Hi everyone! I’m really worried about my koi fish, Goldie, and I need some advice ASAP.
Today, I noticed she started acting differently than usual. She’s normally interactive with me, but now she’s swimming slowly, avoiding me, and not interested in eating.
She’s also repeatedly opening and stretching her mouth really wide, almost like she’s gagging or trying to spit something out. Sometimes she jerks or shakes her head.
I actually saw her spit out what looked like small stones or substrate. My aquarium has sand, and I’m worried she might have something stuck in her mouth or throat.
She’s still swimming upright and reacts when I approach her, but she isn’t acting like herself.
I’ve tried contacting a veterinarian, but I haven’t been able to get an appointment. I’m really scared of losing her.
Has anyone experienced this with their koi before? Could she be trying to clear substrate from her mouth, or could something be lodged?
What can I safely do while trying to find veterinary help? I don’t want to accidentally hurt her.
Any advice would mean so much. I’m attaching a video so you can see her behavior. Thank you! 🥺🐟

I love my pond and my koi, I don't love how Canadian winters take half of the year away from me. If Canada becomes the 51st state, could I get the Florida weather up here? I'd consider that lol... just kidding... but I am envious of the weather... ah well, until next year.

The Koi are coming along. I'm improving the fins and their movement is decent but I'll continue working on it. And I'm working on added Scaleless and Long Fins now. But what do you think of the current Scaled Koi? As I love my real-life Koi, I don't want to do them a disservice by not representing them well in the game.

The white fish has a lesion on its back and the orange fish has a scale that's poking out. I thought it was anchor worm but I finished my 3 week's treatment.
I do have a rather large plecostomus. I was wondering if he might be the issue?

I haven't even closed up the pond for the year yet, but with the cold weather hitting, I know it'll be coming soon and I'm already missing the summer and getting to swim with the Koi. Here's a quick look at the koi pond, that is swimmable, and the koi that have been busy breeding over the years. There was originally 12... there's a lot more than that now.
The water looks green in the video, but in reality, you can see down to the bottom without a problem, it's 5ft deep at the lowest point. The biggest problem is finding the time to keep it perfect, maybe next year 😄

We just got this very very large koi, probably about 5-6 years old and 2ft long from a pond owner who didn’t want to bother with taking care of them anymore.
Their top fin is cut and very red, looks irritated as well as some of the other fins. We think it’s fin rot but any help would be much appreciated as to what it is and how to treat it.
Also we are not keeping him in this small tank this was just temporary to move him. He is in a much larger quarantine tank now with a filter and aerator going.
Any help is appreciated!!
edit: he is losing some scales too, he has a buddy about the same size we are keeping them both together in the quarantine tank because they came together

I’ve had this goshiki since a small baby. Seems to be turning out awesome! Really enjoy the way the colors changed a bit over time. Let me know what ya think! Young fish but love it! I would say it’s about 7-8 inches right now

Reducing my koi numbers significantly due to an upcoming move I have 25ish butterfly koi ranging from 3 inches to 12+ inches (reproducing), plus a few standard fin. Most are metallic and all are mutts. Hand-fed so most are friendly. Located in Indianapolis. Message me with questions. Thx
