BUYING Seller threatening legal action if I collect the package they sent me after sale.

Hello everyone, looking for some advice.

Recently bought an item from a seller at what I consider was quite a bargain (3 euro). They sent it promptly, within 30 minutes of me buying. (And even sent me a very friendly message informing me that they did so)

Shortly after that, they listed a nearly identical item for a much higher price than what I paid for mine (25 euro).

Then the seller sent me a message saying they accidentally sent the wrong item and it was of very high value, and they insisted I leave the package uncollected so it can be returned to them. They continued to send repeated messages pleading with me to not collect it. Then they threatened legal action for product embezzlement if I collect the package they sent.

The seller also supposedly has contacted vinted and the shipping company, but according to the tracking it seems to be heading to my location. I dont know if they actually did contact vinted.

I decided to get in contact with vinted myself, asking for advice and and they basically told me to do what I like.

Would I actually be liable for anything? I am inclined to believe the seller just wants to just retrieve the item to relist at a higher price. If what arrives is something else than what I ordered I do plan on returning it through vinted's official means, but could I actually be held liable for simply picking up a package that was willingly sent to me?

This is such a bonkers situation and I would love to get some outside opinions. Thank you reddit.

Edit: I was 99% sure there was no chance in hell I would face any repercussions on this but I found it the situation so insanely bizarre that I just had to make sure I wasn't the crazy one. Like, "No way someone would act this crazy over losing a few bucks in a sale". Thanks again everyone for the comments!

I’ve had requests like this a few times, you can always tell they’re dodgy from a mile off…
Asking for photos of lingerie is bad enough but no photo, no reviews, a blank account… Come on dude!
But just on the off chance it was genuine, I sent a photo from the official website showing exactly how it looks on…
Blocking me after is just chefs kiss 😗🤌🏻😆😆😆

DISCUSSION What's the point of this?

I saw a listing for enamel pins, I wanted to check the description because first line is "DO NOT PURCHASE" which brought my attention to it.

I don't get what the point is 😕

VENT How is AI allowed????

I feel like I’m seeing SO MANY ai listings!!! I don’t understand how this is allowed and why you’d even want to do it! Like I don’t need to see an ai person wearing your now ai edited products. Just post a picture of your item. It feels so dishonest to me, but maybe I’m dramatic.

Is anyone else experiencing this? I've tried listing somethings however not a single one is getting views, I assume something's wrong on vinted's end. Just want to check if one else had the same situation :)

DISCUSSION Buyers item doesn’t fit and wants a return on my dime?

This buyer purchased this item from me within minutes after listing, I’m speculating she did not read the description before purchasing because I clearly listed the measurements at the top just to avoid this issue. I sell mainly kids clothes, and I know that size “small” for kids is very subjective especially to the brands, so I measured for.. good measure. This lady filed a claim seconds after being notified of delivery stating it doesn’t fit and wants me to pay shipping for her to return it.. who’s in the right here? IMO I did everything right, its tag says small so it was listed as a small, I never stated size 6 in the listing, gave pictures front and back, and gave measurements. The buyer also seems confused on the measurements as I said 20in length and 11in pit to pit and her comment was “it’s not 20in from the pit” which I never stated. We had very good banter before this issue and she seemed like a very nice buyer. I’m assuming I’ll be receiving my first bad review over this after over 250 sales and over 200x5 star reviews :/

SELLING Why is everything I post not getting any views

I'm genuinely so annoyed at this because I've posted about 10 items for sale since the last time I sold something and everything is getting 0 views. It's so frustrating when I've tried so hard to sell my items considering I'm broke and I don't want this clutter at the minute. I know items that I'm selling are being sold on other accounts so there's definitely a demand for them. I'm losing my shit help

SHIPPING Who's Paying the Shipping?

Just found Vinted a few days ago and have made about 10 purchases to date, nothing over $10 and some brands we really like.

We have been eBay sellers for well over a decade, we sell a lot of vintage glass that we thrift and also sell a lot of household stuff we no longer use. We've tried selling some clothes but haven't had much luck. We've got a lot of nice stuff we'd sell for $5 to $10 just to get it moved and most likely just leave the money in Vinted to buy clothes for us and the grandkids.

