Discussion The Steam Next Fest October 2026 Edition is live! What's gone on your wishlist?
The third and final Steam Next Fest of the year is live now with more games than you could ever look at and more AI slop than you'd ever care to. Let's pool our picks and help the truly standout titles get the attention they deserve!
Some of the most notable participants this time around include:
- The Wolf Among Us Remastered, Telltale's rerelease of their 2013/14 classic before its long-awaited sequel arrives next year.
- Find The Needle, an automation game where you have to comb through a massive haystack to find the needles.
- Hela: of Mice & Magic, a co-op 3D platformer where you play as mice that's being made by former developers of Unravel.
- DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Withered World, Square Enix's latest in their creature-collector spinoff series.
- Emberville, a combat-first life sim with shades of Stardew Valley where you rebuild a town as your fight your way through dungeons.
A few others that caught my eye have been:
- just volleyball, a low-floor, high-ceiling multiplayer volleyball game.
- Towers of Babble, a strange tower defense word game by the developers of Q-UP where every word you make turns into a tower with its own unique stats.
- My Arms Are Longer Now, an Untitled Goose Game-like where you pull pranks and steal stuff with your one freakishly long arm.
- Inkblood, a detective game reminiscent of the Golden Idol series with an eye-catching art style.
- JOHN GLEEP, a ridiculous, maximalist roguelike where you abduct populations of different planets to patronize your UFO-turned-casino.

Stupid Never Dies is what happens when a group of industry veterans decides to make a video game adaptation of Warm Bodies in the style of a Suda51 game.
Analog Stick Gaming - Jeff M Young - 6 / 10
Stupid Never Dies should be fun, but it rarely gets the opportunity to be anything more than its premise. The rogue-lite structure hurts the concept of this game, as it simply doesn't have the variety to remain engaging. Combat, level variety, and progression are certainly present here, in some form, but are disappointingly shallow and repetitive, even for a rogue-lite. While the Grasshopper influence is felt across most of the game, it lacks the soul of those titles, and is a largely forgettable experience on its own.
CGMagazine - Zubi Khan - 9 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is a tale as old as time: you play as the hapless undead, Davy, a low-ranking zombie who happens to fall in love with a girl named Julia.
Console Creatures - Bobby Pashalidis - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is an aptly named game about a zombie who falls in love with a corpse. Across different dungeons, Davy musters up the punk-rock courage to save the girl he loves by battling an assortment of monsters. The setup is perfect for a roguelike, as Davy’s ability to bite monster cores lets him grow stronger, more vicious, and more capable.
Console-Tribe - Simone Cantini - Italian - 70 / 100
Stupid Never Dies" isn't the best action-roguelite out there, but it’s easily one of the most visually distinct and soulful. While repetitive gameplay and minor combat issues hold it back, its vibrant style, absurd humor, and endearing cast make it an unforgettable journey. Honest, passionate, and wildly creative, it may not win Game of the Year 2026, but it will certainly leave a lasting impression. Keep pushing, Davy—love finds a way!
DayOne - Aarsal Masoodi - 7.5 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is a stylish, zombie and monster-infested fun time with a decently long length and an intriguing story. From its eclectic cast of characters, to its large variety in monster styles, to its unique takes on the roguelike formula, there’s a lot to like here. Yet the combat and boss fights don’t always land, and for a game with fighting at its very core, this is a fairly big area to be hit or miss on.
Still, when everything does click, Stupid Never Dies is a fantastic time that has you diving right back in again and again.
Digital Chumps - Ben Sheene - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies does dungeon crawling differently by way of its power-swapping zombie hero. The flashy, bizarre package housing this quirky jaunt does contain familiar structures and bouts of frustration but a constant energy keeps it engaging.
DualShockers - Daniel Trock - 7 / 10
As it stands, though, it’s like a meal that starts out excellent, but by the end, you’re reaching for a pack of Pepto-Bismol.
