DAE get a little sad when they see just how much people value looks?
Anytime I see or hear someone say they like a celebrity, or even a fictional character or just someone in their life because they’re pretty/hot (or mainly because of that) I’m like wow we really are animals.
Looks are prioritized over everything else. It’s a human thing obviously, nobody’s immune to it. Lizard brain and evolution and symmetrical faces and all that. I know that, still it’s pretty sad to me.
How are we so blind. Every time I hear or read someone saying that I just imagine cattle, being feral and foaming at the mouth. Their brain is overwhelmed entirely with one thing. I’m dramatic, but it’s genuinely fascinating.
And what’s even funnier is when people get upset that someone isn’t as attractive to them as they used to be, and voice their opinion too. How dare you not appeal to me anymore? Let me feel good looking at you how could you do this?
They look at people as objects of their desires. They watch characters in movies and tv shows and root for them because they appeal to those desires, over everything else. (Referring to the ones who only/mainly like certain people and characters because they’re attractive).

DAE struggle to retain anything from their university classes?
I feel like anytime I complete an assignment, actually read the assigned textbook, and take notes on it and the presentation slideshows, I never actually retain anything. And the few times I've tried active recall or memorizing stuff for exams, I immediately forget everything within hours to a few days. I feel like it has something to do with my brain only paying genuine attention to things I am infatuated with, not something I simply find "interesting", which is how I feel about all my upper-division psych classes.
I'm not exactly looking for advice (but it's always welcome); I honestly just want to find people to relate to. I'm terrified that the day I finally land a job in this field, I won't perform as well because I literally can't remember jack shit. Like I'm currently a straight-A student, but if you ask me anything about the neurons in our brain from chapter 4, I couldn't tell you a single thing.
So, is anyone else like this?

DAE feel Ike straight people don’t need dating apps?
I’m so sorry Ik A LOT of yall may disagree with this take but…I just feel that it’s so easy for straight folks to find love. Like as a straight person you can literally walk out to your mailbox or take out the trash and see someone jogging down the street, strike up a convo/get their number, and boom now you’re dating someone. People who aren’t straight do NOT have that same luxury😂😂😩😩. Which is why us gays/lesbians NEED dating apps.

DAE feel totally uncertain
I’m 19F, and despite trying to stay persistently happy, I can’t help but feel so uncertain with the trajectory of my life. I’m currently in communications as a community college student. I transferred to university this January, still finalizing my decision. i’ve always been a very creative person. as early as I can remember, I’ve loved writing music poems, scripts. I’ve always wanted to act. I remember having the opportunity to sign with an agency when I was 17, but my mother not wanting to put down money for test shoots. I didn’t take this to heart, but often think about what could’ve been. What’s pursuing communications, I did intentionally choose a “less rigorous degree”, so I’d still have time to pursue creative endeavors while building community in school. I guess my burden is not knowing exactly what I should pursue as a main career. whenever I grow, doubtful about acting and modeling, here comes a stranger or a mentor, telling me, I’d excel those things, or asking, if I pursue those things, before I even mention it. Could just be pure, coincidence, but it happens so often it’s driving me crazy. I’m a little clouded right now, so I probably didn’t articulate this as strongly as I could’ve, I guess I just maybe want to see if anyone else is going through something similar.

HAE noticed that people hesitate to banter with you?
I know a lot of people whose love language is basically insults. Soon after meeting you, they'll throw around lighthearted roasts. Then as you get to know each other better, you start pushing boundaries and the insults get funnier and funnier. It can be taken too far of course, but otherwise I think it's a great way to connect.
Nobody does this to me, aside from people I've known for years. Not even the type of person whose whole personality is friendly insults. People either make polite small talk with me or straight up glaze me with compliments. It feels fake. I kinda wish people would treat me how they treat others.
I've been wondering my whole life why they do this. Maybe I come across as extremely sensitive? Or unapproachable? I mean I do have a bad case of rbf and a lot of people have admitted that I'm intimidating on first impression.

DAE have a weird reaction when playing with their dogs on the floor in their eyes and mouth?
This has happened my entire life! I have never heard anyone else talk about it. Playing with my dogs is the only way, that I can remember, that this has happened.
It just happened, so here is the context: I was laying on my back and my dog was looming over me and I was laughing, pushing her away. That was all.
I suddenly feel the familiar feeling of ‘tingling’ in the roof of my mouth, and my eyes become harder to focus. This doesn’t happen when I lay on the floor any other time. It’s only with my dogs. I don’t think it’s an allergies thing.
Has anyone else experienced this? This has happened occasionally for at least 15 years.

