New Rule Implementation With Immediate Effect. Please Read!

NEW RULE!!

Due to an increase in some Reddit users apparently wanting to witch- hunt users on the Vinted platform, we will be implementing the following rule. Please read this post very carefully as it will also give a breakdown of consequences if you choose to break it.

NEW RULE - No sharing or requesting of user information with intent to harass.

As you are aware there is already a no sharing of personal information rule in place which most users adhere too. However we are seeing an increase in 'name & shame' comments with a view to users wanting to contact or harass users on the Vinted platform.

This is not acceptable.

We are a volunteer moderation team who do our best to keep the sub on an even keel. We strive to make it a wholesome community and both an enjoyable and informative place to be. We are not here to clean up the aftermath of reckless actions and malicious comments aimed at users on other platforms. It takes up a lot of our time dealing with complaints from affected parties.

For anyone in any doubt, please be aware that Reddit does not allow the sharing of any identifiable information of others on it's platform. It is also against the sub rules.

Future violations will be dealt with as such: Requesting user information on a 'name and shame' basis - Permanent ban and your account reported to Reddit. Sharing user information to encourage others to harass them - Permanent ban and your account reported to Reddit.

All posts are screened before going live, however we still deal with many instances of users not blurring out personal information. These are deleted with a standard warning. However, in future if a user receives a warning for this and repeats the action at another time you will receive a ban, length of which, will be at the mods discretion. The duration of the ban in this latter part will be based on whether we feel ill intent is meant or not.

We may also refuse posts where the selling description is visible and we feel it is in the best interests of the Vinted user to hide them.

The abhorrent behaviours we have seen recently need to stop. It will not be tolerated and will only result in your account being banned. This will not be a topic open for discussion as we have to implement this to safeguard users on other platforms and to follow Reddits rules.

Kind Regards

The Mod Team.

SELLING Guess this wasn’t the kind of photo he was after…

I’ve had requests like this a few times, you can always tell they’re dodgy from a mile off…
Asking for photos of lingerie is bad enough but no photo, no reviews, a blank account… Come on dude!
But just on the off chance it was genuine, I sent a photo from the official website showing exactly how it looks on…
Blocking me after is just chefs kiss 😗🤌🏻😆😆😆

Anyone else think vinted was the best thing since sliced bread when you first started using???

Everything going out the door so fast, running to the post office every few days to post off more things.

And then ……… crickets.

I’ve been looking into it and apparently it’s a new member marketing scheme where they absolutely advertise the shit out of your stuff at first to get you to keep coming back and then. Your items start getting very minimal views and favourites.

Totally annoyed by this! Was definitely too good to be true!

Anyone have any tips for getting quicker purchases or how to get your items seen more without bumping and paying extra all the time???

BUYING Seller threatening legal action if I collect the package they sent me after sale.

Hello everyone, looking for some advice.

Recently bought an item from a seller at what I consider was quite a bargain (3 euro). They sent it promptly, within 30 minutes of me buying. (And even sent me a very friendly message informing me that they did so)

Shortly after that, they listed a nearly identical item for a much higher price than what I paid for mine (25 euro).

Then the seller sent me a message saying they accidentally sent the wrong item and it was of very high value, and they insisted I leave the package uncollected so it can be returned to them. They continued to send repeated messages pleading with me to not collect it. Then they threatened legal action for product embezzlement if I collect the package they sent.

The seller also supposedly has contacted vinted and the shipping company, but according to the tracking it seems to be heading to my location. I dont know if they actually did contact vinted.

I decided to get in contact with vinted myself, asking for advice and and they basically told me to do what I like.

Would I actually be liable for anything? I am inclined to believe the seller just wants to just retrieve the item to relist at a higher price. If what arrives is something else than what I ordered I do plan on returning it through vinted's official means, but could I actually be held liable for simply picking up a package that was willingly sent to me?

This is such a bonkers situation and I would love to get some outside opinions. Thank you reddit.

Edit: I was 99% sure there was no chance in hell I would face any repercussions on this but I found it the situation so insanely bizarre that I just had to make sure I wasn't the crazy one. Like, "No way someone would act this crazy over losing a few bucks in a sale". Thanks again everyone for the comments!

