‼️PLEASE HELP MY FRIEND FIND HER CAT (10/18 approximately 10:00am)‼️
‼️PLEASE HELP MY FRIEND LOCATE HER CAT (10/18 approximately 10:00am)‼️
I know she’s hard to identify because she’s a black cat with no markings, but if you see any black cat that’s a little chunkier in weight, please contact me.
She ran away from the Gibson and Unser area on the west side of Albuquerque, more specifically the 98th street and 86th street area. We’re not 100% sure when she left, but it had to have been a few hours now.
She may respond to the name “Phara” or “Pantera”. She’s super loving and has no history of being mean or skittish but she may get spooked as it’s her first time running off in a city. She used to be a small town cat.
Please share if you can!!

Question Does 311 work?
I have a neighbor that routinely disposes of used cat litter in the shared yard of ours. I’ve called 311 once and they got back to me said the neighbor was given warning. Is it worth contacting 311 again or is there another way of dealing with this? landlord can’t really help.
it’s to be noted it gets on the sidewalk where people walk into their own homes. It’s basically a biohazard.

True But Misleading: Legislator Compensation
A number of sources say that New Mexico legislators are the only ones without a salary.
That is true but misleading.
NM legislators don't get a salary, but they do get much more than their peers in New Hampshire.
NH pays their legislators a salary of $100 per year -- and no per diem. Meantime, NM legislators get no salary -- but a per diem of $202 per eligible day.
EDIT: I am not saying they shouldn't be paid.

Question EV commuter questions
Hi all! We are daily commuters and are going to make the switch to an EV in the next couple months. We are finding there is so much to learn. I’d thought I’d ask people who are already EV commuters from ABQ to SF a couple questions;
What do you drive- make/model and what lead you to this decision?
What's the winter/elevation travel impact on your EV range?
If there are other good or bad elements from your perspective and you’d like to share, I’m super curious and would love the insight. Thanks!
*edit: a word

Question Anyone personally recommend any good safe apartments in Albuquerque to rent with a personal garage for a car? Budget is $1,250 and below.
As the title states, any abq locals can personally recommend an apartment complex to rent from? I’m looking for either a studio or 1-bedroom apartment for $1,250 monthly max or under. That is safe, and comes with a garage included for a car? Thank you guys in advance.

Teriyaki Chicken bowl recipe dupe?
Has anyone found a recipe close to Teriyaki Chicken bowl for their Chicken and Steamed Cabbage and veg? I know, it’s probably just steamed cabbage, but it never hurts to ask. I have a craving but I’m not paying for that. Or driving.

Rio Rancho Events Center concession prices are outrageous
First time here for the hockey game.
As someone that was just in Denver for a broncos game and has been to many pro hockey games, paying $9 for a slice of what was basically dominos pizza and $16-$21 for beer/wine/cocktails is INSANE for the NM / ABQ region. Lobos don’t even charge that much…
Hate to break it to whoever owns and runs the stadium but y’all are not hosting or serving anything considered charging premium rates like that.

Which are the candidates that will realistically push against becoming a panopticon?
This is nuts. And this is just a small area, and zooming into each icon uncovers 3-4 more "plate reader cameras". Reality feels like a very low budget black mirror episode at this point.
I read about Deb H. Comments about the matter, are there any other candidates who have a plan that we could pay attention to?
Asking the savvy since I've seen amazing people adding pro, cons, and a lot of information trying to help out people choose right now.

