BOTulism

As many of you are aware, this subreddit has been overrun by bots lately. Moderators have implemented both automated and manual controls. We have also added a report category for AI/bots. If you think that you see a bot, please report it. If the bot is providing misinformation, please correct the misinformation.

Please do NOT call out the response as a bot. For one, it feels very un-excellent to real humans who get called out and that's not how we want to welcome new users. And more importantly, as someone who works extensively with LLMs (ethically, in a closed proprietary system) in my day job, when you call out a bot and explain why you think it's a bot, you are training that bot to better escape detection.

Posts with a certain number of reports will be automatically removed. Human moderators will review the rest. We['re sorry that this is happening. It's a sitewide problem and we're a big subreddit with a lot of text-based information, so bots love it.

Question Would it be okay to take your own measurements for the calculator? Supposedly a 32D/DD Spoiler

The sub and calculator were recommended to me under an activewear post a few months ago, I haven't worn bras since I was about 14(?) and I'm unsure of how to proceed. Having used the calculator, my measurements went up a handful of sizes, but now I've measured again and sit at what should be a 32D/DD in UK sizing. I'm already a bit nervous about the whole thing, for no apparent reason. But the other day I told someone else to check out the subreddit when she asked a similar question, someone else responded by saying that someone else should measure for us. I don't really have that option, I live with my brother and father. Is it okay to take your own measurements or will that completely throw it off? Am I better off just going to a store and going through trial and error to find the right size?

Question Do correctly fitting wired bras increase the likelihood of mastitis / infections in the breasts? Spoiler

Hi all,

I'm the mother of a 14 month old and am recovering from an infection in my breast (I'm also still breastfeeding).

I was just at the hospital breast clinic to make sure I don't need any further medication or procedures and the nurse who was re-doing my wound dressing before I left said that she would not recommend returning to wired bras even after it's healed as they make recurrence more likely. She recommended sports bras instead.

Does anyone know if this is a real concern even if the bra fits correctly?

For info:

- I used the calculator here to measure myself and derive my current bra size (post pregnancy - about 8 months ago), arrived at a very comfortable and supportive fit, and bought new bras at that stage.

- I haven't been wearing any proper bras while unwell and healing, because the infection is on the underside of my breast, just against where the band would lay.

- My breasts are large and soft, and I would usually consider wired bras a necessity for proper support.

- I don't really want to drop the bones of a grand on a new set of bras!

Edit: Thanks for the responses, it's put me at ease a bit. I'm planning to re-do my measurements and calculations and then see where I am, but I'm inclined to mainly stick with wired bras if I need new ones.

Question What are we doing for the smaller boob? (38 F) Spoiler

• Upvotes

Hi all! I think I have found my bra that fits after a few posts here (Freya tailored high apex in 38F UK).
Like many people , my boobs are uneven, but for me it’s enough that the larger one fits this bra perfectly and the smaller one has a bit of loose fabric in the front (where it should lay on the top of my breast) that you can see when I’m not wearing a shirt. I’ve seen people mention inserts- what do you all suggest? Is there any way to quantify how big the insert should be? I think I have very soft tissue, full on top and center if that matters.

Side note- the calculator had given me 38F/FF UK. As mentioned I think I have very soft tissue which I know can cause over-estimation. If I had ordered this bra in a color other than black (I got black), is it possible that I should actually go down to 38E? I probably will re-measure before I get another bra because I’m actively in the process of losing weight, but I wonder if some over-estimation happened due to the soft tissue and it just worked out cos I got black, which runs tighter.

Edit for measurements: 37.75, 37, 35.25, 44.25, 47.5, and 44.5

Ordered Panache Ana and Freya Cherish me. I think they fit? Spoiler

I ordered a 28H for Panache Ana and 28GG for Cherish Me.

Panache Ana:

The band is perfect, and the cups fit, but mildly looks a bit pointy? Honestly I just think its my FOB shape, but it’s still great

Cherish Me:

Really no complaints!

Recommendations? Alternatives for Understance now that they’ve shut down? Spoiler

I know that this question has been asked a million times about them but often the suggested retailers are in the USA or other. I’d love to encourage another Canadian business.

Also, I’d love recommendations for their “other” items as well, like their underwear and pyjamas. I thought I’d stocked up enough before the shutdown but I don’t know why I thought only 4 panties and 2 pjs was sufficient hahahaha

Thank you to everyone who makes suggestions!

