Politics r/Phoenix politics rule reminder

With the election coming up I want to refresh some of our rules around political posts and content.

Rules for Posting Politics

We have a zero tolerance approach for violating these rules. So if you're not sure, DM us before you post.

  • Political posts and comments are limited to regular users with positive karma in this subreddit.
  • Political posts must be related to Phoenix or Arizona directly. Take general issues to other subs.
  • You must flair it Politics if it is at all related to politics, including protests, actions of elected officials, hot topics like immigration or homelessness, and so on. If in doubt, ask the mods. If you post a political topic and don't flair it Politics you will be banned.
  • Do not post political comments in a non-political post. Do not turn an unrelated post political for your own amusement.
  • Be civil to each other. Debate ideas and discuss news, do not attack other users.
  • Report trolls to the mods, do not respond to them.
  • Do not advocate violence. This is a Reddit level rule and a way to get your entire account disabled, not just banned from this subreddit.
  • No doxxing. This refers to individuals appearing in posts here. This no longer applies if someone is named by a major news organization.

What counts as "Politics" in r/phoenix ?

Anything related to actions from a government or public agency. This includes city, state, and Federal agencies, and all laws and policies they control. So this includes elections, immigration, reproductive rights, military action, data centers, water rights, and so on.

This includes actions by Homeland Security, the FBI, and ICE. Given the current state of things, this also includes actions by all police and law enforcement agencies.

It also covers protests and all action against all the agencies listed above.

This is to clarify how we define it for the purpose of managing content in this subreddit. We're not trying to arbitrate semantics with all that's going on.

Election / voting / proposition posts

We have an election megathread pinned, which is the default place for questions you have about any of the local elections, proposition questions, and so on.

We will approve new posts about the election if the topic is unique or has good information. We are looking to strike a balance between the megathread and updated info as the election get closer.

If we remove a post of yours you can DM the moderators and ask about it. I also suggest visiting r/azpolitics if you want a more ongoing political discussion.

We are happy to explain why these rules are in place, but they will not be changing. These rules are here to preserve this subreddit as a valuable place for active members to have the discussions they wish. If you do not care for these rules, do not post here.

Commuting Costco gas no longer cheaper?

Has anyone else noticed that of late in the past few weeks or even months, Costco gas is the same price as many other gas stations? In the past 10 yrs I've never seen Costco gas price not cheaper than other stations so this is surprising!!

I've seen this building on E thomas road before (located by long wongs and nickel city) and its just so mysterious and strange. I've always wondered what this building is/what its used for.
I checked on google maps and apparently it's now an organic eating place. (previously it wasn't marked as that on google maps) if anyone knows what this building was/is used for, let me know.

Set a bird feeder up to entertain our cats and I’m loving seeing the lovebirds. All else we get are urban doves, pigeons, and sparrows.

Weather North Phoenix Palo Verde Tree Downed

Palo (that was his name), a tree since 2018 when we moved in that we planted. Gone. RIP Palo. You were definitely the showcase of our yard and neighborhood. I loved the shade you gave us doing yard work over the years.

This storm was nuts. Golf ball sized hail as well.

Ask Phoenix Good place to watch early football Sunday near the 51 corridor?

• Upvotes

Hi all!! Looking for a place to catch the 10am Panthers game this Sunday. Any recommendations that would be open that early somewhere between the Biltmore area and I think North Phoenix? Like, near chino Bandido lol? I’m bad with directions. Thank you!!

Eat & Drink Fruited sour ale in Phoenix?

Besides OHSO and Trevor’s, are there any other breweries in the Phoenix area for a good sour beer? I have called around to many breweries and most don’t have them on draft. Thanks!

Ask Phoenix Clinics that offer flu shots to 10 month old

I'm not here to debate on vaccines so please don't bring that here. Our pediatricians office has not received this year's flu shots and I am having trouble finding a place that gives them below 18 months. I really don't want to have to wait any longer. Anyone have any advice where we can go?

There has been continues thunder and periodic lightning for at least 15 minutes now. Wild to hear the constant roar from the sky. Apparently there is a tornado warning coming in from Flagstaff as well. Crazy weather we’ve been having!

Commuting Freeways you have to be most cautious on?

Hi everyone. I only really started driving this summer, and the only freeway i am somewhat comfortable on is the 101. I stay in the right lane and usually go 65-75mph. I try to avoid the freeway when the sun is setting/before 6PM. I did take the 17 once but only from Dunlap to Camelback, so maybe for like 6ish minutes.

I-10 is a freeway that regularly pops up as a recommended route but i’ve heard some horror stories about it so i’m not real sure about taking it. I know practice will help, but i’m not tryna die. So is there anything i should know specifically about certain exits/lanes/whack drivers etc?

I'd do anything to go to a LAN party. Specifically for Halo. I've never experienced a LAN party before and it just seems to like a pure peak idea. I'm out in Yuma, AZ but are there any public Halo LAN Parties in PHX?

Weather Strong storms expected today

Post image
254 Upvotes

SPC (storm prediction center) is expecting some pretty gnarly storms for Arizona today. We actually have a 5% probability for tornados which is almost never. But mostly a couple rounds of severe thunderstorms capable of wind, hail and flooding. Stay safe everyone!!!

https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/outlook/day1otlk.html

Edit: baseball size hail reported, more rounds of storms expected. Keeps yourself updated with a weather app or watch the radar yourself.

Edit: spelling
