Five Singles and a Funeral (drama comedy proposal)

This is a proposal movie or tv drama/comedy ( social SF and euthanasia theme).

Sooner or later, the whole world will be talking about this: how easy should it be for elderly people to decide that their life has been "long enough"...And as a next step: will societies even put more pressure on them to end their lives? Is it possible to present this universal question with a drama/comedy, including romantic and humorous parts?

We look for a fantastic producer and director for this project, which revolves around very current universal themes. This film may also be made in a low-budget version (e.g. in Europe in existing real settings ) - e.g., a few million, not tens - but still thought-provoking in the whole world.

Our scenario deals with a social theme that is becoming increasingly relevant throughout the world:  what happens when there are too few caregivers available for the growing number of elderly people? Is it a conceivable "solution" to allow (encourage?) euthanasia in the elderly more easily (as some insurers already claim)? Or to give robots a role in care? This difficult consideration is presented here on the basis of personal stories of the main characters ( from 1990 till -as Science Fiction- 2044), including many romantic, humorous and sometimes hilarious (but respectful).

Via the link, you will find our treatment/pitch. We are certainly available for your questions and hope to realize this beautiful project together with you.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pPxgcPJDcl28J_n4AzGtdL4QVtQ13C-IPd1ReRt0ZhQ/edit?usp=sharing

We also have an adaptation to a mini-series (5 episodes) (or long film. 191 pages; when desired soon expandable to 300 pages, 10-part miniseries).

I hope to get your ideas about that. Preferably, mail me. [Luc@deprost.be](mailto:Luc@deprost.be)

[DISCUSSION] Screenwriter looking to connect — here's what I've learned about writing contained horror features

Hi, I'm a screenwriter based in Hong Kong, writing in English. I've completed four feature scripts and one TV pilot, mostly in horror, dark fantasy, and drama.

I wanted to share something that might be useful to anyone planning a low-budget shoot, rather than just introducing myself.

What I learned writing a contained horror feature:

When I wrote Mina — a psychological horror about a woman whose perfect skin awakens a dark alter ego — I built it around three constraints that made it "shootable" for a small team:

  1. Limited locations. Most of the film takes place in a mirror, a bathroom, a fashion studio, and a single apartment. No crowd scenes, no complex set pieces.
  2. Practical horror. The scares come from mirrors, reflections, and skin — things that can be achieved with lighting and simple practical effects, not CGI.
  3. One actress carries the film. The entire story rests on one performance. That's a casting advantage for a director who wants to work closely with a single lead.

I wrote it this way on purpose: I wanted a script that a first-time or low-budget director could actually say yes to.

If you're a director looking for a contained horror script to produce, I'm open to sharing the first 10 pages. But mostly, I'm curious how other people here approach writing for budget constraints — what do you cut first when you know there's no money?

Here is the link of the first ten pages. https://files.catbox.moe/pxx227.pdf

SHORT REQUEST [Concept/Pitch] "The Echo Loop" – Sci-Fi / Cosmic Horror / Psychological Thriller (Short Film / Video Concept)

Genre: Sci-Fi / Cosmic Horror / Psychological Thriller

Format: Short Film Pitch / Video Script Concept

Story Synopsis:

  1. Instant Swap:

A spaceship pilot miscalculates his flight trajectory by a single millimeter and accidentally flies straight into a black hole. At the exact same millisecond, a mirror swap occurs: an exact clone from a parallel world enters his own black hole. They swap places seamlessly. Both exit on the other side and return "home," completely unaware they have crossed into each other's reality.

  1. Glitches & Paranoia:

- The First Pilot: Begins noticing terrifying anomalies — his family acts differently, laws of physics seem altered, and a search for his country's known leader returns: "Your search did not match any documents." He realizes the world is fake, remembers the black hole, and understands it wasn't an illusion.

- The Second Pilot (The Clone): Dismisses all minor discrepancies as tiredness, stress, or simple brain fog. He stays calm, assumes he is back in his normal home, investigates nothing, and simply goes on with his life.

  1. Simulation Crash (Breaking the Script):

To test the fake world, the first pilot takes an extreme step. He grabs a sharp object and attempts to attack his wife. However, the simulation code strictly dictated that this man could never commit such an act. The second the blade touches her skin, the universe freezes. Time stops completely. Because the system breaks, the second pilot's universe — who was unsuspectingly going about his day — freezes at the exact same moment. The simulation fails to compute the error and begins collapsing rapidly in both realities.

