An orthodontist I recently visited had a back game room.
Haven't seen one of these since I was inside a McDonald's years ago but those had N64s inside of them.

Still remember the hundreds of hours I put in replaying BG3 and RDR2 just to get those 100%. It was actually a horrible experience tbh but the impulse pushed me through the grind over the course of a few months. Luckily I had holidays to spend doing stupid shit like this. Any other masochist out there who just had to go all the way to satisfy this sadistic itch?

Just recently played God of War 3 after getting into the OG Greek God of War games since I was a fan of the new Norse God of War duology, and holy moly is this one of the best video game intro sequences I've ever seen.

I was just thinking about long war for x-com(though the base game is already great) and it made me curious if there are any games out there that are bad on their own but saved and turned great due to a mod that changes it for the better. I was thinking more so about large expansion mods but any example would be nice.

I think the Far Cry 5 soundtrack is worth a listen even if you have never played the game. Dan Romer is probably better known for his TV and movie work but to me he's the Far Cry guy. It's the only game where I actually enjoyed waiting at the main menu & the loading screens and it was because of the music.
Edit: Thanks, looks like I've got a reason to check out some games I've never played before

I've always been interested in languages, how they form, how they evolve, etc. so I'm making a game ALL ABOUT making your own language. I also like to have fun, though, so it's kind of (very) dorky. It's called Misnomers by Nick Oueijan. It's an evolving recursive word game which means that every new word you make feeds into the definition of future words AND that the words you have already defined will naturally change over time (just like the semantic drift and phonological change of a real language!). And as a bonus? You can use your save file to translate the internet into your custom, weirdo language, too!
It's like if you played MadLibs but each MadLib itself was made up of other MadLibs. I shared this with the folks over at r/conlangs so figure I'd share it over here as well!
The demo is out now on Steam and I'd love some feedback! I'd also like to see what ridiculous situations you get yourselves into - screenshots and whatnot. Let me know what you think and give it a wishlist if its up your alley.

I have over 8000 hours in CS and about 4000 hours in Dota2 and i'm used to always looking for the "best" way to do anything in any game.
I recently decided to dive into the world of single player games and noticed that i do the same thing in them too, missing out on a lot of fun. I NEED to unlock all the achievements, find all the hidden items, complete all side quests and so on.
In Dark Souls, i watched guides ahead of time for the best weapon builds and so on. I'd look up the best order to finish all bosses and so on. Basically turned everything into a checklist.
Lately, i've been trying to stop doing that and just choose what i like and enjoy the process, but it's still really hard. Am i the only one like this, or am i actually the only one?

Update: Folks, thanks so much to everyone for your comments, i've read almost all of them. I can't reply to everyone, but many of you shared some helpful advice.
