Question When are we turning our furnaces on? Or have you already?
Loving this epic stretch of sunny days in the 60’s. I sleep hot so keeping a window cracked with the overnight temps in the 40’s-50’s doesn’t bother me. Curious to know if a daytime internal home temp in the low 60’s is too low. It feels a little chilly in the morning but the afternoon sun warms things up again. Have you turned it in yet?

Politics New Attack Ads
Its a miracle, all the Husted campaign attack on Brown ads that have been on loop for a month disappeared this morning and are now coincidentally replaced with a loop of Greg Levy ads that attack Brown. So not only are they playing dirty tricks, they're too cheap to even bother keeping a few Husted ads running for plausible deniability.

Randomly watching some old Browns highlights and look who appears to be "great" friends with Art Modell. They're both pieces of shit, but hey now I know the shit is even stinkier.

Recommendations Headed to Cleveland tomorrow!
hi! so i want to go to all 50 states and tomorrow I’m driving 6.5 hours to cleveland, OH from NJ. It will be my 22nd state :)
I have a little drafted itinerary, but wanted to see from locals if there is anything they recommend! I’m a big nature fan, love to thrift or little stores, cafes, music, history, and drinks. i also will be seeking out a dispensary if anyone has their favorites!
i’m staying close to the campus district/playhouse square, i have a car and don’t mind public transport.
my itinerary:
get there, grab lunch, and head to the rock and roll hall of fame museum. check into the air bnb, relax, then i would like to see the sunset and get dinner. Not sure if there is places near playhouse square area that you really recommend or go over to W 25th get dinner and check out some stores near by?
next day: get some cafe or breakfast if you have any recommendations, near or not near the area i said i was staying! then planning to go to Cuyahoga and walk the ledges trail. relax a little at our place, maybe walk down to the 5th street arcades, and then head to the art museum and little Italy for dinner. i keep seeing Mama santa’s recommend.
then next day go home!
is there any spots you think is worth checking out different from what i listed or any historical or music sites you recommend to see?
i also want to somehow squeeze in going to paradise galleria lol
thanks everyone <3

Question Red glow under the water at solstice steps
Last night a little past 9:00 my fiance and I were at Lakewood Park and noticed a red glow coming from under the water. It looked to be about a mile out northwest of the compass at the solstice steps however measuring distance on the water is pretty difficult. I contacted the police because the water was so rough I wanted to make sure a boat did not go under. They sent the coast guard out to check it out supposedly after I called it in. Any idea what this was? I've been checking the news and stuff all day with no updates.

Question Brook Park Abandoned Housing Development
I'm young so I don't know the backstory of why we have these abandoned roads, which looked like a housing development was here many years ago. Located off of Sheldon Rd, Grayton Rd and Ruple Pkwy. Such a sad thing to see these homes gone. Is there any ideas of what to put here instead? The road names are Crestridge Dr, Wildwood Ave, Wentworth Ave, Westview Ave and Grayton Rd. The last picture which is Grayton Rd has a sign that says "No Trespassing, Authorized Personnel Only," "Not a Through Street" and "No Outlet." I do wonder what is down this road and according to Google Maps looks to be a house back there. So are able to get trash taken care of and there mail delivered?! Would love to live there. Seems like a middle of nowhere, thus its peaceful and quiet.

Discussion PSA: You can opt out of Amazon drone delivery!
And for the love of all that is good, and your neighbors (good or not), and requiring companies that extract sooooo much wealth from our communities to pay at least a little bit back in the form of employing people, please do!
Amazon has gone out of its way to hide its "contact us" option, so here are the instructions.
- From their main page, scroll to the bottom and click "Customer Service." (It's the bottom right option on my computer, the last one under the heading "Let Us Help You.")
- Under "Can't Find What You're Looking For," click "Something Else."
- Then click "Amazon Drone Delivery."
- Then click "I need more help."
.... and you will finally get an option to chat with a customer service rep.
If anyone knows an easier way, please put it in the comments!!!
p.s. Before people attack me for still using Amazon: believe me, I hear you. But I'm pretty broke right now, and when there's something I can't avoid buying, I have to get the cheapest option. And, and this is key, Jeff Bezos is not my problem to solve. Every billionaire represents a public policy failure, and that's on bought politicians and their voters. My piddly purchases every month make exactly zero difference in that man's bottom line or dipshit attitude.

Recommendations Best Bar for Solo Female to Watch Game Tonight
Edit: I’m in Cleveland and I am not neighborhood loyal. Used to big city traffic that takes 45 minutes to get anywhere so driving doesn’t psych me out.
Pretty much that. After a couple of bad historical experiences with people, I’ve been more wary to go out alone these days. But dang dude…I want to watch the game around people and not alone in my apartment. I want to cheer alongside people.
Downtown seems overwhelming and like maybe a shit show so trying to avoid going too far into the belly of the beast. I’m a 40F and I want to be able to drive, park, have maybe three light weight beers and chill without being concerned about the vibes of those around me. Still new to town and I don’t get out much.
Really hoping to eventually make friends but that’s harder as you get older especially since so many folks have families. Wanted to be a mom but it didn’t happen, so instead I now really want to watch baseball with a beer around good people.
And yes, I’ve tried meetup groups and doing all the regular suggestions but I haven’t found my people yet I guess. I’ve met lovely introverts and I’ve met fun heavy partiers but I haven’t met many folks who chill in the in between of low key energy while also enjoying exploring life. But if you’re here, DM me and we can get coffee and bird or people watch.

Recommendations Where do you go for dates?
I almost feel silly posting this, but here goes. My husband and I have been together for 10 years and have a few pretty young kids. My in laws recently have started offering to watch them so we can go on dates. It’s wonderful. The first couple times we did practical things like pick out tile for a home remodel, go car shopping, etc. Now, though, we’re running out of things to do. Compounding that, my in laws come over EARLY for date night. I’m talking like 3 or 4. I get it because they want to spend time with the kids before bedtime, but that means my husband and I now have to find something to do outside of the house for like 5 or 6 hours. When we were dating, we were pretty broke so we didn’t do many activities. We’ve never been movie or theater people or sports people. Mostly we just like hanging out together, but doing something is nice. Any suggestions? Thanks!
ETA - thanks for the suggestions! I should have been more clear - I’m looking specifically for things we can’t really do with the kids. We love the zoo, the museums, the metroparks, farms, Stan hwyet, CVNP, etc, and we do those frequently with our kids. Ideally we’d do things that we can’t do with the kids.
