Discussion Is This Overkill?
Hi everyone,
So right now I have a GF65 Thin 9SE-013 laptop, which is super old, but it’s still doing its job. I’ve noticed it can’t really handle any newer games, which is kinda obvious, so I’m planning to get a PC.
I went to buildcores.com to build one. I’m not really into building PCs, I just like playing games, so I only know the basics and kinda just put stuff together. Since BuildCores has a compatibility feature I figured it’d be fine, but if anything’s off I’d love advice on swapping any of the parts.
Here’s my build list:
CASE
Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower Black Tempered Glass Side Panel: $59.99
CPU
AMD Ryzen 5 9600X: $177.99
Motherboard
Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX AM5 DDR5 ATX WIFI: $139.99
GPU
ASUS PRIME GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 OC Edition: $855.99
RAM
Crucial Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6400 CL38 Black: $309.99
CPU Cooler
Thermalright Phantom Spirit EVO Air 157mm Black 69 CFM: $46.90
Storage
Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD 2280 1TB: $156.77
Power Supply
MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850W Fully Modular 80+ Gold Certified: $109.99
Case Fan
HYTE FA12 Fans 4-Pack Pitch Black: $29.99
Thermal Compound
Corsair XTM70 3g Thermal Paste: $19.99
Operating System
Microsoft Windows 11 | USB: $128.99
Anyways, all the specs are done, so is this overkill? I hate to say it, but the only games I play are Roblox and Minecraft (because they’re the only ones my friends play), plus maybe some less demanding games my laptop can handle.
But now that I have a Meta Quest 3, I want to play some VR games. I already got a few, but it seems like my laptop can’t really handle them. I’d also like to play other games that are on the heavier side.
So should I downgrade or upgrade some of my PC parts? cause HOLY, these parts are costing me an arm and a leg. I’d also like to save money but still be able to play newer games as they come out.
