Mod Post Rule Update: Sort of. (AKA we accidentally lost a rule and only just realized it)

So to keep transparency, we recently noticed that in our attempts to streamline the rules and make them more easily readable, we accidentally dropped the part about not making follow-up posts.

That was there because we had problems with people either making posts referencing other people's posts instead of just talking to them in their post, or making a new post when their post was removed or locked for either breaking the rules or starting to draw in a lot of drama.

Thankfully you guys have been really great and haven't done anything to make us notice that the rule was lost!
But there will always be some people who will see that a specific rule isn't there and try to argue that they should be allowed to continue a post after it's been locked or removed... So we put it back as it's own rule!

We also added a note about direct links to other subs. This was already something we had set up in automations! We ask that some subs not be directly linked to to avoid both digital self-harm of users (when linking to transphobic, transmed, or 4trans subs) or accusations of brigading.
Unfortunately there are some people who think that even mentioning a subreddit that has been harmful and telling people "Do not go there, it is not safe for people like us" is.... actually saying "go there and harass people" because apparently do not = do and it's not safe = be annoying????

And of course, not only will the user possibly get attacked, vilified, harassed, or reported, but it will end up in our modmail and we will be accused of "encouraging brigading" and they will threaten our entire subreddit. How do we know this will happen? Because it has before.
Thankfully the subreddit is fine, but modteam doesn't want to deal with that again, so we have to be weirdly strict about this, because some people are weird about it!

Finally, just a quick reminder that mod applications are open! We will likely be looking for more mods to add to the team to help avoid mod burnout, so if you are interested, please feel free to apply! You can find the link to the application in the sidebar and in the pinned posts at the top.

Recurring Friendship Megathread

THIS POST IS FOR TRANS MEN/MASCS ONLY!

GUESTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO POST HERE. PLEASE RESPECT OUR SPACES.

Failure to do so may result in a ban from the sub.

If you're looking to make new friends, here's a great place to start!
Do not include any advertisements to social media or other content type platforms! This is not the purpose of this thread!

Just post a bit about yourself and maybe take a look around to see if anyone else has similar interests!
Or, if you're not good at coming up with things to talk about, here's some questions you can answer:

What do you like to be called?
How old are you?
What country do you live in?
What are some hobbies you have?
List some favorite movies, TV shows, games, or other things:
What do you do for work?
Do you have any cultural or religious ties that are important to you?
Do you have any pets?
What's an interesting fact about you?
What are your transition goals?
Where are you in your transition?

Obviously you don't have to answer everything, but it might be able to guide you in the right direction if you struggle with coming up with facts about yourself on the fly.

Advice given Chris "overalls" is a rapist

Tw rape

This is NOT a v3nt but a warning, as he rapes trans men and uses his platform to find and coerce victims. No fucking subreddit will let me post about this not a single fucking one, but he is a SERIAL rapist with multiple victims. I cannot use my public accounts to talk about this as it would put my life in danger. But do not engage with Chris. He gets off on online harassment do not FUCKING engage with him. I have receipts but am only comfortable sharing if you're a fellow victim or have been in contact with him.

He is dangerous. He targets ftm. There is no universe in which there is a healthy way to be involved with him at all, even over text messages. He is an extremely dangerous individual to the entire community and has even gone cross country to assault someone before.

Discussion Please share your meet cute stories

I’d love to hear how you guys met your partners. I feel very isolated right now and would just love a little trans joy.

I broke up with my boyfriend to transition about a month ago and it sounds dumb but I really thought I would marry him. We were compatible in nearly every way and he was everything I was looking for in a person… until I transitioned.

I’ve never been super social and have never had a lot of friends and finding a partner like that again seems kind of impossible. Not to mention someone who would value me and be okay with me being trans.

I feel weird going to trans guy events because I still look/sound like a woman. But I don’t fit in with female spaces anymore either. So idk how to find community.

I’d love to hear about your meet cutes. I’m in a funk and please convince me I’m not gonna die alone lol

Discussion Best strokers? NSFW

NSFW WARNING!

Alright so, in your opinion what’s the best stroker? Texture wise, pleasure wise, everything. Personally I’m used to high stimulation toys because I use vibrators a lot so to be able to get off properly I need something with some good texture otherwise it just doesn’t do much for me. I’m 1.6 inches from growth as well, so what would fit best and give a good suction? Also are there any that look like normal cis male strokers? Like a mini fleshlight for trans guys maybe?

Vents go in r/ftmventing (And i don't read things!) Esperanças pro futuro e contexto político brasileiro

Meu nome é Diego, sou brasileiro, tenho 18 anos e atualmente estou terminando o ensino médio.

