Discussion - ATTENTION: READ ME - Job Board: Rules & Guidelines

Scroll down to see the job board rules under the existing updates

----

UPDATE 2022-09-13

ATTENTION ALL ARTISTS AND ASSET SELLERS/GAME PROMOTERS. This is a job board for those looking for work in the game industry or posting jobs related to the game industry. THIS IS NOT Starving Artists (reddit.com) or UnityAssets - Share Unity Assets! (reddit.com) or a community to try and sell five more units of your indie game.

Starting now, BANS will begin to be issued to those who decide to make posts that do not belong on this job board. However, to be clear, we allow portfolio discussion and topics asking questions about work in the industry. They are rare but appear occasionally, and I do not want to discourage those people from posting.

We've been patient enough with what has been happening the past few months, so I will take the time out of my day to ban people instead of quickly removing topics. I won't even think about asset promoters and those trying to sell their game; I'll do it. Artists, we are not asking much from you—just minimal effort to label what you are trying to sell in a manner that relates to games. Keeping the same title from your post in r/starvingartists is not acceptable, and if you test my patience, I will remove you entirely from the job board and not feel guilty about it. If you cannot read and follow basic instructions for a job board, how can a client trust you to follow the instructions they provide?

For everyone's sanity (more so mine since I deal with the bulk of reports these days), follow the rules of our job board.

Please continue to report topics you see that violate our rules. However, be patient with me, I don't get the chance to check reports on my PC every day, and mobile notifications for reports can often show up days later.

- Examples of topic names for artists to follow & avoid -

Good:

[FOR HIRE] Illustrator and concept artist - fantasy, sci-fi, characters, environments

[For Hire] 2D artist/illustrator/Character and prop design

Bad:

[FOR HIRE] 2D Artist available for work (starting at 30$): illustrations, icons, portraits, and more! More info in the comments!

[FOR HIRE] - Commissions are open - DM for more info!

------

Hello everyone,

I believe it is essential to write out (and pin) this information for users so that everyone has a greater chance of understanding how to use this job board efficiently. Now that we've gotten that out of the way let's get started.

Yes, most of this information can be found on the side-bar

----

Rules:

--

  1. This job board is for PAID work only.
  2. All REVSHARE projects are being redirected to r/INAT. We will continue to remove these topics and ban anyone who attempts to circumvent this policy.
  3. NFT projects: This is where things become a little more difficult. r/INAT is enforcing a blanket ban, and for good reason. Having said that, the purpose of r/gameDevClassifieds is to help people find PAID work. We will not remove an NFT project's post if they offer to pay individuals, but if they appear to be trying to pay people in cryptocurrency (often one worth nothing), we will remove their topic.
  4. Regarding art listings, we will continue to remove listings that we believe do not convey the notion that the artist is looking to generate assets/art for use in video games. This is not the place to post your “character portrait” commissions. All problems may be avoided by simply taking the time to carefully label your topic and not copy/paste the same FOR HIRE ad across many subreddits.
  5. This job board serves to help people find work and post job opportunities, not to promote games, asset/marketplace packages, or anything else of that nature.

----

Guidelines:

--

  • FLAIRS with PAID in the name are intended for use by those hiring, whereas those with FOR HIRE in the name are intended for use by individuals looking for work (you'd be amazed how often I see people get this incorrect).
  • While browsing the subreddit, you can click on any given FLAIR to see only posts that use that specific FLAIR.
  • Reddit should only ever be one tool in your toolbox (if you get what I mean), as there are other websites, Discord servers, forums, and other resources available to help you find jobs and/or hire. Use all of them
  • Details are important. When creating a topic for recruiting or offering services, be descriptive and provide as much information as possible. Provide as many links as you can ex: LinkedIn, portfolio website, ETC (we're sorry if Reddit doesn't allow some links, but that's out of our control)
  • Everything should be written as professionally as possible (use spell check)
  • For those hiring, research the average salaries/compensation for the roles you need to be filled (by region if you must) and be ready to offer people who approach you fair compensation for their time/skill.
  • Before signing any contracts, read them well and ensure that you are absolutely pleased with everything written. Never be afraid to negotiate or demand changes.
  • Report topics you believe violate any of our rules or otherwise just don’t belong on a job board

----

We are always open to recommendations on how to enhance this job board. While we appreciate that some projects (NFT/crypto) are controversial, we believe that as long as a job offers genuine compensation, it should be up to you, the user, to decide if that's something worth pursuing.

FOR HIRE - Programmer [FOR HIRE] Looking for my next opportunity as a Unity Developer 🎮

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm a Unity Developer with 7+ years of experience in Unity and C#, currently looking for my next opportunity, whether full-time, remote, contract, or freelance.

