Does anybody else feel completely over seeing rich people in shows and movies?

Is anyone else REALLY fucking over seeing rich people in movies and TV shows? I am SO over it I could puke. I think producers, director, directors, etc., need to STOP look around and take a beat. So many people struggling right now and everything out there is just riddled with rich people having lives none of us can relate to or will ever have. It's exhausting and old. Their houses are extravagant, their cars are ridiculous, their problems are even more hilariously out of touch. It would be laughable if it wasn't insulting in face of everything. Anyone else feeling this lately too? I've fucking had it.

DAE feel left out in the dating world?

Specifically need the girls for this 😣

Are there other women out there that just feel left out in the dating world…

I feel like ever since I was a little girl I knew deep down that I wasn’t pretty like other girls and knew it would be hard for me with boys. I’m really mid to be honest lmao & I’ve accepted that since a young age and never really let it bother me much until recently. I was one of the girls at school that boys made fun of, I was never asked to any dances, I would be asked out as a joke etc.

It’s been eating at me more and more I think because so many people around me and in my life and even just on social media are getting married, having kids, starting a family, all the things I’ve dreamt of doing myself but no the possibility is very slim. I think I get insecure about myself a lot, I see other girls get treated so well, they are taken care of and provided for, they have a good man showing them off and doing things for them. And it’s just made me a bit sad thinking that will never be me.
The relationships I have had, I always end up being cheated on. In fact I feel like the guys I’ve been with were embarrassed to be seen with me anyways because they never took me on dates, or took me out of the house much at all really. I always felt like it wasn’t much of a relationship anyways, I was used for either my apartment or car, or money. Sometimes I feel like the only way to keep someone around is by buying everything I possibly can that they want, which is very sad lol. I’ve always been the one to give, and I don’t think anyone will ever do the same for me.

I just wanted to vent and see if there’s anyone else that maybe feels the same. It’s like an ache I feel knowing I want something I’ll never have. It kinda makes me question the point in life, I know relationships and having a family and being married isn’t the only thing in life to be happy about, however, it’s something I want so much so it stings a bit and makes me question what the purpose and point for my life is.

Does anybody else create entire fake scenarios in their head before falling asleep?

• Upvotes

Sometimes I’ll lie in bed and spend an hour imagining completely fictional situations that will probably never happen.

Arguments where I come up with the perfect response, conversations with people I haven’t spoken to in years, or entire versions of my future that exist only in my head.

The crazy part is that I can get so invested that I actually feel the emotions associated with these imaginary situations.

Then I realize I’ve been lying in the dark for an hour arguing with someone who isn’t even
there. 😭

DAE find portable speakers (bluetooth ones) in public obnoxious unless they're being used for street performances, theme parks or places where music actually adds to the atmosphere?

for example: beaches(ofc debatable), public transopport, and in general just blasting music in lets say a park

Does anybody else repeat what you just said, but with a different intonation?

I've noticed that I have a tendency to repeat what I've just said to someone. Usually I repeat last couple of words in a sentence, with same loudness but with different intonation, while breaking eye contact and looking somewhere else.

It usually happens when I'm explaining or discussing something, particularly when sharing my opinion.

I wonder how common it is? Does this have a word? What might be the reasons for such behavior?

DAE have a friend who is too sarcastic? Like every response is laced in sarcasm and you can never truly have a deep/authentic moment with them?

DAE experience this kind of mood pattern?

For years, my mood has fluctuated up and down, but most days I feel at a low ā€œmehā€ baseline rather than genuinely happy. On occasion, I might have 1–2 better days where I feel good, more motivated, and less irritable, but usually my mood shifts throughout the day depending on what happens.

Sometimes a small comment or interaction can suddenly make me feel irritated, hurt, disconnected, or significantly lower than I felt moments before. Other times, music, exciting plans, attention, or something new can make me feel noticeably better, but the feeling often fades, and I return to my usual baseline. I also struggle with feeling dissatisfied or emotionally empty even when nothing particularly bad is happening.

