Nothing else to say. Actually, I want to share a thought. This game deserves a spot among the Games of the Year, thanks to its quality, gameplay, and story. Everything is perfect, and I have yet to find the part where it supposedly became "woke." You can truly feel the love poured into this production, and I hope as many people as possible get to play it.

Advice GFN looks blurry? Here's what AV1, H.265 and H.264 actually do and which one you should use?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've noticed quite a few people complaining about GeForce NOW looking blurry even with fast internet. One thing that doesnt get talked about enough is the codec. NVIDIA added the option to manually change it, so I thought I'd explain the differences for anyone who isn't familiar with them.

what's a codec?

So basically GeForce NOW runs your game on NVIDIAs servers and sends the video to your device. A codec compresses that video so it doesn't use an insane amount of bandwidth and your device then decodes it. Different codecs handle that compression differently, which can affect image quality smoothness and how much work your hardware has to do.

H.264 — The old reliable one

  • Works on almost everything, including older hardware.
  • Generally needs more bandwidth to achieve the same image quality as newer codecs.
  • Not my first choice for image quality, but useful if you're having compatibility issues.

H.265 (HEVC) — The middle ground

  • Better compression than H.264.
  • Usually gives you a cleaner image at the same bitrate.
  • Supported by plenty of older and newer GPUs.
  • A good alternative if AV1 isn't working well on your Pc (most pc can support it )

Personally, I've had better results with H.265 in games with lots of movement!

AV1 — The newer option

  • Generally the most efficient of the three.
  • Can preserve more detail at lower bitrates.
  • Needs compatible hardware for GPU-accelerated decoding.
  • Doesn't automatically mean it'll look better in every situation.

For AV1, NVIDIA lists these hardware requirements:

  • NVIDIA: RTX 30 series or newer.
  • AMD: RX 6000 series (RDNA 2) or newer.
  • Intel: 11th-generation processor with supported graphics or newer.

So which should you use?

I'd recommend leaving the codec on Auto first. NVIDIA already prioritizes AV1, then H.265, then H.264 when supported. Or if you are cocky you can test each one too find the best or you!

You can change it under:

GFN Settings → Gameplay → Custom → Codec

Keep your resolution, bitrate and FPS the same while comparing them. Otherwise, you won't know whether the codec actually made a difference. Also, keep in mind that certain codecs have restrictions with high FPS, HDR and color settings.

I'm curious what everyone else is using. Have you actually noticed a difference between AV1 and H.265, especially in games with lots of vegetation or fast movement?

Questions / Tech Support GeForce NOW Ultimate – Can’t reach 240 FPS in most games, random FPS drops and stuttering. Pls HELP

I’m struggling to achieve stable 240 FPS with GeForce NOW Ultimate, despite having a 240Hz monitor and an RTX 5080 cloud rig.
My main games are Warzone, Battlefield 6 and Delta Force. None of them consistently reach 240 FPS, and FPS fluctuates heavily.
Interestingly, Apex Legends sometimes reaches 240 FPS or even higher, but can suddenly drop to 120–150 FPS for no obvious reason.
At 144 FPS everything runs for the most past smoothly, but anything higher introduces fluctuations, stuttering and sometimes packet loss.
My setup:
● Laptop: Dell Latitude 5410, i5 10th Gen, Intel UHD 620, Windows 11
● Monitor: AOC 24G4ZR (240Hz, 260Hz OC)
● Connection: USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4
● Internet: 200 Mbps, wired Ethernet
● GeForce NOW Ultimate (RTX 5080 cloud rigs)
Windows / GFN settings:
● Windows: 1920×1080, 240Hz (also tested 144Hz)
● GFN: Custom 1080p, 240 FPS, Auto bitrate
● VSync OFF, Reflex ON, HDR OFF
● AI Video Filter OFF
Warzone settings:
● Fullscreen Exclusive, 1080p
● VSync OFF, NVIDIA Reflex ON
● Frame Generation OFF
● 240 FPS target, performance-focused graphics
What I’ve tried / noticed:
● Tested Ethernet and Wi-Fi
● Updated drivers
● Disabled AI Video Filter and VSync
● Compared 144Hz/FPS against 240Hz/FPS
● Network ping tests showed 0% packet loss
● In-game FPS often fluctuates around 120–180 instead of reaching 240
● Sometimes higher packet loss at 240 FPS
● Apex can reach 240+ FPS but randomly drops to 120–150
● 144 FPS is consistently smoother and more stable
My questions:

  1. Is my laptop’s Intel UHD graphics struggling to decode a 240 FPS stream?
  2. Why can’t Warzone, BF6 and Delta Force reach 240 FPS even on Ultimate/RTX 5080 rigs?
  3. Why does Apex sometimes reach 240+ FPS but suddenly drop to 120–150?
  4. Has anyone achieved stable 240 FPS in these games, and what settings or hardware are you using?
  5. Please don’t recommend AI Frame Generation. I’m looking for real, stable 240 FPS without stuttering.

