Help! Tuning a 3” 1S 18650 quad?

Crux 3 frame, 1202.5 11,500 KV motors, 3018 props, Happymodel X14 AIO.

He’s a jiggly boy. Ive lowered the pitch and roll P settings and increased pitch and roll D. I’ve gotten it to fly reliably, but has a constant tiny jiggle during hover. It sort of goes away during forward flight.

Spare Raspberry Pi + an old VTX = a free sim you fly in your analog goggles (or hdmi)

Some of you saw StickTime, the FPV sim that runs on the radio. Now it runs on a Raspberry Pi too.

The Pi sends the picture through a VTX, so any analog goggles or FPV monitor picks it up (that's my monitor in the clip). I fly with my own radio over ELRS WiFi. No PC, no cable.

Free and open source: https://github.com/juricabi/sticktime-pi

Try it if you have raspberry pi lying around :)

Li-ion sag...different? A PSA

So been doing some long range flying with an 8s 5000mah Molicel 21700 pack. Nothing flippy, just cinematic cruising.

Yesterday I had a decent headwind on return and needed to climb so was pulling 30a for about 20 sec (well below the 60a continuous rating). My voltage steadily dropped from 3.45v to 2.9 even though the pack was still half full. I thought I was losing the drone, but when I got the throttle back down, the voltage slowly climbed back to 3.4 and I was able to make the last 1.5mi home, landing at 3.2v and only 3500mah consumed.

This scared the hell out of me - I've experienced sag on punch outs - but didn't know Li-ions have this slow sag and slow recovery on moderate loads. I did a little research and it sounds like this is normal - and different than Lipos. Glad I know now. Have you experienced this?

NEWBIE Betaflight Autotune

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello guys,

I'm having a lot of fun with my Meteor75 and I just finished building the Mario 8.

Both of them fly well, the Mario 8 still needs some soldering and another DIY battery but overall with default PIDs and filters I manage to lift it off the ground and hovering.

My question for you is:

Among the videos about tuning, what do you suggest to use for both my drones? The three options I'm considering are:

- Betaflight Autotune

- PIDToolbox (on patreon)

- Build my own

About betaflight autotune I heard is not performing very well.

I would also love to make my own SW (I have a degree in this lol), but I'd like to have some advices from people who have done a similar thing.

Thanks!

Help! Best drone to keep?

I've been fixing drones as a hobby for a while, and recently got 2 FPV drones: a DJI FPV and an iFlight Nazgul V2 F5d V2 (o3). I have 5 batteries for the DJI and 3 for the Nazgul, as well as goggles v2 for both and a RM tx15 that I had been practicing with in liftoff for a while. I plan to do freestyle and maybe eventually try racing. It's my impression the DJI FPV is generally considered bad overall for manual, but should I buy something less powerful/expensive than the Nazgul?

October 2026 - Pure Analog Goggles

I am looking to upgrade my box eachine ev800D goggles to a slimmer style (like fatshark dominators etc).
I’ve read all the latency tests and it seems like the top of the line is HDzero in regards to latency. I really like the HD02 from fatshark but they obviously are old and discontinued.
Any recommendations on upgrades? Fatshark HDO+ / sky04xPro / hdzero goggles 2?

Mainly looking for slim goggle feel not box.
Thanks!!

NEWBIE Building my first drone, need help.

So I’m about to start ordering parts for my first build. I have absolutely no idea where to even start. My buddy has a deep space seeker 3 and I’d like it to perform kind of like that as that drone is a beast. Trying to keep it as cheap as possible. Probably going to make it analog at first and maybe upgrade it to 04 later on. I have 3s batteries already so was hoping to power it with those. Was looking at the Roma 3” frame on AliExpress, just because it’s cheap, then maybe the speedy bee f405 stack. If anyone has any suggestions I’d really appreciate it.

NEWBIE TBS lucid stack + TBS unify PRO32 HV + RunCam Pheonix Joshua Bradwell (HELP PLEASE)

• Upvotes

I'm brand new to FPV, and this is my first build. I recently bought a load of parts that I thought were all compatible, as they were all TBS and analog, since that's all I thought mattered, but it seems that none of the connectors from the VTX work with the FC, and none of the connectors from the camera work with the VTX. I have tried watching videos, but nothing seems to apply to me, and none of them really help my situation. I would really appreciate any help with this, along with tips for future builds. Thanks

I just spent over 630 EUR on parts for less than 2 drones. I'm reeling. What has happened to this hobby?

SpeedyBee Mario 8 99.74€

SB Mario 5 52.50€

o4 kit for Mario 8 22,32€

SB F405 v5 Stack 105.02€

2 sets T-motor C8.5 props 55.27€

1 set T-motor F100 1100KV 161.32€

2 HGLRC M100 GPS 38€

2 GEPRC Momoda2 Antennae 23.98€

2 GEPRC Tri band antennae 25€

iFlight buzzer 11€

Vifly buzzer 12,81€

20 M3x12 screws 10,79€

2 sets HQprop T3x3x3 12.61€

This is without VTX and without any batteries.

Mainly Aliexpress. I managed to get a couple of things from EU websites but stock at most places is extremely low. I also checked Taobao but the price differences are honestly not huge on most things, meaning that shipping and tax would make it a rub.
