Breakup We broke up
My chest feels a little tight and I feel a little nauseous, but at the same time I feel better.
He’s just started college recently, and I have of course told him that I’m here and not pressuring him to give me all of his attention, that I want him to do well in his classes.
The thing I didn’t say to him that has been on my mind though, is that he has a lot of time to do other things, like go out and talk to friends. I don’t mind that at all. But it was obvious that I was definitely not top priority.
I thought he was cute, smart, and funny, (I’m also trans, and he was one of the first relationships to treat me like a normal person in that regard) but then it wasn’t really long enough for us to get to know each other before the emotional and communicational distance started to tank the relationship. I’m glad we called things off now.
I’m really proud of myself for how I communicated everything and handled it. I’m very much a people pleaser, so this experience feels like gaining control over my life, and I do think I’ll be better for it.
I think the thing I’m most frustrated about (or that I’m trying to focus on instead of the breakup itself) is that I spent money on him. 😤
