Food šŸ•šŸŒ® Here for a month, must try restaurants?

Basically the title. Here for a month, want to see what everyone would say are the best restaurants to go to. I should say, I hate fancy restaurants, I want something more like what’s the best pizza or the best sandwich or the best burrito in town? Open to any in all food, love to try new things!

Lot E 297 W Mehring Way

Hello!

I parked in this lot on Sunday 9/27. The ā€œarmā€ for the gate let me go straight into the lot and let me leave as well with no prompt to pay. I recently just got a letter in the mail from a company called Ace. They are requesting that I pay $34 for a parking violation. Do I really need to pay this?

Nightlife 🌃 Alton Brown @ Taft 10/20 -- will they let me in if I'm late?

So this is an etiquette question as much as anything. My daughter and I have birthday tickets to see Alton Brown's show tomorrow night at Taft. However, before we got the tickets we thought her postseason volleyball match this week would be tonight. No, it's tomorrow. the VB starts at 5:30 and Alton's show starts at 7:30, so there's a good chance we can get downtown to make the show, but there's also a good chance that we will get there after the performance has already started.

I understand that it's a pretty significant faux pas to enter a play or a stage show after it has already started until intermission. If we are late, will they make us wait in the lobby for the first half of the show or something?

Advice is appreciated.

in search ofšŸ”Ž Anyone know of a good import auto mechanic

Hello all, hope everyone is well! I live out near Eastgate with a mid 00’s Honda Civic. Used to be an auto tech myself years back and trying to get a simple job done….. well you all know how it goes, simple job turns into a full day and more work to do then you started with and I just don’t have the time to keep screwing with it.

I’m looking to see if anyone has any good auto shops they recommend in the east cincy area, don’t mind paying a decent price as long as they’re known for quality in their work.

Thank you all!

Community šŸ™ How to advocate for better public transit?

I recently took a trip to Europe and was floored by the difference in the quality and functionality of the public transit systems in every city I visited as compared with the US. It really made me understand just how good it could be, and just how bad it is in most American cities. Apart from voting for the most transit-friendly candidates and issues, what are the best ways for me to get involved in advocacy for public transit in Cincinnati? What can I do to increase awareness or get more people to be interested in public transit?

Jobs/Career CDL trucking companies in/near Cincinnati that are disability-friendly in hiring?

Hey Friends, I’m starting from zero — no CDL, no experience, willing to do OTR across the country. I’ve been looking at Roehl, Western Express, Schneider, Knight, and a few local options, but I want to hear from people who’ve actually been through it.
My main question: which companies have you seen actually be patient and understanding during the hiring process for drivers with disabilities? Ive been on SSDI due to mental health and I’ve noticed recruiters get noticeably cooler the second I mention it, even though I’m cleared to work and would pass the DOT physical. I’m not asking them to lower standards — I just want a company where disclosing doesn’t kill the conversation.

Bonus if you’ve got experience with:
Company-sponsored CDL training (Roehl, Mast, etc.)

SAP-friendly carriers

Local or regional routes out of the Cincinnati area

What the pay actually looked like in year one

Appreciate any real experiences, good or bad. Trying to make a smart first move here.

Community šŸ™ Meat space meet up

I am looking to gauge interest in a regular meet up cadence for anyone who might be interested. I see a lot of meet ups that are specific to an interest or topic—but what I am interested in is a meet up for people who want to have conversations about anything/everything. Not a curated group of like-minded people—actually would prefer a healthy diversity of opinions and backgrounds… but, would hope everyone has a willingness to discuss things and exchange ideas. Before the internet, we not only knew how to talk to each other—but we also knew how to listen to each other… I’d like to get back to that, if it still exists.

The particulars can be decided later—I’d suggest something like a public location and a stated time window. Could be meeting for coffee, drinks, or whatever. I doubt I’m the first to suggest something like this—so if this already exists, please feel free to share a link or dm me.

Thanks!

Edited to add: I didn’t realize the ā€œmeat spaceā€ thing would be misinterpreted. It is meant to be a funny way of saying ā€œnot onlineā€ (humans = meat… as opposed to online where humans are represented as information packets on the internet)

Relocation/Moving In desperate need - living space!

Hey Cincy fam,

Without giving too much I for away, my current living situation is absolute hell. I am looking to move with a budget of 1000/month for an apartment with enough room for myself and my dog. Ideally somewhere around Goshen, Milford, Loveland, Mason. I’d love to live in Milford or somewhere close to Goshen/loveland border.

I have a good amount of money saved up and I’m not sure about investing in a condo. I’m a bit nervous but also hate the idea of paying rent and someone else’s mortgage.

Please, I beg lol, if you have anything ideas or thoughts pls send them my way! Much love!!

in search ofšŸ”Ž Vaccine incentives around town?

We enjoyed utilizing the Kroger promo $20 grocery coupon in exchange for getting a Covid and flu shot there the last few years. Apparently they’re not doing it this year. Any other places have good incentives or coupons to take advantage of? TIA!
