Show Spoiler Shane Walsh is one of the most overrated characters in TWD and people don't hate him enough
Shane is my least favorite part of Seasons 1 and 2, and I don't understand why so many fans act like he was some misunderstood genius who was simply "ahead of his time."
I don't care if Shane supposedly adapted to the apocalypse faster than everyone else. The man was a whiny, entitled crybaby who threw a tantrum practically every time something didn't go his way. Almost every scene with him involved yelling, arguing, threatening someone or throwing a fit because Rick wasn't doing what he wanted.
And the whole "Shane was right" argument gets old when you remember how much of his behavior was driven by jealousy, insecurity and his obsession with Lori. He wasn't some brilliant survivalist. He was an emotionally unstable man who couldn't handle losing control of a group or accept that his best friend's wife didn't want him anymore.
What annoys me most is how fans criticize Lori for her mistakes but somehow excuse Shane's behavior because he understood how brutal the new world was. Understanding the apocalypse doesn't automatically make you a good leader.
And yes, I know that means Jon Bernthal did his job right if I hate Shane this much, and I think he gave a great performance. But I just don't like Shane as a character at all, and not even in the way you're supposed to enjoy a good antagonist. I don't find him entertaining to hate. I just find him exhausting to watch, especially on rewatches.
Shane wasn't ahead of his time. He was a crybaby, and I'm glad Rick finally put an end to his nonsense.

Show Spoiler Are there people who genuinely like Negan?
Genuine question. I'm on Season 7 Episode 16 now for the first time.
I get it's different to like a character as a person and as a character. But I don't like Negan as either tbh.
He's cringey af and the only thing that makes him "scary" is his violent cruel tendencies. As proven by his 'wives' and what he did to Spencer.
He's a rapist, which immediately makes me personally despise him.
Now, I'm not shitting on people who like him. I really want to know why you do. Did you like him back in season 7 as well?
Is it because he's edgy? Honestly?
He's interesting only in the psychological sense but even then there's many characters who are much more interesting in that regard.
So please, enlighten me. I'm not gonna argue with you over liking him or anyone else. That's always subjective

Show Spoiler What’s a plot point that you genuinely can’t head-canon into making sense? NSFW
For me, it was the fact Rick couldn’t find Lori’s body, and they want us to believe she was somehow consumed entirely, bones and everything; I just can’t even find an in-universe explanation for it making sense.
My best in-universe head-canon: she wasn’t shot in the head properly, reanimated, and just walked out of there as a walker.

Show Spoiler Watching TWD for the first time and this death is making me not want to watch the show anymore 😭 (I’m soft…)
Spoilers for a season 4 death that happened forever ago but it’s new to me: Hershel….
HERSHELLLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭
It’s so silly because I actually knew about this death going into the show, I just didn’t know when and how!! Genuinely— HOW DO PEOPLE GET THROUGH THIS SHOW?? Y’all are stronger than me. Hershel’s death broke my heart. (I probably will still watch the show… but as a bitter woman…)
And oh my god, the Governor not only killing him, but making sure he finished the job by going out of his way to chop his head off… Beyond brutal. In my opinion, Michonne let the Governor off way too easy, the Governor deserved to die the exact way Hershel did. Don’t get me started about Michonne having to put Hershel down as a walker… If there weren’t tears in my eyes already, good lord.
When I know a character will die in a series I typically try my best not to get attached to them, but I couldn’t help it with Hershel. All honesty, he reminds me strongly of my recently late grandfather which is why it sickened me as much as it did. This isn’t a critique on the show per se— I know why they did it. He’s the morality of the group, he keeps them grounded— and they’re trying to shake things up. You can know why it’s written that way and still wish they killed literally any other character. Sometimes I find myself thinking “Can this show let me have ANYTHING??” Rick really shouldn’t have given that whole speech and just agreed to leave… but honestly knowing the governor he would have killed Hershel and/or Michonne anyways.
What I will criticize is the Governor living as long as he did. The guy from Woodberry finding the Governor in the walker pit and NOT killing him made no sense. He KNOWS the governor is a psychopath. Yes he was with a group of ladies and a child, but you could kill him and just explain the situation to them. Idiot move. Though I have to give the actor for the Governor his flowers, he was born to play that role and was almost too good. Rest in peace Hershel, you were the best, and Governor burn in hell.
I’ve stayed away from everything walking dead related in my power so I don’t know many fan opinions— but is Hershel a controversial death or a fan favorite like he is for me? I live in Georgia and of course everyone has watched TWD here, and everyone I talk to never mentions Hershel as a favorite, but he was easily in my top 3.

Show Spoiler Randall's execution
Was Randall an actual threat to the group on Hershel's farm,or was he just some kid who couldn't shut up to save his life. Like was there an actual risk of him finding his group and bringing them to the farm.

