To the kids in the black SUV driving around before the Elder game tonight

I hope you see this and know that the guy you decided to just hurl a racial slur at then drive away laughing sincerely hopes that you see this. I want you to know I hope you evolve past whatever is in your heart that made you decide it was appropriate to do that. May you grow beyond and consider this a dumb mistake you made once as a kid, just as I'm choosing to let my anger and sadness go with this post.

It has been a busy month for the Loveland Can Opener. This van had a issue today. Stuck with plenty of damage to the roof.

in search of🔎 Follow up post: Looking for a therapist

I’m looking for a therapist who gets schizoaffective disorder. And help with generalized anxiety. I know there’s a stigma with schizophrenia but it’s like a broken arm same deal- a medical condition you have to treat and live with and yes, I’ve seen a beautiful mind lol and just continue to help me on my journey in life in what I want to experience next.

For those who can relate, who’s world class here in Cincy? Also, any other outside the box treatments you done to continue to be your best version of yourself with this? I have so many deeper questions for those who’ve been blessed by this amazing disease 🦠, so please share your story and how you went into the colosseum of life and said to yourself, and the people around you and especially the disorder: “Are you not entertained?!” Similar to Maximus Decimus Meridius conquering the whole pride of lions who has won the favor of Cesar over this disease.

Let’s have a discussion and give recs! 🧐😌🙂

Politics ✔ Trump is rallying at NKU's Truist Arena tomorrow (Sat 10/17). Short notice, but is anyone in Cincy/NKY planning to protest?

Post image
715 Upvotes

Affiliation: We're Burning River Brigade, a volunteer protest group out of Cleveland. We're not organizing this one and won't be there (too far for our crew). We're just putting it out there in case someone local wants to pick it up.

Why it's relevant here: the rally is at Truist Arena on the NKU campus in Highland Heights, just south of downtown Cincinnati. It was announced on short notice, and most local groups already have NO KINGS events planned this weekend, so we figured Cincy folks might not have it on their radar.

Details: Saturday, October 17th. Doors open at 10 AM, and Trump is scheduled to speak at 2 PM. Official event page with venue and times: https://events.gop.com/events/midterm-rally-in-highland-heights-kentucky-president-donald-j-trump

If anyone goes, a suggestion: protesters usually start setting up about a half hour before doors open, so around 9:30 AM, and wrap up once the motorcade's inside.

Keep it safe and peaceful:

- Nonviolent, always.

- Stay on public sidewalks. Campus grounds may have their own event-day rules, so check NKU's guidance.

- Don't block roads, driveways, or entrances.

- Don't engage rally-goers or counter-protesters.

- Follow police instructions.

- It'll be a cold morning, so dress in layers and bring a buddy.

- If things get tense, walk away.

Side note: Truist Arena holds about 9,400 for concerts (https://nkunorse.com/facilities/truist-arena/25). Trump's Youngstown rally on Monday filled roughly half the Covelli Centre's seats, per local TV: https://www.wfmj.com/news/local-news/youngstown/trump-rally-high-in-energy-despite-sluggish-attendance-numbers/article_39974fb8-2c80-4b2b-a424-7f15526082dd.html. If you're going inside, a slow pan of the whole arena would settle a lot of arguments.

Any local organizers out there? Happy to answer questions in the comments. We've organized three of these already, Vandalia, Patriot Games in Geneva, and just this past week in Youngstown, Ohio.

Food 🍕🌮 Unpopular opinion: If you go to Pandafest and post here tomorrow about what a scam it is, you deserve no sympathy.

It’s a traveling food fest at Smale this weekend and a huuuge grift. There has been a mountain of warnings from every city about what a ripoff and a con this is. If you claim you “didn’t know” it means you neglected to do your due diligence in researching the event before going. If you haven’t heard of it, please use this as your forewarning.

Here are some pictures of Cincinnati I took on my trip on the BB River boat tonight. I think Cincinnati has one of the best skylines in the Midwest

Also, the "bat signal" was out in Cincinnati tonight, not quite sure why.

in search of🔎 Private Road Repair

I live in a small street that's designated a private road (meaning the city of Cincinnati doesn't maintain it), and it's absolutely falling apart.

It's a low income neighborhood so the residents can't afford to fully redo the road. We've filled the pot holes with asphalt patch and gravel, but that lasts only a few months. The road is more pot hole than road at this point.

Does anyone have advice on 1. Ways we can get the city to assist? Or 2. Recommendations on more affordable repair options?

Any idea what happened at the Bridge construction site under second Street?

Just drove by and there were 8 to 10 firetrucks and a whole firehouse worth of fireman all standing near one of the pits. I hope everyone’s OK.

Total Wireless/Verizon coverage locally and any issues porting to Total Wireless?

• Upvotes

I'm thinking of switching to the $20 Total Wireless BYOD plan which includes unlimited priority data on Verizon. How's their service locally? I'm assuming it's solid but just making sure there are no surprises before switching.

Anyone else switch to the plan? It seems like an incredible deal, but I've heard horror stories about their support and people having porting issues. Anyone have possible or negative experiences?

Pets Looking for veterinarian recommendations in and around North College Hill for a multi-cat home

Post image
18 Upvotes

We just recently moved to this area and are looking for a veterinarian for our cats. We have a lot of rescued cats that can make it hard to find a decent vet. We can't afford to do regular yearly check ups for 10+ cats but we do try to immediately get any of our kitties seen at the first sign of issues or changes.

Does anyone have experience with local vets they would recommend? Know of any vets that will see new cats that aren't already in their system or that don't charge a crazy examination fee for every little thing like refilling prescriptions? Any good emergency vets that won't cost an arm and a leg if the issues aren't major?

I'd like to get my oldest cat, Garfield, to a vet soon. He is dealing with some possible arthritis or stiffness in his back legs that is making it a little difficult for him to get around and I've also noticed lately that he has been urinating very large amounts at a time. He has always drank a lot of water, but hasn't always had these giant pee clumps. I know that could be a sign of kidney disease, diabetes, or hyperthyroidism so I'd like to get him checked out ASAP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll add a picture of my Garfy boy

Food 🍕🌮 Pizza parlor vibes?

Cold rainy Friday has me craving cold beer and good pizza someplace with a nice pub type of vibe. Don't want to be the only people in there, but also don't want to have to get on a wait list. No bright lights. Doesn't have to be the best pizza in the city - just a good pie and chill vibe. Playoff baseball on a bonus. Ideas?
