Hey everyone! I'm 34 and considering relocating from Charleston, SC, to Cleveland. I'm looking for recommendations on affordable neighborhoods where I could realistically live without a car.
Ideally, I'm looking for:
- A studio or one-bedroom apartment around $700–$800/month.
- A reasonably urban, walkable neighborhood, not a car-dependent suburb.
- A grocery store and basic necessities within walking distance.
- Reliable public transportation to get around the city for work, including evenings and overnight hours.
I have a background in hotel security and will likely be looking for similar work in Cleveland, so access to downtown and other major employment areas would be a plus.
For those who know Cleveland well, what neighborhoods or specific areas would you recommend? And is my rental budget realistic for a decent studio or one-bedroom?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: walkable for me means I can get to work on public transit. You know, Is there a bus stop within ten-15 blocks i can ride across the city or will get me to a connector to one that will? Is there somewhere I can walk or ride a bus to grab groceries? Not like walk around and grab coffee and like go to the bar and shit like that. Answers have been great so far. Thanks!!
