Mk6 (2011-2018) New-to-me 2012 GLI Autobahn! In love with it.
Not my first Jetta, but definitely my favorite. Feels really amazing to drive for a 15 year old car

Hey everyone,
We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.
I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.
Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.
Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.
Thanks!

No low coolant light yet, but I’m going to have to get it looked at.
Not sure exactly where it is leaking from.

So I’m interested in this 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. It’s a 2.0L Sedan 4D. The seller states the timing chain, rear pads, motors, calipers, water pump, wheel bearings, and suspension has been replaced. He says it’s been serviced religiously and photos look great. He’s got a clean title too.
But the catch is that it’s got 200k miles on it. I’m just looking for a daily work car, so if the car has some life for that I’m good. He’s selling it for 3k. I’m not a car guy, nor do I know any, so I thought I could ask here.
Here’s the vin: 3VW2K7AJ1CM382038
I know there’s some biases asking here lol but I am seeing conflicting opinions on Volkswagens. People say they ain’t shit, but then people who do own them are regularly talking about their reliability and posting their car passing 300k miles and beyond. I’d say Im a good caretaker for my car, and would obviously pay attention and try to fix any problems I see along with normal routine maintenance.
Thanks for reading!
Edits: Rotors not motors, and it’s a timing belt.

When I lock the car with the fob the passenger side doors can still open, but the alarm will sound. What could I do to fix this?

Helping someone can help me out. So I got a new transmission filter, and I know that there are two types for my year model (raised vs flat). I got the correct one, but it is a little bit narrow and apparently there's two versions of this version. Can I still install it and will it work? I don't have time to wait around for a new one to drive by mail since I can't get one locally, but will if I need to

I have a 2011 Jetta 2.5L with 155k miles. As far as I know, the sunroof drains and tracks have never been serviced.
No leaks or issues, but I want to prevent future water damage and electrical problems.
A VW specialist quoted me $97 to clean the drains and lubricate the tracks. Is this worthwhile preventative maintenance?
Are clogged drains common on these Jettas?

Hey guys I’m currently looking for the trim piece that goes over the cluster for the mk6.5 so if anyone has a junk yard nearby that they could get one of these for cheaper that could be shipped please get in touch :]
Part # is 5C7-857-059-F-BBO but usually comes with the whole shabang and is more expensive

So I got a 2021 Jetta Highline with 52k km on it. I had it for 4 month and drove another 8k km on it and suddenly the engine light turned on. I got my car from an Audi dealership and got the extended warranty on it. This happened in July, and my car has been at the dealership since then.
First they took too long to diagnose the issue and then when they did they found metal shards inside the oil. So according to my service advisor the cam adjuster was faulty and therefore there are metal shards in every part of the engine where the oil flows. The reason for it no one knows and they just said its weird shouldn't have happened at 60,000km.
This being said luckily my warranty is covering everything and the whole engine needs to be replaced which is approx $20,000 worth of repair. Now they placed order for engine in August end and according to them it is on back order and there hasn't been any update on it.
My warranty covers rental vehicle so at least I have a car to drive but my concern is its taking to long for my engine to arrive and then its gonna affect the value of my car as well.
As per the Audi sales Mgr its gonna be a new engine so it will appreciate the car's value instead of decreasing it but I highly doubt that.
I'm just confused what should the next step be should I just wait for everything and keep my car or convince the dealership to trade it in and give me a new car.

I have a 2024 Jetta sport. I’m considering buying a backup set of wheels and might leave them on for the winter. Is there anything in the wheel itself that works for the tire pressure monitoring system?

Mk6.5 2.slow. About 112k miles. Spark plugs & fuel filter changed in June or July. Does this sound bad? My car started shifting hard this morning. It stuttered a couple times while cold but stopped and hasn’t stuttered since (I drive 40-50 mins to/from work everyday.) I can hear a whine/whistle as I accelerate and I noticed the engine is ticking differently than it has before. I was sitting in it idle for a couple minutes and it jumped a few times. Drove home fine.. not great but fine. No lights.

As the title says. Anyone have any insite? I'm guessing dealer if no other way but I'm not paying $250 like U had to for the new key reprogramming.

2014 Jetta SE, 177059 miles. Yesterday my radio screen worked just fine, and overnight it became very dim, almost unreadable. Any ideas why?

Hi friends,
I'm due for my first oil change out of warranty and I'm wondering if it's okay to go to Jiffy Lube, Valvoline, etc.
I have a '23 Jetta SE 1.5T coming up on 40k miles. Between work and school right now, I really don't have the time to sit and wait at the dealership for 2+ hours, but I see mixed reviews on needing special oil or the VW dealership having different protocol than a Valvoline, Jiffy Lube, etc.
TIA
*EDIT: I’m a gal and have no clue how to do my own oil change LOL
I have a 2019 Jetta S with 68k miles on it, first and only owner. over the past few years the clutch pedal has stuck to the floor randomly, I would put my foot under it and it would come back out and work fine. A few days ago the clutch pedal went to the floor and would not work again after I pulled it up. I felt around and the connecting rod that goes into the master cylinder that is attached to the back of the pedal keeps coming out of the master cylinder. It is easy to put it back in, but not when you are driving. The clutch pedal is also sticking up about 3 inches higher than the brake and gas pedals. On the front of the pedal assembly, towards the pivot mount point, there is a white hole that looks like it should have something inside of it, and just above it is a metal rod that looks like it should be inside of the hole. I tried to figure out a way that it could fit and I do not see how it could have been in there and just popped out on its own, I dont drive it like a nascar driver, it has ~100hp. Any suggestions on if that bar goes into that spot, or what I might need to buy to get it back in its normal state?
Thank you so much for your help!!!

Is this a common issue on the jettas ?

Recently got a Jetta SE 2026, reading all of these forums online talking about how many problems they have.
Now I feel like crap
Don't get me wrong, I love the drive, its a good commuter car but people are saying a honda would have been better
Did I get a money pit? lol

Hello, Just got these fog-lights but no fasteners (or instructions). What is used to fasten the light to the mounting bracket? I found T-25s which is one part, but what do they screw into? I have big gaping holes in the bracket. there are moldings around the holes on the bracket that suggest a specific clip or something. Any advice would be appreciated.

I found a good deal on a set of oversized wheels. I was only able to put one of them on to see if it even fits, but I wasn't able to put all wheels on and take it out for a test drive because the seller had to go to work.
It is a very tight fit but it could potentially work. I do a lot of winter driving. Maybe snow build up could be an issue in the wheel well? When turning in the wheel fully, the space on the vertical is close to rubbing. We are talking millimeters haha space on the horizontal seems okay and even with way more offset it seems to be okay as well
What do you guys think?
Tire size is 225/50/r18
Overall I like to have a bit more ground clearance

Hey everyone! I have a 2011 Jetta SE 2.5L with around 155,500 miles. I absolutely love this car and want to keep it running as long as possible.
Recently had quite a bit of work done:
New valve cover/PCV
Throttle body and intake cleaning
New spark plugs and N80 purge valve
Oil change, transmission service, coolant and brake fluid flushes
The car honestly runs and drives great, shifts smoothly, and the idle seems better than before.
I think I’ve just become hyperaware of every little sound and vibration since getting the work done.
Does this sound like a normal, healthy 2.5L idle? Do you notice anything concerning?
I know the engine cover is still on, so it’s harder to hear everything.
Also have a suspected minor vacuum pump oil leak that’s being checked soon.
It’s also important to note the ac is on in this video!
Would really appreciate opinions from anyone familiar with these engines.
Thanks!