BUYING Advice on returning order that was supposed to be cancelled

Hello,

I ordered a sewing pattern on vinted… realised it was too small, immediately ordered the correct size (same seller) and asked to cancel. Seller got back to me that night, which I never seen until the next morning, saying I need to request a cancellation which I did. Cancellation comes through unauthorised so I asked her why she had unauthorised it and she said her friend had the parcels and had sent them to me that morning, knowing that I was going to cancel the order. Now I have two patterns, different sizes, of costume Victorian dresses and the seller is telling me to just “sell them on, they sold quick” YEAH BECAUSE I BOUGHT THEM BOTH😂 am I able to send the items back…? Or do I have to take the hit because I never cancelled the order that night? It’s annoying because vinted tells you to message the seller first before cancelling, which I did, the seller says to just cancel it on vinteds end and then sends it anyway😔

SELLING Advice: Buyer claims damaged in shipping, I don't believe them

Hey y'all,

This is my first Vinted selling experience, and it turned out horrible. I now know I should have videod the packing process, and asked the buyer to video them opening, my bad.

I sold this 200 euro pokemon card (at the time, already dropped in value). When it arrives, buyer claims it slid out of the toploader and got bent (see pictures 1 and 2).

As you can see, the buyer claims that the card has a fold at the bottom. However, the toploader that the card was in only has one exit: on the top. And the top part of the card was closest to the opening (see the other pictures, as well as how I packed it). So if a fold were to have occurred due to poor shipping, it should have been at the top of the card, not the bottom.

I sent all of this with even more explanation over the course of a week to Vinted Support, everytime they prompt me, but I am honestly not sure whether they even looked at it. Since all messages from them seem pre-made and didn't really go into detail, and it got buried under more recent resent pictures and stuff. So now I got the message that the order got cancelled :(. I don't even know what packing guidelines I really crossed but oh well.

My question is two-fold: any pokemon-people out there that can tell whether I am on correct or wrong on how it could be folded like that at the bottom?
And are there any steps I could take (either towards Vinted or the buyer) to still get my money somehow? Like e-mailing or calling vinted directly to complain?

DISCUSSION Zero views

I have seen so many posts about this issue whether it’s here or TikTok or in general. What starts of as at least some views for some people is now to zero views with one/or more favourites. It’s actually so confusing and annoying because I have myself been posting there and recently, my views have gone to LITERALLY ZERO. I’ve changed my editing, description, taken nice pictures and prices as well but no luck.

Is there anything we could do together to improve this issue or get to Vinted support?

TIPS & TRICKS PSA: the Vinted/eBay HMRC "30 sales" rule explained simply (I read all the GOV.UK pages so you don't have to)

Being over 30 sales or £1,700 means the platform *reports* you, but it isn't a tax. Selling your own old stuff generally isn't taxable. You only need to look closer if you buy or make things to resell **and** your gross sales (before costs) top £1,000 in a tax year (6 Apr–5 Apr, not Jan–Dec). If so, register for Self Assessment by 5 Oct after the year ends. Keep receipts for stock, fees and postage. Happy to answer questions. (Not tax advice; check gov.uk/guidance/selling-goods-or-services-on-a-digital-platform)

SHIPPING USPS & Pro Carrier Conflict

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I live in the US and ordered a package from the UK. It was sent through Pro Carrier. The Tracking on Pro Carrier says it was handed off to USPS, but the tracking on USPS says it has not been received.

I called USPS and they said they have not received the item. They said what they think happened is that the package was missed during acceptance scans and therefore is stuck in a Pro Carrier warehouse in the US. USPS told me to contact Pro Carrier and push them to search for the box, label it, and send it to USPS.

Upon emailing Pro Carrier, I was told that because the package was sent through Vinted, they don't have the authority to do anything. I then messaged Vinted. I was told to wait until after the 25 day mark had passed to file a complaint. I very specifically told Vinted staff that I did not want a refund, and wanted to work on finding the package, including the information about what USPS said should be done. After the 25 day mark, Vinted staff promptly and rudely issued me a refund with no option to refuse, then told me that they could not help me locate the package because the transaction was cancelled.