DAE not make the bed???
I don’t care!!!!! It’s a useless task!!!!!!! “Starting the day off right” is a lazy excuse!!! Who tf wants to do it?? I genuinely don’t even notice crawling into a made bed vs unmade at the end of the day. It is a waste of time and effort!!!

Does anybody else have this happen?
Like…how do I describe it…you know how you feel random heart beat pulses or twitches/flutters in your palms, head, or ears? Yeah, that happens to me. Very faintly, especially if I’m sitting on one side when I’m trying to fall asleep.
So, when I was in my history course at 9AM-10AM, there’s this random flutter or thumping lapse in my right ear. If I move my head it goes away. It’s not annoying or anything, it’s just slightly irritating when I’m trying to find out what it is.
Also, randomly if I zone out during a lecture or with friends, even when I’m listening to music or in a quiet space, at least once every while, there’s some VERY FAINT high pitched noise—
Kind of like this, actually:
https://youtu.be/qfyYOS_h9g0?si=g7ZMPMB6_92AvA82
—in the back of my head, kind of like my ear.
Sometimes I poke around in my right ear. Is there wax or something? This leads to my OCD being well….OCD.
I have Misophonia (and such comes with perfect hearing, I can hear very quiet whispers or stuff from another room) so luckily this doesn’t trigger it. However, squeaky sneakers or whistling does.
Today, I was on a call with my therapist, and I’ve noticed that rarely, if I pace I will, not hear, but feel a thumping noise…kind of like twitching, but it’s very quiet.
It usually stops when I unfocus.
Does anybody else have this happen to them? I never know how to describe it to anyone and I just feel awkward. 😂 But I used to sit for hours maladaptive daydreaming so maybe I got used to the quietness or hearing songs at very low volumes, sometimes up to my ears (but very quiet). I still have VERY great hearing though, so maybe I’m just hearing “nothing?”
Like I’ve just had it happen all my life, as long as I can remember. It’s like those little hearing tests where you raise your hand when there is a ringing noise.
If there is the noise and somebody speaks to me or some random noise it just goes away or I have to refocus my attention.

DAE feel emotionally overcome when seeing objects in a perfect row?
This sounds weird and is hard to explain but it is so visceral. When I see objects in a row, for example I was in a new residential building in the bike storage room, all these empty bike racks are in rows, and I feel this overwhelming feeling of…
Awe, sorrow, pride.
Cannot explain. Makes me want to weep. Anyone else????

DAE rehearse a simple phone call in your head five times and still fumble the very first sentence?
Calling to book an appointment or ask a store if something is in stock. I'll run the script in my head, even plan what to say if they ask a follow up. Then they pick up, say hello, and I somehow answer with "yes hi good morning, uh, I was calling to, yes."
Once I get past the first line I'm totally fine. It's only the opening that falls apart.

DAE do things immediately 'whilst they have the motivation'?
I find that sometimes I lose motivation for a task, even if I desperately wanted to do it just a few hours ago

does anybody else think one tiny habit matters more than a whole morning routine
everyone talks about the big 5am routines and cold showers and all that. but honestly the tiny habits are the ones that actually stick. a glass of water before coffee. phone face down while eating. making the bed even when nobody sees it
the big routines last like 4 days. the small ones just become part of you without trying
what is the smallest habit that actually changed something for you. the one you would notice straight away if you stopped doing it

DAE become so fixated on a topic that cant get over it?
Lately, I’ve realized that I’ve been getting way too caught up in the whole "groin-kick" topic, i looking after it every possible site and its consume my time and attention.
Firts i met it accidently and since then i cant get over it, like i cant believe its really that common or its even really happen and happened when girls hit guys in the area without any good reason and laugh at them, cause immense pain and sometimes serious damage.
Firts it looks like not so commom but after you look into it more deeply there is so much story and victims just society belittle it and still find it funny.
I hate when someone hurt innocent peoples expecially without any serious consiquences.
Also, maybe this topic touched me so much because i had bad experinece in my early years with girls (bullying etc.).
What do you experience with the topic, how someone who get in a "loop" like this can get out of it?

