I'm looking for some opinions about a confusing situation involving gonorrhea PCR testing. I've had several tests with conflicting results, and I'm trying to understand whether I actually had gonorrhea or whether one of my results was a false positive.
Here's my full timeline:
June 8 — Protected sexual encounter
I had a sexual encounter using a condom.

The condom remained intact, and there was no known failure.

Around June 22 — Symptoms started
Approximately 14 days after the encounter, I started experiencing unusual urinary symptoms.

Frequent urination.

Urgency to urinate.

Feeling like my bladder wasn't completely empty after urinating.

Occasional irritation or discomfort around the urethra.

However, I never experienced urethral discharge or significant burning during urination.

July 18 — First urethral PCR test (NEGATIVE)
I underwent a urethral swab PCR test for sexually transmitted infections, including gonorrhea.

All infections tested came back NEGATIVE.

This was approximately 40 days after the encounter.

However, my urinary symptoms continued intermittently.

August 26 — Second urethral PCR test (POSITIVE)
I decided to repeat the PCR testing.

Surprisingly, gonorrhea came back POSITIVE, while the other tested infections were negative.

This confused me because my previous PCR had been negative, and I had only had a protected encounter.

I was also not experiencing typical gonorrhea symptoms such as discharge or significant burning.

August 26–31 — Antibiotic treatment
I took levofloxacin 500 mg once daily for 6 days.

My last tablet was on August 31.

I understand that levofloxacin is not generally recommended as first-line treatment for gonorrhea because of antibiotic resistance.

September 8 — Third urethral PCR test (NEGATIVE)
Approximately 8 days after my last levofloxacin tablet, I repeated the test.

Gonorrhea came back NEGATIVE.

September 17 — Fourth urethral PCR test (NEGATIVE)
Approximately 17 days after my last antibiotic tablet, I repeated the PCR again.

Gonorrhea was NEGATIVE once more.

October 7 — Fifth urethral PCR test (NEGATIVE)
Approximately 37 days after finishing levofloxacin, I underwent another urethral PCR test.

Once again, gonorrhea was NEGATIVE.

My current situation:
All my original urinary symptoms have now disappeared. I no longer experience urgency, frequency, incomplete bladder emptying, urethral irritation, discharge, or burning.
So my complete gonorrhea PCR history is:
July 18 — NEGATIVE (before antibiotics)

August 26 — POSITIVE (before antibiotics)

September 8 — NEGATIVE (8 days after antibiotics)

September 17 — NEGATIVE (17 days after antibiotics)

October 7 — NEGATIVE (37 days after antibiotics)

My questions:
Considering that my first PCR was negative approximately 40 days after the encounter, how likely is it that this was a false negative?

Could the single positive result on August 26 have been a false positive, especially considering that all my other PCR results were negative?

Is it possible that 6 days of levofloxacin 500 mg actually cured a gonorrhea infection, despite the known resistance issues?

How reliable are three consecutive negative urethral PCR tests at 8, 17, and 37 days after antibiotic treatment?

If the August positive was genuine, would you generally expect a PCR to become positive again if the antibiotic had failed to eradicate the infection?

Based on the overall timeline, which explanation seems more plausible: an initial false-negative test followed by a true positive and successful treatment, or a single false-positive test?

I'm not asking anyone to diagnose me over Reddit. I'm mainly interested in understanding the testing accuracy, the effect of levofloxacin, and whether anyone has experienced a similar situation.
I'd especially appreciate input from healthcare professionals or people familiar with gonorrhea NAAT/PCR testing.

So on 3rd october I had protected sex with a SW, oral and vaginal. It stayed on the whole time. Shortly after the meeting (like one hour) , I noticed a spot on my glans, but it disappeared slowly in a couple of days. I’m thinking it could be due to friction, and my penis is often irritated after sex (could be balanitis).

I got a soar throat on 7th of october, and the day after I had fever. The fever disappeared , and then it proceeded to just coughing for about a week.

After that, I started to feel some kind of discomfort on the right side area of my abs, mainly one spot. It has not developed to anything worse, and it feels like it’s going away. The discomfort was felt mainly if I layed down in some kind of weird position, not by standing up.

Fast forward to this day, I have had extreme anxiety and I regret my choice of meeting a SW and potential risks. I have been thinking about it every day. Today when I woke up, my hands had rash on both sides.

Should I be worried? Am I overthinking??

So I had that white skin spot for a while now, I dont know what it could be, but for me it looks kinda like a scar that „overhealed“.

