Discussion i miss this part of living as a girl

this has been bothering me a lot recently so just wanted to ask if yall ever feel the same. before I came out, I wore makeup and painted my nails and had a ton of piercings and did my hair in different ways and styled my outfits. makeup and piercings make me dysphoric now and I feel like mens clothes are extremely boring compared to women's, but i can't see myself wearing women's clothes either. also having any hair other than shaved has been making me so dysphoric. Idk I just feel so boring nowadays and I feel like I've lost the freedom of self expression I used to have. do yall ever feel this way?

Discussion Cis people having "dead names"

What are your thoughts on cis people who have changed their name and refer to their birth name as a "dead name"?

For some reason this really gets to me.

It frustrates me because "dead name" comes, not from your name being 'dead', but rather the fact that trans people were (and still are) buried under that name. It was historically the names we had in death, but not life. A dead name.

Cis people don't have that connection to the word and it just comes across as insensitive to me. I understand if they are ignorant, but they're always so weird & uncomfortable when you correct them. Ugh. Getting whiplash here when I find out Annabelle is actually cis and just didn't want to be called Rosemary.

I usually don't care about things like this, but for some reason this one really gets to me. I think I hold it close because the word connects me to the struggles and suffering of all those who came before me.

Am I too over the top in thinking like this?

EDIT: Been reading through all the replies and had some really good feed back. This is definitely a non-issue. I think just one I hold a little too personally with how closely I connect it to trans people who have passed away.

Cis people can refer to birth names as dead names. I'll still feel discomfort but that's not for me to put on them

Discussion did anyone else actually like wearing a bra pre-transition?

i’ve recently been looking back through my childhood memories to look for past signs of anything after realizing that i’m trans , and was just curious if anyone had an experience similar to this.

ive only ever heard of trans men hating wearing bras before they realized that they were trans, but for me it was more of a wearing it 24/7, even to bed type of thing. i hated how it felt to walk around without a bra, and i always hunched over because i was embarrassed about it even though the only people that ever saw me were my family.

tbf i always wore really comfortable bras anyways, and my chest is rather small. after i started to wear less comfortable bras around my years in high school i gradually became more comfortable walking around (in my own home) without a bra. that was also around the time i started questioning my identity more, so i figure that maybe finding out the root of my discomfort with my chest also helped a little?? i don’t know about that one tbh

i DID absolutely and resolutely refuse to wear a bra when i was first going through puberty, even though i was quite insecure about the fact that you could see them, and i only started wearing bras once a classmate pointed the fact that i wasn’t wearing one out.

just curious if this is a typical trans experience or if it’s more of a me thing!

Advice Needed Is my voice starting to deepening? How can I hide it from my parents?

I just entered my third week of 25mg of gel daily. I think I've been using it for 21 days already.

Recently, I've been noticing occasional discomfort, heaviness, or slight pressure in my throat. Sometimes it feels scratchy, and I have to cough to clear it.

Sometimes I'll start talking and she'll start scratching or acting like I'm catching a cold

.

Does anyone know if this is a sign of the voice deepening? How long does it take for it to become really noticeable for people close to you to realize it's deepening for yourself?

For now, I can still make a really high-pitched voice that I use when I'm playing and joking with my sister. Like I said. Only now does it seem to scratch, and like I have a cold.

One example is that now when I do "hmmm...hmmm" My throat feels dry, and I choke and cough quickly. It itches too.

I hope that's it. Does anyone have any tips for hiding and disguising my voice from my parents? I'm thinking of using allergies, dust, flu, humidity, mold, etc. also do some MTF voice training. Which prob will be a lil hard since sometimes it itches

Cis/Transfem Guest FTM Writing

Hello!

I’m a visual novel writer, and one of my team’s new projects is a story following a FTM protagonist. The story isn’t directly about the trans experience (since it’s more of a thriller/crime mystery), but it does play a role in the events/reactions/interactions with other characters.

I really don’t want to fall unintentionally into tropes that plague trans characters in media, and want to write a character that people will be able to identify with and see as a good representation.

Any tips or advice or experiences are more than welcomed and appreciated!

Thank you!