Discussion On the topic of US mass produced bras and their advertising… Spoiler

Since the VS runway show is out and we all know how terribly that really expensive bra fit… Has anyone seen the recent tv ad for Bali bras? Of course the model was wearing a “bra hat” and I was shaking my head over the poor fit, now that I’m in the know of how bras should really fit. Then my husband says, unprompted, “that bra isn’t her size and fits her terribly.” I turn to look at him and commend him on his sharp eye and he said that he’s been listening to me during my bra journey and taking notes! I’ve got a good one right there.

Recommendations? 44H unsure where I can buy bras? Spoiler

• Upvotes

Hi all!

I tried to buy only under recommendations from other posts, but the 4 bras I bought were either shoddy or just so expensive- 300 usd for 1 bra - to be prohibitive.

Is there any stores yall can recommend?

I am working on weight but atm my sports bra are cutting circulation.

Looking largely for anything that'll push them inward or lift slightly.

Where can I get a 48A plunge bra? I'm a big woman and don't fit 48B Spoiler

• Upvotes

I'm trying to find bras that fit, ice figured out that a 48 band size fits just fine, but my boobs are relatively small, I guess. When I measure myself it comes out to 46D, but D cup bras leave way too much room, and as the cup size goes down the band gets tighter, so I need to go up a size. Even B cups still leave a lot of room, so I need an A cup, but I can't find anywhere that sells 38A. I need a plunge specifically so that it doesn't show in a dress I'm taking for bridal pictures. Please help!

Fit Check [Fit Check] Freya Offbeat Side Support 28D. Too small? Shape mismatch? Spoiler

• Upvotes

Fit Check Help (28D)

First time posting, I apologize in advance if the post is weird or poorly constructed.
The calculator said I'm 28D with sister size 30C. I have tried both sizes and am v happy with Skarlett Blue Minx 28D.

I got Freya Offbeat Side Support also in 28D, but I don't think it fits? I feel like the cups are too small? However, I really like the shape and style of this bra, even the material of the lace cups and the firm band. I like the band though, it's snug, comfortable, doesn't hurt, and doesn't move around.

I did go on Bratabase and Minx 28D does have closer measurements to Freya Offbeat Side Support 28DD, but I'm not sure, should I switch to 28DD or 28E, or give up? Thanks in advance.

Idk, I like how the cups make my tissue more centered and "in front", but I'm spilling over the cups (or maybe the term is quadding), at the top, and side (near the tail of spence, i would often get these in my old size 30B, 30A and 32A)

Measurement Check wearing 46C, struggling to calculate true size? Spoiler

i did my measurements and the online calculator is confusing. i buy in US sizes.

My measurements are below, all in inches

underbust:

loose: 47

comfortable snug: 44

tight as possible: 41

bust:

standing: 51

leaning: 54

laying down: 51.5

i used to wear Torrid size 46C but those fit me horribly now. they do contain 80% of the breast tissue but ride up and are very tight.

size recommendations? i will be buying probably a new Torrid bra to try my new size unless you think that's a bad idea.

Recommendations? Soma & Embraceable with Squeaky Underwires Spoiler

As the title eludes, I recently ordered three new Soma Embraceable underwire bras. Same style I’ve been buying for 5+ years. Got these, tried them on and noticed when I moved, the underwire squeaked. I ended up sending them back - every time I moved my arms or torso, the wires would squeak. That being said, recommendations for a bra similar to the Embraceable (triple clasp, lightly lined, supportive for 40C)?

Looking for Bra that Supports well and is comfortable Spoiler

Unfortunately due to different medications for health, I keep piling on weight. I am now a size 42DDD, and am having a hard time finding a bra that lifts, separates, and is comfortable. I can't stand the bras that barely cover breasts. Appreciate any help.

Recommendations? Looking for recommendations for small comfortable pre-teen bras (24 inch band if that's a thing) Spoiler

My daughter is small for her age and has unfortunately also reached puberty young and is starting to develop to the point where we need to start looking at bras. Based on measurements I think a 24 inch band would be best, a little loose but not too loose, and I think a 26 would be the absolute biggest we could go with. She has some crop tops but if she takes after me they will quickly be insufficient so I want to be prepared.