DAE use AI for questions they’re too embarrassed to ask an actual person?
DAE ask AI questions they’d feel kind of stupid asking another person?
Not even important stuff. Just those random basic questions where you know someone could probably answer, but you’d feel a little embarrassed admitting you don’t already know.
I’ve realized that being able to keep asking follow-up questions without feeling judged makes it way easier to actually understand things.

DAE love having nightmares?

DAE really enjoy raw pieces of entertainment?
I didn't know how to categorize these types of media, but they seem to be directly on the line of entertainment and realness. They're blunt and don't shy away from anything but are also pieces of entertainment.
For me, some examples are:
Boots By: Rudyard Kipling (Poem + it's recording by Taylor Holmes)
Okashi No Ie (Ft. Teto) (Song)
Megan is Missing (Movie)
Secrets of Wysteria (Ft. Oliver) (Song)
Midori (The movie that is banned everywhere)
Alfred's Playhouse (Online series)
If anyone has any pieces of media like this (that I hopefully haven't seen), I'd like to know because they are so interesting!

DAE leave a little water on your hands after you wash your hands in the restroom so people know you washed your hands?

DAE hear random conversations between people in their head when trying to sleep?
Frequently when I am trying to go to sleep i feel like I can hear other people having conversations with each other, they are not talking to me but rather just talking in general. In these moments i am fully aware that it’s just my thoughts but I can’t suppress them. I sometimes genuinely have trouble sleeping because it’s like people are conversing right beside me. Does this happen to anybody else?

DAE not fold their clothes at all
For laundry I throw everything into the washing machine and run a cycle, maybe 2 if it’s really dirty, and then everything goes in the dryer. Once it’s done it just all goes into a clean basket.
I dont care if my clothes have wrinkles. Once I wear them for an hour the wrinkles smooth themselves out anyways. It’s so much easier this way. I think I would lose my mind if I have to fold them. I actually think laundry is one of the easiest chores this way. It doesn’t even feel like that much of a chore tbh. You hardly do anything. Just throwing clothes into the washing machine, pouring detergent, and using the dryer is so easy when you don’t need to fold all of them.

HAE intentionally made yourself fat because you were made fun of for being skinny and then changed your mind, panicked and tried to lose the fat as quickly as possible?
Believe it or not, this is what happened to me. I was self-conscious about being too thin, so I decided I'd make myself "fat". And I stupidly thought that just being heavier would somehow make me more attractive. So, I gorged myself full of food everyday, even if I wasn't hungry, I'd still stuff my face full of food. Then, someone finally pointed out to me that I was fat. I suddenly come to my senses that I was fat and then I panicked and desperately started starving myself while exercising my ass off all day long until I lost most of it. I don't think I ever fully recovered from it though, I still have some excess belly fat that I can't get rid off. Which may be there permanently now.

DAE, in medical situations, when somebody asks for your date of birth, ask that person when their birthday is (you know, after you give them the requested information so they can do their job)?

DAE have insane mood swigns?
I have crazy mood swings. The fact that I'm a teenager may play into it but I will have the happiest day of my entire life and then I come home and suddenly I'm bored and within an hour I feel the most depressed I've felt in a hot minute.
It doesn't happen every day but my moods don't last very long. Max it'll last 2 hours before switching and it's so exhausting.
I mean this afternoon I was very excited because my art was going to be shown in a showcase nearby and that's never happened before. But then the minute I remembered, I have no one to drive me to my own show. I can't see my art in the gallery, today is the only day. No one is here to support me. I'm all alone again and then I spiral into a depression. Then I remember a new episode of my show is out today and I get excited again bc this episode they FINALLY kissed. That lasts about 2 hours before i'm desperately bored again. So I go visit my neighbor's cows, only they aren't there and I notice my uncle leaving and I remember the art gallery and I feel depressed again. Then I go back in and draw a bit and I love the drawing and I'm happy again. Right now I can FEEL like i'm going to hit another low in a moment.
I can't control myself and I feel like a slave to these mood swings. I don't know what to do with myself. I don't take medications because my parents don't "Believe the psychologist." I don't even have therapy anymore because apparently i look fine now so i don't need it.
(i'm diagnosed with adhd)
