I've played Warhammer for 15 years, I own 10k of Aeldari, space marines, and have painted a few other 500 point armies and I've always found it fun to a degree. I'm a casual player and only play the game every 1 - 2 months now. I used to play it more but friends moved around and had kids and we struggle to get a game in like we used to. I still paint and read the lore though, and follow rules updates.
I've had 6 games of this edition and from a casual, play it with your friends over beers point of view it isn't very fun or satisfying. Mixing detachments is fun, but you're very limited in what you can actually mix. The terrain rules are an improvement, but the rules themselves feel patched together to make the game work and none of them feel very intentional, especially for Aeldari, Drukhari and Blood Angels. Sacrificing most of my army to win points without killing much isn't fun. Spamming units to score secondaries isn't fun.
Even lore wise I don't really know what actually matters. The Lion appeared and then nothing happened. Exodites are in, but there zero lore tie in to explain why I should care. They're cool, they look cool, I've read about them and seen sketches of them already and I want them to exist. None of it seems to matter though. Everything in the lore feels frozen even though big characters keep on appearing. The rules seem frozen with no new codexes coming out for at least 4 months in an edition where the majority of models (space marines) got an update.
This edition feels shallow. The rules feel rushed, the lore is half baked. It feels like they made an edition to fit their release schedule instead of doing it to fix actual issues. The rules weren't perfect last edition but they were fun. Maybe I'm just getting old but as a casual player it's hard to get excited about the game at the moment.

I was really hoping this year would break the streak.

I made a cute little mold so I could play with the Spiritseer from the Infinity’s Lament model and be able to have it on the display base the rest of the time.
It also ends up nearly the exact same height as the other model just in case I encounter one of “those guys.”

I don’t know what transfers to put on the flags or on the cloth. Can someone help please

My friend was very curious about this because of the following description.
“The weapons wielded by the Asuryani in close quarters are just as deadly as those utilised at range. The gently purring motors of their chainswords spin glittering monomolecular-edged teeth, and shimmering fields dance along the keen edges of their blades as they close in for the kill.” ——eldar 9e codex

I have this idea of organising my Priority Assets force into 3 sections and 3-5 waves / layers and I’m interested to hear everyone’s thoughts.
Section A is focused on contesting the centre. While Section B focuses on our Expansion objective. For priority assets, we are usually good if we can do that while performing an action or two and scoring decent secondaries. Section C holds the home field and screens out deep-strike threats.
Wave 1 is the ‘Vanguard’ that pushes forward turn 1 to tap an objective, perform an action, and screen the following waves or deny opponent positioning. They are entirely expendable and not expected to survive past turn 1.
Wave 2 are cost-effective ‘Battleline’ units that are largely expendable again, but move forward to contest objectives from turn 2 onwards. Guardians with a lot of bodies and OC 2 are better supported and can contest an objective even if they don’t wipe their opponents off it.
Wave 3 are the ‘Counterpunch’ units: powerful damage-dealers that we need to make sure they time their move carefully to ensure they do their job. They rely on Wave 1 and 2 to keep them safe in turns 1 & 2, then slap back hard – ideally in turn 3, or turn 2 if things are going well, and hopefully not because we gave been overrun!
Wave 4 are ‘Fire Support’ units that can provide fire from behind waves 1-3, helping them to finish off their targets. Ideally wave 4 survive most of the game.
Wave 5 are a handful of action-oriented units. Low-cost units that can move quickly and get where they need to in order to score points.
The image on this post is me making sense of my Aspect Host list, so that I deploy and play this list according to the plan. In previous matches I have been drawn into sending out my Wave 3 units too soon, or ineffectively screening Wave 3 and 4 units with my frontline units.
This seems to make sense to me, and it builds on number of ideas I’ve seen others discuss, so hopefully it helps me to improve the dismal win-rate I have in the weekly semi-competitive league at my LGS!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the High Elves in Warhammer Fantasy, but for some reason, I’ve never really been interested in the Eldar in 40K. I’ve primarily been a Space Marine player, specifically Blood Angels, but lately I’ve been thinking about walking the Path of the Eldar.
For those who play Craftworld Aeldari, what should I know before getting started? What should I expect in terms of lore, playstyle, strengths, weaknesses, and the overall experience compared to playing Space Marines? I’d love to hear your advice!
Will probably do more
I've mostly stuck to KillTeam so far, but I've been getting slowly drawn into the big 40k lately. I really like the look of wind riders and shroud runners, and I know there's a detachment that's all about jet bikes. How fun is it actually to play?

Hi everyone, I'm 40k-curious, as in I've never actually collected or played a game but I've read the rules, have a codex, look up advice and watch battles on youtube. I've begun drafting a fantasy 1000 point army that could be the core of a collection, alla Brent at CraftworldEldar's suggestion. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this and if it seems like an alright starting army, or if there are any big, glaring holes in it (or if it's just an inefficient and unpowered use of points).
The army is:
Aspect Host Detachment Rules
TOTAL: 995 points
I like how this army list is pretty thematically consistent for Aspect Host, and I feel like for someone just starting in the hobby it seems like both a reasonable amount of models to buy and to paint (31 or 32 models counting aspect shrine tokens). I do wonder if there isn't enough shooting power in this list and if it's too melee-focussed. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I have not played 40K for a long time and am just getting back into the playing side of the hobby with Aeldari! I have never played this army before but I understand that sub faction matters a lot, and I want to make sure my army works before spending money on stuff that won’t go together.
As for rule of cool, I really have a preference for the Craftworld units specifically (so no Corsairs, Harlequins, or Exodites specifically). My goal is to build out 1k and then eventually 2k.
Currently I own:
- Lhykhis
- Jain Zar
- 5 Warp Spiders
- Howling Banshees
What core units make sense to start establishing solid bones for an army? Thanks!

A few options I am considering:
Swap a unit of Wraithblades w/ axes to a unit with swords?
Swap Wayleaper for Vyper. Make something a bit more tanky with the -1 hit, and better synergy with armoured warhost
And/or
Swap Eldrad for another Wraithlord.
Thanks for any feedback and I am very excited to play Eldar!

Hey everyone! I'm fairly new to Aeldari, coming over from Black Templars, and I'm looking for some feedback on my first army list.
I'm playing 1,000 points per player in 2v2 games, so 2,000 points per team. My teammate plays Blood Angels.
I'm running Corsair Coterie at 975/1,000 points.
My goal is to play a fast, mobile army focused on board control, objectives, and forcing opponents to react to threats across the battlefield rather than fighting head-on.
I'm also trying to build an army that can operate fairly independently, since my teammate and I don't always coordinate our strategies.
I already own all the models, so I'm not looking to completely rebuild the list, but I'm open to suggestions for future improvements.
Detachment: Corsair Coterie
Battle Focus: Agile Manoeuvres
Characters — 130 pts
Infantry — 455 pts
5 Corsair Skyreavers — 100 pts
5 Corsair Voidscarred — 70 pts
5 Corsair Voidscarred — 70 pts
5 Fire Dragons — 110 pts
5 Warp Spiders — 105 pts
Monster — 125 pts
Wraithlord — 125 pts
Vehicle — 150 pts
Fire Prism — 150 pts
Dedicated Transport — 115 pts
Wave Serpent — 115 pts
Total: 975/1,000 points — 25 points remaining
A few things I'm curious about:
I've got 25 points left over that I haven't found a useful way to spend.
Any constructive criticism or tactical advice would be appreciated!