  1. The Erasure & The Endless Loop:

As the frozen simulations disintegrate, both pilots simultaneously undergo a painful, complete deletion from the system. Once their worlds reach absolute zero, the system executes a hard reset. Both are reborn as infants in their respective hospital rooms, crying at birth, with a hidden 50-year timer set until the inevitable collapse repeats itself.

---

Note for Filmmakers / Directors / Creators:

This is a teaser concept for a Sci-Fi short or video project. I can expand this pitch into a full script with complete dialogues and scene directions tailored to your production budget and style.

If you are interested in producing this or hiring me to write a custom script, send me a DM here on Reddit!

SHORT SCRIPT Boisterous - 10 Pages

Hi all,

I wrote this script based on a challenge posted by another Redditor in this subreddit about a year ago. The prompt was something like “two friends were swallowed by their shadow,” which is why the story is a bit abstract.

Logline: Four drunken strangers go into a pub to uncover the mystery of no shadows.

Genre: Thriller

Number of Pages: 10

Setting: A vacant street or even a quiet lane would work - exact location is not critical to the story. The pub scenes can be filmed in any vacant, dimly lit room (able to create shadows), as they do not require an actual pub setting.

The story also features a statue for comedic elements. I assume the statue scenes can be filmed at a different location from the other outdoor scenes, since the statue and the characters are never in the same shot.

Actor Requirements: 4 actors (currently written as male characters in their 20s)

Compensation: Screen credit only

Script Link: Boisterous

DM if interested.

Thank you!

SHORT REQUEST German Film Student looking for 5-10 minute Script

Hello people!

I'm a german film student looking for a short script (5-10 minutes) i would like to produce for my Bachelors degree, open to any genre but horror :)

I cant pay, but you would get full credits, social media credits etc. If it is in english i will translate it the best i can.

I have no big budged and will shoot now this winter, so outside and inside shots are doable, but i dont know yet what inside locations i can organise (preferrably noting too difficult). I will try my best xD

I want to focus on aestetic shots and a good narrative delivery, but im not the best autor i think, so im asking yall to help me out.

My uni also provides an inside studio, its adequate for shoots with black / white background or abstract shots (or when the story is about a studio). I have some actors and a small crew.

Would love to see some ideas/scrips!

My location is a mid sized town in western germany, not far from Luxemburg. (Trier)

Feel free to DM, Email: hnkr4751@hochschule-trier.de or comment!

Let's roll!

SHORT REQUEST Need comedic bits for 3 minute, 3 actors low budget college project video

It's a very last minute final project that has been put on us, and I am struggling to come up with some funny bits for the video.

The entire premise has to be based on something we learned in class. We came up with a concept that the main character becomes so overly reliant on AI that they get transported into an AI world where they give very vague prompts to the AI character. The AI character produces funny results in response to their requests because of classic AI misunderstandings.

We only have 3 actors in total, costumes, and a greenscreen.

If anyone would be willing to give their input or help with what we have for the script so far, please DM me! I will provide the script if asked. Thanks!

I’ve written an original TV pilot, and several Features. I have some past accomplishments in TV, music and film, but no industry connections. How do I get my scripts in front of the right people?

I’m looking for some honest advice from people working in television, screenwriting, or independent production.

I’ve spent a good portion of my life teaching myself how to create things. I’ve written songs that charted on Billboard, played drums professionally, recorded music in a studio, and received an Emmy certificate for work on an interactive television project. I’ve also worked as a background actor on eight major films, which gave me some firsthand experience being around film productions.

Despite those experiences, I haven’t managed to establish the kind of industry connections that could help me take the next step.

Over the past few years, I’ve been writing original screenplays, including a half-hour dark comedy pilot called Low-Rent. I’ve also been developing another satirical thriller feature project called Sizzle!.

LOW-RENT adjective
: low in character, cost, or prestige

Logline:
LOW-RENT is a darkly funny, emotionally raw half-hour comedy about what happens when
survival becomes your full-time job. Dan, a broke maintenance man in a crumbling apartment
complex, is just trying to keep the lights on and his very pregnant girlfriend, Sarah, from losing
hope. But between rising rent, a predatory landlord, and neighbors hustling to survive, Dan’s
pushed into a world he swore he’d never be part of.

The Pitch:
Low-Rent is Shameless meets Atlanta. A dark comedy about survival, where rent is due, morals
are flexible, and even breakfast isn’t safe. Dan, a broke maintenance worker, and his pregnant
partner, Sarah, are desperate to escape their crumbling low-rent life, but between a predatory
landlord, hustling neighbors, and the pull of desperation, they realize the only way out might be
bending the rules, or breaking them. It’s gritty, absurd, and brutally real, because if you’ve ever
been broke, you know that struggling to survive can be both tragic and hilarious.

