So I bought an aftermarket brake booster for my 86 z31 and the rod fit it is a little bit further than the stock one is there a way I can adjust it or something I’m not sure what to do

Picture isn't the best, but its the best I could get. Got the engine in with a crane, and we have the splines of the input shaft on the clutch, got them lined up by spinning the crank with a wrench while mounting the engine, but this is as far as it will go, and I dont want to use hard force if I don't have to. I'm assuming its just a very tight fit on the pilot bushing, which did fit on the transmission input shaft before installing it in the crank when I test fit it. Is it just this difficult to get the input shaft to enter the pilot bushing or am I doing something wrong? Any pointers are appreciated

EDIT: the pilot bushing also fit on the clutch alignment tool, which also fit in the engine with no issues and minimal force after the pilot bushing was installed.

Hi guys,

So I’ve finally finished my engine rebuild and I am preparing to drop it in. For context, 1988 Nissan 300zx with automatic transmission. Now, we tried to install it with the transmission still in the car and it was a nightmare. Hour 5 realized that the torque converter wasn’t even in all the way. And even when we pushed it to what we thought was all the way in the engine refused to line up.

My Question is, do I just drop the trans and lower them both in is that easier or do I just keep trying to get them to line up?

Hey I’m just getting into the z scene, iv got a 1985 300zx z31 pasted down to me by a friend, it’s having problems im pretty sure its just rocker arm tick, so im planing on ordering the rocker arms and shafts but iv honestly have no clue where to even find parts, iv check fb nothing in my area and eBay there’s nothing at all and every website that reddits saying there’s vg30e parts being sold, nothing at all or just a couple of part, im not having to much fun looking for it could someone help me out and point me in the right direction.

What parts would i need to/ or should change/upgrade? Im pretty curious as im looking at a new turbo engine and id love to target 500-550 range though i see at that area i need to change some major points of the engine compared to if i was going for 400. Any advice is well appreciated, thanks!

I have a 1993 300ZX and currently only have the OEM red valet key. I wanted to get a standard black key made, so I bought a blank and took it to two different locksmiths and two Nissan dealerships, but nobody has been able to cut it.

Both locksmiths told me their vice couldn’t properly grab or secure the valet key, so they couldn’t cut the new one? I’m not entirely sure what the issue is there.

I also tried two Nissan dealerships, but neither had records in their computer systems that went back to 1993, so they couldn’t help me either.

At this point, am I just unlucky with the places I’ve tried, or is getting a new key for these cars genuinely this difficult? What other options do I have?

I was just gonna get another VG30E but I figure if I've already got the engine out I could throw something else in,

Hi, I found this clean looking Z32 local to me on fb marketplace, and I plan on taking a look at it but I don't know how do initiate. I dont have the experience so I dont know what to ask in my first message. It doesnt look bad, paint looks good, wheels are fine, and interior looks good. But there are no closeup pics. I don't know what a good price is, but I plan on having about 10-11k cash on hand and if it looks good after seeing it and going for a test drive. I'd like a good estimate on price because if they dont take the money I need to know how much I should be spending on this example. I will refer to the wiki for what to look at but if theres anything I need to emphasize, it would be cool to get a heads up.

Can someone help me identify what the ticking noise in the video is?

The ticking noise I am referring to in the video is pretty inconsistent as you can hear, where it almost seems to come and go. It does get faster with engine revs. Sounds like its coming from the front of the engine but hard to really say. Does not seem to go away once the engine is warm.

Hard to fully capture the noise on video but it is pretty loud in person. If i try to take the video right next to the motor with the hood open the ticking gets drowned out by the engine noise quite a bit and is ever harder to hear on video.

Car is a 1988 Z31 Turbo, Manual, 2+0, roughly 220,000 KM (136701 miles).

Saw one of these recently and found it interesting, not looking to buy but dreaming for the future. Been reading up, but have failed to find any information if the turbo models were offered as 2+2. Would love the second row just for easy access space in travel (backpacks, bags, etc), and have seen references to them but I wasn't sure if it was referencing Z32s. If there are some, how rare are they?

Whats the price range for a normal turbo Z31 that isn't in entirely garbage condition (aka rusting to pieces, can start, can run, can maybe drive, with issues) anyway? It seems like any used market has shifted drastically in the past 6 years.

300zx 96 na auto staying in OL drive but when I rev it it says CL. I deleted egr carbon canister deleted pcv installed oil catch can but do I need a tune because 96 ecu is sensitive and I don’t know what the problem is the exhaust smells like sulfur while idling.when I drive it it shifts in 2nd gear perfect but 3rd gear I have to get it to 5k rpm let go of the gas then when I push the gas again it shifts I have some videos but I don’t know what the issue is

Downloaded and printed a mount for the Boost controller in the clock location. See link; https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4294545. Has anyone made this fit? It seems almost 1" too long. I can't put the bezel back on without the mount hitting the supports under. Should I have been cutting the dash? Seems excessive..

Anyone have a better print I could use? It's currently in a bottom din slot but I'd rather have that free for a double din or storage.