Advice Needed My boy crush thinks im a girl.

Okay so situation.. despite being trans for 3 years (im 15 years old) i never correct people on my pronouns, I pass but my mom usually tells everyone im a girl and I'm super shy when it comes to my pronouns so I dont correct anyone.

And i have a crush on a guy right now and I think he actually has feelings for me but he thinks im .. a woman. I dont know if he's bi, and I really really love him. We fit together so well, but I cant keep pretending im a girl, it's not gonna work. I'm literally so embarrassed I found someone who im genuinely in love with, but im lying to him. I feel like im catfishing him, I'm SUPER stressed.

I love him so so fucking much but god I dont have to heart to tell him im not a girl. I have no clue where I go from here.

Advice Needed Not liking my options for T

T undecanoate seems very expensive and hard to find where I live so I'm pretty much limited to T cypionate or T gel. I do NOT want to do WEEKLY shots but I've had an unrelated terrible experience with transdermal meds before and I'm scared to try gel so what do I do????

Discussion I don't think women would ever desire me

I know that it's different for gay trans men because men tend to be a lot more lenient on trans people but I feel like I'll have tough luck finding a woman who would actually want to date me, let alone marry me. I feel like I can't live up to the height standards that women want. Will a woman ever actually take me seriously? I don't see a lot of straight guys on here talking about their spouse and children as much as I do gay guys and that scares me a bit. Is it over? Am I doomed to be single

Advice Needed Joining the military

(21FTM)

So, I don’t really know. I plan to join the military well not a plan I’m thinking about it heavily? To become a combat medic, and then come out and go into being an emt, the down side here is I’d have to detransition due to some new rules…(yuck) I would be detransitioned for at the minimum 4 years. I’m pretty fluid on my gender and don’t generally have an issue being misgendered, though I get very happy when gendered correctly. I would be getting legally married to my wife before doing any of this btw to be able to ensure her life if somthing where to go wrong aswell.

I’m weighing my options pros and cons yaknow? I mean a handful of pros are what I’ll get during and after my contract, medical insurance, the pay, I can make sure I can provide for my wife and one day we can provide for our kids, I’ll get that full fillet of needing to help people in fast and in an environment that’s always changing and always learning new things.

A few cons are, it’s dangerous as hell even more so rn with the current state of our country, you never know where your gonna go, I’m gonna be away from my family and friends for 4 years, I’m trans, I’d be called she/her and my deadname the whole time? (Maybe not too bad?)

I guess this whole post is just to ask for advice what do yall think? Is there any trans veterans that can help? YES I do know that I could be denied to the military in the first place, I have no documented diagnosis of gender dysphoria to my knowledge (idk what a phyc ward wrote on my file) but I am ok testosterone and I’m not positive they won’t raise red flags about it, but if things where to change and let trans people back into the military I’d still like this advice, thank you

EDIT: I would like advice that dosnt have anything to do with our current president, yes I know thease go hand in hand, yes I know he’s shit and would rather I burn in a ditch then serve in the military, i also do plan to get my EMT license before joining the military and this is just a path I am considering incase things change in the future.

Edit 2: I’m color blind, this post is basically null in void as I would be disqualified for somthing I couldn’t change, thank you for the advice I was given in the time.

Advice Needed Very stupid and uninformed post about binders

Obviously, bra size does not correlate to binder size. Of course. To think so would generally be a babytrans idea. I’m not babytrans, I’ve known for 9 years.

But HOW is a 36D an XL in gc2b? In spectrum outfitters? And in underworks, supposedly. Idk i havnt looked at underworks a lot.

Is it XL because of the way cis guys talk about D cups? Or am I genuinely just an idiot that doesn’t understand sizing and whatnot. I know someone who’s an F cup, would they be 5XL in binder size??? Bruuhhh

Small kinda unrelated short rant, but the fact that (if ive done the maths correct) a D is an XL is making me feel like shit because of course my tits are humongous ig. Of course. I genuinely think that everything ftm is made for small chested people ngl, and that is just brainworms and being a complaining whining baby, but seriously how is a D an XL…

Advice Needed My uterus hurts after pleasure NSFW

Im 1 year on T and I noticed that after having sex my uterus hurts. First I thought its because my bf is not small and he penetrates me but even if I pleasure myself without penetration in a few minutes my uterus starts to hurt.

