Store Review Is Nordstrom (Still) Trans Friendly? Spoiler
I found a thread in another sub from about five years ago where someone had nothing but amazing things to say about their experience getting fitted for a bra at Nordstrom. The thread only had a handful of replies, but everyone who chimed in seemed to agree.
That said, given the current trend of trans hate, a lot could have changed in five years, which makes me wonder: Is Nordstrom still a trans-friendly place to shop?
Plot twist: I'm in Texas. 😞
I'd be visiting one of the stores in the DFW area. I'm pre-FFS, not out socially, and my voice still reads as cishet male (my normal chest voice averages around 85 Hz). So I'd be showing up in boymode.
I'm about 18 months into HRT and have been doing a ton of research on bras and proper sizing. I think I've figured out my size based on my own measurements, and I even went so far as to order six different sizes of $6 Walmart bras just to experiment with the fit. After trying them all on, it seems like 34C or 36B is probably where I belong, depending on the brand.
But I'd still like to be professionally fitted, if for no other reason than to confirm that I've actually gotten this right.
My other concern is the cost. I can't normally afford Nordstrom's prices, and I already know I'd be walking in there feeling like Julia Roberts' character in Pretty Woman when she walked into that one boutique that turned her away. 😬
So there's some anxiety about that, too. I know the fitting itself is free, but I can't imagine there isn't at least some expectation (or hope) that you'll buy something afterward. And realistically, I probably won't be able to afford anything they sell.
Anyway, I'd love to hear from anyone who's had a more recent experience with Nordstrom, especially in Texas or the DFW area. How were you treated? And did you feel pressured to buy anything after the fitting?
