GFN THURSDAY GFN Thursday Updates - October 15, 2026

Dial in the next gaming session this GFN Thursday. New NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 controls give GeForce NOW members more choice over how supported games look and perform in the cloud, even without the latest hardware.

Then, step into the Shroud as Keen Games’ Enshrouded leaves early access with its 1.0 release, or let the bolts fly in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. Both are streaming on GeForce NOW at launch.

With 10 new games joining the cloud this week, members can put the new controls to work in supported titles and keep playing across supported devices without downloads, installs or expensive hardware upgrades.

Fine-Tune the Cloud With DLSS 4.5 Controls

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 controls are now available on GeForce NOW, giving members more choice over how supported games look and perform in the cloud, even without the latest hardware. DLSS Super Resolution sharpens image quality, while Dynamic Multi Frame Generation delivers lower latency and reduces stutter for smoother streaming, and Ray Reconstruction enhances ray-traced visuals. In addition, Ultimate members streaming on GeForce RTX 5080-powered cloud rigs benefit from the maximum available options, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation up to 4X.

From James Bond’s globe-trotting missions in 007 First Light — now with path tracing support — to CONTROL Resonant’s reality-bending Manhattan and the shadowy scares of Resident Evil Requiem, the controls help fine-tune supported games for image quality, responsiveness or a preferred balance between the two.

These new settings are available in the GeForce NOW app under settings, for Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and Steam OS platforms. Members can read here for more details on using the feature with their membership tier, and more information on how to get the smoothest cloud game streaming for some games on GeForce NOW.

Rise, Flameborn

Enshrouded 1.0 brings the co-op survival action role-playing game out of early access and into its full release. Rise as a Flameborn, the last ember of hope of a dying race, and venture into a vast world of survival, action and role-playing, where a corrupting fog has consumed a once-beautiful kingdom.

The title brings improvements to existing systems, alongside expansions in combat with nine new spells, new mage and archer skills, reworked wands and upgradeable Eternal spells and arrows. New enemy variants keep encounters fresh, while a new biome raises the player level cap to 50 and equipment cap to 55.

GeForce NOW offers Enshrouded 1.0 ready to play in the cloud at launch across supported devices. Skip the 60GB local install to save precious storage space, then step into the Shroud without waiting for downloads or needing to make room for the update.

Let the Bolts Fly

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 is now streaming on GeForce NOW. The brutal, fast-paced sequel to the retro first-person shooter brings more enemies, more weapons and new ways to purge.

Picking up directly after the original game, a branching single-player campaign sends the fight to grimdark new worlds.

Choose between the formidable Sternguard Veteran Malum Caedo and the swift Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath, each with distinct abilities, weapons and play styles. From towering hive cities to jungle mangrove swamps, new enemy types await in every biome.

GeForce NOW keeps the campaign ready in the cloud. No local rig upgrades or game installs stand between members and the fight — the Emperor’s work waits for no loading bar.

In addition, members can look for the following joining the GeForce NOW library:

  • Deep Dish Dungeon (New release on Steam, Oct. 13)
  • Planet Zoo 2 (New release on Steam, Oct. 13)
  • Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition (New release on Steam, Oct. 13)
  • Valor Mortis (New release on Steam, Oct. 13)
  • Among the Trolls (New release on Steam, Oct. 14)
  • over the hill (New release on Steam, Oct. 14)
  • Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 (New release on Steam, Oct. 14)
  • Beyond These Stars (New release on Steam and Xbox, Oct. 15), available on Game Pass
  • Tenebris Somnia (New release on Steam, Oct. 16)
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered (Xbox), available on Microsoft Store

Dates listed above reflect when games are released on their respective stores. GeForce NOW availability may vary, as games are onboarded after they are released and added throughout the week. Keep an eye on GeForce NOW channels and GFN Thursdays for availability updates on announced titles.

Also this week, the performance of DLSS 5’s 3D-Guided Neural Rendering model is improving by 2X, enabling even more gamers to enjoy DLSS 5’s transformative uplift in lighting and materials at high frame rates and settings. The new, more performant DLSS 5 model will debut in NBA 2K27 on Oct. 16 on GeForce NOW, GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and RTX Spark laptops.

