I bought a new battery for my psp 3004. I have not used it in ten years because it wasnt charging and the battery was swollen so I tossed it away. With the new battery It worked alright but I made a stupid mistake. I couldn’t find my original charger so I used a laptop charger and now psp won’t open. I did find the psp charger and it’s not working at all. Does this mean my psp is now dead?

I was playing the Plants vs Zombies remake and it crashed my system. Now it won’t turn on if it has the memory card in. It turns on if I remove the memory card and take out then reinsert the battery but under no other conditions.

It still reads the memory card if I put it in after turning it on but I have game categories on so I can’t access anything on the card without rebooting the system, and it won’t reboot unless I remove the memory card.

Any suggestions on this one? PSP3000 running ARK5 cfw 6.61

PicoDrive on PSP always uses the Japanese button convention in its menu (Circle = confirm). Every other stuff on the console respects your button assignment, PicoDrive just doesn't. So I found with claude, the one hardcoded line in the source causing it and swapped it: Cross now confirms, like it should for most of us.

Honestly though, I'm nervous to post this. I used AI to help me get through parts of it, and I know how much hate AI-assisted work gets lately. Plus nobody has fixed this in over a decade of PicoDrive existing, which makes me wonder if it's actually wanted, or if I'm just solving a problem nobody has.

Is this useful, or am I overthinking it?

I'm running into a couple of annoying issues with audio plugin vshbgm mod i tried original version too but same issues. on my PSP 3004 running ARK5

1. Audio overlap on launch (as seen in video): When launching a game, the gameboot intro plays fine, but right after its audio finishes, a 1 second snippet of the background music plugin plays before the game starts

1. Speaker popping: Every time I open the VSH menu using the ⁠Select⁠ button, the speakers make a loud crackling

Anyone know how to fix it ? I thought maybe custom gameboot with original psp intro but longer and add quite noise at the end. Idk how to fix speaker popping.

PSP Street battery leak - Is it salvageable or completely dead?

I dug out my PSP Street from 2011- 2012 because I still have a bunch of UMD discs I'd love to play. Unfortunately, the battery leaked during its years in storage.(Had not opened it for like 4-5 years)

even the memory card is stuck inside ..like I can't even eject it out lol.

I removed the battery hoping for a quick fix, but after seeing the rusted insides, I'm skeptical. Giving it one last look before I call it quits-what do you guys think? No false hopes :')

Been seeing the new music players, and really wanted the cool look of old cassette tapes without having to install and use a different music player on the PSP.

So, I made a tape visualizer!

This project is a visualizer for the PSP built-in music player. It replaces the last visualizer in the list with a classic tape that scrolls from one side to the other for 15 minutes and switches sides.

Supports pause, resume, fast-forward, and rewind.

It's an ARK-4 plugin. Super simple, install the plugin, restart the PSP, and the last visualizer will be a cute tape icon!

So I picked up this amazing final fantasy dissidia chaos & cosmos limited PSP. When I first bought it my intention was to use it. But when I got it, it was basically never played and brand new. Has original everything still sealed in bags. I spent a bit on it but that's not the problem, I am more concerned about damaging the thing.

So, do you guys have recommendations on good cases/bags to bring it places? Also do you guys know of any issues that I should look out for so I can really take care of it? Example, don't do x a certain way cause it can break y.

Damn I love this PSP. I just wish it was a little more used so I didn't worry about it so much. Or am I just overreacting?

My PSP is turning on when try to charge the battery it doesn't charge and when I remove the battery and plug it in to try to see if it's a battery issue it shows a orange light as if the battery is in it charging and when I attempt to turn it on when it is plugged in without the battery the screen flashes and the orange light is gone and It takes a while to show again I just want some advice what to do and if it can be fixed

I found my PSP after years of not using it and wanted to breathe some new life into it.

When I boot up a game, it does this constantly. I thought it was regular stick drift so I removed the analog stick while I wait for a new one to come in. My new battery came in early, so I put it in to test it out and noticed it was still doing it!

This makes me think even the new stick won’t fix it :(.
My best guess is that it’s definitely something contact/mobo related but I’m not sure how to dig into that kind of fix. I’m having trouble finding a guide for that specifically.

Anyone have suggestions?

I'm trying to make a battery mod with 3000mah

I'm using orig BMS, and China made battery I bought new.

Battery is tested good. It gave me 3.84v

BMS also seem good. Getting the same 3.84v on terminals going to psp, so bms is not locked out.

Problem: when I inserted the battery mod, (while psp is turned on via cable) it gave amber light and battery icon full charged.

When I check battery info it is blank.

In about 6 sec battery icon became intermittent until it vanished.

Things I tried, resolder, used a stranded and solid wires. Tried different battery like battery from ps vita.

I removed the battery PMS module of the China battery, so only bms works.

I also noticed that after I remained the battery mod seated before it disappeared the volt from the outside terminal it drops to 2.84. So it lock out the bms

I'm making a native port of a game I made 9 years ago when I was 15, and I wanted to ask if you'd like me to share the PSP file since I need feedback to improve pretty much everything ^^" I'm making the port with Claude, basically vibe coding, but the graphics and I'd try to have the sound made by humans and not AI.

Ive been wanting a psp retro handheld for the longest time with the RGDDS treatment. Not just any brick style handheld I want an exact or close to looking psp with a snapdragon chip. Basically RGPSP.

Not modded or anything, but just got this out of storage and it tries to boot a game then turns off, cleaned off UMD laser and still does it, brand new battery as well

Is it normal for the UMD drive to spin up for a second and then stop when turning on the PSP or exiting a game by pressing the HOME button? 🤔

Honestly, I don’t remember if my PSP has always behaved this way, or if I just never noticed it before.

Let's start by saying that I've dreamed of this portable console since childhood, and now my dream has come true. For some reason, I hadn't seen any reviews of photos and videos from this camera, so I decided to take them myself.

Well, I don't think there's much point in talking about the PSP3000, but the camera is more interesting. Let's start by saying that this is truly a camera that captures the spirit of the 2000s. I really like the lens flare, the poor quality, and the vibe. Below, I've attached some photos I took with it in Moscow. You can check them out, by the way.

The whole kit cost me $80, and for my geeky nature, it's a real treat. It's fascinating to understand the firmware, how everything was set up back in the day, and so on. I am also interested in games and I am currently playing them.