Show Spoiler First time watcher and this show is already brilliant... but...
Like the title says this is my first time watching the show, and having it be the walking dead - one so old and culturally significant - I would say the amount of spoilers I have are a little less than the average joe. I am up to season 2 episode 4, and I know the bigger deaths and a few notable scenes from quite the way into the series, but just not when they happen. That being said, the spoilers have not been the part of the show that I am hung up on.
What is really annoying me is just how predictable some events are. Amy's death was sealed the moment Andrea began to talk about wrapping her gift in season 1, carl was shot the moment he started playing eyetag with the deer, merle is 100% alive, ts-19 was obviously the doctor's wife, and jumpscares are way too prosaic in their build-up to name a few off the top of my head. That being said i'm going to make some predictions for you veterans' entertainment; I hope i get these hilariously wrong for my own.
Andrea is not going to kill herself, if anything she will kill a survivor (my bet is merle when he finds the group which could muddy the blossoming daryl frienship)
Shane or Lori are dead by the end of season 2 (maybe both). Shane is still in love with her and I can't imagine this dynamic keeps up for the rest of the show. I think realistically if Lori dies she becomes a walker and we get a mirrored scene from the first episode where the guy who takes in Rick shoots his wife. I would rather it be more tragic and unexpected.
Carol's daughter's fate is left ambiguous until a later season. I think this will catapult Carol's development into a badass survivalist who is staying alive just to find out what happened to her because right now she is literally just dead weight.
I think Dale commits suicide because he can't handle the guilt of prohibiting his surrogate daughter's death. I beg this does not happen though because that man is my favourite character.

Show Spoiler What If Morales joined Woodbury instead of The Saviors
galleryWhat if instead of Morales showing up way later in Season 8, what if he became a general or something for Woodbury? Imagine what his dynamic would be like with Merle, maybe at the start of the show Morales seems like the nicer person and Merle was the ahole, but in season 3 Morales ends up corrupted by Gov after his family died and fights against the old prison group while Merle ends up siding with the Prison. I personally think he would be killed by Merle at the feed store in a 1v1 if this were the case in the show, and then Gov finishes Merle off after Morales is killed, but what do you guys think about this what if and how you think it would go?

Show Spoiler S2E4 Did anyone else catch that Shane actually explained exactly why he is the way he is post apocalypse?
“Turn off your switch. The switch. The one that makes you scared or angry, sympathetic, whatever. You don’t think, you just act. ‘Cause odds are somebody else is counting on you. That’s your partner. That’s your friend. There ain’t nothing easy about taking a man’s life no matter how little value it may have. But when you get it done, you have to forget it.”
It explains a lot of his impulsive decision making. Killing Otis, opening the barn, getting rid of Randall. Not so much his obsession with Lori, or his attempted assault on her. But I think here, he explained why it was so easy for him to do what everyone else would typically grapple with.

Show Spoiler Maggie is a bad leader
I'm not hating on maggie's character but idk why other characters always force us to acknowledge maggie as a good leader she's a really bad leader/terrible imo
First of all she let that kid die in the subway for no reason you might think it was for safety but literally 5 mins after he died they still had to open that door and ik he ditched them but you can't let someone die for such a small thing
Secondly she hanged gregory ik he tried to kill her but executing in front of everyone to instill fear doesn't make her better than negan
Thirdly she abandoned hilltop in s9
4) she decided to fight reapers over some crops killing so many of her people just to get revenge
5)she decided to live in a brick factory over alexandria
I really liked and respected her character till so and I even understood why she conspired against rick but I really feel like she became really annoying after that and always acted selfish we could also see glimpses of her selfishness when she was executing gregory and decided to cut ties with alexandria in s11 like it's the place which helped you become a leader and you decide to betray them all

Show Spoiler Why did Jessie forget she is the parent? Spoiler
Season 6, episode 9.
Why did Jessie let Sam stay with them instead of going with Gabrial? In the end, letting her 10 year old son, who clearing was freaking out, continue to walk with them caused the demise of the entire family. If he went with Gabrial, Sam would have lived and not caused the panic that got himself and his mom killed, and his brother wouldn't have chosen that moment to decide to try to kill Rick. She is the mom. She has final say and was persuaded by a terrified child.
Edit:
Yes, he could have freaked out with Gabrial but the church was close and it was still light out. Yeah, he could have freaked out then but the time of exposure to the walkers would be less, decreasing the risk of his anxiety raising the way it did.
Blatant misogynistic comments are not welcome.

Fun Post Long Lonely Road
youtube.comThis song makes me think of TWD. In a fantasy world if I directed an episode, I would definitely include this song. Try to bring the tone back to the earlier seasons. It makes me think of Daryl, Carol, Michonne, and Rick.
"One person's path unpaid
Went towards the path that saved
These are the songs you sing
In the search for the grass that's green
It's been a long, been a long, long, long, lonely road" -Valerie June

Fun Post The Walking Dead s9 ep5 Spoiler
In the episode titled “What Comes After” (s9 ep5) Rick gets thrown off his horse and impaled by the rebar. He passes out and this scene appears where Rick is standing over his s1 ep1 coma body saying “wake up”.
I feel like this is one of the biggest missed opportunities in the series. Imagine if it was Shane taunting him or pushing him to get up and keep fighting saying “Lori and Carl need you” and he pauses for a second, because Carl is dead now, Shane could keep taunting him saying “I was the better man, the better father and he would’ve still been alive hadn’t you shown up” and then Rick opens his eyes and then wakes up in real life. I feel like that could’ve been a cool alternative scene
