Repair Help My 2-month-old Switch 2 is completely dead after being left docked for a few days.

I bought my Switch 2 in August. The console worked perfectly until now.

I left it docked for a few days without using it. The dock wasn’t connected to power the entire time. When I finally went to play something, the console just wouldn’t turn on - completely black screen…no battery indicator…

When I first took it out of the dock, it was slightly warm, don’t know if that’s relevant.

I’ve spent the last couple of days trying pretty much everything I could find online -
1. Held the power button for more than 20 second a multiple times…upto a minute even
2. Tried the Volume Up + Volume Down + Power combination.
3. Reset the original Nintendo charger by unplugging it.Charged it directly using the original charger for several hours.
4. Tried another USB-C charger.
5. Tried charging through both USB-C ports.

Nothing has worked.

When I insert the console into the dock, the green LED flashes once and immediately turns off. Don’t know if tags relevant.

I’ve found a few posts here from people experiencing similar issues. Some managed to revive their consoles by leaving them unplugged or charging them for several hours. Unfortunately, none of that has worked for me so far.

What makes this worse is that I live in a part of the world where Nintendo doesn’t officially provide warranty or repair support. So getting it fixed is going to be a pain.

I recently travelled to Japan and bought a bunch of Switch games that I was really excited to play when I got home. They are still unopened.

I’ve owned PlayStation consoles for years without experiencing anything like this. I genuinely expected better from Nintendo, especially with a console that’s barely two months old.

Has anyone experienced this exact issue where the console shows absolutely no charging indicator and won’t respond to any button combination?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who eventually got theirs working or had it repaired. What was actually wrong with it?

Any help would be really really appreciated.

Repair Help Screen disconnect, am I screwed?

Ragequitted myself into this on my lite :/ The switch is otherwise functional (obviously I can't see anything, but I can still hear stuff like menu sounds when I turn it on and poke around), and the other side of the screen is still attached. Now, this seems, to my very untrained eye, to be fixable, just a wire(?) and the spot it's obviously meant to be in, but for all I know I might be fucked. Am I fucked? And if not, how in the world would I go about reattaching this?

((this is what I get for being bad at silksong,,,,, :'c))

Repair Help Left joycon suddenly dead; connects but won’t charge, four lights flashing.

I was playing Oblivion when suddenly my left joycon stopped working. I had them both undocked so I thought it ran out of battery, but upon plugging it back in it is connecting (shown by picture 2) but not registering or charging (shown in picture 1). In addition, all four rail lights are flashing intermittently (picture 3, about 1 flash per every 3 seconds). I have done a power cycle on the console and tried the reconnect/resync button on the joycon. The joycon’s power button does not appear to do anything. Did my joycon just dud itself? It’s not old, maybe 2 or 3 months, and I don’t have bad hygiene habits (ie dorito fingers, lol) or sticky kids using it, nor have I messed with the port connection or the rails.

Software Help Rudolph key card major problem on Switch 2

The game on the eshop is only showing 82mb as the download size. When you insert the key card it gives the error 2016-0070. That error is associated with the name not being uploaded to the server yet. The game released on the yesterday the16th.

I'm probably the only one who bought the game so I don't think there's much of a fuss about it yet. I called nintendo yesterday and they had me do all these troubleshooting steps that were completely useless. I called back today to point out the fact that the download size is showing 82mb for the switch 2 version and the switch 1 version is 2gb.

I was told to contact the publisher gamemill which didn't work as all their YouTube videos have comments disabled and my emails bounced back. I don't use their other social media to contact them.

So as of now the physical game keycard is useless. I don't know if anyone bought the digital version and got that to work or not.

Anyone else having any problems with this game? Anyone else even buy this game?

Repair Help New hours update deleted my play activity... :(

There was an update a couple weeks ago that gave everyone updated hours (including the hours on those titles played on past consoles). Mine had the opposite effect - only hours played on my Switch 2 are current (Mario Kart World, GameCube NSO, Pokemon LG, etc). Breath of the Wild (200+ hours), ACNH (800+ hours), Ring Fit, and many many more played on my NS1 all show as "Played for a little while" or "Played for 2 hours". The Nintendo Store App still shows correct hours.

I'm just sad because I really liked tracking my hours in these games. I tried the following fixes: I deleted my play hours, re-opened, nothing. I rebooted up those games and played for a few hours. I deleted the software and redownloaded. Called Nintendo support who had me make sure updates were current, back up cloud data, and reinitialize/format my Switch - then told me to send it in for repairs.

Does anyone else know a way I might fix it? Just super sad about losing nearly a decade of play activity.

Accessories Do you use a case for your switch?