As a long time seller on eBay I'm very aware that shipping is expensive. It cost $5 to $6 to ship most anything. Everything I've bought on Vinted is $5 to $8, most with free shipping. Who's paying the shipping cost?

DISCUSSION Is it rude for someone to reserve an item and then just not buy it?

So the other day someone wanted a bundle of my items so I reserved both for them (they were super polite saying “thanks” etc!) and then they just never bought them so I messaged them saying that the reservation had ended and they just ghosted me? Is this the norm on Vinted now 😭

BUYING I've been scammed & I'm not sure what to do

UPDATE: I reported the transaction to Vinted customer service and got a full refund. Thanks for your replies.

I'm a fairly new Vinted user and I've been very happy with it...until today. I purchased a purse & wallet set and was happy to see it shipped very quickly, actually surprisingly so. My USPS informed delivery said it was out for delivery this morning, and then that it had been delivered. I went outside and I was expecting to see a box or large envelope on the porch but it wasn't there. I opened the mailbox to find a very small poly envelope with something jangling inside. Maybe some of you know what I'm gonna say...inside was a handful of plastic play money (coins). WTAF?! The label matched the tracking number with the one I got from Vinted and the label said 4 lbs and that envelope wasn't even 4 OUNCES! I went to the seller's page and saw "Member Blocked" in red letters. Uh oh. The item still isn't showing as delivered on the Vinted item page and I'm not quite sure what to do - I thought I'd ask here first. Do I wait until it shows as delivered to report it as INAD (to say the least lol) or is there something I can do now. I'm pissed also because after buying on Vinted since March, I decided to start selling two days ago and now I'm thinking of deleting my few items and quitting altogether because I'm not comfortable at all now that I've been burned. Vinted seems like a very scammy place to be.

SELLING My turn.....

No idea what I've done wrong. It says it was "detected and moderated automatically" so I don't think anyone raised an issue. Over 1400 five star reviews, over £400 of items currently on their way to buyers. Great start to the weekend. Time to trawl the review process.

Any advice gratefully received.

Edit - They reinstated - thank fuck! Rather than just delete the thread, I'll keep it here as to give hope to another poor soul who finds themselves in a similar situation.!

"I understand this may have been frustrating. After reviewing the situation again, we can confirm this was a mistake on our side.

Your listings have now been restored and your account has now been unblocked.

Thank you for your patience while we corrected this."

NEWBIE i just started selling & got instantly banned (rant)

as the title describes… i opened an account on tuesday & was banned permanently on thursday. im doing the whole postpartum purge, so i immediately started posting. the reason stated was for a pair of nikes and that my photos didn’t prove authenticity. i bought these AT the nike store, i know they’re real. i posted pictures of every single angle of the shoe following the specific prompts that Vinted has including: the sizing label, the tongue tag, inside sole, outside sole, and the stitching.
i was banned within 2 minutes of posting. i appealed of course and they doubled down with the previous ban.
i’m just confused why they even have a mechanism to catch counterfeit items if it doesn’t even work properly. how are people even selling their brand name stuff?
annoyed cause it cancelled 2 of my ongoing sales and has the best selling action than the other apps currently 🫠

VENT Whyyyy such lowball offers all the time!! Vinted should not allow offers on discounted bundles!

People should not be able to send you an offer on a bundle that's already been discounted. I've been posting a lot lately and I'm getting offers on discounted bundles. I can't even with this. I had someone offer me $7 less on a bundle that was already discounted like $5.

I'm already pricing things way lower than I think I should. And making pennies on this app. People constantly offer me way less than I'm asking and then nickel and dime me when I counter.

I know I should price high so that I can accept offers but it seems like my higher priced items don't even get offers. So I've been pricing lower but then I get really low offers. Any tips?

And honestly the ones I'm getting low ball offers on often times are guys because I just posted a bunch of nascar hats. The moms buying baby clothes are less likely to send me awful offers. Just the facts.

