Team Needed [Hobby] Anyone interested in building something from scratch together? Just a few IT enthusiasts :)

Hey everyone!

I'm just a guy who's really passionate about IT. I'm about to start my first job in IT as a help desk technician, and I've always had this desire to create something useful from scratch.

The problem is that whenever I think about starting a project on my own, it eventually feels too big or overwhelming, and I end up not knowing where to begin.

So I thought, why not find a few people who feel the same way?

We have so many amazing tools available today. A computer, the internet, AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude, GitHub, cloud services... There's so much we could potentially build, even without years of experience.

I don't have a specific project in mind yet. It could be an app, a website, a cybersecurity tool, or literally anything we find interesting or useful.

I'd love to find a small group of people who want to brainstorm ideas, learn from each other, divide the work, and actually build something together.

And just to be clear, I'm not recruiting anyone, I'm not running a business, and I'm definitely not looking for people to work for me. I'm just another person who wants to learn, create, and hopefully make some friends along the way.

It would be awesome to have people with some experience who enjoy sharing their knowledge, but beginners are just as welcome. I'm still learning myself, and I think we could all help each other improve.

Maybe we could start a small Discord server or group chat, introduce ourselves, share some ideas, and see where things go. Nothing too formal.

The goal isn't necessarily to make money. It's to gain real experience, have fun building things, create something for our portfolios, and maybe, who knows, end up making something genuinely useful.

I think building something with other people would be a lot more motivating than trying to figure everything out alone.

If this sounds interesting to you, leave a comment! I'd love to hear what you're learning, what interests you, or even what you've always wanted to build but never got around to starting.

Let's build something. :)

Writer Needed [Hobby] Looking for writers for 1950s music reviews

• Upvotes

Hey, I’m looking for writers to help with a music studio tycoon game.

The main task is writing fictional music reviews, styled like 1950s-era newspaper / magazine reviews. This includes both positive and negative reviews reacting to in-game songs, albums, and artists.

Looking for people who:

- Can write creatively in different tones

- Are comfortable doing praise and criticism

- Have some interest in music or music history (especially older styles)

You don’t need professional experience — just good writing and reliability.

If interested, reply here or DM me with a short writing sample (music-related preferred but not required).

Here is a link to my game in the current form

Audio Needed [Hobby] Looking for help with sounds for my dark fantasy roguelite

Hey everyone! My hearing isn’t great, and I really struggle with the sound side of game development. Would anyone be up for playing through my demo and suggesting some free sounds that could improve the experience? There are plenty of UI clicks, monsters and spells that could use some love.

I’m absolutely broke, and the game only has around 80 wishlists, so unfortunately I can’t pay. But I’d be happy to put your name in the credits!

It’s a dark fantasy roguelite themed around necromancy, think a mix of HoMM and Battle Brothers. The game is still in development, and there’s a free demo on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5282860/

Even a few pointers would help a lot. I’m also around on Discord and always up for a chat. Thanks! :)

Artist Needed [HOBBY] (NO Gen-AI!) Small team looking for more people for PATCHWORK | A colorful 2D indie RPG inspired by Undertale, Deltarune, SMT, Mother & more!

• Upvotes

One BEGINs, Another ENDs. - PATCHWORK (Teaser Trailer)

Hey there!

I'm 17, and I've been working on a game called PATCHWORK for a while now. It's a 2D indie RPG that started out as a bunch of ideas, drawings and writing, and has slowly turned into an actual project with a small team behind it! I'm looking for a few more people who'd like to help us build it!

Q1. What is PATCHWORK?

PATCHWORK is a colorful RPG about PATCH, a small patchwork doll who can learn the abilities of creatures they encounter.

The game starts out as a pretty straightforward storybook adventure. PATCH wakes up in a strange kingdom, meets a few even stranger people, and ends up travelling around Patchwork helping its inhabitants and dealing with a mysterious figure called ARTISTE.

There's more to the game than that, but I'd rather let the game itself reveal most of it.

The main things we're working towards are:

  1. Turn-based combat
  2. A system built around learning from creatures
  3. Exploration and environmental puzzles
  4. Multiple routes and endings
  5. Hidden areas and secrets
  6. Strong character writing and worldbuilding
  7. A mystery surrounding PATCH and the world...

The biggest inspirations are Undertale, Deltarune, Shin Megami Tensei, Fear & Hunger, Paper Mario, Mother and Inscryption.

