PSA If you're having an issue commenting on your profile review submission:

Lately there have been numerous folks messaging us because they cannot comment on their profile review submission. If you're having issues commenting on your profile review submission to answer the Automod comment questions:

First, make sure you are replying to the post and not the Automod comment reply. The Automod comment is locked, and as the instructions state you have to reply to your post with the answers to the 8 questions.

Then, try using Reddit in another browser or device. This has seemed to solve the problem.

If you are still having issues, know that this is a Reddit problem and not ours. You may need to just wait it out until Reddit is not buggy. If your post is removed for not answering the questions in a timely manner, it is not a big deal and please do not reply to us with any rudeness. We have to keep the queue moving. You can always resubmit and it is not an issue if you have to submit multiple times. Be sure to read any rejection message you receive.

General Reminders: When you are submitting a post please make sure you have included all six photos and three prompts. If you have a video in one of your photo slots, then just take a screenshot of the still. Screenshot your poll if you have it. You are allowed to censor your information such as your name, location, job, etc, but we do not accept submissions if your face is censored. Crop your screenshots correctly so that the screenshot is just of Hinge (Please see this post if you are unsure what this means), and from the "View" and not "Edit" (we don't want to see grids on the images). Double check that your answers to the Automod comment are answering ALL the question. There are 8 questions total, and people tend to get caught on the "how long your current profile has been active" / "how long you've been on Hinge" - those are two separate questions.

Please comment kindly if you have any profile submission questions, and have a great day!

App Question Only getting 2-3 likes per week lately and more and more pop ups to pay for premium

So I'm 29F, decently attractive, and lately it seems the algorithm is not showing my profile at all. I made the mistake of buying a boost a month ago and it seems it started around then, so now I'm wondering if the algorithm is trying to make me pay more because I paid once? My profile is good, pictures are good, I live in a major city and have a job in healthcare. I don't get what the issue is. I've had hinge for about 2 years with periods where I paused it while I dated some people, been back om it since July and have been on 3 dates since then. I went on vacation for 2 weeks recently and wasn't using it, when I got back I had 30 likes, but since using it more I got literally 2 likes in the past 7 days. I sent out dozens of likes and got no matches in that time. Fresh start is no longer an option on the app, so should I just delete and create a new profile at this point?

I’ve been using Hinge for almost a month now and have received hardly any likes. In total, I’ve had about 8, and I matched with 4 of those. I’ve also purchased 3 Superboosts, but the results were disappointing every single time. Furthermore, I upgraded to HingeX, but that hasn’t led to any significant improvement either.

In the video "This year I really want to..." I perform a muscle-up with a resistance band.

I am looking for... a partner who enjoys a mix of activity and relaxation, is open to new experiences, wants to travel the world, and likes animals.

The simple things in life that I enjoy are:
the sound of rustling leaves, sun on my skin, the sound of the sea, a good cup of coffee, and petting a cat. Ideally all at the same time—though with palm trees instead of regular trees!

My biggest date fail:
It happened in Shanghai, when a friend and I got scammed during a double date—after just 20 minutes, we were €230 poorer and ended up fleeing the bar.

Dating Question Wanting a female perspective on something

31M - Trying to put myself out there after being single for a while. Matched with somebody three days ago and we hit it off well, started texting pretty consistently and within a day or so we exchange numbers and everything seem to be going quite well. She established early on that she thinks ghosting is immature and that if both of us or one of us decided that the connection wasn’t really there that we would be upfront with each other about it.

Last night, she asked me a question and I responded, and then sent her a message asking her if she had fallen asleep. Then this morning I sent her a video of myself making breakfast and asking her how her morning was going. I have not received a response. I checked my Hinge and saw that she had unmatched with me today. While that’s not immediate cause for concern, I found it a little bit odd. I know people have lives outside of apps and their phones and they have jobs and life doesn’t just revolve around things like this, but it’s just a little strange because we had had a conversation that if either of us didn’t feel like it was going anywhere that we would be upfront about it instead of ghosting.

Dating Question How do i stop randomly getting unmatched / ghosted?

Been on the app for about 3 weeks, 1 like and 6 or so matches but none of them led to a date. One girl i talked to for 2 days pretty much all day the first day we matched, connected super well, sent dozens of messages, it was great.

Then she deleted the app, out of pure luck i found her tiktok so i asked like "hey is this you, and if so what happened?". She got back the night of and then said she liked our connection, and gave me her instagram.

Well been nearly a week, not a response, although both her socials are active :/

My other matches are pretty much, talk for a couple hours, we both ask questions and talk back and fourth getting to know each other, and then i go check the app after some sudden silence and im unmatched.

Like is this just how the app is, or am i doing something wrong? Should I talk less / get to know her less and just try to move onto scheduling a date (that seems so weird to me)?

Im 21 Male in southern california, never dated before nor been on an app prior to this so looking for advice

I posted on here about 2 months ago. Listened to the advice and changed the prompts and pics a bit. Still struggling with the dating pool in Cork. Maybe it’s a me thing; maybe my standards are just ridiculous. I don’t know. But it’s rough out here.

