Ask r/Ghana MTN FIBER ROUTER IS NOT WORKING
Is anyone experiencing a problem with their fiber routers? The lights blink green but there is no internet connection after connecting to the Wi-Fi. I have been told this is a problem originating from MTN's side. I called for assistance about 36 hours ago but I have not received a visit from the technicians. Can someone confirm for me what is actually going on?

Ask r/Ghana Please does anyone know the language Daasebre Gyamenah used in Ohia nam enyono?
Lyric video here:

The language that is unknown to me begins from 3:58
I always thought it was Ga but I once showed a Ga person and they couldn't recognise it. I also heard on some radio show that it wasn't Ga but they didn't mention what language it is.
Please can anyone help? I've been wanting to know for ages but only realised to ask Reddit just now.
Is it Dangme?

Discussion Let’s not forget that Ghana is a willing and active participant in torture
Don’t forget that our country by accepting and measure if benefit — monetary or visa allocation— and participation in unlawful ICE deportations and dehumanization is complicit to torture.
Now we understand how slave trade happened. Caucasians didn’t have guns to our heads to trade our neighbors. It is the same greed that exist today

Ask r/Ghana How to deal with a sneaky and difficult family head(abusua panyin)
Recently me and my siblings have been planning my Mom's funeral. And we've been doing this with the help of her siblings and a few of my cousins. However with time it has become more and more apparent that my uncle(family head) is ready to go to every length to use this funeral to cash out and this has been his plan from the jump. From inflating the price of items, to not informing us when he is doing something, making secret deals with people we hire for their services by persuading them to do job for free or less money so can get the remainder and an almost successful attempt to trick us into not putting down a deposit payment for the venue of the funeral. We even suspect he stole one week donations .My Aunties and cousins are aware of this but they want no problems with him so they are trying to be diplomatic with him.We have tried to suggest that we take my uncle off the funeral planning as much as possible unofficially or change the location of the funeral but they woulld not agree because it may destroy their relationship with him.We have also been warned by them that if we are not careful and we cross him he could lead us to a trap , make us pay a fine or even do black magic on us. The funny thing is that he and my Mom were thick as thieves so this level of betrayal was unexpected.I am also convinced that based on his behaviour he is going to have more tricks up his sleeves and even disrupt my Mum's funeral. I wish me and my siblings could jump him or get some boys to rough him up so he can stop with the antics. What would you do if you were in my situation?

Serious Replies Only Bringing Ghana to life through pyrography
galleryHi all, I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is a passionate art student at UEW looking for advice on how to put his art out there for art enthusiasts and potential pricing. The images above are some samples of his art. These three are original pyrography art he did himself using fire on wood
What do you think of his art? Do you have any recommendations for local galleries, art exhibitions, or artisanal markets in Ghana where he could display his work?
Any form of advice is greatly appreciated 👍🏽

Ask r/Ghana Cars on jiji
Have you or anyone you know used jiji for a car purchase, and if so how was the experience?
Are sellers trustworthy, especially concerning the status (e.g accident, transmission issues) of the vehicles?

Ask r/Ghana Looking for a solid boxing gym recommendations
Hey everyone, I’m trying to get into boxing and looking for a good gym to start training. I want a place that actually teaches proper technique and fundamentals rather than just a cardio-only fitness class. For anyone who has gone through this hunt, what should I be looking out for when checking out local spots? Also, how do you usually tell the difference between a legit boxing club and a commercial fitness-boxing gym? Appreciate any tips or red flags to avoid!

News Petrol, diesel prices set to fall from Oct. 16 as LPG faces 18.5% hike.
myjoyonline.comPetrol is projected to decline by almost 2% to GH¢17.67 per litre, while diesel could fall by 3.32% to GH¢19.30 per litre.
LPG is also expected to rise by 18.5% to GH¢20.60 per kilogram.
During the October 1 pricing window, most oil marketing companies maintained their prices following a GH¢2 levy on diesel and a government intervention in which Tema Oil Refinery and Sentuo Oil supplied refined products to the companies at previous prices.
The Chamber attributed the projected adjustments to developments on the international market and recent government subsidy measures.
In its report, the Chamber said average crude oil prices rose by 2.03% to US$126.73 per barrel for the October 16 pricing window.