Im also on birt control for almost 3 months but i dont think it has anything to with it

It hurts just a bit and kind of similar to period pain/cramping but with really low pain and uncomfortable sensation.

I dont really heard about this, or I cant give it explanation and im interested if anyone heard anything similar or is it even connected to hrt

Medical On T and there’s an unexpected development? NSFW

So I have been using T for about like 2-3 months. I’m in love with the changes! But there’s one that definitely confuses me.

I’m producing more discharge. Ofc I’ve had that but now it seems it’s intensified in producing for discharge. It looks normal and has no weird smell it’s just irritating cause I have to change more often. But during sex where I’m supposed to be producing more, I dry up to where when he finishes it burns. I’m 100% clean. I don’t have a sti or a std so I think the burning comes from lack of lubrication and small wounds that are made from consistent rubbing.

Did any of you guys experience something like this?

Advice Needed post hysto hip pain, help !

hi all !

i am 22 ftm, i got my hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy back in 2022. i am on a weekly subcutaneous injection that i keep botching, this is a new site for me.

i’ve been on t for over 7 years doing im and i get so exhausted between doses doing IM so i switched to subq with no estradiol supplementation, so no estrogen in this body at all !

i have a history of being horrible of keeping up on my shot. but i have been religiously consistent but i keep accidentally injecting under the skin but not into the fat.

as of somewhat recently i have been having random joint pain that has been relatively easy to ignore until it goes away. but yesterday i had a crazy sudden onset of some crazy hip pain that has continued into today

it’s effecting my mobility, im having a hard time doing any movement. even when resting there’s still a significant amount of pain

i started glucosamine chondroitin supplements today and im praying next shot will make it blow over

anyone else have this experience ? if so, what helped ?

Advice Needed I don’t deserve transition

I hate everything, I’m so fucking miserable everyday. I wish I could be a man but I can’t. I’m 16, I can’t transition. I don’t deserve it anyways, I wish I was more dysphoric so I could be a man. People say I should be happy I’m a cis girl, I’m not, I would only be happy if I was a cis man. At this point, I either find myself attractive but the idea upsets me or I feel absolutely nothing. I wish I was a guy, I wish I felt more like one. I can’t live as a woman, it feels painful and wrong, I’m filled with dread every time I look at myself and then I look at cis men or transitioning trans men and I get sad and jealous. No one sees me as a man or wants me to be one. Everyone wants to make me a girl. I tried to convince myself it was everything but dysphoria or if things were different I wouldn’t feel this way but I know none of that is true, I only ever wanted to be a guy and that’s it. No social motivation, no trauma to make me hate being a girl, I don’t hate women in any way(which is sad you have to clarify this or people will accuse you of it) I just wish I was male. I just fear I don’t want it enough or since men look funny to me, I’m just lying to myself or it’s like I wish I was dysphoric for whatever reason. I don’t know. I’m mentally unwell too, I have severe intrusive thoughts, I fear I do want to be woman and I attempted before because I thought I was becoming a girl. And I’m still denied transition, still denied any type of understanding and support while people who are perfectly happy and arrogant about people with mental problems that get to transition while I don’t then they shame me for how I am. I was also raised with so much internalized misandry and transphobia, all I ever hear is about how men are evil, stupid, and incompetent and about trans people that are criminals on the news. All that makes me think I have to be cis and a girl, because I have been taught girls are smarter, better, and more beautiful then men

Advice Needed Someone please convince me to drop my straight guy friend

I have a very typical story- cishet friend I’ve known since I was like 14 (in my 20s now) keeps hitting on me. I moved before I started T so he hasn’t seen me irl as a passing man, but I’ve told him I do look like your average guy (he’s told me outright that he’s not into any other men.) His reasoning is that it doesn’t matter because I still have ‘the parts of a girl’.

I know just from talking to him that he doesn’t respect me as a guy, and I doubt he’ll ever start. He comes from a very small-town-conservative background and isn’t the sort to break the mould.