I’ve put serious time into developing the project beyond the pilot itself, including a show bible and pitch materials. I want to approach this like someone who intends to get the work made.

For those of you who have experience in the industry, I’d appreciate some honest guidance.

● Should an unrepresented writer focus on finding a literary manager first?
● Is it worth approaching independent producers directly with a pilot and pitch deck?
● Are there legitimate opportunities for writers with completed pilots but no industry connections?
● Would you recommend sharing the script publicly for feedback, or keeping it private while pursuing professional opportunities?
● If you were starting from scratch today, what would you actually do?

I’m happy to share the Low-Rent pilot, Show bible , pitch deck and one pager with people interested in reading it, and I’d appreciate constructive criticism from anyone willing to take a look.

SHORT SCRIPT Ten and Two | Horror | 8 Pages | Teen Girl Creature

Title: Ten and Two

Logline: After realizing his teenage daughter has become something monstrous, a grieving father lets her drive into the path of an oncoming truck, only to discover that the creature survives, forcing him to confront the thing he can no longer bear to call his daughter.

Genre: Horror

Locations: A remote forest road and surrounding woods.

Cast: A father in his 40s, a 16-year-old girl, and a truck driver.

Creature: A teenage girl transformed into something inhuman.

Budget: Designed for contained production, with a small principal cast and a creature-focused horror climax.

The story explores grief, a father's desperate decision, and the horror of discovering that someone you love may no longer be human. The forest-road setting and creature reveal offer opportunities for atmospheric, visually driven horror without requiring an elaborate mythology.

The completed screenplay is available to interested filmmakers and producers. I'm open for discussion. A feature-length version is also in development.

SHORT REQUEST Looking for a 3–5 minute Horror or Dark Comedy script to direct – Low Budget

Hey everyone!

I'm a filmmaker and commercial director based in Asia. I'm looking for a short film script that I can direct and produce as an independent passion project.

I'm particularly interested in Horror (especially psychological horror) and Dark Comedy.

I love simple, creative concepts that turn ordinary situations into something unsettling, absurd, or unexpectedly dark.

What I'm looking for:

  • Runtime: 3–5 minutes (roughly 3–5 pages).
  • Genre: Horror / Psychological Horror / Dark Comedy.
  • Cast: Ideally 1–2 actors, maximum 3.
  • Locations: Preferably a single location, ideally indoors.
  • Budget: Micro/no budget.
  • VFX: Minimal or none. Practical effects are welcome.
  • Story: A strong premise, creative execution, and a memorable payoff or ending.

I'm especially interested in stories that rely on suspense, clever staging, character behavior, or dark humor rather than expensive production elements.

About the project:

Unfortunately, I can't offer payment for the script, as this is a self-funded passion project.

I'm mainly looking for writers who already have a short script sitting around that they'd genuinely love to see produced. I'm not asking anyone to write a new script for free.

You would receive full writing credit and retain ownership of your original screenplay. We'd agree on production permissions, any necessary adaptations, and usage rights before moving forward.

Since the film will be produced in Asia, the story should be adaptable to a Asian setting and cast.

A little about me:

I've been working as a commercial director for around five years, and I'm currently focusing on independent narrative filmmaking.

My goal is to make something small in scale but strong in execution, with the intention of releasing it online and potentially submitting it to film festivals.

Portfolio: https://www.youtube.com/@hanhvudir

If you have something that might fit, feel free to DM me or leave a comment with a logline and page count.

FEATURE SCRIPT The Taste of Belief | 96 pages | Micro-Budget | Philosophical Dramedy

Title: The Taste of Belief

Logline: "When his roommate outs him as a secret flat-Earther, a college student's defense spirals into astrology, lost civilizations, and simulation theory, until his friends' psychology professor reframes the entire fight, and all four realize the real mystery was never the planet, it was why any of them believe what they believe."

Production Details:

Locations: 2 primary locations: a college dorm room and a psychology professor’s office.

Cast: 5 speaking roles.

Dialogue: Hyper-verbal, intellectual, philosophical, and character-driven.

Budget: Designed for microbudget production. No costly set pieces; contained, actor-driven storytelling.

The flat-Earth debate is the catalyst, but the story goes deeper into conformity, conditioning, identity, and why people believe what they believe. Beneath the intellectual arguments is a personal conflict about friendship, belonging, and the cost of needing to be right.