We are in Australia (where it works out to a size 2 band) so ideally looking for options that are available worldwide or specifically in Australia, but we do travel overseas so at this point I'll take any options. I wasn't able to find bands below a 6 and none of the 6s I found were suitable for a pre-teen anyway. Just looking for something comfortable and supportive as she grows, so I'm thinking maybe lightly padded or unpadded with no underwire, maybe front closure if possible.

Recommendations? [Recommendations] 22DD or 24D Uk measuring system. Not realy sure of my breast shape, and I need an everyday bra. Spoiler

Hi there,

I got my measurements in Uk, and it says 22DD as a starting size but 24D maybe more comfortable. Mind you I'm a 30-year-old women. I'm worried because I've learnt that these band sizes are for teenagers, and I don't think that I'm going to find any of these with a D cup!

Is there anyone with similar measurements who can suggest where to get a good fit of any type of bras for everyday without having to order a custom one?

Thanks.

Fit Check [Fit Check] Used to wear 32A, calculator says 28D - does it look right? Spoiler

Hi bra god(desses)!

I have been wearing 30B/32A generally for the lack of bra sizes where I live, but have been trying new bras per the calculator.

My measurements are below and considering my breasts are quite shallow and not too full, (I think it's broad too), my left boob is slightly larger than the right.

  • Loose Underbust: 72.5cm
  • Snug Underbust: 70cm
  • Tight Underbust: 67cm
  • Standing Bust: 78cm
  • Leaning Bust: 83cm
  • Lying Bust: 82.5cm

I recently bought the below bras and do like the 28D but wonder if it's slightly too big and since it's an underwire, not very flattering and would like some pushup. and the gore doesn't seem to sit well? The Wacoal bra cup shape seems different from my bra shape too so i feel like I don't completely fill the cups.

  1. Wacoal B.Enticing Strapless Bra in 30C and
  2. Freya Sydnie Underwire High Apex Bra in 28D.

Would appreciate your comments and recommendations if any!

Also attached is my old tshirt bra from H&M in 32A for reference - although it's a smaller size than the calculator size, the right cup is definitely gaping.

Recommendations? Alternatives to M&S Rosie Balcony Bra? Spoiler

Earlier this year M&S discontinued the rosie balcony. This was much to my dismay, as I'd been wearing the bra in one size or another for over a decade at this point and I am really struggling to find a suitable replacement :(

I've been refitted at M&S, and tried alternatives from Boux Avenue and VS to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Recommendations? Looking for alternatives to Pepper Spoiler

I really like the styles and materials of the Pepper bras, but unfortunately right now I can’t swing nearly $100 CAN with tax for a bra.

Has anyone found a similar brand that does large band small cup?

Looking for 42A and not having much luck. Appreciate any suggestions. Tired of light sports bras, lol. Something a bit fancier would be nice.

Appreciated!

Recommendations? 34H, wires never stay in my IMF. Am I "functionally shallow"? Spoiler

34H, FOB pendulous projected soft tissue, short narrow roots, probably omega-shaped. I've tried... so many bras.

Right now I have Elomi Brianna and Teagan, and a few Ewa Michalak SF. The Ewa michalaks check the boxes but become really painful after ~4 hours because her wires slide down and they're made of carbon steel lol. The Elomis are too wide but that doesn't really bother me, and they're super cushy so them sliding down doesn't bother me as much. But you know, still not ideal.

I recently came across the term "functionally shallow", meaning that large soft tissue often need shallower bras than one might think, to keep them in place. I haven't really tried any shallower bras, believing projection to be key.

Where do I go from here? What bras to try?

Fit Check Update/Fit check, Wires never staying in my IMF. Trying on Ewa Michalak Spoiler

Hello! I posted awhile ago for recommendations as I've now tried SO MANY bras, in so many different shapes and NONE have ever stayed or even reached my IMF. https://www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/s/Ps5knYHOIf (previous post for more lore). So far my best fitting bra is Elomi Morgan, but it's still not quite there. I have been recommended both to try shallower and to try more projection.

