My Dad bought an EM-1 II to downsize from his Nikon Df, and I was really impressed what M43 could do, I then joined the 'M43 club' a few months ago, when I picked up a bundle of used Lumix gear.
As a long time Nikon user and Z6 owner, I did find the GF5 and GF1 with external EVF harder to use and not as engaging, but I loved the size and the small lenses that came with them.
As a long time SLR/DSLR user, I am definitely an eye level finder person; and anything other than my phone is hard to use in bright light with just a fixed rear screen.
The PZ 14-42 is a little gem, and perfect for taking everywhere, and that was the basis for searching out a compact travel camera with EVF.
The Z6 and 16-50 DX (24MP cropped to 10MP) combo was great, but still a little intrusive for a family holiday where there's little time to optimise things.
I looked on here, round the web, and too much time on YouTube and came to the conclusion that the Olympus EM-10 II that I had been looking at for a while wasn't what I needed. The viewfinder hump makes it harder to slide into a pocket in the same way as my Z6. The Z50 would be marginally smaller and have the same problem.
As I had bought into the Lumix side of things unintentionally, the obvious answer was the Lumix GX80/GX85.
I tried one in the last remaining local camera shop, but it was too expensive, and came with the 12-32mm lens which I didn't need. It was also all black, and i really liked the look of the version with the silver grey top plate.
After more research, I found one and it arrived a week before the Sicily trip; cutting it a bit fine!
It was in immaculate condition, has a screen protector fitted and was supplied with 2 batteries and a USB charger; perfect to travelling!
It also came with a hotshoe mounted thumb grip, making it really secure to hold.
The front grip is enough to hold the camera confidently, like the tiny GF5, and way better than the slippery GF1. For me, it didn't need an additional front grip that many have bought, I do have small hands though...