Dates listed above reflect when games are released on their respective stores. GeForce NOW availability may vary, as games are onboarded after they’re released and added throughout the week. Keep an eye on GeForce NOW channels and GFN Thursdays for availability updates to announced titles.

Gamers who want to test out the new 4.5 controls and high-performance GeForce NOW cloud gaming can start with a day pass to try premium cloud gaming before committing to a membership. Advice Short Guide On How to Fix Stuttering/Latency Spikes On Windows 10 (WIRELESS ONLY)

Here's a short tutorial on how to minimize or even completely eliminate stuttering & spikes on windows 10 when using the desktop app.

DISCLAIMER: This is solely for people who already have a stable wireless connection and still experience stuttering (including people who have bufferbloat), not for the people who don't have a stable connection. If you don't know the difference, open cmd prompt and run 'ping google.com -t'. If it randomly jumps up 20+ ms every few seconds then this tutorial probably won't resolve your issue

Part One: Optimizing Packet Delay

1) Open the Registry Editor
2) Copy this: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces and paste it into the path bar
3) Click each folder within the 'Interfaces' folder and look for a value named either 'DhcpIPAddress' or 'IPAddress' which shows your networks ipv4 address
4) In the folder with that value, create a new DWord 32-bit value and name it 'TcpAckFrequency' (or edit it if it's already there), double click it, select Decimal, type 1, then enter

Normally, Windows waits to receive >=2 packets before sending back a signal to a server. Changing this value to 1 forces it to process every single packet instantly with no downsides which fixes the micro-stutters and choppy audio you may randomly experience

Part Two: Optimizing TCP's Auto-Tune

1) Open cmd prompt as an admin
2) Paste this command: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=x
2.5) Replace the x with one of these: normal , disabled , experimental, highlyrestricted , restricted

Normal = Dynamic tuning, good for >200 mbps wireless connections. Disabled = TCP uses a static tune window, good for older routers. Highly Restricted = Tune window is very conserved, good for people with C or D grade bufferbloat. Restricted = Tune window is slightly conserved, balanced option overall. Experimental = Uncapped tuning, might be good for unstable Ethernet but idk

Part Three: Decreasing MTU Size

1) First figure out what your device's limit is. Again in cmd prompt as admin, type ping google.com -f -l 1472
1.5) If it pings successfully, then raise the value by 10 (1482) and ping again with that value. If it says the packet needs to be fragmented, decrease the value by 10 (1462). Once you have the biggest value that can ping properly, add 28 to that value. Remember it, then proceed to step 2
2) Paste netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces and enter. Look under the 'Interface Name' column to find your adapter name.
3) Paste netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface x mtu=y store=persistent
3.5) Replace the x with your adapter name and replace y with the number from the previous steps, then enter.

This will make it so the packets you send will travel at the maximum amount of bytes that your device allows before they start fragmenting (which causes stutters.)

Part Four: Selecting Your Anti Congestion Provider

1) Again in cmd prompt ran as admin, paste this command: netsh int tcp set supplemental template=internet congestionprovider=x
1.5) Replace the x with either: ctcp , cubic

Cubic = Quickly and aggressively regains bandwidth after congestion, but doesn't attempt to prevent it. CTCP = Effectively attempts to prevent any congestion in the first place, but doesn't attempt to regain lost bandwidth that any bypassed congestion would cause.

For my situation, I have Wifi 5 with 170 Mbps on my PC, on a different floor than my router. It's good enough for a 60 fps stream on GFN but would stutter on 120 fps after almost every keyboard and mouse input. Using CTCP, Restricted auto-tuning, and 1500 MTU Size completely fixed my issue.
If none of this has helped you for some reason, you can still try other options like using a performance power plan, decreasing your mouse/keyboard polling rate, and changing the wifi channel in your router settings.

Advice If you're playing GFN on a 1080p screen, try streaming at 4K. The difference surprised me.

