Free app that totals your 401(k), IRA, 529 and brokerage accounts from statement photos, no bank logins (I'm on the team)

I work on PriorStates Studio, and we made a small free app called Portfolio. Disclosure up front: it's ours.

What it does: you add each account (brokerage, 401(k), IRA, Roth, 529, HSA) by hand or by taking a picture of the account page or statement. The app reads the holdings into an editor so you can check them, and then shows one total, today's change, a 30-day chart, and subtotals for retirement, taxable, education and health.

Why we built it this way: most aggregators want your brokerage login. This one never connects to anything, so there's nothing to link and nothing that can move money. The accounts live on your phone (and on your own computer, if you run Studio there).

How the values move, since people here will ask:

  • Stocks and ETFs that are on our live price feed move with it.
  • Funds that aren't (most 401(k) funds) move with a similar index and are labeled "tracks S&P 500" etc.
  • Everything else keeps its statement value, labeled "as of [date]". Cash doesn't move.
  • So it's an estimate between statements, not a replacement for them.

On the photo: the AI reads the picture to fill in the holdings. The app doesn't keep the picture and doesn't save account numbers, names or addresses (you can crop them out anyway). If you use the free starter AI, the photo passes through our relay to the AI provider we use; with your own AI key it goes to your provider instead.

Free, no account, no ads. Try it with example data in the browser: https://priorstates.com/palmtop/webapp/try.html?app=portfolio&lang=en. The app page is https://priorstates.com/palmtop/apps/portfolio/.

Feedback I'd find useful: which statement layouts it misreads, and what you'd want in the main view.

I built a zero-login Expense Tracker & Corporate Burn Ledger with Tailwind v4! 🚀 (Looking for feedback)

Hello folks,

Most personal finance and expense manager apps out there either lock their best features behind a premium subscription or track your transaction data to sell you loans and credit cards.

To solve this, I designed a completely free web utility called Monvael OS: (https://monvael.vercel.app)

It requires ZERO login or account creation. It functions with strict local storage compliance, so your financial memory cache stays entirely on your local device.

What you can do with it:

\\- Track daily personal/business kharcha across distinct category vectors (Rent, Groceries, Servers, Marketing, Wages).

\\- Calculate startup operational burn rate and runway metrics instantly.

\\- Set Maximum Allocation Threshold Caps on categories (it alarms you when you cross your set limit).

\\- Export structured CSV tax reports to easily hand over itemised lists to your CA for tax/GST deductions.

I built this as an indie developer project to give people an absolute utility tool without clutter or ads. Would love to hear your feedback on the features and what else I should add to make daily money management easier for you guys!

Check it out here:(https://monvael.vercel.app)

Every product I build is a reflection of me.

Most of what I've built has been for clients who needed something they couldn't find off the shelf. Some I built to run my own life the way I like to run it. SimpleHomeBudget is one of those.

Like most people, I live pay to pay whether I like it or not. But I've never understood why looking back at all the many ways I stuffed up was a good idea, or how it would help me make things better in the future. What I needed to know was whether my next pay would cover everything, where the shortfalls are, and what I can do to avoid them.

What I needed was this:

  1. The ability to assign bills to paydays, so I knew in advance how much of my coming paychecks was already "spoken for", and how much I had left to do with as I please, if any at all.

  2. Be able to see a big bill that could wipe me out coming, so I could start planning in advance how to split it across paydays, or know which ones I'd need to ask for extensions on etc.

  3. To be able to see when I'll be in the clear again.

  4. To get an idea of what my projected savings are likely to be if I stick to my plan, and see the medium to long term consequences if I don't.

  5. To be able to set aside or earmark a certain amount each paycheck for my daily expenses, and see how much I can spend each day based on how much I have left for daily expenses and the number of days I have left for the next paycheck.

  6. I didn't want to have to connect my bank account either, and so many budgeting apps make you do that.

I know I'm not going to out-market the competition. I don't have the budget or the resources. All I can hope, is that others find the way I like to manage my money useful too.

I'd love to know if "budget by payday" make sense, or if it needs explaining, whether you'd trust an app more or less for not connecting to your bank, and of course if US$4.99/month or US$41/year is about right for something like this.
