Discussion - ATTENTION: READ ME - Job Board: Rules & Guidelines
Scroll down to see the job board rules under the existing updates
----
UPDATE 2022-09-13
ATTENTION ALL ARTISTS AND ASSET SELLERS/GAME PROMOTERS. This is a job board for those looking for work in the game industry or posting jobs related to the game industry. THIS IS NOT Starving Artists (reddit.com) or UnityAssets - Share Unity Assets! (reddit.com) or a community to try and sell five more units of your indie game.
Starting now, BANS will begin to be issued to those who decide to make posts that do not belong on this job board. However, to be clear, we allow portfolio discussion and topics asking questions about work in the industry. They are rare but appear occasionally, and I do not want to discourage those people from posting.
We've been patient enough with what has been happening the past few months, so I will take the time out of my day to ban people instead of quickly removing topics. I won't even think about asset promoters and those trying to sell their game; I'll do it. Artists, we are not asking much from you—just minimal effort to label what you are trying to sell in a manner that relates to games. Keeping the same title from your post in r/starvingartists is not acceptable, and if you test my patience, I will remove you entirely from the job board and not feel guilty about it. If you cannot read and follow basic instructions for a job board, how can a client trust you to follow the instructions they provide?
For everyone's sanity (more so mine since I deal with the bulk of reports these days), follow the rules of our job board.
Please continue to report topics you see that violate our rules. However, be patient with me, I don't get the chance to check reports on my PC every day, and mobile notifications for reports can often show up days later.
- Examples of topic names for artists to follow & avoid -
Good:
[FOR HIRE] Illustrator and concept artist - fantasy, sci-fi, characters, environments
[For Hire] 2D artist/illustrator/Character and prop design
Bad:
[FOR HIRE] 2D Artist available for work (starting at 30$): illustrations, icons, portraits, and more! More info in the comments!
[FOR HIRE] - Commissions are open - DM for more info!
------
Hello everyone,
I believe it is essential to write out (and pin) this information for users so that everyone has a greater chance of understanding how to use this job board efficiently. Now that we've gotten that out of the way let's get started.
Yes, most of this information can be found on the side-bar
----
Rules:
--
- This job board is for PAID work only.
- All REVSHARE projects are being redirected to r/INAT. We will continue to remove these topics and ban anyone who attempts to circumvent this policy.
- NFT projects: This is where things become a little more difficult. r/INAT is enforcing a blanket ban, and for good reason. Having said that, the purpose of r/gameDevClassifieds is to help people find PAID work. We will not remove an NFT project's post if they offer to pay individuals, but if they appear to be trying to pay people in cryptocurrency (often one worth nothing), we will remove their topic.
- Regarding art listings, we will continue to remove listings that we believe do not convey the notion that the artist is looking to generate assets/art for use in video games. This is not the place to post your “character portrait” commissions. All problems may be avoided by simply taking the time to carefully label your topic and not copy/paste the same FOR HIRE ad across many subreddits.
- This job board serves to help people find work and post job opportunities, not to promote games, asset/marketplace packages, or anything else of that nature.
----
Guidelines:
--
- FLAIRS with PAID in the name are intended for use by those hiring, whereas those with FOR HIRE in the name are intended for use by individuals looking for work (you'd be amazed how often I see people get this incorrect).
- While browsing the subreddit, you can click on any given FLAIR to see only posts that use that specific FLAIR.
- Reddit should only ever be one tool in your toolbox (if you get what I mean), as there are other websites, Discord servers, forums, and other resources available to help you find jobs and/or hire. Use all of them
- Details are important. When creating a topic for recruiting or offering services, be descriptive and provide as much information as possible. Provide as many links as you can ex: LinkedIn, portfolio website, ETC (we're sorry if Reddit doesn't allow some links, but that's out of our control)
- Everything should be written as professionally as possible (use spell check)
- For those hiring, research the average salaries/compensation for the roles you need to be filled (by region if you must) and be ready to offer people who approach you fair compensation for their time/skill.
- Before signing any contracts, read them well and ensure that you are absolutely pleased with everything written. Never be afraid to negotiate or demand changes.
- Report topics you believe violate any of our rules or otherwise just don’t belong on a job board
----
We are always open to recommendations on how to enhance this job board. While we appreciate that some projects (NFT/crypto) are controversial, we believe that as long as a job offers genuine compensation, it should be up to you, the user, to decide if that's something worth pursuing.

FOR HIRE - 2D Art + 3D Modeler | Animation [ForHire] Generalist Game Artist (2D and 3D) – 3 Years of Experience
Hello! Nice to meet you! My name is Lunna, and I'm a generalist artist for games and animation, with experience creating visual assets for different stages of development.
My skills include illustration, concept art, low-poly and hard-surface 3D modeling, texturing, and the creation of characters, creatures, monsters, props, and environment assets.
I also create complete game UI systems, including icons and visual components. I'm comfortable adapting to different art directions and working across styles such as pixel art, toon, hand-painted, and more, with themes ranging from fantasy and science fiction to horror.
In addition to my artistic work, I also have experience programming in Unity using C#, including game prototyping.
My most recent professional project was [MECHBORN], where I worked as a 2D Generalist Artist. Due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), I cannot publicly share any of the work I contributed to the project in my portfolio.
The assets featured in this post are from my personal project, and everything shown was created entirely by me, from the initial concepts to the prototyping stage. You can find the full process, including concept development, 3D modeling, texturing, and implementation, in my [ARTSTATION PORTFOLIO].
I'm currently looking for new job opportunities! If you're interested in my work, feel free to contact me via DM or email at [luanna.morais.feitosa404@gmail.com](mailto:luanna.morais.feitosa404@gmail.com).

