Event ICE out of New Mexico!
ICE thugs are staying at the Hilton near Buca di Beppo in Uptown. Tomorrow night (Saturday 10/17) our community is gonna make sure they know they're not welcome here. As they lie awake listening to us bang pots and pans (please bring anything you have that will make noise) maybe they'll begin to feel shame for destroying innocent lives and selling out their fellow humans for a regime that doesn't give a crap about any of us.

Question People who lived in the 80sā¦
This is REALLY RANDOM lol but what did you guys think of the 80s song The king of Rock āNā Roll by prefab Sprout? Do you remember hearing it? Was it even a thing? Do you know it exists?? It was a very popular song in the UK in the 80s.
It tickles me because the band is from my very small pit village (mining community) in the UK called County Durham & very working class guys. WHY they sang a song about Albuquerque idk, what the hell the song was even about who knows š
Love from your curious older cousin from across the pond š¬š§

Question Large Number of Gas Emergencies
Update: Gas company arrived and identified a leak. This gentleman was from Santa Fe and said he wasnāt sure what had happened but clearly something happened because they had so many calls ā very atypical and apparently many more calls still on hold waiting to be taken. Meter removed and red tagged so more plumbing fun next week. Both my yard line and house line have been replaced in the last ten years so I donāt think this is an old pipe issue. The call center and the technician were both really great!
Smelled gas in my kitchen and confirmed the stove was not on and thereās no other gas appliance in the vicinity so we got out of the house and called New Mexico Gas. They said they were having a huge influx of emergency calls tonight and pulling people from all over the state to try and field the calls. Estimating three hours before someone can respond.
Is there something that could happen with the main lines to trigger such an event? Such as an over pressurization or the like?

Place for a Yard Sale? Swap meet/flea market?
Hi all, I live out in the East Mountains way off a dirt road (like ten miles)- a terrible place to have people come out for a yard sale.Yet I have SO much stuff and shipping has gotten so expensive that selling on Ebay isn't an option. Wondering if there is a place in ABQ i can have a yard sale. I just moved here a few years ago and so don't know much about ABQ in this respect.
Or what about doing a sort of virtual yard sale on Facebook Marketplace? I have never sold on there so, any options like that I am also open to. Thank you all in advance!

Question Honest car dealership/sellers?
Hi everyone, Iām lookin to get a used car thatās reliable like a Toyota or Honda. Iām not picky about if itās old or newer, as long as it does the job for a long time and Iām not taking it to the shop every couple of months. My budget is under $20k, and Iād prefer if itās under 100k miles. If you know any good family owned dealerships or someone you trust, please let me know. Thank you so much.

Yes on 4 ads
Just FYI, NM has no paid legislators currently (they do get per diem, but not a regular salary). The ad I have been seeing implies that our state legislators are living these fat cat lives off of their government salary, making them out of touch with the issues affecting new Mexicans.
We DO have fat cat legislators who come from oil and agriculture, but they would be out of touch regardless of the salary they received from the legislature.
The vote would be to begin paying legislators and set their pay equal to the state median income (~$67,000). Maybe this will make it so more normal, in touch, people can vie for the position but the ads feel very misleading, instead of just describing the situation in a straightforward way.

ABQ - 4th St, N&S-bound, btwn Candelaria & Menaul š©
The 4th Street Corridor project is definitely needed because people drive like damn badasses š©š. But reducing 4 lanes to 2 with a center turn lane wasnāt the right move. Traffic is madness! Itās pushing more cars into neighborhood side streets. We need safer streets, but this solution seems to be creating new problems.

PSA My friendās brother was just taken by ICE
My friendās brother was working on a construction site this morning in NE Albuquerque and all of a sudden ICE was there, and took five men in the raid. My friendās brother was one. My friend speaks only Spanish so I am doing what I can to help her navigate this devastating development. I have a friend that is an attorney and we are seeking her help. I am sick that this is America in 2026. Please tell everyone you know to be on the lookout for ICE activity. We have to try and protect our immigrant community any way that we can. š
