Hi, I have not been self harming for long, maybe 3-4 months and even then not that frequent but the amount of relief it provides is insane. I’m diagnosed with Major depressive disorder and I also have a lot of anxiety. I’ve been clean for about a month but I’ve come very close to self harming a fee, and I’m not sure how to stop it from happening in the future :( sorry I’m not really sure why I’m making this post, kinda confused. Also attached picture, not sure what layer it is but I suspect styro.

So for context, I'm a fairly new to cutting with a blade. I've self-harmed a lot as a kid, but usually not deep enough to leave scars (scratching with nails, etc.) but now I have marks on my wrists.
I haven't been to school in about a month (psychiatric hold) and when I can finally go, I DEFINITELY want to cover my scars because well... I'd rather not show other people. I get that scars are nothing to be ashamed of, and I love seeing people showcase their own scars, but I'm just not comfortable with that yet. I have bandages and tape, which are my main tools to cover scars, but I suck at putting them on. Some of the wounds are also fresh, so I can't really use make-up on them. My teachers sometimes make us remove jackets since it's really hot in our classroom, so wearing long sleeves isn't full proof.
Basically, what I'm asking is:
Can someone please teach me how to use bandages properly so they don't fall off?
What are other ways to cover wounds/scars?

A doctor might have to see this thigh soon. Please be honest. I can’t deal with being reported.
(also please don’t make this a trend, I don’t want to be that person)

I don’t feel valid with my self harm, it’s not long enough and or good enough compared to others. It’s mostly on my left arm and I know that some will scar and a few already have since I pick them often- I don’t want to get better I really just want long cuts in a line that look like how sh usually presents itself. Also maybe my cuts aren’t deep enough but they don’t protrude outward like others do and they don’t turn white??

I recently relapsed and cut again after not cutting for, like, two years, so I forgot how long they take to heal. And, like an idiot, I did it in a somewhat obvious place (my pants and socks mostly cover them). They’re about a day old now and still super red and obvious.

This is what 16 years of cutting can look like, and that’s not including my legs. I am always on high alert whenever I go out in short sleeves, whether it’s people’s looks or more scarily is the possibility of being harassed by people who don’t understand.
It’s tough out here folks! Sending love to you all 🫶🏻

These are year old scars and I have been clean for over 4 months now! Wondering if people can tell when I am not wearing long sleeves, since my family has never noticed.

I relapsed yesterday night and I didn’t bleed, it was more of just like an eraser burn type thing, still hurts. but it’s visible and idk how to cover it up from my parents who said if I relapse again they’re sending me to a mental health facility. help me please!! Sorry should’ve mentioned! It’s on both sides of my left arm and on my left thigh. Not many cuts but noticeable ones

Ive been having some really big fears of my future and how my love life will be. I have a very big idea of how I wish to live my life as i want to get married and find a man who loves me as a whole. Im scared the scars will be there and be very obvious as ive never gone too deep but my thigh is all scar tissue and its obvious ive cut for a decently long time, everyone ive been with either fetishizes or just tells me to not do it anymore which everyone knows is a very hard thing as it is an addiction. I guess my point of the post is for some people to give their opinions on it because i feel like ill never fund someone who loves me and doesn't hate the scars or have a fetish for them.

It helps to a degree, but I just feel like I'd be less ashamed of people seeing this if it were the real deal than this sharpie drawing which just feels childish...

Get a jug of skin-safe liquid latex, spread it out thin onto a large flat surface, and roll it into a big ball. You can cut this ball in half and cut the latex. It’s EXACTLY like skin, cheap, and lasts forever. Hopefully it distracts you long enough or makes you feel better so the urge leaves :)
Also doing thick sfx makeup(latex+tissue 8+ layers) and cutting that. You could put fake blood in between layers. I’m not sure if this is would promote your brain to do it more or what?? But if nothing else works why not try it.