Advice More games

Hello everyone, so long story, but I realized that you can still play steam family games on GeForce now. And it’s honestly really easy.

  1. Go to the game you want to play and click stream, and mark the game as owned

  2. launch the game and sign into your steam account

  3. Boom. You can play

hope this helps.

Discussion Is Life Is Strange: Before The Storm REMASTERED available on GeForce NOW?

Pretty much what the title says. I was wondering if LIS: Before The Storm Remastered is available on GeForce NOW. I would like to buy it from Steam for Christmas, but my PC won't probably make it work without GeForce NOW. I have been making research to find out if it was available but there are some uncertain results and I don't want to lose money.

Advice Short Guide On How to Fix Stuttering/Latency Spikes On Windows 10 (WIRELESS ONLY)

Here's a short tutorial on how to minimize or even completely eliminate stuttering & spikes on windows 10 when using the desktop app.

DISCLAIMER: This is solely for people who already have a stable wireless connection and still experience stuttering (including people who have bufferbloat), not for the people who don't have a stable connection. If you don't know the difference, open cmd prompt and run 'ping google.com -t'. If it randomly jumps up 20+ ms every few seconds then this tutorial probably won't resolve your issue

Part One: Optimizing Packet Delay

1) Open the Registry Editor
2) Copy this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces and paste it into the path bar
3) Click each folder within the 'Interfaces' folder and look for a value named either 'DhcpIPAddress' or 'IPAddress' which shows your networks ipv4 address
4) In the folder with that value, create a new DWord 32-bit value and name it 'TcpAckFrequency' (or edit it if it's already there), double click it, select Decimal, type 1, then enter

Normally, Windows waits to receive >=2 packets before sending back a signal to a server. Changing this value to 1 forces it to process every single packet instantly with no downsides which fixes the micro-stutters and choppy audio you may randomly experience

Part Two: Optimizing TCP's Auto-Tune

1) Open cmd prompt as an admin
2) Paste this command: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=x
2.5) Replace the x with one of these: normal , disabled , experimental, highlyrestricted , restricted

Normal = Dynamic tuning, good for >200 mbps wireless connections. Disabled = TCP uses a static tune window, good for older routers. Highly Restricted = Tune window is very conserved, good for people with C or D grade bufferbloat. Restricted = Tune window is slightly conserved, balanced option overall. Experimental = Uncapped tuning, might be good for unstable Ethernet but idk

Part Three: Decreasing MTU Size

1) First figure out what your device's limit is. Again in cmd prompt as admin, type ping google.com -f -l 1472
1.5) If it pings successfully, then raise the value by 10 (1482) and ping again with that value. If it says the packet needs to be fragmented, decrease the value by 10 (1462). Once you have the biggest value that can ping properly, add 28 to that value. Remember it, then proceed to step 2
2) Paste netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces and enter. Look under the 'Interface Name' column to find your adapter name.
3) Paste netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface x mtu=y store=persistent
3.5) Replace the x with your adapter name and replace y with the number from the previous steps, then enter.

This will make it so the packets you send will travel at the maximum amount of bytes that your device allows before they start fragmenting (which causes stutters.)

Part Four: Selecting Your Anti Congestion Provider

1) Again in cmd prompt ran as admin, paste this command: netsh int tcp set supplemental template=internet congestionprovider=x
1.5) Replace the x with either: ctcp , cubic

Cubic = Quickly and aggressively regains bandwidth after congestion, but doesn't attempt to prevent it. CTCP = Effectively attempts to prevent any congestion in the first place, but doesn't attempt to regain lost bandwidth that any bypassed congestion would cause.

For my situation, I have Wifi 5 with 170 Mbps on my PC, on a different floor than my router. It's good enough for a 60 fps stream on GFN but would stutter on 120 fps after almost every keyboard and mouse input. Using CTCP, Restricted auto-tuning, and 1500 MTU Size completely fixed my issue.
If none of this has helped you for some reason, you can still try other options like using a performance power plan, decreasing your mouse/keyboard polling rate, and changing the wifi channel in your router settings.

Discussion Wonderful people have done things like create superior versions the Mac GFN client, anyone working on an Android version of something like CloudGear?