Discussion Anyone else just…not feel their sex drive change on T? NSFW

NSFW warning, obviously.

I’m about two months on T this week and I always see other guys talk about how they were so surprised about how their sex drive went through the roof by now. The thing is I’ve always had a high sex drive and mine just, like…hasn’t went up? Maybe it was already as high as cis guys around my age but I’ll maybe get a spike for an hour where all I can think about is sex but that’s been the only real change I’ve seen drive wise. In all fairness people will say how they suddenly think about sex 24/7 and I was already like that so I dunno I kinda thought everyone was like that.

Did anyone else not feel their sex drive go up or only have it go up a little?

Advice Needed Thinking of detransitioning because my transphobic dad who’s my employer is starting to notice my voice drop.

I am a disabled 24yo transmasc. I have been on HRT for 6+ months, and I am just starting to have a noticeable change. No one noticed the fat redistribution or the extra hair, but this I’ve been pressed on by my transphobic dad and stepmom for awhile.

I cannot get another job. This is the only thing that works with my mod/severe chronic fatigue, and other jobs I just can’t do with my level of fatigue and pain (I’ve tried and keep getting fired for subpar preformance). Disability is not enough to cover my expenses. This arrangement is the only way I maintain any independence.

I love how being on T makes me feel, it helps with my energy, mental health and dysphoria. But I also know my dad finding out would be life changing in a very bad way. I know this sub is all about protecting your safety, so if I do stop HRT, any tips for dealing with the resulting dysphoria?

Discussion REMINDER: passing tips change over time

I keep seeing people still give out outdated passing tips or give tips on what not to do but actually wont negatively affect your chances on passing. I think its important to note fashion for young men change over time and different hairstyles that are more traditionally male may actually feminize your face if you already had feminine features.

for example guys my age usually wear polos or fitted tees with baggy jeans or bootcut jeans, pierced ears, pierced nostril piercing, modcut, etc.

though it may change again in a few years. maybe different styles fit best to make you look more passing.

outdated tips rlly will just make you look like a tomboy IF it doesnt fit you. (i am a victim of the very baggy hoodie “wear your hood on 24/7” advice as a person who is built like a short stub)

Advice Needed Question about Cognitive Changes on T

I've been told by a few people that going on T can cause brain fog and decline in intelligence.

I did some research and nothing was really conclusive, meaning the studies needed to be longer or in a different direction to prove anything for sure.

I really value my cognitive skills and brain health so, while I want to go on T, this is concerning to me.

So in your personal experience, have any of you experienced intelligence related side effects?

(I know ADHD can sometimes get worse, however that wouldn't pertain to my situation)

EDIT:

Wow, I did not except so many comments. Thank you to everyone who responded in good faith, especially those who shared their own experiences.

It seems to be a resounding NO on the idea that T negatively alters intelligence. My fears have been properly assuaged ha ha.

Also, I realize I may have come off as ignorant or insulting, but I can assure you I did not mean my question in that way!

Advice Needed Is it normal to wish you were a girl?

• Upvotes

I’m a binary trans man. I’m 2.5 years on Testosterone and I’m getting top surgery in 3 weeks. I only want to be seen as a man. THAT is what gives me euphoria. When I see old pics/videos of myself, though, I wish I could have just kept being a girl. Is this level of grief normal?

I transitioned because I was miserable. I was Pretty as a girl, but I was miserable. I wanted to die. I TRIED to die multiple times. And now that I’m a man, I think I’m not as objectively attractive, but I’m a whole lot happier. I don’t want to die anymore.

I just wish that I was happy as a girl. I wish I could be happy in the body I was born in. Is that wrong? Am I wrong? Either for transitioning, or, I suppose, hypnotically, for not transitioning?

I want to hear these opinions before I “seal the deal” and get top surgery on November 3rd.

hey fellas. im a trans guy or genderqueer or something and think going on T might be a step in the right direction for me but im also worried it might be a choice i’ll regret later if im wrong. it kind of has me lying awake at night debating what i should do. i was just wondering if anyone out there has any general wisdom (aside from speaking to a professional for advice because im considering looking into that already lol) because i read this sub often and you guys are pretty helpful. any advice/anecdotes would be much appreciated!

Celebratory Gonna start saving for top surgery !!

Honestly not much of a post but hey. While going through the shitstorm that is getting temporarily cut off my hormones I realised how much top surgery is an important goal for me.