Over the years, I've worked on:

  • 3D Gameplay Development: Physics, animation, NPC AI, NavMesh, and complex gameplay systems.
  • Performance Optimization: GPU Instancing, MaterialPropertyBlocks, vertex animation, batching, and object pooling.
  • Custom Tools & Automation: Unity Editor tools, level editors, and procedural level generators that create solvable levels based on difficulty progression curves.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Using AI tools to accelerate prototyping and development while maintaining clean, modular architecture.
  • Mobile Game Development: SDK integrations, analytics, LiveOps, and preparing prototypes for publisher testing.

I also spent a year as Co-Founder of Rimal Games, where we worked on seven games, handled publisher relationships, and took projects from prototype to publisher testing.

Some of our testing results:

  • Crowd Flow: $2.30 CPI, 30% retention, 35 minutes of playtime.
  • Sticker Jam: $1.80 CPI, 21% retention, 15.8 minutes of playtime.

I'm open to opportunities with established studios, mobile game companies, indie teams, or publishers looking for an experienced Unity developer.

If you're hiring, know a team that needs a developer, or are interested in collaborating, I'd love to connect!

DISCUSSION | QUESTION Studios: do you put the pay range in the job post, or wait for the interview?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I run godothire.com, a small free board for paid Godot jobs. Every listing there has to be paid, that part is not up for debate. How much, and whether it shows in the post, is up to the studio.

And I keep wondering about that second part. Does a pay range up front get you better applicants, or just more of them? Or do you keep it for the first call?

The board has no opinion on this. It is a website.

Posting there is free, if you're hiring for Godot: https://godothire.com/

[For Hire] Character rigger needed — 2 humanoid characters with coat/cloak deformation, Godot 4.7, full animation library

Working on an unannounced dark isometric ARPG and need a professional rigger to take two finished 3D character models and deliver fully rigged, weighted, and animated GLBs ready for Godot 4.7.

What we need:
- 2 characters: the protagonist (long trench coat) and a mysterious NPC (long hooded cloak)
- Both need proper humanoid skeletons, skin weights, and clean UV mapping so 4K PBR textures apply correctly
- Protagonist needs a full animation library: idle, walk, run, combat stance, melee attacks (light/heavy), ranged fire/reload, magic cast, hit reaction, death, interact
- NPC needs: idle, turn, and a dialogue gesture
- Trench coat and cloak deformation are the hardest part — looking for someone with cloth/coat experience specifically

What you get:
- Both prototype GLBs with 4K PBR texture sets (albedo, normal, roughness, metalness)
- Full concept art reference sheets for both characters
- Detailed animation spec document
- NDA available if preferred

Tech specs GLB export (glTF 2.0), Mixamo-compatible bone naming, Godot 4.7 Skeleton3D validated

Budget: $300–$600 USD depending on experience and scope. Open to milestone-based payment.

DM with portfolio and quote. Preference for riggers with coat/cloak deformation examples and Godot/Unity/Unreal experience.

FOR HIRE - Writer | Voice Actor [For Hire] Native Japanese Localization & Scenario Writer for Visual Novels (Indie-Friendly Rates, 18+Welcome)

Hi everyone! I’m a native Japanese speaker, professional translator, and scenario writer offering high-quality localization services for your Visual Novels.

If you want your game to read naturally and appeal directly to the Japanese market, I can help. I don't just translate word-for-word; I adapt the nuance, tone, and character voices to make your story truly shine in Japanese.

(A quick note: My main strength is native Japanese writing, so I use translation tools to ensure clear and smooth communication in English with clients. Rest assured, the final Japanese localization is thoroughly polished to feel completely authentic to native players!)

Why choose me?

  • Proven Track Record: I have earned over 1.2 million JPY (approx. $8,000+ USD) taking localization and writing commissions on major Japanese freelance platforms, maintaining a perfect 5-star rating across 35+ projects.
  • Commercial Experience on DLsite: I have contributed to the localization, writing, and editing of top-selling games on DLsite (Japan's largest indie/adult game platform).
  • Mature & 18+ Content Welcome: I am fully comfortable handling mature, adult, and romance-heavy themes. Whether it involves delicate relationship drama, spicy interactions, or explicit adult scenes, I know how to localize mature content authentically so it hits the right notes for Japanese fans.
  • Full Localization & Adaptation: I translate your scripts from scratch into natural, engaging, and culturally resonant Japanese that captures the exact mood of your original work.
  • Romance & Galge Specialist: As a published novelist and scenario writer, I excel at capturing delicate emotional nuances, romantic tension, and witty dialogue essential for narrative-driven games.

Rates & Payment:

  • Indie-Friendly & Flexible: I know indie budgets can be tight. I want to support creators, so my rates are tailored with indie developers in mind and are open to discussion depending on your project scope and word count.
  • Paid work only.
  • Don't hesitate to reach out with your project details or sample text—we can find a budget and workflow that works for both of us!

Contact & Portfolio:

Since my portfolio contains commercial and NDA-bound works, I provide samples privately upon request.

If you'd like a quick quote or just want to chat about your project's Japanese release, feel free to reach out:

  • Discord: juetland
  • Or just send me a DM here on Reddit!