Would really appreciate feedback once more. Was quite insightful last time.

• Are you looking for something serious or casual? --> only serious
• Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? --> Hinge+ for 1 month
• How long have you been using this current version of your profile? a month
• How long have you used Hinge overall? --> 1 month
• How often do you use Hinge per week? --> mostly every day
• How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? --> 1 like per week, 0 matches
• How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? --> 20% with comments and some likes every day
• What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? --> someone looking for long term, that says open to children or don’t want because I don’t want to have kids. Maybe that’s why I’m not getting likes.
Only man over 40 send likes.

I know I should have more pictures or myself but I don’t go out much and am not used to taking pictures of myself

Have had no luck, no conversations and no dates of using all 4 apps for a month.

Thanks for your help. I added other pics I could post

Profile Review Because self-criticism is hard: welcoming any kind of feedback

I am most uncertain about the prompts, but the pictures also need some thinking. In particular, does the "I'd fall for you" prompt read as a little too restrictive? and is the first photo a good choice?

Also, do people actually read photo captions? I tried adding some but I'm not sure whether I should really count on them to be seen:

- caption on the kitty picture: "Me petting stray cats I meet outside. Gotta cope with not having any little balls of fur at home."

- caption on the mosaic selfie: "Marveling at roman ruins of a port near Rome. Eerie afternoon in an almost empty ancient city."

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to read and comment!

Warning: my profile contains a shirtless mirror selfie because I noticed a slight uptick in matches after adding it, but I attached another photo as a potential replacement.

Dating Question Guy unmatched me on Hinge but still followed me on Instagram, and now says he wanted to reach out too. Is this normal?

I (19M) matched with a guy (20M) on Hinge, and we had pretty long conversations for a few days about our shared interests. We seemed to click pretty well, and I genuinely enjoyed talking to him.
While we were still matched, he sent me a follow request on Instagram. However, before I got around to accepting it, he suddenly unmatched me on Hinge without saying anything.
I was pretty confused, but a few days later, I accepted his Instagram request. He followed me back and even liked one of my posts, which made me wonder why he’d unmatch me if he was still interested in interacting with me.
After about a week, I decided to shoot my shot and DM him on Instagram:
“Okay this is slightly embarrassing 😭 but I enjoyed talking to you and figured I’d shoot my shot and say hi again.”
To my surprise, he replied:
“Hey! Omg it’s not embarrassing at all lol i wanted to reach out too but felt awkward about it. Sorry i disappeared for a bit i think i got the flu 💀”
Now I’m even more confused lol.
If he wanted to reach out too, why did he unmatch me on Hinge in the first place? I understand that he might have been sick, but that doesn’t really explain the unmatching part.
I’m pretty new to dating apps, so I’m genuinely curious. Is it common for people to unmatch on Hinge once they’ve connected on Instagram, even if they haven’t actually started talking there yet?
Also, does his response sound like genuine interest, or is he just being polite? I don’t want to overthink it, but I also don’t want to misinterpret his intentions.
Would love to hear your experiences!

Dating Question Is This What It's Like In Small Cities?

28M. I live in an area with about 200k people, about an hour away from a major city.

I downloaded the app in March and had light success. A match or like once a week; I wasn't expecting much because I've heard dating apps were difficult for men, and considering my area's population, there's not a ton of active users.

After using the app for a while and seeing a discrepancy over the profiles who like me compared to Tinder and Bumble, I've assumed that most women just open their likes you page and never check the discover queue. I guess that makes sense. But around July my ability to get likes or matches completely dried up and it seemed like only one woman was making a new profile every day and at that point I'm sure they get flooded with likes so the odds of them seeing me are extra unlikely.

Last month, on a whim I changed my location to Los Angeles, and it's like a slap in the face how different the experience is. I've received more likes in one day than I had in the previous six combined and like 10% of the profiles I've liked so far converted into matches. I've left my profile there for a month now and it's really bizarre how different the dating app culture seems.

Are smaller areas like mine as difficult for everyone else or does my town just have a really cagey population?

Getting back into Hinge after a break of almost 2 years. I'm able to get a like here and there but I feel my profile isn't interesting enough for the ladies to start a conversation.

Open to any and all suggestions to improve.

I’ve been on the app for almost 3 years swiping pretty regularly and have received about 2 likes ever. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong. My profile has been reviewed and iterated and edited by several friends. Was looking for any obvious red flags that you can see, other than me being on the chubbier side.

38M, I'm directly on the border with Detroit but on the Canada side and only looking to date in Canada for the most part.

My main issues were that people on profile reviews as well as 2 girls from the app, whom I've asked, have said I look 5'6 rather than 6'2 on my profile.

I added the pic of me on the street and the pic of me on my bike with my feet flat on the ground to try and fix that.

And otherwise, which photos should stay and which should be swapped out for better ones?

The cat one is the only one I know I'm going to be swapping out because of the wild lighting right now.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it