So I've decided im gonna start saving and researching how to get onto a waitlist to get it done after graduating. Cause of the nature of my majour I can't get it done till after I graduate(or at the very least not until after my 2nd year). Ive started door dashing on the side and im going to be starting the savings for top surgery B). Obviously when I am able I will get a better job but for the time being, income is income. This is honestly a nothing burger of a post but I wanted to tell someone.

Stay safe homies

Advice Needed Blood gushing after injection, need reassurance

Hello all, I'm feeling very nervous after I just did my injection. I've been on T for over a year and never have I had this much blood squirt out after an injection.

When I put the needle in my leg it was definitely more painful than usual. I tried to relax and just continue my injection through the pain.

When I pulled out the need though a ton of blood started coming out. I grabbed a cotton ball because that was the nearest thing and I was a bit panicked. Usually a little blood comes out but this was low-key gushing.

The whole cotton ball turned red but after that it was a normal trickle and almost completely stopped.

I've seen similar posts where it seems likely I just hit a capillary. Is this likely what happened? Is there any way to avoid this in the future?

Any support is appreciated, I'm just feeling a bit freaked out and anxious atm, thanks!

Advice Needed Metal vocals for trans guys?

• Upvotes

So, I know this sub gets tons of guys worried about being able to sing after they start T. This is not that question. I love what my singing voice has become after 8+ years on T (went from an alto to a baritone), but after decades of singing (just as a hobby, not professionally or anything) I am just now attempting to learn metal screaming/growls and I'm wondering if there are any adjustments I will need to make to the techniques used by either cis men or cis women to do extreme vocals or any different expectations I should have about the sound I can achieve, given that my vocal folds are thicker than they used to be but probably not significantly longer.

Anybody here do any metal singing and have any tips or insights specific to doing so as a trans guy?

And just for funsies, which metal singers' extreme vocals are goals for you? Mine would be Johan Hegg, Nicky Calonne, and Johannes Eckerström.

Discussion What is bottom dysphoria like? (NSFW) NSFW

I’ve been talking with my boyfriend lately about sex. He’s trans and doesn’t have bottom dysphoria, but I’m starting to think I do and just haven’t realized it. We have an active sex life, and I’m more than happy to top, but I have trouble receiving. I haven’t been able to finish in the 5 months we’ve been together, though he’s determined to get me there.

I just can’t help but think how good it would be to be able to feel penetration from the top. It doesn’t bother me in day-to-day. I don’t feel weird about going to the bathroom (though public is always stressful for obvious reasons) but when it comes to sex, I find myself wishing I had a real penis more often than not.

What does bottom dysphoria feel like for you guys? Is this just a mental hump I need to get over? Thanks for any replies :)

Advice Needed So i got grindr for 24 hours, and felt so overvelmed NSFW

Hi, first time poster here, bi trans man 25 y. Yesterday i tried downloading grindr, and immidiatly got overwelmed. A lot of people wanted to chat, and i didn't expect that much attention. People werent as transphobic as I thought, and actually kinda okay. I live in Denmark, so people here are okay inklusive and possitive about trans people. But i wanted to hear, if any of you have experiences with grindr, and if its possible to find more genuine conncetions? I find that most people in the 24 hours i had it, only wanted s*x, which is fair, I sometimes also are in that mood. I have logged out of the app, but still have interest in meeting people. So if you have some advice, i would gladly take it. Have a nice day! :))

Discussion Planning on changing legal name without parents knowing

So I turn 18 this Friday and will be submitting my legal name change form on my 18th birthday. The thing is that I don’t plan on telling my family about me legally changing my name. My family doesn’t know I have been going by a different name in my day to day life for years. I’m not in school anymore, but when I would order at fast food places and talk to others online, I would go by a different name and my family has never found out all these years.

When I was 13-15, I used to tell my family that my deadname is not my name, but they never believed me and would ask me what my name is then, and I would refuse to tell them and just say that they didn’t deserve to know. I haven’t mentioned anything about me hating my deadname since because I have been just waiting to turn 18 and legally change it and just trying to survive all these years, and here I am.

But now that I finally get to change it, they will be shocked to find out that I changed my name to a more masculine one when I already live my day to day life as a guy (they refuse to believe I’m a guy and just think I’m a girl who likes to dress like a guy). I don’t really care because I’ve waited years to finally change my name, and they can’t stop me, so they’ll just have to deal with it if they do happen to find out. I plan on just submitting my name change form and then when the hearing comes, go get my official legal name change papers and update my social security card and then my state ID without them ever knowing. I’m not sure how I will hide all of this from my family, but I think I can. I do plan on living with them for a while to save up money until I can finally move out though. It’s also a bit ironic too because I got $100 for my birthday money and will just use that for my HRT appointment and prescription too, and they won’t even find out about me starting HRT since I’m not using their insurance either, and they think I’ll just be staying at home the whole day on my birthday.