FEATURE SCRIPT Arnold Bulter Must Ceast to Be (Sci-Fi Dark Comedy)

Logline: A mild-mannered claims adjuster murders the neighbor he irrationally hates and finally finds peace until he learns the multiverse is real, and that there are infinite versions of his neighbor still out there.

Genre: Dark Comedy with Sci-Fi elements.

Characters: 2 main actors

Synopsis: Spencer Tull has kept a list for nine years. Every entry is an unforgivable offense committed by the man next door, and not one of them would look like an offense to anybody else. Arnold Butler returns tools. Arnold Butler grows tomatoes and gives them away. Arnold Butler waves with his whole arm and calls him "Spence."

So Spencer does something about it. It works. The inquiry goes nowhere, and for one strange, genuinely lovely summer, he becomes a better man than he has ever been.

Then a woman he likes takes him to the movies, and somewhere in the third act a character explains that in an infinite multiverse, everything that can happen does happen... everywhere, always. Spencer asks her whether that's a real theory. She says she thinks so, and goes back to her popcorn, and has no idea what she's just done.

There are infinite Arnold Butlers.

Spencer has work to do.

Author's Note: Looking for something smart, funny and dark as hell? A story about the power of irrational hate & the lengths the obsessed will go to feel as though everything is right with the universe? Do you like meta examinations of multiversal theory like you might find in a good episode of Rick & Morty? This might be the screenplay you've been looking for.

Price: Do you like the script? Can you produce a good version of it? Do you have the skills, resources & people to make something we'll all be prooud of? Answering 'Yes' to those questions if more important to me than an arbitrary number. I like being paid, but i've been paid for movies that turned out terrible and i've been paid next to nothing for movies that turned out well. So at the end of the day, money is not my driving motivator with these endeavors.

03:17 — Every Night, the Virus Takes Your Body. Every Morning, You Remember Nothing.

Writer: Health Sciences Graduate

Title: 03:17

Genre: Sci-Fi / Body Horror / Psychological Thriller

Logline: A stolen bioweapon injected into a rogue agent turns its hosts into painless, relentless predators every night at exactly 03:17 AM. As a serial killer hunts this "perfect form," those infected wake up each morning with no memory of the horrors they committed—unaware that the virus leaves them completely invisible to X-Rays and facial recognition.

The Core Rules (Lore)

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on this high-concept thriller idea for a while and wanted to get some fresh eyes on it.

The main hook revolves around a stolen military bioweapon. When a rogue agent gets cornered in a research facility, he injects himself with it as a last resort. He gets captured and taken into an interrogation room—the ops team keeps him alive to get answers. But at exactly 03:17 AM, the virus overrides his motor cortex. He loses all human consciousness, tears through the room, and the infection spills out into the city.

Here’s how the biological rules work in this universe:

  • The virus doesn't grow external masses or tumors. It mimics host cells at a molecular level, meaning infected organs look 100% healthy on X-Rays, CT scans, and autopsies.
  • Every night at 03:17 AM, your mind completely shuts off. The virus takes full control of your body. You become a cold, fearless predator with no pain receptors. When you wake up in the morning, you have zero memory of what you did—you just see yourself on the news committing insane violence.
  • During the night activation, extreme facial muscle contortions distort your biometric landmarks. Surveillance cameras and AI facial recognition software can't match your night face to your daytime face.
  • To stop infected hosts from attacking each other, the virus forces the throat to emit a unique, non-replicable ultrasonic frequency based on your vocal cord structure. Hosts recognize each other and pass by.
  • If an infected host gets wounded, the virus drains internal cellular reserves to seal the injury fast. The downside? You wake up in the morning facing brutal metabolic collapse and physical agony. Oh, and for ranged attacks, infected hosts can spit high-pressure viral saliva directly at someone's eyes or mouth to transmit it on the spot.
  • The window is strictly 03:17 AM. If interrupted at 03:18, things glitch out and the host loses their edge. The main antagonist is a sadist serial killer who spots one of these "invincible" infected on camera and gets obsessed with getting infected himself to reach the "perfect form." What he doesn't realize is that at 03:17 AM, his sadism and personality won't matter—the virus erases who you are.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the logic and mechanics! Always looking to connect with directors or writers interested in proof-of-concept shorts or feature script

She ends up heartbroken, can't forget him, becomes emotionally dependent and tries everything to move on. It's about long distance love, empty promises and how hard it is to forget someone.