APP ISSUES View and favorites difference

Anyone else had this happen to them? Profile showing 28 favorites and 170 views, but bumps statistics show 260 views and 53 favorites?

Asked a friend to check, he also sees only 28 favorited

Also, huge drop in views and favorites the last week, even with bump, still get nowhere near what I used to get ( Like a 80% reduce in views and favorites)

SELLING Buyer wants to cancel order after I already shipped it out, will support take my side if I don’t give him one?

Thumbnail

I just started a Vinted account and this was one of my first sales, he bought this yesterday night and I did tell him beforehand that I was planning on shipping it tomorrow morning, giving him enough to realize his mistake. He then messages me a hour after I sent out the package to USPS that he wanted me to cancel because he picked the wrong size.

While I could of said it more professionally at first, I told him I couldn’t give him a refund as I already sent it out and have photo evidence of the receipts and it matching his label and name attached, showing that I did send it out regardless of what Vinted said at that moment.

I’m fine with a angry customer but afraid of the possibility of him possibly tampering or trying to open a dispute to get his money back, would Vinted take my side if I go against his refund request?

DISCUSSION Search results issue?

Once again vinted is having issues. Is anyone else experiencing this? I just listed a few items and they’re not showing up in search results so nobody is clicking on them. Usually I get 20-30 views / likes in the first 10 minutes of posting and now my item has 0 views and 4 likes (from followers I assume).

TIPS & TRICKS PSA: the Vinted/eBay HMRC "30 sales" rule explained simply (I read all the GOV.UK pages so you don't have to)

Being over 30 sales or £1,700 means the platform *reports* you, but it isn't a tax. Selling your own old stuff generally isn't taxable. You only need to look closer if you buy or make things to resell **and** your gross sales (before costs) top £1,000 in a tax year (6 Apr–5 Apr, not Jan–Dec). If so, register for Self Assessment by 5 Oct after the year ends. Keep receipts for stock, fees and postage. Happy to answer questions. (Not tax advice; check gov.uk/guidance/selling-goods-or-services-on-a-digital-platform)

SELLING Advice: Buyer claims damaged in shipping, I don't believe them

Thumbnail

Hey y'all,

This is my first Vinted selling experience, and it turned out horrible. I now know I should have videod the packing process, and asked the buyer to video them opening, my bad.

I sold this 200 euro pokemon card (at the time, already dropped in value). When it arrives, buyer claims it slid out of the toploader and got bent (see pictures 1 and 2).

As you can see, the buyer claims that the card has a fold at the bottom. However, the toploader that the card was in only has one exit: on the top. And the top part of the card was closest to the opening (see the other pictures, as well as how I packed it). So if a fold were to have occurred due to poor shipping, it should have been at the top of the card, not the bottom.

I sent all of this with even more explanation over the course of a week to Vinted Support, everytime they prompt me, but I am honestly not sure whether they even looked at it. Since all messages from them seem pre-made and didn't really go into detail, and it got buried under more recent resent pictures and stuff. So now I got the message that the order got cancelled :(. I don't even know what packing guidelines I really crossed but oh well.

My question is two-fold: any pokemon-people out there that can tell whether I am on correct or wrong on how it could be folded like that at the bottom?
And are there any steps I could take (either towards Vinted or the buyer) to still get my money somehow? Like e-mailing or calling vinted directly to complain?

SHIPPING Is it possible a seller shipped and tracking never updated, or is she lying?

I bought an item I really want on October 18. The seller said she was going to ship the next day. Two days later, it still said “payment successful.” Then, the last couple of days it says “shipping label create by seller.” I messaged the seller to ask about this item and she is saying it was shipped on the 19th and tracking just didn’t update. I’m having trouble believing this was shipped at all. Has anyone had this happen before? Is it possible the seller is telling the truth, or is she definitely lying?

VENT I got permanent banned

I got banned for selling Arc’teryx stuff I don’t use anymore. Is it even worth to appeal? All post included product and photos on all specific things the guideline requested. Also invoices from Arc’teryx to show as proof. Still banned me…