Gamer Social Club - Daire Behan - 5 / 10
While aesthetically sound, Stupid Never Dies shows its entire hand far too early, unveiling the depths of its mechanics in its opening and subsequently failing at every turn to justify the 20-30 hours that follow, oftentimes instead going out of its way to spin the player in circles. Its failure to commit to its rogue-like foundation in any meaningful way makes for a bloated, repetitive action game that’s made even worse by a generic story mired by tropes.
IGN Italy - Alessandra Borgonovo - Italian - 8 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is an explosive debut for GPTRACK50, successfully blending the progression of an action RPG with the frantic, immediate thrill of an arcade roguelite. Despite some rough edges in combat precision-most notably the lack of a lock-on system and a short-ranged parry-Davy's grotesque, punk-infused crusade remains a wildly entertaining, generous, and addictive ride that keeps evolving well beyond expectations.
IGN Spain - Alejandro Morillas - Spanish - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is brimming with personality, combining '90s charm, combat, and roguelite progression in an adventure that constantly invites you to play again. Its punk aesthetic, absurd humor, and variety of combat options make GPTRACK50's debut a thoroughly charming game. A certain sense of repetition and some rough edges in the gameplay detract from its polish, but its good ideas and ability to entertain more than make up for it.
Kakuchopurei - Jonathan Toyad - 60 / 100
Much like its titular undead lead, Stupid Never Dies shows signs of decay in spite of its potential. It's dumb fun distilled in a familiar-yet-funky package; you could do worse.
MKAU Gaming - Yasmin Noble - 6 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is an interesting one. Its punk aesthetic lends itself perfectly to an action-packed roguelike, but the gameplay couldn’t keep up. The Body Hack system, unlockable abilities and stat upgrades add a little extra flavour to the sauce, but ultimately, I was left wanting more from the dungeons themselves. Stupid Never Dies felt more like a snack than a fulfilling meal.
MonsterVine - Shaan Joshi - 2 / 5
I genuinely wanted to find the fun in Stupid Never Dies. With each run I started, I hoped its combat would finally kick into high gear. With each boss I beat, I prayed for a new mechanic that wouldn’t force me to grind run after run until I could reach the next boss with a high enough level and enough time left on the clock. With each trip to the body-hacking upgrade shop, I was sure the right equipment would present itself and let me rule the Underworld once and for all.
But, sadly, that moment never came. Instead, I had to grapple with the reality of the situation. Rather than lean into the roguelikes it clearly takes inspiration from, Stupid Never Dies is content to lift ideas and mechanics from the genre without any idea how to assemble them into a fun experience. It’s a complete buzzkill of a Frankenstein, and is perfectly happy to let you shamble through its slog of a campaign.
Netto’s Game Room - Benjamin Bell - 4 / 5
Stupid Never Dies is a solid debut title for GPTRACK50. Injected with '90s punk rock DNA, the game features an addictive gameplay loop, engaging characters, and unique transformation mechanics. It is pure, dumb fun that makes it easy to jump back in time and time again.
NookGaming - Andrew Camac - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies reminds me strongly of a late-PS2 era AA title or mid-360 era titles like Neverdead or Splatterhouse. It has a strong heart, but it is just missing a few things, making this an experience that isn’t going to hit for everyone. Even if it does land for you, it will likely still feel like it has some rough, jagged edges. It’s a very strong visual package and will no doubt garner something of a cult following in its wake. With a strong development team of ex-Capcom staff, it may feel slightly disappointing that the combat isn’t as smooth as it needs to be given the high standards of their previous action game experience. If you can come to grips with that, you’ll be treated to a fun dungeon-crawling experience with a punk-rock attitude.