Gender Questioning Feeling like a man but not wanting to be one?

It's all so confusing. I never liked men or masculinity. I was raised by a pretty man-hating mother and I spent the last 10 years of my life living as a man-hating lesbian, so it's probably related to that, but... now I find myself wishing I had a flat chest, a deep voice, a penis, a male name... imagine myself as a man going about my day and it makes me happy and excited. Yet I don't want to be a man. Maybe I'm just spending too much time in general trans subs reading about the experience of trans women, how they began to feel pretty for the first time when they first presented the way they wanted to, how it felt like falling in love, how sweet and soft it all felt for them, like the edges of the world had smoothed over. An experience that is uniquely femenine. I don't want to be pretty, I want to be handsome, but I still long for that same sweetness and softness that seems to belong to women. Or maybe I idealize women too much. I do love women. They're so beautiful.

I just read a post about a trans woman putting on makeup for the first time in her twenties and grieving the fact that she never got to have this softness and sweetness as a teen, and I thought, I have NEVER felt this way about any traditionally masculine teenage experience. There is nothing appealing about running around the street making gorilla noises or playing call of duty. I don't know. I kinda wish I felt like a woman, so I could continue to live comfortably in that world. Or maybe I DO feel like a woman, maybe this is a sign this is the wrong path for me. I don't miss makeup or femenine clothes, they make me feel bad, but I do miss... idk, how cute women are? I don't even miss being a cute woman myself. I just long for the experience of "falling in love", metaphorically. Trans women describe masculinity as horrible and rough and violent and trans men emphasize its most noble aspects - being protective, kind, brave etc., but I can't stop thinking about how, well, trans women got it right. Femininity is just adorable in a way masculinity isn't, and I don't long for femininity itself but for its adorability. When I see a beautiful woman, I feel her pulling at my heartstings.

I think about this a lot. I COULD cling to this, I COULD live as a woman and live a softer, kinder, sweeter life. Maybe my yearning for it means womanhood is the right path for me. But I can't stop thinking about the man I want to be. Hopefully he is soft and kind and sweet too. I imagine he has long-ish hair and wears knitted sweaters and likes cats and dogs, and he's good to women. But even then, those are personality traits, not elements inherent to masculinity. Masculinity isn't "adorable", maybe I AM a woman if I care about that so much.

Advice Needed How to gain back crying?

• Upvotes

So, actually all my life I've never been much of a crier. Its never been the first thing I do, and its hard to break into a real sob. This has been strengthened by transitioning. I find it near impossible to cry. It does feel like a lack of a good release and I think I'm baseline more irritable because of it. Does anyone have experience gaining back the ability to cry? Any advice appreciated, Thanks.

Advice Needed Can bottom growth resume after T levels were way too low for a while? NSFW

Hi! I first started T with intramuscular shots in 2019, and was only on the shots for a few months. I then switched to gel, and stayed on it for about 6 years. I know for a fact my levels were way below what they should’ve been (I was lucky if I saw 250ng/dL on my test results, it was usually lower) but I was so scared of the shots I just stayed on the gel. This year, I finally got back on the shots, subcutaneous this time, and my levels are finally normal. But now I’m kind of anxious I fucked up my bottom growth results by staying on such a low dose for that long. Does anyone know if I can resume growing “normally” now that my levels are good? I’ve been on the subcutaneous shots for about 8 months now and I haven’t noticed any more growth…

Advice Needed My boy crush thinks im a girl.

Okay so situation.. despite being trans for 3 years (im 15 years old) i never correct people on my pronouns, I pass but my mom usually tells everyone im a girl and I'm super shy when it comes to my pronouns so I dont correct anyone.

And i have a crush on a guy right now and I think he actually has feelings for me but he thinks im .. a woman. I dont know if he's bi, and I really really love him. We fit together so well, but I cant keep pretending im a girl, it's not gonna work. I'm literally so embarrassed I found someone who im genuinely in love with, but im lying to him. I feel like im catfishing him, I'm SUPER stressed.

I love him so so fucking much but god I dont have to heart to tell him im not a girl. I have no clue where I go from here.

Discussion Where do you guys get your clothes?

I want to start wearing more masculine clothes that additionally cover my curves. Does anyone had suggestions on where to shop or what kind of clothes (shape and fit wise) I should look at?

Edit: I live in a small town so I don’t have any regular places I get my clothes. I mostly shop online and it’s hard to tell if the clothes would actually look good or fit (typical shopping online issues) and I’m looking for places that have things that have worked for others.