I’m trying to understand whether this sounds like emotional dysregulation, a depressive pattern with mood fluctuations, or something else.

Does anyone relate to this? What are your mood fluctuations like, and have you figured out what causes them?

Does anybody else open social media for a quick break and suddenly realize an hour has passed?

Do you think these apps are designed to keep us scrolling, or have we just lost the ability to take a proper break? What's the longest you've accidentally scrolled?

DAE wonder if goosebumps actually scared us back then, or if we just liked the thrill of pretending?

I was talking with my buddy about nostalgic childhood stuff today, and those classic horror book came up in conversation. We were laughing about how obsessed everyone was with reading them under the blankets after lights out. It got me thinking about whether those monster stories truly gave us chills, or if part of the fun was just staying up late and scaring ourselves on purpose because it made us feel grown up.

Does anybody else feel like the spooky atmosphere under the blanket was scarier than the actual book plots?

DAE feels nostalgic about moments that were clearly sad/stressful?

About 6 months ago I had high school final exams and that wasn't a good time for me. I didn't perform well and it was a stressful time. Yet—today I feel nostalgic for that time

DAE feel incapable of sincerity?

I had been going back and forth on how best to describe this feeling but I feel as though I have completely destroyed the part of my brain that's responsible for treating things with earnest and reverence. When I have conversations I have to punctuate any remark that brushes too closely to sincerity with a joke, I have to be a bitter asshole about things that don't matter and flippant about things that do matter. It is very very hard to break this habit because even if I were to say this to a person in front of me I doubt I could without making some kind of snarky comment about myself to diffuse any possible tension.

Ironically this is the most sincere thing I've said all week. My heart just doesn't feel in it. Someone says they love me and I can't even bring myself to respond in that moment, even if I do love them (maybe in my own way). I never get annoyed or passionate about things that warrant annoyance or passion and any real feeling I have seems very short-lived. Even the dread I feel at being a social prisoner of my own habits is short lived and it feels like I can only push it through from the inside by slapping my fingers on keys like a puppet and hoping what I say makes sense.

There is a one-way mirror between me and other people where I completely understand them and where they are coming from and know that I should help them when they need it, but it isn't reciprocated, even when I try and try and try to reclarify what I mean it never quite hits the mark. It feels like internally I am talking normally but externally I'm hooing and haaing like a chimp.

DAE use suicidal ideation as a coping mechanism?

Just curious I was severely depressed when I was much younger since then suicidal ideation has become a coping mechanism for me to a point like I have a full plan and know how I would do it and when I get depressed I always know "hey if it gets too much I could do that with ease" to relieve stress and continue carrying on, like knowing I always have an out allows me to continue pushing myself. I haven't heard or don't know of anyone else who does that and I have no plans to actually unalive myself but it's become like a pathological reflex to use and think about that as a coping mechanism to continue carrying on with my days. Curious if anyone else has had it become a coping mechanism for them rather then something they are actually considering doing

DAE ever think about how crazy it is that we can just order things straight to our door?

I just purchased a weighted blanket, melatonin gummies, and a new top right from my phone and it will be here later today because of my proximity to a warehouse. Crazy! I’m just wondering if anyone else ever just takes a moment to marvel at this kind of stuff, just recalling how people in the past just COULDN’T! We are so spoiled.

DAE feel more productive planning to do something than actually doing it?

I’ll spend 45 minutes organizing my to-do list, setting reminders, and figuring out the perfect order to get everything done.
Then I’ll look at my beautifully organized list, feel like I’ve accomplished something, and take a break.
Three hours later, nothing’s done, but at least the list looks professional.
Apparently my brain thinks planning the work counts as doing the work.

Does anybody else have moments where their skin feels highly uncomfortable

Sometimes when my mental health is bad or I have episodes, my skin becomes very uncomfortable and it almost feels like I need to do something painful to it to stop the feeling even though I know it probably wont help. It just feels very uncomfortable and it almost feels like there's a layer of static between my muscles and skin.