I'm taking a lot of inspiration from those games, but the goal isn't to just recreate them. I want PATCHWORK to have its own identity.

Also, yes, there are bears :>.

Q2. The Team

We're currently a team of seven:

Gasp_a_cho - 2D Artist / Miracle Worker
Has done all of the illustrations currently used in the trailer! A really nice person to be around!

Xaneco - Programmer / Communicative G.O.A.T
https://xaneco.itch.io/
Has a lot of game jam experience and has been helping with the programming side of things.

Galactic_Glitch - Composer / Positive Bundle of Joy
(Examples in Discord :3)
Working on the soundtrack and helping us figure out the overall musical style. Composed the music used in the trailer

RobFozDarling - Pixel Artist / Bear Enthusiast.
(Also has examples in the discord!)
A close friend of mine who's still relatively new to pixel art, but has been putting a lot of work and creativity into the project.

InfinityKey - 2D Artist / Opens all Locks
Digital Visual Artist. - 2D Animation, Illustration, Beginner in 3D.

Charlie Evergreen- Pixel Artist / Creative Maestro
https://imgur.com/a/kXOMlw5
Recently joined the team and is helping us with the pixel art side of the project.

EightBitOmar - Writer / Director / Fandom Fanatic
I'm responsible for the story, characters, worldbuilding, gameplay ideas, direction, video editing and whatever programming I can currently manage without destroying everything.

Who We're Looking For

We're mainly looking for a few more people to help fill out the team:

  1. (!) Pixel Artists who'd be interested in working on the environments, tilesets, objects, props and general world art! Please reach out ^w^!
  2. Another Programmer to help out with the Unity side of things and work on gameplay systems.
  3. UI Artist to help with menus, buttons, battle UI and the other interface stuff.

Development

We're starting small on purpose.

The current goal is to make a playable prototype covering the first chapter of the game, rather than immediately trying to build everything we've planned.

That prototype will cover the Tutorial Forest, the first town, the areas leading towards the Shrine of Growth, and the end of that section of the story.

The idea is to use the prototype to figure out what actually works before we commit to making the full game.

We're currently using Godot!

This is a Hobby Project

This is an unpaid hobby project.

We're doing this because we want to make a game together and see where it goes. I don't want it to feel like a second job for anyone, especially since most of us are doing this alongside school, work or other projects.

There will hopefully, eventually be RevShare, but nothing is sure at this stage!

I'm mainly interested in finding people who genuinely want to make something and stick around for it.

A Bit About Me

This is my first serious game project, so I'm still learning a lot.

I don't have a professional background in game development, and I don't have some massive portfolio to show off. Most of what I've got is a ridiculous amount of writing, worldbuilding, ideas and enough stubbornness to keep trying to make them real.

That's honestly why I'm looking for a team in the first place. I want to work with other people who are excited about making something, whether they're experienced or still figuring things out.

PORTFOLIO:

This is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind, however, we have quite a few things to show off in the discord!

Interested?

If PATCHWORK sounds like something you'd be interested in, feel free to DM me here or message me on Discord at eightbitomar.

It'd be helpful if you could include:

What you'd like to work on:
Your experience:
Portfolio/examples:
Anything you'd like to know about the project:

You don't need to be a professional or have years of experience. We're a small group making something because we like games and want to see if we can actually make one ourselves.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to anyone who's interested in checking PATCHWORK out.

Artist Needed [Hobby] Looking for Creative People to Team Up on an Indie Story Game!

Help us bring an original Indian story to life through the world of anime and video games! 🇮🇳

Hey everyone!

I'm an indie game developer working on a story-driven game in Unity, and I'm looking for creative people who would like to join me in bringing this project to life.

The idea is to combine Bollywood and anime to tell an original story through video games — bringing together the romance, drama, emotions and iconic storytelling of Indian cinema with the creativity, visual style and storytelling of anime.

We're a small team looking to connect with people who want to share ideas, experiment, collaborate and help create something original that we're genuinely proud of.

🎨 Who are we looking for?

