DAE get cringed out when someone is venting or complaining?

I don’t know why, but when someone keeps saying they “can’t do this, can’t do that, they feel too tired, they’re too sad” I feel the need to roll my eyes. I have always sucked it up and I’ve been raised to do so. I hate being around people who, for example, have a huge project due and they decide they need to take a nap. Or they keep mentioning how they’re sleepy and want to go home. I could do a project for 50 hours straight and I’d never complain. It honestly angers me. I lose all respect for people like that. What’s wrong with me?

DAE hold up the pointer, middle, and pinkie finger when counting 3 on your fingers?

I can't put the first 3 fingers up at once for some reason, so when counting 3 on my fingers I put up the first, second, and fourth ones. Just me or anyone else?

DAE Is there anyone else who can achieve an orgasm by climbing or hanging from a bar?

To satisfy myself, I hang from a pull-up bar and raise and lower my legs until I feel an intense tingling sensation that grows stronger and stronger, eventually leading to an orgasm. I first experienced this as a child: while pulling myself up on a climbing bar, I lifted my legs, and my entire body became extremely tense. Just before reaching total exhaustion—as my arms began to tremble—this powerful, blissful feeling set in and spread throughout my whole body. I didn’t know what it was, but I wanted to experience it again and again, so I kept returning to the climbing bar to recreate those sensations. Do any of you recognize this? I would love to meet other men who also masturbate in this way.

DAE get put off by magic and illusions?

• Upvotes

I am talking about magic performances where magicians use sleight-of-hand and other techniques to wow an audience.

I don't like it.

I am impressed with the skill and years of training to accomplish the feats through showmanship, but I don't like it due to the inherent secrecy it demands.

You might say that I am insecure because I can't figure out how they did a trick, but really I have no interest in figuring it out (even after stating this, I know there will be passive-aggressive comments saying exactly this).

Magicians to me just have a foundation of arrogance. Even the kindest of magicians base their livelihood on deception.

There is already enough deception and secrecy when it comes to politics and business in the world, and nobody likes those things.

But we are wowed by magicians who perform a card trick? If a magician comes up to me and asks if I want to see a trick, I would tell them that they either interact with me as a truthful and authentic person, or to leave me alone.

I just don't like secrecy and deception. It is slimy and manipulative by nature, yet it is disguised as fun and playful when done with magic tricks.

The only reason that I can see magic as useful is that by studying it, you can train your brain to pick up on patterns to help you better identify fraud and deception in your everyday life.

I just don't like the elitist "I know something you don't, and I will never tell you" mentality.

But I do give respect to people who openly teach others how tricks are performed, and also teach people how to protect yourself from manipulators.

Anyway, that's just me. Anybody else?

DAE have a "peak" life phase that was significantly better than the others?

For me it was elementary school. The only time in my life I had a close group of friends and no mental health problems whatsoever. Sometimes it feels like my life has been in slow but steady decline since then. I know nostalgia bias exists and all but I genuinely believe that phase was objectively the best of my life (so far, hopefully). Can anyone relate?

does anybody else draw the line at people taking their socks off on a plane

shoes off i get. long flight, feet swell, nobody wants to sit for hours in tight shoes.

but socks off is a different level for me. bare feet out in a tight cabin where everyone is stuck breathing the same air. and then some people walk to the bathroom barefoot which is a whole other thing i cannot unsee.

is it just me being extra or is there an unwritten line here. shoes ok, socks stay on, bare feet never touch anything public.

what is the worst you have seen on a flight

DAE feel like people born in 2007-2009 missed out on a better time to grow up?

I'm 17, born in 2009, and sometimes I really wish I was born in 2002 or something.

Idk, maybe it's just nostalgia, but I feel like everything was different before 2020. The internet, memes and the whole vibe.

People who was born in early 2000s at least had some normal teenage years before all that shit like covid and other stuff happened before. And now people born in 2007-2009 are becomin adults in a world full of wars, economic problems and can't even know what's in the future.

Like, really, I'm turning 18 soon, but honestly? I'm worried more than happy.

I know yeah, the world wasn't perfect back then. But sometimes I really think I missed somethin. Like, we were too young enjoying those years, now we're finally growing up, everything feels so different.

Does anyone feel this way? And people around 2000-2003, was it actually better back then or am I just wearin pink glasses?

DAE wake up and realise they’re no longer wearing the clothes they remember going to sleep in?

I woke up this morning and realised I was only wearing my boxer briefs. The weird thing is, I swear I vividly remember lying down last night wearing my pants. I’m not just vaguely remembering it either; I can actually picture myself lying there with them on.

Eventually, I found my pants placed on my chair, but I have absolutely no memory of taking them off or putting them there.

It’s such a weird feeling because I genuinely remember wearing them when I went to bed, yet I have no idea how I woke up only wearing my boxer briefs.

DAE feel like permant DST vs permant standard time is evening people vs early bird fight?

Now I know some early birds prefer DST while others prefer Standard time. And some evening people prefer Standard time over DST.

But overall, the pattern seems have Standard time being heavily favored by early birds while DST is preferred by evening people.

DAE ever think about their family members, extended family members, and categorize them?

Tldr at the end, the upcoming text is for context, you dont have to read it if you know what I'm talking about. Id like to hear your thoughts.

-- --

I can tell about the different parenting styles the many parents in my family have.

I like profiling the fathers.

For example one of my uncle seems like he could be the family annihilater type. I thought it could be my dad, as impulsive as he is, but he has a litte too much love for us despite our flaws.