Android users are missing out on the DLSS 4.5 update which sucks. Devices like the Meta Quest 3 could really benefit from getting a 4.5 capable GFN client like iOS does with CloudGear.
So fingers are crossed, hope some absolute champion is working on it, if so let us all know so we can follow you and spread the news!

Gameplay GFN needs a bitrate upgrade

GFN needs to increase the bitrate to 200 mb to compensate for the codec compression. In complicated scenes (foliage and dust), it starts to look blurry. Av1 is not enough. "The future of gaming" needs to scale with the quality of the new ganes.

It could be in bitrate automatic mode. We all know there are games that don't require as much bitrate and even if you set max bitrate, they never use it.

Questions / Tech Support Ghost Recon steam input issue. Help please

Hi,

So I'm new to Geforce, I use a handheld so I got this to play some more demanding games.

I tried both Breakpoint and Wildlands. When I use the controller config templates I normally use for both, something happens when I use LT to ads which activates gyro aiming. It's like ads is rapidly going on/off which makes it unplayable. I think it's switching between keyboard and controller inputs, but it doesn't do that when I play both games locally with same controller templates.

Could anyone help? What could be causing this?

Local play they're fine, but the graphics are better in Geforce with less shimmering etc

Questions / Tech Support Why Storage Upgrade is not an option?

Hi guys,
I am a founder account owner and it seems like the option to purchase install to play storage upgrade is grayed out for me.

What may be the reason?

I wish to be able to play certain games that I own, but are not carried out by GeForce now. I presume install to play option is there for this purpose?

Questions / Tech Support Does gforce now make sense if you dont game alot?

Title. I own a 4080. I used to play alot of a but not anymore. Its now collecting dust 95% of the week.

Is gforce now good enough for someone that just wants to casually play a few times a year?
- for example experiencing a triple A game for a month or two and canceling the subscription.

Main things I would want is just gysnc and reflex.

Advice Tested the free tier playing fallout 3 and was very disappointed with performance. I couldn’t even read the text on the screen. I’m on 5GHZ wifi and can typically run multiple video streams and play videogames online flawlessly. Is the paid tier better or do I need to fix my infrastructure?

Opinion DLSS Overrides features overrated?

Hello brothers and sisters,

Was testing the new features last night on Witcher 3 Remastered, I personally didn’t detect much difference in quality, I did notice frame rate drops where there weren’t any before. What has you experience been with DLSS overrides so far?

Questions / Tech Support Using headphones with geforcenow

So I bought the Geforcenow ultimate and I'm running it via the native app on my LG G5 .

I'm a console gamer and just wanted to try cloud gaming and didn't even know about this streaming service until very recently. Chat GPT recommended it and I am seriously having some blast with it.

The app has been running very smoothly on my TV without any stutter. I tried gears of war last night and HOLY SHIT it's remarkable , considering the fact I'm only streaming the game and not running it on a PC. I realised that I can save a lot of money on games this way. SCREW SONY. I just subscribed to PC Game pass and can play some of the new titles without having to pay for individual games on PS Store.

Anyway, my question for you guys is about using headphones. Can you recommend me a solution ? how can I use headphones with my current setup? I'm using my playstation controller and I know that Nvidia app doesn't support audio playback via headphones. But is there anyway around this?

Discussion The developers of WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition banned me because I suggested GeForce NOW

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I would like to share an unfortunate experience I recently had regarding my interaction with the community and cloud gaming support for WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition. As a player who relies on GeForce NOW to run modern games, I reached out to the developers both on the Steam discussion forums and their official Discord server to politely ask if they would consider bringing the game to GFN. Initially, the response I received was that the team is currently focused on other development priorities and is not considering this option at this time. While I understood their current priorities, I tried to briefly explain how GFN integration works and how much more accessible the game would become for players with lower-end systems. Unfortunately, immediately after I brought the topic up again, my posts were deleted, and I received official ban notifications on both platforms as shown in the attached screenshots Steam: I received a permanent ban from a forum moderator for the community hub stating: "You have received a permanent ban for the WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition hub. You received a ban from a forum moderator." Discord: I received an official notification from the Discord system stating: "A server moderator removed you from Official WolfQuest. Discord did not make this moderation decision." I was not trying to spam or be disrespectful; I simply wanted to advocate for cloud accessibility for players who wish to support and play the game. It is disappointing to see that polite suggestions lead to an instant ban across all community channels. I have attached screenshots as proof, showing the official ban notifications. Has anyone else received a similar response when asking indie studios about support for GFN or cloud gaming?