Post image
48 Upvotes

I've been messing around with my GeForce NOW settings while playing Squad, and I found something worth sharing. My laptop only has a 1080p 60Hz display, but I decided to try setting the GFN streaming resolution to 4K instead of 1080p.

And honestly, the difference is pretty noticeable.

The image looks cleaner, especially when looking at distant terrain, buildings, and smaller details. Squad has always looked a little blurry to me when streaming, and this seems to help quite a bit.

here are some photos i took of the game squad (reddit dose not show you the quality I'm experiencing)

CLOSE UP
DISTANCE (BAD PHOTO QUALITY)

I'm currently running:

Streaming resolution: 3840×2160 (4K)
Frame rate: 120 FPS selected
Bitrate: 100 Mbps (my internet is 250-300mbs)
Codec: H.265
VSync: Off/On (depending on monitor)
Reflex: On
Hardware: ASUS Vivobook, Ryzen 7 7730U, 16GB RAM
GFN tier: Ultimate (RTX 5080)

In the screenshots, I'm getting around 102 FPS in-game, 103–104 FPS on the stream, 5ms ping, and zero reported frame or packet loss.

Obviously, this doesn't magically turn a 1080p monitor into a 4K one. But streaming at a higher resolution gives the image more detail before it's scaled down to your display, and it can make a noticeable difference. There are some downsides. It uses considerably more bandwidth, and not every laptop will handle decoding 4K at high frame rates smoothly. Still, if you have Ultimate, a decent connection, and a 1080p screen, I'd recommend giving 1440p or 4K streaming a try.

NOTE MSOT PHONES AND PC CANT RUN IT. EVEN MINE ISNT RECOMENDED KEEP THAT IN MIND

Anyone else using 4K streaming on a 1080p display? Have you noticed an improvement?

Upvote if i have helped

Nothing else to say. Actually, I want to share a thought. This game deserves a spot among the Games of the Year, thanks to its quality, gameplay, and story. Everything is perfect, and I have yet to find the part where it supposedly became "woke." You can truly feel the love poured into this production, and I hope as many people as possible get to play it.

Discussion DLSS 5 is getting a pretty big performance upgrade on GFN today. Anyone planning to test it?

Post image
69 Upvotes

Title: DLSS 5 is getting a significant performance boost on GFN today. Who's planning to give it a shot?

With all the buzz around the new DLSS 4.5 controls, I think this part of yesterday's GFN update might have slipped under the radar.

NVIDIA has pulled off a pretty impressive feat by making DLSS 5's neural rendering model twice as fast, while also trimming its size by 24% and slashing VRAM usage by about 20% at 4K.

According to NVIDIA's own figures, this should cut GPU overhead in half and potentially boost in-game FPS by up to 40%.

And yes, for those wondering, it's officially rolling out on GeForce NOW today, October 16, starting with NBA 2K27.

What intrigues me is that one of the main gripes about DLSS 5 has been its performance cost and how it can alter the original look of a game.

If they've genuinely managed to halve that cost without compromising image quality, that's a pretty significant leap forward.

Of course, we still need some independent testing to back this up. NVIDIA's numbers sound great on paper, but I’m eager to see how it performs in real gameplay, especially on GFN's RTX 5080 rigs.

Hogwarts Legacy is also set to receive DLSS 5 on November 5, with Where Winds Meet following later that month.

Just to clarify, this doesn’t mean every game on GFN will suddenly support DLSS 5. Games still need to be compatible, and the 2x improvement refers specifically to the rendering model, not your overall FPS.

I’m really curious about everyone’s thoughts on this. Would you actually use DLSS 5 if it meant better lighting and materials with a significantly smaller performance hit? Or do you still have reservations about how AI rendering can alter a game's appearance?

Personally, I’d love to see some solid side-by-side comparisons before making a decision.

Discussion Wonderful people have done things like create superior versions the Mac GFN client, anyone working on an Android version of something like CloudGear?

Android users are missing out on the DLSS 4.5 update which sucks. Devices like the Meta Quest 3 could really benefit from getting a 4.5 capable GFN client like iOS does with CloudGear.
So fingers are crossed, hope some absolute champion is working on it, if so let us all know so we can follow you and spread the news!