I emailed Pro Carrier again to ask for more details about what they meant by that Vinted "oversees the orders & claims process", and ask if there was any chance the parcel will still be able to reach USPS if it is currently in Pro Carriers possession (like, do they check for packages that have been missed even if they weren't prompted by a customer). I got no reply! It's been four days.

Needless to say, I am very frustrated. Does anyone have any possible advice for what I could do to potentially solve this issue? I am aware it is very possible this package is gone for good, and would like to be clear that I am not looking for any condescending messages that insult me for continuing to try despite the odds looking so bad. I have submitted a USPS search request already.

*edit: forgot to add the photo with Vinted's response to me saying I didn't want a refund, so here it is: "I understand you didn’t want a refund — you wanted help getting the parcel located and moving again, especially since USPS believes it may still be with Pro Carrier. At this point, the transaction has already been cancelled and the refund for 15.88 USD has been issued. Once an order is cancelled and refunded, we’re not able to reopen the transaction or continue the delivery/search process through Vinted shipping."

SHIPPING Vinted falsy claims my computer has been delivered back to me.

Hi!

I sold an gaming computer on Vinted for about 1000 euros. The buyer did not collect the computer and it was supposed to be delireved back to me. I have not received the computer back, but the buyer got their money back. Vinted insist that they have received information from some delivery company that it would have been delivered. I have not heard from any delivery company anything regarding the delivery back to me. I have reached out to original delivery company and they have told me after 14 days the parcel will automaticly be confirmed as delivered regardless of where the parcel actually is.

What should I do. Vinted customer service has been of no help and they keep giving template responses. Has anybody dealt with an issue like this before?

SHIPPING What is the point?

I tried to buy 2 tops from a seller who decided they couldn't be bothered to send it and let the order bounce back.

After looking at their reviews they have 20 plus sales that they never sent out. Am I missing something? It just seems really pointless and a great way to tank their ratings.

DISCUSSION Does Vinted not like you sending links in messages?

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I’m selling a pair of BNWB kids school shoes and I’ve been getting questions about are they waterproof, what are they made of etc and as they are still for sale I’ve been sending a link to a store.

I did this last night in the middle of asking / answering quite a few other chats as I’ve just listed a load of stuff and I got the message about being reviewed, and then the all clear about five minutes later. So I thought maybe it was because I was usually active.

But then I got the same messages this morning after sending the link. Is this a normal thing for Vinted to automatically do if they detect an external link in your messages?

I’m going to add some more details to the listing to hopefully stop questions that can easily be answered but I was curious. And will stop sending links if that’s the case 😂

I saw a listing for enamel pins, I wanted to check the description because first line is "DO NOT PURCHASE" which brought my attention to it.

I don't get what the point is 😕

Edit: After reporting, Vinted took down the listing!

VENT Can we talk about the giant ASDA bunny listings? They’re EVERYWHERE and it’s getting out of hand

Post image
1 Upvotes

Is it just me, or has Vinted turned into 400 listings of the same bunny at £250+?

I searched for it today and it’s wall to wall. The thing is about £14 in ASDA, yet every other listing is at £200, £300, even £324 once the fee’s added. Nobody’s paying that. It’s just clogging up search so you can’t find anything normal.

And now there’s a second wave of people posting joke listings with “DONT buy!!” in the description. I get the protest, but that’s more spam in the same search results, and half of them are still priced at £300.

Some of it is plain greed. Grabbing stock the second it hits shelves, then listing at 20x the price for kids and parents who just want the toy. Vinted obviously doesn’t care, because they take their cut either way.

Honestly, if you want one, wait for a restock or check ASDA’s site and shop apps. Don’t pay these prices, or they’ll keep doing it.

Is anyone else sick of seeing these? Has anyone actually seen one sell at that price?

I feel like I’m seeing SO MANY ai listings!!! I don’t understand how this is allowed and why you’d even want to do it! Like I don’t need to see an ai person wearing your now ai edited products. Just post a picture of your item. It feels so dishonest to me, but maybe I’m dramatic.
