Does anybody else feel completely over seeing rich people in shows and movies?

Is anyone else REALLY fucking over seeing rich people in movies and TV shows? I am SO over it I could puke. I think producers, director, directors, etc., need to STOP look around and take a beat. So many people struggling right now and everything out there is just riddled with rich people having lives none of us can relate to or will ever have. It's exhausting and old. Their houses are extravagant, their cars are ridiculous, their problems are even more hilariously out of touch. It would be laughable if it wasn't insulting in face of everything. Anyone else feeling this lately too? I've fucking had it.

DAE cannot be bothered to text/call their friends

• Upvotes

i just cannot be bothered to text or call after school/work. or hang out even more. it just takes so much effort and energy. obviously i see my friends everyday and im with them the whole time but then when i go home, i literally completely ignore them. and im ngl i am on my phone and they usually text on a groupchat, so i just never respond. if they message me privately, ik it might be something serious and specific so then i will respond but its usually just a short convo.
theyve gotten used to me being like this and they have told me or said in jokey way, that i never call or text. i feel bad but at the same time i genuinely cannot be asked and i rather just do my own thing when im alone.
but the thing is i dont feel this way (abt texting and hanging out, i still dont like calling) to my sister or mum..

DAE feel like going outside to do things is no longer fun

• Upvotes

I am hitting this point in life where the idea of going outside to do things doesn't appeal to me anymore. I dread every weekend where I get invited out to do something or I try to go out to do something and realize things are just strange now. I do not know if it's a post COVID thing or just because everything is so expensive. It seems like now when I go out something is bound to go wrong or people are very anxious about having a good time due to the cost of going out. For example a group of my friends went to a fall fest and one of the stalls made fun of us for not knowing how to ask for a basket (one of my friends called it self pick instead of you pick). And other customer service experiences like this. Going out to eat used to be fun but now the food all tastes the same and not very good.

Honestly now some of the most fun I have outside is just walking trails. I am not sure what I am doing wrong or if I am just complaining too much? Does anyone else feel like this? This is becoming more of an issue because I used to love to travel and now I am seeing the same thing when I travel. I can't justify traveling if I am just not having a good time.

DAE feel left out in the dating world?

Specifically need the girls for this 😣

Are there other women out there that just feel left out in the dating world…

I feel like ever since I was a little girl I knew deep down that I wasn’t pretty like other girls and knew it would be hard for me with boys. I’m really mid to be honest lmao & I’ve accepted that since a young age and never really let it bother me much until recently. I was one of the girls at school that boys made fun of, I was never asked to any dances, I would be asked out as a joke etc.

It’s been eating at me more and more I think because so many people around me and in my life and even just on social media are getting married, having kids, starting a family, all the things I’ve dreamt of doing myself but no the possibility is very slim. I think I get insecure about myself a lot, I see other girls get treated so well, they are taken care of and provided for, they have a good man showing them off and doing things for them. And it’s just made me a bit sad thinking that will never be me.
The relationships I have had, I always end up being cheated on. In fact I feel like the guys I’ve been with were embarrassed to be seen with me anyways because they never took me on dates, or took me out of the house much at all really. I always felt like it wasn’t much of a relationship anyways, I was used for either my apartment or car, or money. Sometimes I feel like the only way to keep someone around is by buying everything I possibly can that they want, which is very sad lol. I’ve always been the one to give, and I don’t think anyone will ever do the same for me.

I just wanted to vent and see if there’s anyone else that maybe feels the same. It’s like an ache I feel knowing I want something I’ll never have. It kinda makes me question the point in life, I know relationships and having a family and being married isn’t the only thing in life to be happy about, however, it’s something I want so much so it stings a bit and makes me question what the purpose and point for my life is.

Does anybody else create entire fake scenarios in their head before falling asleep?

Sometimes I’ll lie in bed and spend an hour imagining completely fictional situations that will probably never happen.

Arguments where I come up with the perfect response, conversations with people I haven’t spoken to in years, or entire versions of my future that exist only in my head.

The crazy part is that I can get so invested that I actually feel the emotions associated with these imaginary situations.

Then I realize I’ve been lying in the dark for an hour arguing with someone who isn’t even
there. 😭

Does anybody else repeat what you just said, but with a different intonation?

I've noticed that I have a tendency to repeat what I've just said to someone. Usually I repeat last couple of words in a sentence, with same loudness but with different intonation, while breaking eye contact and looking somewhere else.

It usually happens when I'm explaining or discussing something, particularly when sharing my opinion.

