since this one isn't about development. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Steam Next Fest I'm making a narrative adventure with a dreamcore atmosphere, which is heavily inspired by To The Moon and Undertale

Hi! I’m the solo developer of The Wind and The Snow, a story-driven narrative adventure game that I’ve been working on for the past few years, and it is heavily inspired by To The Moon and Undertale.

You play as Wilder, who enters a mysterious snowbound dream to carry out an important mission — but the moment he arrives, he loses his memory. As you explore the dream, you gradually piece together what you came here to do, meet strange characters, and uncover fragments of the story.

The demo is now playable for the Steam Next Fest, here's the link!

Upcoming Skyreap – start with a lone tree on a floating island, end up ruling the sky with an army of golems. Played only with your cursor

Skyreap is a cozy automation game set in a country of floating islands 🏝️

you start with almost nothing: a tiny island, a few trees, and your cursor. at first you chop everything by hand, but soon you're summoning golems that mine and gather resources on their own, and setting up logistics so resources flow between your chests without you lifting a finger.

when your island gets too small, you build a port and a flying ship, sail off to new islands with new resources, and link them all into one big economy. the goal: turn your little hut into a palace and become the king of the floating islands.

there's no character to steer. you play entirely with your cursor, just click anywhere on the world, and even your inventory lives right on it.

the art is all hand-drawn.

free demo, playable in the browser or on Windows:

https://entin-games.itch.io/skyreap

it can take around 2 hours to get through. would love to hear what you think!
