Hello!
Here is my totally honest/transparent view of me and will answer any question with honesty. I am laying it all out there!
I am looking for a romantic connection long term relationship, short term is fine AND I am totally with being strickly platonic. I am 40M, 5'11ish, 150 lbs, lean athletic build.
Last year my ex was wife left me wanting a different life. She was severely depressed and I tried to help best I can. I hope she ultimately does find happiness again. I had to go through a emotional JOURNEY to get to a level I feel happy (therapy, avoiding bad habits? Etc.). I had a vasectomy done last year. I don't want my own bio kids and neither did my ex wife.
I am still in the dead beginning of the divorce process which has beeen initiated last year in September. sigh! Once it is all submitted there is a 6 month waiting period no matter what. It is amicable. No drama. She wants a different life and I respect that. She has a boyfriend now too. I am hoping to meet someone too. :)
When I was 18, I had brain surgery due to bacterial meningitis and it resulted in me literally getting a half lobotomy, I am missing my left frontal lobe. I may be a bit weird but I am pretty cool! Honest! I may be a bit neurodivergent. Its a miracle I am alive. I function normally too.
I have a full time job working from home doing contract management for the university. Its a cozy job and pays decently. I live by myself in a cute lil apartment thats in the hood. There is mostly prostitutes around here so its not dangerous. They wave at me when I drive by, so friendly!
I was also diagnosed with Multiple Sclerorsis in my mid 20s. I am extremely fortunate how healthy I am. I am in the best shape in my life now. I just need to be mindful how I am physically feel. I sometimes have balance issues.
I RARELY drink. I don't smoke.
I am a massive nerd and I enjoy some anime and play video games.
OKAY still here? Here is what I've been doing to help me in my healing journey AND this is something I am still doing.
At the start of this year I self initiated my personal "Do Something Different 2026" initiative as my healing journey!
Essentially I am trying to get out of my comfort zone, make friends, be part of communities, etc. I still got time to try new things this year and beyond. Its not always about doing something new but rather breaking the cycle of routine.
I've tried:
Knitting with a group of old ladies
Started streaming retro sega video games on Twitch
Played DnD for the first time with the Ladies of DnD during a con
Trying to learn Magic the Gathering. I am trying to build a commander deck around the Sonic the Hedgehog cards. I need help.
Started to learn how to play Mahjong in San Diego Mahjong club (Thanks to the Yakuza series!)
Did some random meditative hikes with randos
Joined in group conversations with the "Death Cafe" group
Participated in a cosplay contest as Steve from Blues Clues
Played Smash Bros in front of a live band in front of a crowd
Played a ton of new board games
Played Chess with randos in the SD Chess Club
Participated in trivia night at a bookstore event
And more!
I am looking to so more things too like -
I want to learn how to skate board or roller blades or both
Maybe learn to dance like those cool hip hop dance moves I see on instagram
Crochet would be fun to learn too
I have an electric bass but I am a beginner still. My skill level is "Blink 182"
I wanna learn judo to throw people and run if I run into trouble lol
Ive been going to these sort of things by myself. While I am getting used to doing things solo - it would be great to try new things with a partner (or platonic friend)
I am in decent shape so any athletic-ish activities would be fun too.
I would love to meet someone who would to check out new activities. Let's do something different together!
Anyways, if you want to try something and want someone to tag along with, reach out to me. I'll definitely go if I have time! I need to rebuild my social circle here. I am fine with platonic friends. I am a LGBT ally and progressive.
My DMs are open and I can share selfies or go ahead and look through my profile. I post nonesense.
Thank you for reading all of this. :)