PSX Brasil - Paulo Roberto Montanaro - Portuguese - 85 / 100
With boldness and charisma, Stupid Never Dies shows some minor stumbles in pacing - or lack thereof - and in the targeting of attacks in certain circumstances, but nothing that diminishes the graphic quality, the intense combat system, and a plot that knows very well how to rely on the fundamental principles of the genre and the thematic absurdity to bring the lightness that the end of the world deserves.
Pizza Fria - Higor Phelipe Neto Nicoli - Portuguese - 8.5 / 10
It is precisely in this variety, combined with the fluidity of the confrontations and the constant introduction of new features, that Stupid Never Dies finds its greatest strengths. A must-have experience for fans of hack and slash and roguelike games, especially for those who appreciate action games full of personality, varied abilities, and absurd situations.
Polygon - Giovanni Colantonio - Unscored
I could spend a lot of time dissecting the nitty-gritty systems that make a combat system feel competent or not, but it wouldn’t begin to describe the intangible discomfort of playing Stupid Never Dies.
ProGamers.life - Nelson Acosta - Spanish - 7.5 / 10
The combination of the roguelite genre with SUDA51’s aesthetic makes Stupid Never Dies a game that will catch many people’s attention. It offers a wealth of original and entertaining ideas, though they arrive in a somewhat inconsistent package; yet, despite clear design flaws, it can be highly enjoyable—even addictive—thanks to an effective combat and progression system, even if it takes a little while to truly hit its stride.
Push Square - Sammy Barker - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is an acquired taste, but its lurid aesthetic and unhinged storytelling at least gives it a bit of personality in a crowded market. As a roguelite, it's got a good power curve and enough mechanics to keep you coming back, although sometimes its systems and narrative can get in the way of letting you just play the game. It's difficult to stand out in this genre these days, but GPTRACK50 has done enough here to deliver an experience that feels fresh – despite its underlying similarities to other titles in the genre.
RPG Site - Josh Torres - 7 / 10
While developer GPTrack50's debut title has its share of faults, this roguelite action RPG's art direction is such a tour de force that it drives the entirety of the charming, irreverent atmosphere that hearkens back to the late 90s / early 00s.
Raider King - Skeith Ruch - 7.8 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is a game with mountainous highs and abyssal lows. The game's combat and roguelike mechanics are as perfect as they can be, running through the dungeon to eat and become enemies never failed to satisfy me throughout my entire playthrough. However, those aspects are dragged down by the game's slow pacing issues and the story's treatment of Davy's love interest. While I love the game's tone and the enjoy it while I'm playing it, these aspects drag down what could have otherwise been a perfect experience.
Shacknews - Lucas White - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is an adrenaline rush, something that explodes with colors and silliness and action and pizazz, but doesn’t really aim higher than junk food.
SmashPad - Andrew Farrell - 2 / 5
A roguelite focused on letting you transform into different monsters to fight through a dungeon could be very cool, but Stupid Never Dies is not that game.
TechRaptor - William Worrall - 8 / 10
Stupid Never Dies has fantastic style and the mindless hack-and-slash gameplay of a PS2 classic, but with all the modern QoL changes we expect in 2026.
Thumb Wars - Luke Addison - 7 / 10
Stupid Never Dies is a mixture of good character design, interesting and funny dialogue between characters you'll grow to love, and a bunch of overly complicated systems that don't always have an obvious benefit. The combat, while hectic and fast-paced, isn't as fun without being swamped and surrounded by too many enemies. Otherwise, it's too easy.
Virtualni Kutak - Milan Radosavljević - Unknown - 8.5 / 10
Super creative, mechanically dense, and stupidly funny, Stupid Never Dies pairs an utterly unhinged premise, a cowardly zombie flushing himself down a toilet to save his frozen human girlfriend, with some of the deepest, most rewarding action-roguelite mechanics of the year. By forcing you to play as aggressively as you can, bite your heal off the enemies and take their forms, GPTRACK50 channels the chaotic energy of the PS3 era into a frantic, fiercely addictive 3D roguelite that just might cure genre fatigue.