Discussion Vendors on pavements
What if the key to this problem is not to remove them from the pavements. Cause, we already know they're gonna come back.
The key would be to sanction the ppl that patronise these particular vendors. For instance, anyone caught buying from them either face a hefty fine.
Essentially, if there is no demand, i dont know who would want to stay there.

Casual (Just for Fun) Ghanaians, what are your thoughts on beans ?
I'm on a mission to go around and ask each country subreddit what people think about beans (my favorite meal!), just to see how people like or dislike them all around the world out of curiosity and for fun. If you like beans, hate them, they are a big part of the culture, anything else, just share your thoughts! 🫘
A little birdie in the Cote D'Ivoire post told me it would be a fun time to ask you bunch this question, as you have the Waakye and Gobe! So tell me about them beans if you may, dear Ghanaians :D

Visiting Ghana Trip with HS students from US
Hello!
I am bringing a group of high school students to Accra in January. There are 15 people total (12 students, 3 adults).
I am mostly struggling to find accommodation that is suitable for our group.
We've looked into hostels but a lot specify that guests need to be 18+
For both safety and financial purposes, we typically want queen beds per room if we go the traditional hotel route so we can put 4 students in each room. (Girls and boys have separate rooms of course). However a lot of recommended hotels seems to just cap out at a single king bed. Further, I'd ideally want them to experience Ghana more intimately instead of a chain hotel. Not opposed to a chain if there's a good option though!
We are struggling where to "home base". I've traveled to about 40 countries, but this is my first time anywhere in Sub Saharan Africa and my first time taking students on a trip of this magnitude. A lot of the neighborhoods feel amazing, but I just can't seem to commit to one that allows us the most flexibility. Ideally, I want somewhere we can walk around as the logistics of frequently going in and out of Accra with that many people just becomes more strenuous.
Any and all recommendations into places to check out would be amazing. If you have had students stay in a place and have experience, that'd be even better!
Thanks a ton in advance. I'm very excited for this trip and the impact it will have on my students and myself.
Note for any travel guides: we are a small HS and don't charge students to go on these trips. We cover flights and hotels and everything and make it part of the curriculum. Because of this, we are on quite a tight budget. I definitely am willing to potentially work with you, but I don't want to waste your time or undervalue your work. For the most part the planning falls on me, and single event guided tours of locations are about all we can afford to book rather than a person who arranges the entire trip for us. Thanks in advance, I appreciate the work you do to educate people on your beautiful country.

Venting Ghana must do better when it comes to mental health !
Mental health is not a joke. It is not something to laugh at, dismiss, or brush aside as if it doesn’t matter. Too often, people who are struggling emotionally or mentally are told to pray harder, stop overthinking, or simply be strong. While faith can be a source of comfort, people also need understanding, support, and professional help without being judged or shamed.
And to Ghanaian parents, please listen to your children. Your child should not have to suffer in silence because they are afraid of how you will react. Not every struggle is disrespect, laziness, stubbornness, or a lack of gratitude. Sometimes, your child is hurting in ways they cannot even explain. Sometimes, they are crying out for help without knowing how to ask for it.
Create a home where your children feel safe enough to speak about their feelings without fear of being insulted, compared to others, dismissed, or told that other people have it worse. You may not always understand what they are going through, but you can choose to listen, show compassion, and take their pain seriously.
We cannot keep losing people to struggles we refuse to acknowledge. We cannot continue to stigmatize mental illness and then wonder why people suffer in silence.
Ghana must do better. We need more mental health awareness, accessible professional support, and a society that treats mental health with the same seriousness as physical health.
Let’s stop making jokes about people’s struggles. Let’s stop shaming people for asking for help. And let’s teach our children that their feelings matter, their voices deserve to be heard, and they do not have to suffer in silence.
You never know what someone is battling behind closed doors. Choose compassion. Listen. Take mental health seriously. 🇬🇭❤️