Symptom Timeline
Saturday, 10 PM – Day 1
I had sex using a condom, but it kept slipping up during sex i dont think it ever came off the tip though. Later that same night, I developed itching on the left side of my groin. The itching became less noticeable over time, but the area still gets irritated when soap touches it.
Day 3
The itching had almost completely disappeared. However, I began experiencing tingling in my testicles and thighs, along with a burning or stinging sensation when urinating. I was also experiencing anxiety throughout this period.
Day 5
I attended a sexual health clinic, where they took a swab from inside my penis. I was told that no infection was found. The clinician also examined the area where I had experienced itching and said it looked normal and was probably just irritation.
Day 6
The tingling in my testicles continued, and I began experiencing pins and needles in my legs, particularly when walking. I also lost my appetite and experienced nausea, frequent burping and liquid coming back up. That night, I vomited twice.
Saturday – A&E Visit
I received my test results, which were negative for everything tested. However, the tingling symptoms persisted, so I went to A&E.
The staff examined my legs, thighs and penis, touching different areas to check whether they were painful. They also asked me to provide a urine sample. After testing my urine, they told me that an infection had been found.
I was prescribed doxycycline and advised to return to A&E for another test if my symptoms persisted.
Current concerns
I am still concerned about the ongoing tingling in my testicles and legs, the initial burning sensation when urinating, and my loss of appetite and nausea. I would like to understand what could be causing these symptoms and whether I need further testing.

I was experiencing extreme anxiety and searching up symptoms 24/7 too.

I really need some help identifying this.
I felt the bump like 10 hours after my most recent sexual intercourse (including oral contact), and this is like the day after that, so less than 36 hours after my last contact.
I have a fear it is HSV, but the fact it's a single bump, it appeared that quick after, and that it's white instead of clear/transparent makes me kind of think it could be a pimple/follicullitis.

I was diagnosed with balanitis and prescribed clotrimazole + betamethasone cream twice daily for 10 days, plus two 150mg fluconazole pills taken 5 days apart.

I finished treatment on Friday and everything looked almost healed, except for a red line on my frenulum.
On Saturday, I had sex with a condom and received oral without one, but my foreskin wasn’t fully pulled back.

Today my glans is extremely red again, with dry, peeling skin, white spots, and small cracks. It looks almost as bad as before treatment.

No discharge or burning when peeing, just discomfort when pulling back my foreskin.

Has anyone experienced this? Could it be irritation rather than a fungal infection?

So I've had this skin spot for atleast a year and I don't know what it could be.

I got tested two weeks ago after having 3 partners in about a month. All were negative ( about a week after last possible exposure).

All tests came back negative. But I have this itchy bump and I need help figuring out what it is

Hello, I'm coming before you looking for help and how to proceed with this, which will arise in my intimate part.

I am a man and I am 21 years old, and between August and September I had sexual encounters on two occasions with the same person.

To put it a little in context, between August and September, I had a total of two sexual encounters with the same person, for August, about two weeks after being with that person, I notice that something like a shin comes out on the arm of my penis, which is the first one that can be seen at the top, by that time it really looked super tiny, which I thought was some folliculitis of that specific part of the skin, but when I was with that person later in September, the days later, they started to sprout more, first the other two came out in the arm of the penis, as you can see, in total I have three, and in these last few days they started to get more out of the pubic hair.

The truth is that it does not hurt or itch me or anything like that, and of course I have not tried to exploit it because that would be very irresponsible and dangerous, since I do not know what it is.

Some context- I’m 35 and about 17 years ago I had a circumcision done due to a tight foreskin. I regret it everyday in hindsight- I should have tried to stretch it out naturally but it is what it is now. Plus they do change that shape of the gland and when sexually aroused, could be painful for a partner. They don’t look particularly good either. They’ve only appeared on this one side of the frenulum. I’m not sure what to make of all of it any insight would be appreciated.

The guy who I have been sleeping with for the past 3 weeks turned out to have chlamydia. I got tested too, however, when I received my results, they were positive for gonorrhoea and not chlamydia. Now I am very confused as the last time I slept with someone before my current partner was almost 3 years ago. Could I have gotten gonorrhoea from my ex partner or was it somehow from my current partner who only has chlamydia and hasn’t been in contact with anyone but me since he got tested positive? I have been very anxious at the thought of possessing an STI for such a long time and it being untreated, but any help would be greatly appreciated!!