Local Measures Voting Guide: Vote to make Albuquerque great!
There's a lot of stuff on the Bernalillo County Ballot that is not Deb Haaland or Greg Hull
Get out and vote to make the city great!
I have summarized some of the the city and state ballot items below:
## City of Albuquerque
ACS Chief (charter amendment)
-YES: The head of Albuquerque Community Safety is renamed "ACS Chief," appointed by the mayor with City Council confirmation, with the same contract and removal terms as the police and fire chiefs.
-NO: ACS stays headed by a "Director" under current rules.
- Pro: Enables Albuquerque Community Safety to access state and federal funding that they cannot access now.
- Con: (No organized opposition found. The City Council vote was 7-2. City Councilors Dan Champine and Renee Grout voted against this measure.)
Performing Arts Center (charter amendment)
- YES: Repeals the rule requiring a public vote before the city spends more than $10M on a performing arts center. It doesn't fund or approve one.
- NO: Keeps the requirement for a voter OK on a performing arts center over $10M.
- Pro: Paves the way to building a Performing Arts Center for the city.
- Con: Maintains existing bureaucracy to building facilities that benefit the city.
Public Safety Tax Dedication (no tax increase)
- YES: Changes how the existing quarter-cent tax is split: Police 35%, Fire 38%, ACS 8%, Homelessness 8%, Prisoner Transport 6%, Code Enforcement 5%.
- NO: Keeps the current split (Police 34%, Fire 34%, Prisoner Transport 6%, Crime Prevention 26%).
- Pro: Measure will fund Albuquerque Community Safety to cleanup vacant property and help tackle the homelessness crisis on our streets.
- Con: (No organized opposition found.) All City Council members voted to send this measure to the ballot.
Flood Control Bonds ($30M)
- YES: Lets the flood control authority issue up to $30M in bonds for flood control and drainage work, repaid by property taxes.
- NO: No new bonds. Fewer or delayed flood projects.
- Pro: Pays for flood protection, maintenance of arroyos and dams. Says it won't raise its tax rate because old bonds are being retired.
- Con: No organized opposition found.
## STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS (simple majority needed)
Amendment 1: Pocket Veto
- FOR: The governor must give written explanations for vetoes. Bills the governor doesn't act on become law.
- AGAINST: Governor does not have to explain why they vetoed a bill. Bills the governor does not act on are vetoed automatically.
- Pro: Holds the Governor of New Mexico accountable for their actions. They must explain why they vetoed a bill.
- Con: Governor will have less sweeping authority and will be "burdened" by having to do their job.
Amendment 2: School Elections
- FOR: Removes the rule that school elections must be held separately from partisan elections. Districts could move them to the November general election ballot (or still hold special elections). School board races would *not* become partisan.
- AGAINST: Keeps school elections separate.
- Pro: By holding school elections at the same time, costs of elections are lower and voter participation will be higher.
- Con: School issues could get overshadowed by partisan politics.
Amendment 3: University Regents
- FOR: The Legislature sets up nominating committees, and the governor must pick nonstudent regents from their lists (Senate still confirms). Student regents come from a list by the student government. Regents can't have changed party registration in the prior 6 months.
- AGAINST: The governor keeps full discretion over regent nominations, with Senate confirmation.
- Pro: The governor will no longer get to pick whoever they want as a student regent. This will prevent corruption in our universities as there have been cases of the NM Governor picking a relative as a student regent of a public university.
- Con: Committee may cost additional money. Unclear who will run the committee.
Amendment 4: Legislator Pay
- FOR: Lawmakers could be paid a salary equal to the state median household income (~$67,800), adjusting up or down with it. Starts in 2029. Lawmakers can decline it. Per diem stays.
- AGAINST: Legislators stay unpaid New Mexico is currently the only state who does not pay a salary to lawmakers.
- Pro: Measure will attract better lawmakers to New Mexico's legislature. Brings New Mexico up to the standard with all other 49 states. Enables lawmakers to treat their position as full-time work, reducing potential for corruption and backdoor deals that harm New Mexicans.
- Con: Costs the state $7.6M per year. State Republican Senator Larry Scott (Hobbs) says we should not reward lawmakers who haven't solved the state's problems.
STATE BONDS (property-tax-backed, simple majority needed)
Three questions: senior centers, libraries, and higher ed/special/tribal schools.
- FOR: Authorizes the state to issue the bonds. Dollar amounts differ between sources, so check the Voter Guide.
- AGAINST: Denies the authority to issue them.

SANDIA SPORTS BAR
Heard an ad on the radio that the New Mexico Lobo football faithful meet up at the Sports Bar inside the Sandia Casino for the UNM vs Hawaii game. I thought, SOUNDS GOOD. Went there early to get a table, got a few drinks and food and was watching the game when BLICK, all the TV's were shut off at 11 PM. I guess that's when they close but WTF, don't advertise yourself as a LOBO bar when you can't watch the whole game there. Nver again