This might sound stupid but, does anyone have a problem with getting sweaty palms while playing switch in handheld? It kinda annoys me and I was thinking of buying a case for my switch.

Do anyone of you have any good to suggest? Idk what to look for. Should it be plastic, rubber itd…? Also, can cases harm switch with making it warmer while playing?

I know I sound clueless, but I just know nothing of switch cases. I would like to find a see through one.

Thanks everyone 🤍

Repair Help Hardware sound circuit issue. Error on screen unless headphones are plugged in

I bought my switch 1 second hand almost 2 years ago. It was in perfect condition and I got a pretty good deal on it. I hadn’t played it in a little while and when I tried to reboot it, there was an error continuously popping up on the screen. After some research I figured that it’s probably a hardware issue as the error goes away when I plug in headphones and immediately comes back again when I plug them out. I don’t really have an issue with having to wear headphones for audio when it’s handheld but it means that there’s no audio coming out of the tv when I dock it.

The advice I’m looking for is where to go from here really. Has anyone had any similar issues and what did the repair cost look like? I’m just trying to weigh up if it’s worth repairing. I could just try to find another 2nd hand one online for a reasonable price but there are its own risks with that. I had always intended on upgrading to a newer version in time but not for a WHILE and I can’t really justify/afford to do that just yet. I just replaced my laptop last month so I really didn’t need my switch to start giving me issues too 😭😭
TIA!!

Account Help How do I assign a digital game to an account when purchasing?

Let’s say I have a family group with 4 accounts for two adults and two kids. I want to buy digital games for my kids prior to a holiday so I can setup a switch2 with their games installed ahead of time.

When I’m ready to buy the digital game on Nintendo’s site, do I somehow assign it to one of my kids’ accounts during purchase? And if yes, then once the account is added to the switch 2 we’re sharing, does the game just auto download?

Setup Help Transferring Systems with 2 Accounts?

hi! my brother and i shared our switch 1 and have our separate accounts on it. we both got our own switch 2s and he had already transferred the data from our switch 1 to his switch 2

if i did the same to my switch 2, and i only use my account on my switch and he only uses his account on his switch, are we still able to play the same games at the same time/will i be able to play games offline? or will my console still be considered a secondary console and will need to be connected to the internet to play the shared games?

Setup Help TV black for 2 seconds, then everything is normal... !?

Just got today 2 times this issue in a play session of about 1,5 hours (first playing Dragon Quest VII, then Super Smash Bros. Ultimate): suddenly the TV screen turns black, at first I think it's a blackout... while I realize that the TV LED is still on... and then - after 1 or 2 seconds - the game is back on the TV screen as nothing happened

LG G5 ('65) two weeks old. Switch 2 prior used for a year in portable mode without any issue.

Ok so my old switch screen is dying, I'm moving to a new one and I got almost everything done except for the account linking. For whatever reason, the option isn't showing up. Anyone know why this would be the case? (New account on new switch pictured)

Account Help Can I change the account region without changing the language?

I purchased a Switch 2 in a different country (non-English-speaking) and had to change my Nintendo account's region from the US to that country for NSO to still work, but doing so changed the language. Is it possible to still have access to NSO while keeping it in English? Currently the system language itself is English, but the Eshop and NSO language is not.

Software Help switch lite screen turned white and crashed, now keeps saying my software is closed due to an error

I was playing yesterday when my screen just turned white and then it shut off. I assumed it crashed and just restarted it but then it kept giving me a message that said "the software closed because an error occurred". I checked the software for corrupt data and tried again. Same message. So then i tried to redownload the software (which took hours). I thought I had solved the problem only to open back up the software and i got the same message. I'm kinda lost right now because i feel like I've tried everything.

Repair Help Switch Lite running warmer after changing Thermal Paste

I removed the old thermal paste/putty and replaced it with MX4 thermal paste a few days. However, while gaming, I feel like my switch is running warmer, directly over where the processor is.

Full transparency, I was only able to change the thermal past above and below the heat sink. I was having difficulty actually getting to the processor.

edit: screen just went blank while playing hades 2. i shutdown my switch and turned it back on again.

Repair Help My Nintendo wont turn on despite it seeming fine.

(i have the orginal switch, not the switch 2) So a couple of weeks ago I took a break playing on my switch and didnt touch it. A few weeks after I decided I wanted to play it again. So I cleaned it carefully (which i have done before) and charged it. Only to notice that the battery icon wasnt on the screen when I did. But I ignored it and left it on the charger for about a hour. It still wouldn't turn on. I even held the power button for 10 seconds. Still wouldn't turn on. I honestly have no idea on what could be wrong with my switch. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do with this problem?