Projected experiment, I finally caved and decided to order from Ewa Michalak. I saw around the recommendation to go up a band from her calculator while maintaining the same cup or one up. Her calculator was recommending me 90D, and given I had tried an Ewa bra in 85F that I had found on Vinted for a steal and it was comically huge 85DD seemed indeed like a good start. So I ordered 85DD, 85D and 85E, in different models (to get a feel of the different fits as her models are really fascinating! Also because those are the lowest gores I've ever seen and I'm hoping to find a low bra for my wedding dress..). Oh boy the size was off. Incredibly off. I have major quadboob and I had to heavily adjust for pictures because in the 85D my ~areola~ was out of the cups 😂. That said I'm not sure how bras with this fit should...well, fit, so where do I go from here size wise?

Measurements (that changed a bit between the order and now, because of course they did! )

Loose UB 96

Snug UB 90

Tight UB 84

Bust 104

Leaning 115

Laying 110

Recommended 36E/F and 80F/G.

Actual Bras:

https://ibb.co/4RzMSMrd

https://ibb.co/NgGbfpsk

https://ibb.co/JWkpbFZZ

https://ibb.co/C5Pb11dN

This is the standard problem I have with all bras, the wire just sits too low. I'm unsure if I would also need a cup up, but I don't see the shape particularly working perfectly. It's still one of the best ones I've tried, probably around the same as Morgan and Matilda. I tried to show where my root actually is inside the cups.

PL 85D

https://ibb.co/zhyY7Wrd

https://ibb.co/HDj0t9fp

https://ibb.co/0pHxh8jy

https://ibb.co/0ys85kxq

The wire is closer! I love the low gore. Obviously bra is tragically too small, but I'm unsure which size to try next (and if it's worth it trying to up the cup size).

CHP 85DD

https://ibb.co/v4JxCHjD

https://ibb.co/9jxQFj2

https://ibb.co/7tPwwLhH

https://ibb.co/cKnCh8cd

OMG THE WIRE IS IN PLACE. Obviously the cups are too small, but the wire is right!!!! Again I'm not sure which size to try next, this is with the padding. I generally prefer without padding, but I'm nervous to remove it as I don't want to risk damaging the bra as I have to return it...

I'm also nervous about the fact that so far the best wires I tried on belonged to cups where half my boobs are out... (until now the only wire that tackled was on a 34F Gorsenia balconette that had been confused for a 38F and mistakenly sent to me... obviously the cups were incredibly small, I was out up to the nipple, and the bra only closed because it was so overstretched)

All size and models recommendations are welcome, thank you!

Recommendations? Bras similar to the Elomi Kintai 34H/HH Spoiler

I’m looking for other bras to try! I currently love my (only comfortable) elomi kintai in 34H (uk size) and the calculator gave me the same suggested starting size of 34 H/HH.

While I enjoy this bra a lot and it’s my most comfortable bra the underwire still sits around 1- 1 1/2 inches under my natural IMF.

Now, I feel like I might be a tricky fit. One breast is almost a full cup size larger than the other and I suspect I have high projection.

I’d love to try on other bras that have similar support to the elomi but a better chance at sitting closer to my IMF if possible.

Thank you!

Recommendations? [Recommendations] Camisole with Built-in Bra for D+ Spoiler

I am so sick of searching to the ends of the earth for a camisole that works for me. I cannot wear most camisoles with built-in bras. That little bandeau gives me zero support and you can always see the outline of my nipples. So, I've always had to wear a bra underneath camisoles. This also sucks because 1. every white camisole is see-through enough that my bra is visible and looks bad, 2. with that problem, its been so hard to find a bra that looks good underneath, and 3. I don't like it when my bra straps are visible.

I've finally decided I need to find a camisole with a built-in bra DESIGNED for bigger busts. I've searched far and wide and just cannot find what I want. I'm looking for a camisole to wear underneath like a cardigan or a button-down shirt. I want it to have a built-in bra with CUPS to hide my nipples and give me good shape, and ideally it would have clasps in the back so I can adjust the tightness. I would also like for it to be more opaque than not because I hate when you can see my cleavage through the fabric. This is mostly a problem with white but I have a black camisole with this problem as well.

Google has failed me with all of it's suggestions, so I'm asking for help here. I forgot that this sub existed until it popped up in my google search for this problem. I didn't see a past post that addressed this exactly so I decided I'll shoot my shot myself. Thanks in advance!

Question is cleavage always a sign of wrong fitting? Spoiler

I have noticed that I don't get any cleavage at all when I wear the bras I bought after the bravissimo fitting. when I used to wear some of my old push-up bras that were wrong sized (36-38D/DD)I had some cleavage. I now wear UK 34F/G.