PAID - Programmer [PAID] [FULLTIME] Senior Multiplayer / Backend Developer – Indie Space MMO Shooter (Unity / FishNet)
Senior Multiplayer / Backend Developer – Indie Space MMO Shooter (Unity / FishNet)
We're an ambitious indie game studio building a multiplayer space MMO shooter combining large-scale space combat, flight physics, FPS gameplay, exploration, and procedurally generated content.
We're looking for an experienced multiplayer/backend developer who understands the technical challenges of building and scaling MMO games. We need someone who can take ownership of server-side development, optimize existing systems, and help us build the infrastructure needed to grow.
This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for someone who has actually worked on multiplayer games, preferably MMOs, and understands how to build systems that work beyond a handful of connected players.
What You'll Be Working On
- Server Architecture & Scaling: Building, optimizing, and scaling multiplayer server infrastructure to support growing player populations.
- MMO Networking: Handling synchronization, replication, server authority, latency, and performance across large multiplayer environments.
- Procedural Generation: Developing systems for procedurally generated space zones, environments, encounters, and persistent content.
- Flight Physics & FPS Systems: Supporting multiplayer spaceship movement, physics, combat, and seamless FPS gameplay with proper network synchronization.
- Server Merging & Zone Management: Developing systems for managing, merging, and transitioning between servers, zones, and player instances.
- Builds & Releases: Managing server builds, deployments, version updates, and new releases.
- Performance Optimization: Identifying bottlenecks, reducing server overhead, and designing scalable solutions.
- Existing Systems: Working within our current codebase, improving existing features, and integrating new functionality without breaking what already works.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience with Unity, C#, and multiplayer game development.
- Previous experience developing MMOs or large-scale online multiplayer games.
- A solid understanding of authoritative servers, networking, synchronization, and multiplayer architecture.
- Experience with networked flight physics, space combat, and FPS mechanics. This is especially important for our project.
- Experience designing procedural generation systems.
- Ability to work with an existing codebase and collaborate with other developers.
- Someone who communicates clearly, follows direction, and executes against established development priorities.
- Someone who can work independently, troubleshoot complex problems, and deliver functional, production-ready solutions.
Huge Bonus: FishNet Experience
We're currently using FishNet for networking. If you've worked extensively with FishNet, that's a major advantage.
Experience with dedicated servers, persistence, matchmaking, instancing, or MMO infrastructure is also valuable.
AI-First Development Mindset — Required
We actively encourage the use of the latest AI models and development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, and problem-solving.
We believe AI-assisted development is a massive advantage for small indie studios competing with larger teams.
If you haven't embraced AI as part of your development workflow, this probably isn't the right opportunity for you.
We're not interested in developers who blindly copy AI-generated code either. We want experienced engineers who know how to use AI effectively, validate its output, and ship better software faster.
How We Work
We're a small indie team, which means everyone has an important role in moving the project forward.
We're looking for someone who:
- Follows direction: Can execute on the established vision rather than constantly trying to reinvent it.
- Takes ownership: Doesn't need to be micromanaged to complete tasks.
- Communicates: Keeps the team informed about progress, roadblocks, and technical concerns.
- Focuses on shipping: Understands that functional releases and measurable progress matter.
- Uses modern tools: Is comfortable adopting new technologies and AI-powered workflows to accelerate development.
We value creativity and technical input, but we also need someone who respects the project's direction and can turn requirements into working features.
How to Apply
Please send a DM with:
- Your multiplayer/MMO development experience and games you've worked on.
- Your experience with Unity, C#, and FishNet.
- Any projects involving networked flight physics, FPS combat, or procedural generation.
- How you're currently using AI in your development workflow.
- Your availability and expected hourly rate.
- Links to your portfolio, GitHub, or shipped projects, if available.
Bonus points if you can show us a multiplayer game you've actually helped ship.
We're building something ambitious and want developers who are excited about tackling the challenges of a persistent online space universe.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.

DISCUSSION | QUESTION Studios: do you put the pay range in the job post, or wait for the interview?
I run godothire.com, a small free board for paid Godot jobs. Every listing there has to be paid, that part is not up for debate. How much, and whether it shows in the post, is up to the studio.
And I keep wondering about that second part. Does a pay range up front get you better applicants, or just more of them? Or do you keep it for the first call?
The board has no opinion on this. It is a website.
Posting there is free, if you're hiring for Godot: https://godothire.com/

PAID - Other [UNPAID] Looking for a 2D Artist to Collaborate on a Dark 2D Game
Hey everyone!
I’m a solo game developer currently working on a 2D game with a dark atmosphere and a strong focus on world-building and unique ideas.
I’m looking for a 2D artist who would like to join me as a creative partner. I handle the programming and game development, while you would focus on the art. We’d work together on ideas and decisions throughout development.
To be transparent, I don’t have a budget to pay for the work right now, so this would be an unpaid collaboration. I’m looking for someone who genuinely likes the idea of building a game together and sharing the creative journey.
If you’re interested, feel free to reach out and share your portfolio. I’d love to see your work and talk about what we could create together!