Questions / Tech Support Why Storage Upgrade is not an option?

Hi guys,
I am a founder account owner and it seems like the option to purchase install to play storage upgrade is grayed out for me.

What may be the reason?

I wish to be able to play certain games that I own, but are not carried out by GeForce now. I presume install to play option is there for this purpose?

Advice UPDATE: SOLVED! Battlefield 6 Free Weekend is now working on GeForce NOW!

I finally managed to get it working!
It looks like EA fixed an issue with the Steam free weekend, which was preventing the multiplayer content from being properly activated.
Here’s exactly what I did:
Opened the Windows version of Steam through CrossOver on my Mac. (If you’re on Windows, just use Steam normally.)
Went to the Battlefield 6 Steam store page and clicked Play on the free weekend offer.
Steam started downloading Battlefield 6. You don’t need to download the entire game.
Went to Library → Battlefield 6 → Properties → DLC and checked that both Multiplayer and Campaign were listed.
Paused the download and closed Steam.
Opened GeForce NOW, went to Settings → Connections → Steam, and synced my library again.
Launched Battlefield 6 through GeForce NOW using Steam.
And it worked! The multiplayer modes are finally unlocked, and I can play the free weekend without purchasing the game.
Previously, GeForce NOW would only let me access REDSEC, and the multiplayer was marked as “Purchase to Play.”
I’m not sure if EA’s fix alone solved it or if reactivating the free weekend through Steam was also necessary, but these are the steps that worked for me.
Hope this helps anyone having the same issue!

Questions / Tech Support Ghost Recon steam input issue. Help please

Hi,

So I'm new to Geforce, I use a handheld so I got this to play some more demanding games.

I tried both Breakpoint and Wildlands. When I use the controller config templates I normally use for both, something happens when I use LT to ads which activates gyro aiming. It's like ads is rapidly going on/off which makes it unplayable. I think it's switching between keyboard and controller inputs, but it doesn't do that when I play both games locally with same controller templates.

Could anyone help? What could be causing this?

Local play they're fine, but the graphics are better in Geforce with less shimmering etc

Questions / Tech Support WARDOGS stuttering on Steam Deck with GeForce NOW

GeForce NOW runs amazingly on my Steam Deck with SteamOS. Games like Arma 3 and ARC Raiders run perfectly at maximum quality, with just 8–10 ms latency. The problem happens only with WARDOGS.

The image freezes for a split second, and even the audio breaks up during these moments. It's incredibly frustrating, especially when aiming in combat or flying a helicopter and suddenly crashing because of a freeze.

This doesn't feel like normal GeForce NOW input lag. Is anyone else experiencing this with WARDOGS?

Thanks guys!!!!

Gameplay First-time VAC Live 20h cooldown while playing CS2 on GeForce NOW (False positive?)

Hey everyone,

I just got my first-ever "irregular gameplay" 20-hour cooldown on CS2, and I’m trying to figure out if anyone else playing on GeForce NOW has experienced this recently.

What happened:

Setup details:

I know VAC Live operates server-side by monitoring telemetry and inputs rather than client processes. Could network packet stacking or latency fluctuations from GeForce NOW make clean inputs look like synthetic automation to VACNet? Or could Synapse background drivers cause an issue even if unused?

Has anyone else on GFN or Razer hardware run into false flags with VAC Live lately? Also, is there any way to pull GOTV demos for matches that get cancelled mid-game, or are those demo files lost when the match terminates?

Appreciate any insights!

Advice GeForce NOW finally has DLSS 4.5 overrides — here's what they do and the settings worth trying!!!!

Post image
183 Upvotes

NVIDIA added the new DLSS 4.5 override controls to GeForce NOW today (October 15), and I figured I'd put together a quick guide since there's quite a bit you can change now.

The interesting part is that you no longer have to rely entirely on whichever DLSS version a game ships with. You can choose newer models, force DLAA in supported games, and adjust Frame Generation depending on your membership.

Where to find it

Open GeForce NOW → Settings → Gameplay → DLSS Override → Details.

