discussion Bohemia, PLEASE disable vehicle collision damage..

The motorcycles are complete death traps. I died last night simply pushing my bike, bumping a sandbag at less than 1kmph.

The easiest solution would be for Bohemia to simply disable vehicle collision damage dealt to players. Sure, it would break immersion seeing people driving their vehicles like maniacs, but that is better than the current alternative.. dying to the softest bumps imaginable.

We spend far too much time repairing vehicles to have it all ripped away by simply tipping over while barely moving.

discussion Nasdara PSA. Find a paper map and you'll be able to find water everywhere + extra bonus fact.

I was looking at the in-game map and noticed that small dark rectangles seemed to match the location of water irrigation ditches.

All ditches so far that I've come across have matched up exactly with the map locations.

They're hard to make out, but once you see them, you'll start to notice them all over the map.

See the potato photo below for examples.

The dark rectangles are easy to miss but look carefully and they're there.

Bonus fact:

There's a compass on the maps as well. In the lower left hand corner. The dial/arrow always points in the direction that you're facing.

The only source of water i’ve found are the watertrucks, the first handful of survivors i met we’re friendly but after the first night, desperation started to set in now everyone is bloodthirsty and staying hidden until nightfall. its fun being lost again, but not so fun being sunburnt. Looking forward to the future.

discussion Is the "sun sickness" incurable?

In short: I really like the map, but I find the sun sickness to be an incredibly annoying burden. I’m playing on a PlayStation community server that offers ways to get into water or refill at a well; yet, despite constantly drinking, staying in the shade, and washing my face, I haven’t managed to cure this illness. Are you experiencing the same thing? Have any of you managed to cure it? What do you know about it?

Update: After the saline solution, I recovered immediately.

discussion Is DayZ worth getting into as a complete beginner? Thinking about buying Frostline and Badlands

I've always wanted to get into DayZ because I love the idea of surviving in a harsh world, but every time I've tried playing it, I've struggled to get into it.

I've played a decent amount, but I always seem to run into the same problems. I struggle to find food, water, and weapons, and the game can feel pretty confusing and punishing when you're new. I feel like I'm spending more time struggling to survive than actually getting to experience what makes DayZ fun.

I'm interested in giving it another proper shot, and I've been looking at the Frostline and Badlands DLCs. However, I'm not sure if it's worth buying them when I'm still a beginner and haven't really gotten into the base game yet.

For those of you who have been playing for a while, is DayZ worth sticking with as a new player, or is the learning curve just too brutal at first? Does it eventually click once you learn the maps and mechanics, or is it always a constant struggle to find basic supplies?

I'd also appreciate any tips for getting started, finding food and water, and making progress without constantly dying. And would you recommend sticking with the base game until I get the hang of it before buying any DLCs?

I'd love to get into DayZ, but I want to know if it's worth pushing through that initial learning curve. Thanks!

The new motorcycles are fun but super buggy, I've now died twice by being flung into the atmosphere, nevertheless the amount of crashes that weren't my fault.

Support New Codelocks and Base building cause a huge bug!

PSA for Nasdara server owners: locks on rebuilt houses can bloat building_001.bin to ~2 GB and wipe all player structures (DZG-1404)

If your Nasdara server suddenly freezes for a few seconds every minute, or player-rebuilt walls and doors vanish after a restart, check the size of mpmissions/dayzOffline.nasdara/storage_1/data/building_001.bin.

What happened on my server:

building_001.bin grew from 460 MB to 1.8 GB in under an hour, with the same number of entries. The server froze for 10–20 s roughly every 70 s, with constant rubber-banding and broken inventory. At some point the file couldn’t be written or read anymore (Failed to write / valid:NO in the RPT), and all rebuilt structures on the map were gone.

Cause: Locks (code locks and combination locks) on rebuildable houses. Their slot lists get duplicated on every world load, up to millions of entries. Bug report: DZG-1404 on the Bohemia tracker. Please upvote it or add your data.

What fixed it for me:

Restored a backup where the file was still under 2 GB, and cleaned out the duplicate entries (462 MB → 3 MB, all bases back).

Removed all locks from rebuilt houses in-game. Since then the file stays small, there are no errors, and server FPS is stable.

Until Bohemia fixes it: Don’t put locks on rebuilt houses. Check the file size after restarts, and keep backups from when the file was still small. Restoring a bloated backup alone won’t help, because it keeps doubling.

I hope this helps.

Discussion Constant heat stroke

I get that it’s supposed to be a warm map, but there is genuinely no need for how often you have to get shade or water. I was playing with my friends and we spent 2 hours just hiding in shade because it was too hot outside, even though we had worst insulation on everything

Fair enough if it was every 20-30 mins or so, but every 5 minutes you are constantly having to find shade and worry about heat stroke.

I love the map itself, absolutely great addition to DayZ and I love the new items, vehicles and apparel, and I’m not sure if I’m just being overly picky about the heat, but yeah it’s to the point where it’s genuinely unplayable during the daytime of Nasdara

discussion *possible spoilers* Nasdara appreciation post Spoiler

I have spent some 30 hours on Nasdara and I have to say the more I play it, the more I like it. At first I was kinda afraid that this is just Takistan 2.0, but playing it proved me wrong.

This map was made from the scratch topologically speaking to support DayZ gameplay and it does show! There is also enough of new assets and interesting points of interest to not feel just like reskin. And the danger of heatstroke coupled with water being kinda scarce adds nice layer of survival. Btw this makes me sad Sakhal was not give the same treatment, but oh well.

Some folks are annoyed the many of civilian huts are reused assets. I mean they are, but they were based on real life counterparts in the first place. Would remaking them just to make them very slightly different be worth the effort? I'm glad we got new police station, medical center, firestation, some offices, couple of mansions & palaces and more. I think we got enough of new stuff to keep us interested for a reasonably long time.

Hopefully devs will patch out bugs like some loot spawning high above the ground or below it. Optimalize those buildings removed from Nasdara city and put them back etc.

Btw I'm not saying Nasdara is perfect, but I say it is damn worth the price!!!

Discussion Cooling idea for Badlands…

As we have heat packs for the colder climate maps on DayZ, why not introduce an ice pack/cooling pack to Badlands?

Same mechanic but in reverse.

As the lack of water to cool off (heatstroke) is killing me…