🎨 2D Game Artists & Illustrators

  • Character design, expressions and concept art
  • Environments, backgrounds and props
  • Developing a unique visual style for the game
  • Turning story moments into compelling visuals

🎬 2D Animators

  • Character movement and animations
  • Idle, walk, run and action animations
  • Expressive character acting and emotional scenes
  • Bringing our characters to life through movement and personality

🎮 Game Developers

  • Unity, C#, gameplay programming, tools and systems
  • Helping build and improve the game's technical side

🕹️ Game Designers

  • Gameplay mechanics, level design, combat, puzzles and player experience

✍️ Writers & Storytellers

  • Story development, dialogue, character writing, worldbuilding and narrative design

🎵 Musicians & Sound Designers

  • Background music, character themes, sound effects and audio that brings the game world to life

💡 Other Creative Roles

UI/UX designers, technical artists, VFX artists, voice actors, composers, testers or anyone with a skill that could contribute to game development.

You don't need to fit perfectly into one of these categories. If you have a skill, an interesting idea or simply a passion for creating games, I'd love to hear from you!

👥 Who would be a good fit?

We're looking for people who are creative, curious, passionate about storytelling and excited to experiment with their ideas. You don't necessarily need experience at a big game studio. Creativity, a willingness to collaborate and a genuine interest in the project matter to us.

Whether you're an experienced artist, an aspiring animator, a developer, a writer or someone who wants to explore game development with a team, feel free to reach out.

📍 Location & Work Arrangement

I'm particularly interested in connecting with people from India for easy communication regarding bollywood stories, but talented and passionate collaborators from anywhere are welcome.

A quick note about compensation: This is currently an unpaid creative collaboration, as the project is being developed independently without a budget for compensation at the moment. It isn't a paid job or a salaried position. I'd rather be upfront about this so everyone can decide whether the opportunity suits them. We can discuss each person's skills, availability, expectations and possible contributions before deciding whether to collaborate.

📩 Interested? Let's Connect!

Send me a DM on Discord:

Discord ID: aceblaze007

Please tell me a little about yourself, including

The role you're interested in
Your skills and the kind of work you enjoy
Your portfolio or examples of previous work, if available
Your availability and what you're hoping to get out of the collaboration

And if you know someone who might be interested, feel free to share this post with them!

If you love Bollywood, anime, indie games, storytelling, art, animation or music, let's bring some creative minds together and make something different. 🎮✨

Audio Needed [Hobby]Looking for a composer to score a dream sequence in a student short film—unpaid

Hi! I’m a film student working on a short film called How to Make People Like You, and I’m looking for someone to compose an original score for the film's dream sequence.

The film follows a socially awkward guy who becomes obsessed with figuring out how to make people like him. The dream is set in an office and starts almost commercially perfect... (warm, idealized), but gradually becomes uncomfortable and uncanny as everyone’s attention toward him becomes increasingly overwhelming.

For the score, I’m looking for something that transitions with the scene: starting pleasant/dreamlike and slowly becoming more unsettling, strange, and slightly surreal without immediately sounding like horror music. I want it to become unhinged.

We’re shooting the scene on November 6th, and I’m hoping to have the score about a month after that. Once it’s ready, I’ll be able to send the edited scene+ references+ a more specific direction.

This is a student production, so unfortunately I can’t offer payment, but you would receive full credit in the film and can absolutely use the finished scene/music in your portfolio or reel.

If you’re interested, I can send the script, scene, references, and more information about the direction. I’m also very open to working with someone who is building their portfolio or wants a film-scoring project to experiment with.

Comment or DM me if you’re interested... and if you have any previous music, feel free to send it!

OG Games Entertainment is looking for a passionate 3D Artist to join our team for the development of The Purge Revenant, a narrative-driven psychological survival horror game for PC & Consoles.

About the Project

The Purge Revenant is a psychological survival horror experience inspired by titles such as Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Amnesia, and Alan Wake.

Our current goal is to develop a high-quality vertical slice that showcases our vision and can be presented to publishers and investors.

We already have:

- Steam page

- Playable prototype

- Established development team

- Defined art direction and visual identity

- Active production

What We're Looking For

We're looking for passionate 3D Artists who can help us bring the world of The Purge Revenant to life.

Depending on your specialization, you could contribute to:

- Environment Art: Atmospheric locations, interiors, and environmental storytelling.

- Props Art: Realistic furniture, laboratory equipment, weapons, and other game-ready assets.

- Character & Creature Art: Detailed characters, enemies, and horrifying creatures.

- Hard-Surface Modeling: Industrial machinery, equipment, and facility assets.

- Materials & Texturing: Realistic materials, surface details, and textures.

