xiaomi vs apple tablet for note taking in uni

i’m a bio student in desperate need for a tablet to take notes, store study materials and slides and just a better studying set up. i also plan to read research papers, annotate and combine methods for my own learning.
i already own a MacBook and iPhone, and i wouldn’t want to give in to spending double the price on an iPad just for the sake of the ecosystem. i’m also on a really tight budget and saving up for an iPad would take me way too long whereas a Xiaomi Pad 8 would ease my learning almost immediately at a very affordable price. Also the Xiaomi Pad 8 is in general a very good device for its price!

i’m just curious, what constraints could i stumble upon if i get the xiaomi that would genuinely make me regret getting an android over an iPad??

I’d appreciate any help.

Looking for a budget friendly tablet

• Upvotes

Hi! I hope this is the right place to post this.

I'm looking for a budget friendly tablet for someone who would mostly use it to do gaming, watching YouTube and Netflix. They play mostly android games on more lightweight side on their phone, but if possible I okviru they would also play other stuff, basically as much as the tablet allows (they play WoW and Runescape on their PC all the time). They're not fussy about the brand, except that it really should be android.

My budget is however low: 250€ max

I'm looking for basically the max I can get for that money. I'm from Slovenia so I can buy from local stores or from german amazon (amazon.de).

Thanks in advance!

A cheap tablet with a screen size of at least 13", just for presentations

• Upvotes

Hi, everyone. I have a specific need: I need to get a tablet that’s at least 13" and very affordable. I’ll only be using it during some work meetings where I ONLY need to show slides or mind maps. I already have an iPad for productivity, but I need a bigger screen for this purpose. At most, I might use it to watch movies, taking advantage of the larger screen. I’ve seen the Teclast tablets on AliExpress—what do you think?

I'm so in love with my Lenovo yoga tab plus gen 2, I can't suggest it enough

I can't explain how much I've been enjoying drawing on it coming from an iPad.

The pen feedback is insane! It feels like I'm drawing on paper and there's no paper like screen protector!

You ever eat something so good you have to look at the ingredients on the box? I did that with pen because I was blown away.

The only cons so far are that not all art apps support that function and the forcing of ai (you can disable it, i did <3)

Besides that I'm surprised I haven't seen any artists talking about this awesome tablet.

I will say, buy it on sale for 700 if you get it.

Tablet that's basically just a peripheral touch screen.

I'm trying to help a friend find a tablet that they can use at work. It can't have a camera or microphone, due to security based device restrictions. It won't be used for anything besides mostly scrolling and texting through Discord. Needs a touch screen, bluetooth, and wifi. It doesn't need to be especially sturdy or even very big. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Looking for a Samsung tablet under $800 — is the Tab S10 FE+ 5G a good choice?

I'm looking for a tablet mainly for studying, drawing, watching movies/TV shows and taking notes, but I also want something powerful enough that I don't have to worry about it struggling with games.

My budget is around $600–800, and I'm specifically looking for:

- Samsung

- 5G

- S Pen included

- Preferably a graphite/gray color

- A large, good-quality display

- Good battery life

- Enough performance to stay smooth for several years

- Good for drawing and studying

- Able to run games like Roblox, Minecraft and Genshin Impact without constant stuttering

I've been looking at the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ 5G, mainly because it seems to fit almost everything I need. I really like the large 13.1" display, S Pen support, 5G and the overall Samsung ecosystem.

However, I'm a little concerned about the Exynos 1580. I don't necessarily need maximum graphics settings or crazy FPS, but I really don't want a tablet that starts lagging or stuttering whenever I play a heavier game.

For anyone who owns the S10 FE+ 5G:

How is it actually for gaming (especially heavier games)?

And would you recommend it for my use case, or is there another Samsung tablet around the same price that would be a better choice?

Thanks!

Reliable and good but cheap tablet

I work full time but I am going to be starting university night classes that are delivered online and asynchronous as part of the pathway to receiving a promotion at work.

I have a gaming PC but I am not Knowledgeable on tech and have never had a tablet. But I do not want to go these courses on my gaming PC, as I want to be able to watch from other rooms or have it going while I cook dinner at night and figured a tablet might be perfect for this. I also already have a Bluetooth keyboard I could connect to the tablet for typing.

I do not need anything super fancy, just something I can watch the recordings on and take notes on, and maybe occasionally use for D&D.

Are there any recommendations for cheap by reliable tablets for this type of use?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Second Hand Ipad Air/Pro or a new Samsung S10 FE+ (College student+Artist)

I am a college student and will be using the tab for drawing and note taking only. I wouldn't be playing many games or watching a lot of movies.

My budget is 45K (INR) and I need this to cover the stylus and the tab costs, so for me, which one would be better as a purchase?

Thank you so much for the help!

Looking for recommendations (again)

Hello everyone,

Sadly, after seven years of solid work, my Surface Go is gone. The battery is swollen and there are no replacements available. I've been trying to replace it for a while but so far no luck. Every other Windows tablet is either too expensive or unavailable where I live (South Korea).

I have a Levovo laptop, so I ordered a Lenovo Tab M11 but returned it a week later because the apps I needed weren't working, it wouldn't connect to my television, and I generally dislike Android as a tablet platform. Not a particular fan of iOS either. However, it seems my preferred OS isn't an option, so Andriod may be my only choice. Hopefully it was just the Lenovo that was the problem.

I'm looking for some suggestions. I'd like to be as far below 300USD as possible.

My priorities are:
-Good to write with (I'm a novelist by trade... which I why I have such a limited budget. I've used LibreOffice on Windows, but on Android it was... difficult)
-Compatible with my television (I watch a lot of movies. I know this varies by set, but my Surface connected without problem while the Lenovo wouldn't even register)
-Reading comics (I use CDisplayEx for free on Windows but on Android it seemed limited, poorly optimized, and subscription(?))
-Drawing (I don't do it often, but I'd like to)

Things like camera and ability to play games don't matter to me.

Any recs would be appreciated. Thanks.

S10 FE purple hue when scrolling

I bought (and about to return) a S10 FE.

It has a very annoying purple hue when scrolling, mostly noticeable when there are black elements on light backgrounds.

For example a dark image on a white background, when scrolling up the top edge shows a purple hue while scrolling down, on the bottom edge when scrolling up. Can't stand it, no other device I own does that.

Is my unit defective? If so I might try to get a replacement, since otherwise I liked it.

Samsung Tab A11+

Tablet screen protector

Hi,

I recently brought my first ever tablet, i travel around the bush for work so I am constantly in dusty conditions, I am just wondering is it worth getting a screen protector for the tablet or is it better just to carry the screen wipes with me? I’ve looked up online and getting such mixed results. I mainly use the tablet to watch movies after work and play a game or two on it,

some people say the screen protectors can damage the screen over time, others say just use the screen wipes.

has anyone has a tablet around dusty conditions and what path did you go with?

cheers legends

Honor magic pad 4 battery!

I got my Honor MagicPad 4 for two days now, and everything's been great so far! Just curious, guys, for those of you who have the same tablet, how long does your battery usually last when watching movies or playing games? 🙂
