After 9 YouTube videos, 40 hours, and countless Reddit posts, comments, and discussions. I've FINALLY got a run where I don't get absolutely obliterated by the heat. Walking into Tier 2 a wilted mess.
I cannot help with what to do when you're already sick. But I can give you the goods on not getting sick in the first place.
The Strat
Spawn in. Find a water truck immediately.
You need a the hydration level to be White-Full, once that is achieved. Your Heat Stroke Bar stops accumulating while it's at White-Full.
Hydration Values
Yellow: 300 - 1000
White-Low: 1000 - 3500
White-Full: 3500 - 5000
Trust me, you need White-Full-Full. A full 5000 before setting off.
While staving off a full belly of water, about roughly ~4 or more of them until you get White-Full. Wash your face.
1 cycle of hand washing at the spout or .5 ml of water will trigger a 30-sec cycle. In this time, your heat stroke meter will be lowered. Set a stop watch on your phone, because triggering it too soon will only extend the cooldown with no effects otherwise.
After you've achieved White-Full, you can start to move around like normal DayZ.
There's 2 caveats though:
(1) If you're already sick, you'll have to take additional actions. You're already compromised, and the heat stroke meter will continue to append.
(2) If your temp gauge goes in the red, you start taking heat stroke accumulation again.
That's it! I'll give some additional commentary below, buts it's definitely going to be A LOT of extra's. It's a long read to an already long post - you've been warned.
Additional information
With that, I recommend you walk up to the spout and wash your face first thing.
Get your drinks in between, and hit the wash face every 30 sec. You'll be here for a long time. You'll be dealing with waiting out the full belly sign, this is where you can loot around. Maybe catch some shade.
Come to realize that the Heat Stroke Meter is unlike ANY DayZ experience. Get the idea out of your head this is "Hot Sakhal" if you haven't already, which I assume you have lol.
This map is far gnarlier. Especially for DayZ vets.
Historically speaking, we have come to depend on reliable guages and systems in the past.
Food and Water above red? - we're happy.
Hands covered / blood washed? - happy.
Wet and Cold? - catch a heat buff, ring em out - solid.
Sakhal comes along. We soon realize that you spawn in, and you've got about 20 mins before even chopping that first piece of bark. Added insulation and clothing status into the mix.. things are starting to accumulate but hey? You're a certified Sakhal Master now, with honors!
Nasdara
Catch a fully belly of water. Drench the threads. Sit in the shade until temp gauge is white - certified Sultan..
Right?
Absolutely not.
First and foremost, there is no handy dandy gauge on the fill em up to full bar for this thing. Even the temp gauge, which was supposed to be the A+ go to thing in all of this.. just like Sakhal, but Opposite Day.. has such little impact, it's almost confusing as hell.
Temp gauge isn't worthless, but it's pretty much just an indicator of your internal temp. Lets you know which areas catch you heat stroke faster, lets you know when your water is not being retained as good, and most usefully maybe - shows you when it's red.
One important thing, and albeit confusing - just know, that while the Temp gauge and invisible Heat Stroke Meter are two very different things. They seem to both accumulate / decline in similar areas, the rates at which the Heat Stroke Meter do are a mystery to me though. I have no idea how many times a guy should wash their face or how long to sit in the shade.
But from what I assume.. it's an absolute ton.
But with that, just know that a guy with red temperature values can be absolutely the furthest away from catching heat sickness. While a guy in nothing but white temperature gauge values can be on the brink of it.
Character wiping sweat = you're accumulating heat stroke meter is going up fast asf boi. And you don't want to be sitting in that zone for too long.
There's 2 phases in this map though. And that's before the visit to the first water truck, and everything after that. Because that first White-Full-Full is the springboard to the rest of the run.
This map is so ungodly dependent on you having and retaining White-Full-Full, there is no other reason for anything else without it. Not 1 piece of loot matters otherwise, when your stomach drops to even White-Low. Because if you don't find water soon to get back, you're now running the map at a massive handicap against you.
While you're there, get rid of a lot of the heat stroke you've already built up. Just in case later down the road, if you end up at White-Low, you'll be topped as much as possible's.
I recommend avoiding even one piece of Medium insulation before the truck. Because you have to realize, that as soon as you spawn in?
You're already in a hyper-critical state, at the default level. You need water like last week. Seriously.
Understand that maybe a gun and a weapon, maybe a backpack.. and definitely a water container. Are the only things you might want to snag before finding the truck.
That truck is mission #1 though. Because if you can't find one, you're almost looking at an F11 situation the way I see it.
After you've got the credentials to start moving though? This is when shit like Wet Clothing and the Temp Gauge matter so much more I feel like.
Wet Clothing to reduce your temp to retain water, and temp gauge to shows if you're in the red, which you'll be surprised at how often that happens once you're out there moving around with a full hydration meter.
The loot on the map can usually supplement the White-Full meter in hydration. Save your water for washing your face. Do it maybe once every ~3 or so times you get caught in the red, which when I do I'm only at it for a minute tops.
Sprinting becomes a treat, because it gets you in the red almost certainly a lot of times. Hit the shade, strip down, and wait it out.
After that springboard, you really can start to roll around like old DayZ. But you're still taking shadow routes whenever you can. And sometimes having 4 water bottles isn't enough man.
I've gone hours without seeing another truck on a lot of runs. Sometimes I've seen em b2b towns. They're dynamic-static spawns. Meaning they spawn in set locations, but never at a fixed rate. And I believe there's multiple locations they can spawn per town.
Let me know your thoughts!
