I am so confused. What could this possibly mean? This is so funny but also confusing, like what?

Yes, the product is real for those wondering.

Buying help Looking for Laptop (UK)

• Upvotes

Looking to find a laptop in the uk i do have a pretty tight budget. The market here is pretty rough as you all probably know, ive checked the usual Currys, Very, and the Makers sites, im not sure how some of you find the deals you do and any advice would be greatly appreciated. I just cant seem to find deals like others.

The maximum budget is £600 (if there are finance options then perfect)

The intended use would be very light gaming (preferably 16gb Ram), and general browsing/streaming such as Netflix etc for travelling, storage is not an issue

Why is my laptop’s bottom panel slightly loose on one side? There’s no visible gap as such but it’s looser than the other side. Is my battery swollen? The third picture is of the “normal” side, for reference.

Buying help Which laptop would be the best for me?

• Upvotes

Planning to replace my 6 year old 14" Asus Vivobook. I'm not looking for a work or a gamer machine, I don't edit, cut, code etc., only the usual boring stuff: streaming, YT, browsing + a little Word and Excel occasionally.

What matters is the matter quality, the screen size not smaller than 14" and at least 16GB RAM (honestly, I have no clue if 8GB would be enough for me in the future or not, but I read everywhere that it is quite the bare minimum now). I have never used Mac, but probably all the macbooks are out of budget anyways.

Many thanks!

General question What should I do with my 10-year-old laptop? 💻🤔

I have an old laptop that is probably around 10 years old. I don't use it for daily tasks anymore, and it's just sitting unused.
I already have another laptop for my daily work and learning, so I don't want to use this old. I'm wondering what useful, interesting, or creative things I could do with it.

Here are its specifications:
Brand:ASUS
Ram:4Gb
Storage:HDD
Operating system:Windows10
condition: Works when connected to the charger.

If you had an old laptop sitting unused at home, how would you repurpose it? What are some good ways to make use of it rather than letting it collect dust?

Hardware Looking for gaming laptop

Sup y’all, i’m mostly looking for a laptop that can run these games pretty easily on low settings 1080p (i would aim for like 144fps if possible, otherwise im okay with 100+)

Games that i play ; overwatch, apex (more accurately R5Reloaded servers), league, bf6, and call of duty, some aim trainers but the performances there will never be an issue) i’m kinda knowledgeable on the fact that bf6/cod may require higher, but even 60 fps should be enough for those, it’s fine

Context : i have a good rig at home but will be traveling for work a lot from now on and i need me a laptop to be able to play and its gonna be my first laptop

Thanks in advance

Discussion These RTX laptops are gonna fall soooo HARD in prices very soon😂.

Looking at these reviews, it's safe to say that these laptops are over-hyped and severely over priced. Master of nothing at all, not even efficiency when you consider the sheer size of the batteries. I can't wait to pick one up with 24gb - 32gb for $1500US

Hardware Is battery upgrade possible for Tuf A15 FA506NCG ?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I am looking to upgrade the battery on my ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (Model: FA506NCG-HN199W). It currently yields approximately 5 to 6 hours of runtime on an 80% charge using the factory 48 Wh battery (Model: B31N1726, 11.4V).

I intend to replace it with the larger 90 Wh variant (Model: C41N1906-1, 15.4V). Given the difference in native voltages between these two battery models, can anyone confirm if the motherboard’s power delivery system safely auto-regulates this hardware swap?

Has anyone successfully executed this specific battery swap on this chassis variant?

Thank you for your assistance.

General question Peculiar problem with a laptop

• Upvotes

Ok so my laptop is mainly used for school, but it’s technically a laptop built for gaming. And I know alot of gaming laptops use a lot of battery, but mine has a peculiar problem. Whenever the battery is low, like below 20% while turned on it holds no charge, and it cannot connect to the charger so I have to fully power it off and let it charge up to higher than that threshold before it’s able to charge while being on. I hope that makes sense and if anyone has any clue what may be going on I’ll appreciate it. I suspect it may be an issue with the charger laptop itself not the charger but I’ll take any answers

Discussion Why aren't more laptops sold as barebones?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I knew barebone minipcs were a thing, but I never really thought about barebone laptops before.

A lot of laptops these days have soldered ram, so you cant upgrade it yourself. I like the idea of buying a barebone model and installing my own ram and ssd instead. I actually have some spare ram and ssd lying around ;D

Honestly, I wish more laptop brands offered this option. Would you consider buying a barebone laptop if it saved you some money?

By the way, is this nimo laptop any good?
Has anyone here used one of their laptops?

Hardware Static Sound from HP Laptop 15-dy5xxx

what is this sound?? i can't find it anywhere else online. the video is a little misleading because it sounds way more static-y in person. It sometimes randomly does this and sometimes doesn't. I don't think it's anything to do with how much the system is processing because I could have barely anything open and it does this. it's sometimes loud, it's sometimes quieter. It's something with the fan but I'm not sure. Last time I had a faulty laptop fan, it sounded like a chainsaw because it was knocked out of its place, but I think it's different here.

Buying help Is this an okay price for the specs?

I have a Macbook Pro from 2018 that I like, but sadly I am an engineer and the Macbook kinda fails when it comes to running 90% of the software I need to run. As a personal laptop the fit and finish is great, but with starting a graduate degree I figure I need a good windows laptop that will let me run Matlab, Solidworks, Python, etc. when I am not at home near my desktop. I got an opportunity with student discounts and such to buy this machine for $3600. My question is, is this laptop with these specs worth $3600 or am I getting scammed?

I tried one of the lower spec version out at Microcenter and really liked the size and feel, but $3600 is still a lot of money. I just want to make sure that this is a laptop that will last for many years and be able to run large Solidworks assemblies, large code projects, robotics simulations, etc. I hate huge laptops so I am really trying to stay within the 14" size range and within that range, the options really dwindle, so if this isn't a good machine for the price I would be open to other suggestions.

Buying help ASUS ExpertBook Ultra (X7 358H) vs Framework 13 Pro (X7 or X9) - Performanmance wise

I’m a Windows guy, but I switched to a MacBook for a while because it just felt way better. About 1.5 years ago I tried the ThinkPad X9 14" and was really disappointed: a few Chrome tabs, PyCharm and some light multitasking made it hot, loud, and laggy.

I’m giving Windows another shot with one of these:

  • ASUS ExpertBook Ultra (Core Ultra X7 358H, 32GB)
  • Framework Laptop 13 Pro (X7 358H or X9 388H, 32GB)

The screen and haptic trackpad seem similar, so what I care about most is performance and battery life.

Which one would you go for, and why? And if it’s the Framework, X7 or X9?

P.S my company is buying me a new laptop so price isn't a factor