my dad was yelling at me in the car and threatening to hurt me the whole time but the only thing on my mind was sh and killing myself to prove a point. when i got home i immediately went to my bedroom and i usually do cat scratches but i was pushing really deep while recklessly dragging and accidentally pulled my skin and saw white. ive seen heaps of serious posts about people and white cuts and i'm so scared because i don't want scars on my arm. i always wish scars could stay but it's a lie i don't want this to scar and i have no idea what to do and i kept wiping it with a tissue but it kept bleeding and will it scar, what do i do, do i need stitches or special bandages like its never gone this far for me i wish i did it on my thigh because at least people can't see it. idk why i even did this like its just to get my dad to feel bad for me but he doesn't even know i did this so there was no point and im so mad that i did it on my arm and even did this like bro

I've heard you shouldn't use toilet paper or tissues for fresh cuts I'm assuming because it can get stuck to the dried blood, what else can you use? Preferably household items.. I can't use gauze.
Edit: I mean for when there's too many in one area for a bandaid sorry I forgot to clarify

Today, my bf, now ex bf, broke up with me. I relapsed pretty badly. My whole leg bleeding type of thing… I usually go deeper when it’s my legs (since I always wear long pants), but yeah.
I felt like it was out of the blue. Like, we were good together?? Idk why he just wants to remain friends… it took me 3h to reply and when I did, I broke down crying and relapsed.
The worst is that I’ve just told my friends about this guy, yesterday. Think I’m going to wait a bit before telling them cuz it would be embarrassing for me.
I don’t even know why I reacted that way. We were dating that long (a few weeks). I shouldn’t felt such a strong reaction from that. Idk if I’ll be able to remain friends with him. I like him and all, but it would break my heart even more to be near him.
Just leaving it out there since I’m obviously not going to talk about it to anyone.

So, I'm using this as a throw-away account, but I guess I just wanted to talk about this. I just turned 18 and the first time I self-harmed was when I was 15, though it was only a few times (cutting and burning) and I pretty much stopped immediately, so it never became a particularly big problem. However, at the end of the last school year (Year 12), I started cutting; I'm not sure exactly why, but I think it stemmed largely from stress and a deep sense of self-hatred after I messed up in a friendship and thus lost one of my closest friends and I just generally feel like I barely have any friends left. Anyway, I stopped over the summer because I was at my grandparents' house and couldn't really self-harm or hide it properly whilst I was there (staying clean was honestly a massive struggle) and I pretty much started again as soon as I got back to my parents' house.
The thing is, I feel like up to a few weeks ago I was still genuinely struggling, to the point where the notion of having to do my schoolwork and essays did make me feel like I would rather die and led to self-harm a few times, but I don't know why I'm doing so right now. I have coursework which is overdue and I just mentally cannot get myself to do it, but I'm mentally not doing badly, yet my brain is still viewing self-harm as being somewhere between a punishment and a source of motivation (like, if I cut myself then I'll be able to get work done or it means that it's okay if I haven't done it because it's kind of 'valid') and I don't really know what's going on in my brain.
And there's a part of me that just wants to get worse, but I also physically can't cut myself deeper and I don't really know what to do, but there's a part of me that only feels valid and as though it's okay that I'm not being productive if the cuts actually start bleeding again, if that makes sense. I don't know, I guess I was just wondering if anyone else is going through the same kind of thing. My arm has stopped bleeding as much as it used to and it's making me feel worse about myself and it's also making it harder for me to get work done. Sorry, I guess I mainly just wanted to rant because I feel like there's nobody that I can talk to about this in my real life.

By thinking of it as art, I keep my mind in a normal mind. I wonder if the day will come when I can become normal

I have severe OCD causing significantly high numbers of self harm, usually styros. I don't know how to care for them. I have no gauze that I can take without parents noticing and even if I could it would maybe cover like 1/8th or something. I've been applying cream and putting paper towels on top (the area cut is the size of a piece of paper towel) then adding a compression bandage around it. It's been 24 hours an has finally stopped bleeding but is uncovered. I don't know what to use to cover it, I'm worried about infection as it's such a big area.
Can anyone suggest other things I could use or how to deal with it safely?/is it fine to be uncovered now? The paper towel has been sticking and it really hurts.

for years I just do baby cuts but recently I get a big cut and i felt scared. that happens like 3 months ago and my scar looks too pink and meaty? so I think the possibility my cut was needed to be stitch at first but with the time it just healed by itself. I just don't wanna go to the hospital cuz sh is my most embarrassing secret