Requirements

- A portfolio showcasing your 3D artwork (ArtStation preferred).

- Experience with Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or similar tools.

- Understanding of modeling, UVs, texturing, and game-ready workflows.

- Familiarity with realistic art styles and environmental storytelling.

- Ability to collaborate with artists and developers and communicate consistently.

Experience with Unreal Engine 5, Substance 3D Painter, ZBrush, or optimized real-time assets is a plus.

What We Offer

- A serious indie project with long-term goals.

- Creative freedom and the opportunity to contribute to the game's visual identity.

- Portfolio-worthy work on a narrative-driven survival horror game.

- Credit in the released game.

- The opportunity to continue as a paid, full-time team member after publisher/investor funding.

This is currently a volunteer position during the demo phase. Our goal is to create a strong publisher/investor demo, secure funding, and continue production as a fully funded, full-time team.

We're looking for people who genuinely share our vision and want to grow with the project. We're not expecting people to work for free indefinitely, and we want to be transparent about the current situation from the beginning.

Team Needed [Hobby] Beginner 3D Artist Looking for a Team to Learn & Make a Game Together

Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner 3D artist who's interested in getting into game development, and I'm looking for a few people who might want to join me in making a game together.

I'm still learning, so this isn't going to be a professional or super-serious project. It's completely unpaid and just for fun. My main goal is to find some people who are interested in learning, experimenting, and improving together while hopefully making something we're proud of.

You don't need to be experienced to join. Whether you're an experienced developer/artist or you've never made a game before, you're welcome! I'd actually love to have other beginners involved so we can figure things out together and help each other learn.

What I'm looking for

  • Programmers / developers
  • 3D artists
  • 2D artists
  • Animators
  • Sound/music people
  • Writers
  • Anyone else interested in game development

You don't necessarily need to specialize in anything. If you're just interested in learning game development and want to contribute however you can, that's completely fine.

The Game

I don't have a set idea yet, and I'd prefer for us to come up with the idea together. We can throw around different ideas and decide on something that everyone is actually interested in making.

I'm open to pretty much anything, so we could potentially make a small 3D game, horror game, racing game, survival game, or whatever we collectively think would be fun.

Availability

I realistically only have about 3–4 days a week that I can work on the project, so I'm not expecting anyone to dedicate huge amounts of time to it either.

This is meant to be something we can work on when we have free time without it becoming a stressful obligation.

If you're interested, feel free to comment or DM me! Tell me a little about yourself, what you're interested in learning/doing, and your experience level (even if you're a complete beginner).

I'd love to find some people who are excited to learn together and see what we can create! :)

Artist Needed [Hobby] Looking for Gdev Game Jam Members

Hey everyone!

I'm a new game dev joining this jam and I'd love to team up instead of going solo. This will be one of my first jams, so I'm mainly here to learn fast, ship something playable, and actually finish a game in 9 days.

About me

  • New to GDevelop and gamedev in general — learning quickly and not afraid to ask questions
  • Happy to take on grunt work: asset wrangling, UI, level layout, sound hunting, playtesting, balancing, polish, bug squashing
  • Available most of the 9 days and can be online consistently during the jam
  • Reliable on communication — I answer on Discord

What I'm looking for

  • 2 people (team caps at 4) to build something small and finishable around the theme
  • Any mix of roles: art, audio, design, or someone who just wants to jam on ideas
  • Beginners welcome. I'd rather have a chill team that finishes than a stressed team that doesn't
  • Someone who's okay with keeping the scope tiny — a solid 5-minute game beats an unfinished epic

What I can bring

  • Time, energy, and willingness to do whatever's needed
  • Fast learning curve — I'll pick up events, extensions, and the asset library as we go
  • Flexible on roles; I can fill whatever gap the team has

Plan (rough)

  1. Squad up before Nov 6, quick intro call or text chat
  2. Theme drops → brainstorm for a few hours → lock a tiny scope
  3. Parallel work: core loop first, art/audio second, polish last
  4. Build to browser, publish to itch.io + gd.games, credit everything properly

If you're also flying solo or have a gap in your team, hit me up on Discord: realradriddler

Tell me a bit about yourself, your timezone, and what you'd want to work on. Even if you're brand new too, message me — beginner teams finishing games is exactly the vibe.

