Issue Summary
A recent Bambu Studio update might have changed how fine lines are sliced, causing a previously good quality print to drop text outlines and malform small letters (in the preview and the physical print). These are small sized details, I understand. I am trying to address the issue by updating settings, including making sure Arachne is selected. I know a 0.2mm head would likely resolve, but the print head has never had to be changed. I am using Bambu Studio 2.8.61.1, and the printer has firmware 1.12.00.00. I have successfully printed other objects with this combination and have not had any issues like this issue. The small details disappear now, before they printed. Thank you if you can help, and sorry if my post is not short enough.
Description (a long read for those that made a comment, but thank you if you help)
My 3+ year old print no longer prints the details on my keychain model as it has in the past. In preview you can see the issue - the details don't print at all or they are incomplete. They were not last year. Not new, not the greatest 3D print technician, I guess, but 1,500 hours of printing across the printers I have, all personal
The model is printed in PLA using 3 colors: all matte, Polyterra Matt Black, Bambu Matte White, and Bambu Matte Red. I have printed with other brands over time, depending on what I had available.
I have tried it with 0.12mm High Quality, 0.08mm Extra Fine, and 0.20mm Standard. They all have the same issue. Otherwise, standard settings as the app opens, and had few other settings. The infill is rectilinear, 65%, 1 Fill Multiline. Standard heat settings, but since this is showing up in Preview it is not a physical filament print issue. I tried other fill types; same result. Wall loops 2. *I suspect a wall, fill, or related setting is the issue, but I cannot find it.
The text with the year is replaced each year. The print looks fine in design mode. The text is raised, the red portion of the logo is raised, and the black outline around the logo is raised. The text is sunk a little to help it adjhere. It has not sheared off in past designs. You can see a version printed last year (2026) and this year (2027). The text changed a little, but it uses the same text tool , font, and size in Bambu Studio. BTW the old saved model that printed last year has the same issue.
I made *no changes* to the model settings when I opened it with this year's new version. Just deleted the old text and added the new text using the Text tool in Bambu Studio. I printed the model, and it reflects exactly what the Preview shows - no outline, letters malformed.
I tried a few adjustments and only got other problems, including the black outlining forming odd connections to the red letters and little connectors when I tried Thin Wall (so clearly a) I don’t know what that does, b) it does not fix my issue, and 3) it creates weird things I did not expect. Going to Arachne helped with the black frame but screws up the text portion of the logo now.
These are gifts for the graduating seniors playing tennis; my son is their coach, and I really want to resolve this so we can present them. I have included screenshots of the item in Bambu Studio, a basic shot of the settings panel to show the fonts and a few of the objects, and a picture of the two printed versions next to each other.
I hope someone can help diagnose what is going on, redesigning this would be a lot of work with limited time. I can provide the model if needed, upload it to my account, or something. I really don't want to put this in the public domain; a set of coasters I did suddenly ended up everywhere, so I didn't like that (not a commercial issue, but I didn't want it out).