I wonder how common it is? Does this have a word? What might be the reasons for such behavior?

Does anybody else feel mentally drained from doing normal things?

• Upvotes

so i’m in my late teens and i’m starting to get more accountability for how i present myself and ive noticed that i sound like a bitch. and sometimes i lwk am but a lot of the time i don’t even mean to sound so rude but i come off sassy. i also get pretty mentally drained quite fast and i imagine it has something to do with it.

But the thing that gets me is i don‘t even do much. I don’t have many chores and I don’t get bad grades so i barely study and i only work around 7 hours a week but i still get so tiered. I become really irritated and i snap at people and feel so guit after. I also get slightly annoyed by the customers, i think i come off as rude as well bc people tell me i naturally have an “attitude“

like am i that weak? everyone does thing and i don’t understand why i can’t.

i wish people didn’t have to take my tone and face so seriously. Im not good at deescalating things when they do think i’m mad either bc i actually get mad at the fact they think I’m mad lol. My best friends autistic do she doesn’t read into my tone all that much and i wish every one was like that. it’d make everyone a lot better to be around.

DAE experience this kind of mood pattern?

For years, my mood has fluctuated up and down, but most days I feel at a low “meh” baseline rather than genuinely happy. On occasion, I might have 1–2 better days where I feel good, more motivated, and less irritable, but usually my mood shifts throughout the day depending on what happens.

Sometimes a small comment or interaction can suddenly make me feel irritated, hurt, disconnected, or significantly lower than I felt moments before. Other times, music, exciting plans, attention, or something new can make me feel noticeably better, but the feeling often fades, and I return to my usual baseline. I also struggle with feeling dissatisfied or emotionally empty even when nothing particularly bad is happening.

I’m trying to understand whether this sounds like emotional dysregulation, a depressive pattern with mood fluctuations, or something else.

Does anyone relate to this? What are your mood fluctuations like, and have you figured out what causes them?

Do you think these apps are designed to keep us scrolling, or have we just lost the ability to take a proper break? What's the longest you've accidentally scrolled?

DAE wonder if goosebumps actually scared us back then, or if we just liked the thrill of pretending?

I was talking with my buddy about nostalgic childhood stuff today, and those classic horror book came up in conversation. We were laughing about how obsessed everyone was with reading them under the blankets after lights out. It got me thinking about whether those monster stories truly gave us chills, or if part of the fun was just staying up late and scaring ourselves on purpose because it made us feel grown up.

Does anybody else feel like the spooky atmosphere under the blanket was scarier than the actual book plots?

About 6 months ago I had high school final exams and that wasn't a good time for me. I didn't perform well and it was a stressful time. Yet—today I feel nostalgic for that time

DAE use suicidal ideation as a coping mechanism?

Just curious I was severely depressed when I was much younger since then suicidal ideation has become a coping mechanism for me to a point like I have a full plan and know how I would do it and when I get depressed I always know "hey if it gets too much I could do that with ease" to relieve stress and continue carrying on, like knowing I always have an out allows me to continue pushing myself. I haven't heard or don't know of anyone else who does that and I have no plans to actually unalive myself but it's become like a pathological reflex to use and think about that as a coping mechanism to continue carrying on with my days. Curious if anyone else has had it become a coping mechanism for them rather then something they are actually considering doing

DAE feel incapable of sincerity?

I had been going back and forth on how best to describe this feeling but I feel as though I have completely destroyed the part of my brain that's responsible for treating things with earnest and reverence. When I have conversations I have to punctuate any remark that brushes too closely to sincerity with a joke, I have to be a bitter asshole about things that don't matter and flippant about things that do matter. It is very very hard to break this habit because even if I were to say this to a person in front of me I doubt I could without making some kind of snarky comment about myself to diffuse any possible tension.

Ironically this is the most sincere thing I've said all week. My heart just doesn't feel in it. Someone says they love me and I can't even bring myself to respond in that moment, even if I do love them (maybe in my own way). I never get annoyed or passionate about things that warrant annoyance or passion and any real feeling I have seems very short-lived. Even the dread I feel at being a social prisoner of my own habits is short lived and it feels like I can only push it through from the inside by slapping my fingers on keys like a puppet and hoping what I say makes sense.

There is a one-way mirror between me and other people where I completely understand them and where they are coming from and know that I should help them when they need it, but it isn't reciprocated, even when I try and try and try to reclarify what I mean it never quite hits the mark. It feels like internally I am talking normally but externally I'm hooing and haaing like a chimp.