Let's make something fun. 🌍

Artist Needed [Hobby] Unity dev working on a passion project open-world 2D video game based on Dark Fantasy

ITCH PROFILE: https://yag1307.itch.io/
GITHUB: https://github.com/YAG1307

I'm a solo dev working on an upcoming passion project (unnamed, though a placeholder name is The Vendetta) on a fast-paced, open world 2D metroidvania, built in Unity. The game is meant to be difficult with no easy mode options and function similar to a souls like. What stands about this game is the combat and it's world. You play as a nameless being reborn without a soul, in search of one. In a world called Magna Luna, energy emerges from the moon. Kingdoms and people are in constant power battle to try and control certain aspects of power. The world is alive, NPCs have their own goals and stories and things change as the story progresses.

To be honest, this project is just a dream for now. Which is why I am looking for a 2D artist and sound designer to help me build the game INSIDE Unity, so someone who is comfortable or has experience working inside the editor and playtesting would be expected. A sound designer who is comfortable with range of SFX and Music (could be Acapella). Assuming this project is published and succeeds, profit would be split, though that comes later and is currently just a hobby project.

please know that this project is a dream to me and I really do want to make this game. I work mainly on programming, building the game inside Unity and writing lore and combat techniques and playtesting. Of course, this lore isn't just for me, it is for any collaborators to give ideas on and critique as they see fit.

DM ME IF INTERESTED OR COMMENT IF INTERESTED. Thank you.

Applicants are expected to work alongside our narrative and Art teams to deliver content. Video editing is a must. DreamStage has been in development since November of 2023. Its seen many iterations and changes over that time. We are currently happy with the defined scope and direction of the project. The game has increasingly formalized production systems and we intend to release it until the finish line. Experience levels vary throughout the team with several members shipping full projects already.

The game originally started as a love letter to my favorite anime series Love Live. DreamStage is a story about two girls pursuing a dream to become Jpop idols.

Anyone is welcome but we are especially interested in applicants who like anime or idol culture in general.

I am happy to discuss more through DM's on discord! miyukilily is my tag.

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone! I’m a pixel artist looking to join a game development project or collaborate with other creators. I’d love to help with character sprites, environments, items, animations, or other pixel art assets.

I’m currently offering my help unpaid, mainly to gain experience, contribute to a passionate project, and build connections with other developers and artists. I’m open to indie games, small teams, prototypes, game jams, or personal projects.

If you’re working on something and need a pixel artist, feel free to message me. Please share a little about your project, its current stage, and what kind of art you need. Thank you!

Programmers Needed [Hobby] C++ Engine Programmer(s) wanted for Sci-Fi Class-Based Shooter (Vortex Engine)

Hello everyone,

as the title says I need a programmer (or two) to help me with my multiplayer game and it's custom engine (titled the Vortex Engine).

I'm kinda experienced in c/c++. The thing is I'm not as good as a lot of the people in this subreddit.

So I ask for help.

The goal right now is to get a small engine and game prototype running.

With the big goal being getting it finished into a sci-fi class based multiplayer shooter.

I'm heavily inspired by Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike.

My vision of the engine is it being like the source engine (hl2/tf2/cs engine) with some id tech 4 (doom 3 engine) dna in there, that also goes for the tooling and modding.

I have made some osts. so if you do music too, we could discuss things for that too! here is the playlist link: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLb2wAF5hPLB8

If you're interested in helping me, please email me at [Pulse-Interactive.dev@outlook.com](mailto:Pulse-Interactive.dev@outlook.com) or dm me here on reddit.

I will check it regularly.

And after that we can discuss things.

I hope to hear from some people!

(note that will not be available for most of the day because of stuff, so if you do reach out. please be patient.)

Artist Needed [Hobby] Finding a Pixel Artist for our game project

Hi there, I'm looking for a dedicated Pixel Artist for our redesign of Ragnarok Online. For those who knew about the game, the art is very nostalgic! I've assembled a core team and we're currently in the post-planning phase. Initially I wanted to find the artist later in the stage, but now, I also want them to be a part of creating the story and world building together with me!

While we're planning to launch the game, this is a hobby project first, meaning everyone in the team is doing this whenever they have free time and out of their pure interest/passion, so there's no monetary gain (as of now).

I'd also want to learn alongside the artist so we can both develop our skills and learn new things together!

Let me know if you're interested and leave a comment for any questions about the project!

Thanks for stopping by!