The reason I have a hard time dropping him is that I have a really hard time making friends (as the only queer person that I know of in my area, and as a disabled person), and I’d be losing a really big part of my social life during a time when I’m struggling. He’s been supportive of me getting top surgery and a lot of things like that in a really important way, so it’s just hard.

I’d wonder if he was a chaser, but I genuinely don’t think he’s aware of trans people other than me. That’s how small-town we are (well, not so much me since I moved away, but definitely still him). I guess that doesn’t disqualify him from being a chaser, but my point is that it doesn’t seem to be a pattern.

I know I should drop him, but my family don’t see the issue (they think the fact that he’s interested in someone like me is a sign that he’s a really good guy. My dad is actually praising him for this situation) and I just need to hear it from someone else.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Advice Needed Help me build a list of reasons to work out consistently

Hi, chronically ill ftm who doesn't work out. I've been on T for two years, and before I was on T always told myself I would work out consistently once I was on T because it would be so much easier for me. Well, two years in, I've done a couple half-hearted workout starts but always dropped it after a few days because of the hassle and soreness.

I have weights and a pull-up bar at home, and my partner helped me design an every-other-day routine for me that is tough but not intense enough to trigger my chronic illness, so really the only barrier is psychological.

So my question is: can you help me build a list of reasons and encouraging things I can physically post in my room as a reminder of what I'm trying to achieve?

I already have:

-to get hotter

-so I can pick up my partner (she can pick me up)

-to lessen chronic illness symptoms/inflammation

-so I can impress people at gay arm wrestling events

-for the post workout high satisfaction

I'll take anything even if it's silly/zany. hit me!

Relationships Dating and trans-realization

For the better part of 9 years, I've questioned my gender. I've gone through moments where I would feel intense amounts of gender dysphoria, and other times where I would over-romanticize girlhood to cope.

Two months ago, I cut my hair short. It was my first step into accepting who I am. Before I did that, I had been posting on a secret account as a guy. I'd also try Tinder as a guy, creating pictures by putting my hair in a hat. I've been depressed and dissociated and horribly anxious all my life. Since I cut my hair short and started wearing guy clothes, my social anxiety has halved. My depression too.

When I spoke to my dad about being trans (again, since I'd sort of done so as a kid), I also told him about dating. He told me that I was adding too much into the gender question. Basically: How I feel about dating shouldn't matter in my questioning my gender. At first it made me feel very insecure again. I've NEVER been sure about being a trans guy. Not like what I have seen.

But... Dating is one of the most gendered activities, in my opinion. Unless you're both pansexuals and maybe like, non-binary OR specifically against labels and genderroles. My point is, dating should absolutely be taken into account.

I've been on three dates (since being grown enough to take it seriously). Two girls, one guy. the first one just made me feel horrible. TERRIBLE. She wasn't my type, sure, but I also hated how she put her arm around me. Then the second one. My type to a T. I couldn't do it because I was performing. And then the guy. I liked him a lot. But I didn't like the idea of being his girl. I didn't like how I had to make myself be. I dreaded texting all of them because I was not myself.

I have a date tomorrow with another trans guy. I'm nervous... but fucking excited. He likes me for me. The ACTUAL me.

Just wanted to share this :)

Discussion Are more frequent T shots better?

I’ve been seeing a lot of conversations online (IG, TikTok) about more frequent injections being better than less frequent in terms of masculinization, particularly EOD.

I’m on Sustanon 250 every 3 weeks for 14 months and it seems to be going okay but some things are just not happening (facial hair, some body recomp, mainly). I had been on 0.5ml cypionate in the US for about a year before moving to the UK but I prefer the Sustanon in terms of mood. The last few days before my shot get a little lethargic and dysphoric but usually I can handle it okay.

I think I don’t know about comparing TRT protocols to HRT 1:1 because the endemic hormone considerations are different and I’m wondering how much of this is sort of pubmed gymbro optimization and how much is actually safe, documented to have better results for masculinization?

I also don’t know how to go about this when I get glass amupuoles in the UK.

Tl;dr EOD injecting feels kinda redpilled to me but I can’t tell and would like to know. If I can get better results, how? If it’s unsafe, why?