These are the main options:

-Super Resolution: Lets you override the game's DLSS rendering mode, including DLAA for native-resolution anti-aliasing.

-Model Presets: Lets you select a different DLSS AI model. Recommended automatically chooses between K, L and M depending on your DLSS mode.

-Frame Generation: Ultimate members on RTX 5080 rigs can use Dynamic Multi Frame Generation up to 4X.

-Ray Reconstruction: Can improve supported ray-traced effects, but the game needs to support the feature.

DLAA is probably the setting I'm most interested in. Instead of rendering below native resolution and upscaling, it uses AI anti-aliasing at native resolution. It can look noticeably cleaner, especially around thin objects and distant details, but it costs more performance than DLSS Quality.

Settings I'd recommend starting with

These aren't universal best settings. Different games and connections will behave differently, but they're reasonable starting points.

1. Ultimate — Maximum image quality
Streaming resolution: 4K if your display/device supports it, otherwise the highest practical resolution
Streaming FPS: match your display
Bitrate: Auto or the highest stable manual value
DLSS model: Recommended
Super Resolution: DLAA
Ray Reconstruction: Enabled in supported ray-traced games
Reflex: On
VSync: Adaptive
In-game graphics: High/Ultra
Frame Generation: Optional
This is what I'd try for single-player games where image quality matters more than maximum FPS.

2. Ultimate — Maximum FPS / competitive games
Resolution: 1080p or 1440p
Streaming FPS: Highest supported by your device and monitor
Bitrate: Auto or highest stable
DLSS model: Recommended
Super Resolution: Quality, Balanced or Performance depending on FPS
Reflex: On
VSync: Off for the lowest latency, or Adaptive if tearing bothers you
In-game shadows/effects: Medium or Low

For competitive games I'd prioritize real rendered frames and low latency. Frame Generation can make motion smoother, but generated frames aren't a replacement for actual game responsiveness.

For supported single-player games, Ultimate RTX 5080 users can also experiment with Dynamic Frame Generation.

3. Performance membership — Best image quality
Resolution: 1440p if supported
Streaming FPS: 60
Bitrate: Auto or highest stable
DLSS model: Recommended
Super Resolution: DLAA or Quality
Reflex: On where available
VSync: Adaptive
In-game graphics: High, adjusting demanding settings if necessary

Performance members are capped at 60 FPS streaming, so maintaining a stable 60 while improving image quality is usually the better goal.

If DLAA causes FPS drops, switch back to DLSS Quality.

The aim here is consistent frame delivery rather than pushing every graphics setting to maximum.4. Performance membership — Best FPS / stability
Resolution: 1080p
Streaming FPS: 60
Bitrate: Auto
DLSS model: Recommended
Super Resolution: Balanced or Performance if needed
Reflex: On where supported
VSync: Adaptive, or Off if you prefer lower latency
In-game graphics: Medium/High

A few things worth knowing

First, these overrides don't magically enable DLSS in games that never supported it. You still need to enable the corresponding DLSS feature in-game.

Second, you can check whether the override is actually working by pressing Ctrl+N during gameplay. There's now an override status indicator.

Don't panic if it says inactive in the main menu. NVIDIA says this can happen in menus and cutscenes even when the override works during gameplay.

Third, these settings are global. If you set DLAA for one game and then launch something much more demanding, you might want to switch back to Quality or Balanced.

Also, DLSS won't fix every blurry-stream problem. Bitrate, packet loss, network stability and video compression still affect what actually reaches your monitor.

If your image randomly becomes blurry during movement, check your GFN streaming statistics before assuming DLSS is responsible.

One last thing: Recommended doesn't always mean the newest model. NVIDIA currently recommends Preset K for DLAA, Quality and Balanced; M for Performance; and L for Ultra Performance. You can experiment with other models, but newer doesn't automatically mean better for every mode.

Official NVIDIA guide:
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5876

Has anyone compared DLAA against DLSS Quality on GFN yet? I'm particularly interested in whether the overrides make a noticeable difference in games with lots of vegetation, distant objects or fast camera movement.