I dont see enough love from my uncle to his kids as much as I see him trying to push his dreams and aspirations onto them. He fights with his wife to bend her to his will, to parent the kids the "right" way. I can see he has a certain standard, and no one is meeting it, and it is breaking him.

He's a good person with good intentions but I fear he has it in him to also snap. Maybe he'd think "i can marry someone else and try again, this time I'll do better".

Circumstances have to be in the exact place for it to happen, which is why I think itll never happen.

Another set of parents, the mother is an emotionally manipulative narcissist, while the father is highly explosive, a ticking time bomb that literally shakes the house with his yells and screams. But he cares, so much, too much.

My adopted sisters parents, mother was killed. She was trapped in an unfortunate situation but was surrounded by people who kept pushing her back in the abusive relationship, eventually she was killed because the father lost control.

All it took was just the right amount of anger, he squeezed the life out of her.

Probably always thought he was right and that she was "fighting" him. She was only 22.

May he rot in prison.

My parents are probably the best set of parents in the family.

Uneducated, traumatized mother, passed on the trauma to me but had more kids and miraculously learned so much that she's a great mother now.

My dad, cares and has good intentions but he cant control his anger for the life of him, always thinks he's right, has too much pride and cant own up to anything, emotionally blunt.

For another set, the father (my dads brother) is the meek one of the pair. He cant stand up to his wife. His wife is overpowering, narcissist like hell, manipulative and a little crazy, blames everyone and everything, highly paranoid. I get a little scared around her because God knows what shes thinking and what impression im giving off.

I don't think theres a single set of genuienly caring, hardworking, kind and understanding parents in our family.

Theres 6 sets on my moms side, 4 on my dads.

And then my friends parents, similar culture, so similar type of parents.

Old school parents that cant seem to let go of their strict rules that only apply to their country. Father is unpredictable, explosive, dismissive, has too much pride. Mother walks in fathers footsteps. Cant do or approve anything without his approval. Paranoid, distrusting. My friend has nobody to lean on but herself.

Tl;dr: And now if youve made it to the end and this post doesn't get removed,

What patterns have you noticed in your families?

DAE spend all of their time just waiting to die?

I’ve had treatment resistant depression since I was a child and I haven’t experienced happiness once in my entire adult life. My entire waking existence is just robotically going through the motions while I wait to die.

Does anybody else feel like this?

HAE in the US become more of a picky eater as our food quality has declined?

I've never been a picky eater. I've always had some things I disliked and a select few I hated, but otherwise I was happy to eat pretty much anything. But in recent years, I've found myself becoming more picky with food. In my head I find myself saying "this is gross" far more often than I used to, sometimes even questioning whether or not I should be putting xyz food in my body. Even fruits and veggies, which I've never had issues with before, are now oftentimes giving me the ick.

DAE like/love their body scars?

I've picked at my skin so much that I have a bunch of brown spots all over my body, whether it be from acne, scratches, circular wounds from whatever injury I got, or due to getting stung by a nest of wasps last month.

And they don't bother me. I actually like them. That isn't to say that I purposely go and scar my body whenever I have wounds, but when I do get them, they don't bother me and I actually enjoy having them. I think they're cool and a bit beautiful in a way.

dae get random bursts of motivation late at night?

I just went through my notes app and found a bunch of brilliant ideas I wrote down at 3am last night and they all sound like a different person wrote them. When I'm tired, I'm convinced I can conquer the world but once I've had coffee, I just want to take a nap. it like this a common thing where the night self is way more ambitious and active than the day self. I'd love to know if there's a way to actually bottle this 1am motivation and use it during business hours.

DAE feel like weekends are just two days of recovering from the previous week?

I spend Monday to Friday waiting for the weekend, then Saturday disappears doing chores and errands. Sunday is suddenly here, and instead of feeling refreshed, I'm already thinking about Monday. Is adulthood just an endless cycle of working, recovering and repeating

Does anybody else need a break after socializing, even with people they love?

DAE have a really hard time doing things while being watched?

I just started a job and they’re having us share our screens while we work and I feel like it’s making my brain go blank lol

Doing things alone is so much easier, but with a pair of eyes it’s like “…wait do I put the cube in the square hole or the star shaped one??” Anyone else?

DAE get excited about plans, then immediately wish they could stay home when the day arrives?

I'll look forward to meeting people all week, but when it's finally time to get ready, suddenly my bed, snacks and peace of mine sound way better. Why is making plans so fun, but actually leaving the house such a struggle? Anyone else like this?

DAE stay up even when they're exhausted because going to sleep feels like ending the only part of the day that was actually yours?

I keep doing this and I’m starting to realize it’s not even because I’m not tired.

I’ll be exhausted all day.

Tell myself, tonight I’m actually sleeping early.

Then night finally comes.

Nobody needs anything from me. No work. No classes. No messages I have to answer. No responsibilities.

And suddenly going to sleep feels like…

giving up my free time.

So I start bargaining with myself.

“I’ll sleep in 20 minutes.”

“One more video.”

“I barely got any time for myself today.”

Then somehow it’s 2am.

The stupid part is I KNOW I’m borrowing that time from tomorrow. I wake up tired, the next day feels worse, I get less done, and then when nighttime comes I feel like I deserve even more time to myself.

So it just loops.

I’m curious if other people do this too:

are you actually unable to sleep early, or do you kind of… not want the day to end yet?

And if you used to do this but stopped, what actually changed?
