Show Spoiler S02E11 Everyone is pissing me off

Everyone pretty much voting for killing the kid they rescued while they made killing the walkers in the barn seem like a harder philosophical decision. It was pretty much only Dale and then Andrea opposing to it. And they were right. Yes it’s the end of the world but if you can so easily give away your humanity what the fuck are you even fighting for? What life? There is no civilisation left anyway.

Lori decided to keep the pregnancy while she can’t control her already born kid who’s becoming numb/sociopathic and he had a smear of a childhood. The new kid won’t even have that so is likely to become even more fucked up.

I don’t know man these people I can’t relate to them, I don’t know if that’s the point.

Show Spoiler Shane Walsh is one of the most overrated characters in TWD and people don't hate him enough

Shane is my least favorite part of Seasons 1 and 2, and I don't understand why so many fans act like he was some misunderstood genius who was simply "ahead of his time."

I don't care if Shane supposedly adapted to the apocalypse faster than everyone else. The man was a whiny, entitled crybaby who threw a tantrum practically every time something didn't go his way. Almost every scene with him involved yelling, arguing, threatening someone or throwing a fit because Rick wasn't doing what he wanted.

And the whole "Shane was right" argument gets old when you remember how much of his behavior was driven by jealousy, insecurity and his obsession with Lori. He wasn't some brilliant survivalist. He was an emotionally unstable man who couldn't handle losing control of a group or accept that his best friend's wife didn't want him anymore.

What annoys me most is how fans criticize Lori for her mistakes but somehow excuse Shane's behavior because he understood how brutal the new world was. Understanding the apocalypse doesn't automatically make you a good leader.

And yes, I know that means Jon Bernthal did his job right if I hate Shane this much, and I think he gave a great performance. But I just don't like Shane as a character at all, and not even in the way you're supposed to enjoy a good antagonist. I don't find him entertaining to hate. I just find him exhausting to watch, especially on rewatches.

Shane wasn't ahead of his time. He was a crybaby, and I'm glad Rick finally put an end to his nonsense.

Show Spoiler Why did Jessie forget she is the parent? Spoiler

Season 6, episode 9.

Why did Jessie let Sam stay with them instead of going with Gabrial? In the end, letting her 10 year old son, who clearing was freaking out, continue to walk with them caused the demise of the entire family. If he went with Gabrial, Sam would have lived and not caused the panic that got himself and his mom killed, and his brother wouldn't have chosen that moment to decide to try to kill Rick. She is the mom. She has final say and was persuaded by a terrified child.

Edit:

Yes, he could have freaked out with Gabrial but the church was close and it was still light out. Yeah, he could have freaked out then but the time of exposure to the walkers would be less, decreasing the risk of his anxiety raising the way it did.

Blatant misogynistic comments are not welcome.

TWD: The Ones Who Live The Ones Who Live (spoilers) Spoiler

Primary question: does this get better?

I finally sat down to start watching the ones who live. Ready to get back into Rick and Michonne's story, and see how they find their way back to each other.

I was expecting... Well I don't know what I was expecting, but it was definitely something different than this.

episode 1 introduces new characters with Rick, who are all immediately killed, and Rick and Michonne are reunited.

Episode 2 we see Michonne's perspective where they introduce a bunch of new characters, who are all immediately killed, and Rick and Michonne are reunited.

The reunion lacked any emotional impact whatsoever because it was so entirely unearned. It was basically " I'm looking for you... Oh there you are".

I've just watched the two episodes so far and I'm ready to quit because it is so unbearably lazy. And bonus...Jadis s back! And she has an entirely new personality again, it's her fourth so far.

What's the overall consensus on this show is it worth watching at all?

TWD: Daryl Dixon Daryl Dixon crossbow he used in season 3-5 and 8

I have one of the Stryker strike zone 380 in full optifade camo! The exact same one he used In the show (not the one used in filming it’s the same product). The camo and crossbow is not even made anymore so it’s rare. It’s sick, although sadly I’m getting rid of it. Dm me any questions if u want it! I’ll upload a photo in replies.

Fun Post The Walking Dead s9 ep5 Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

In the episode titled “What Comes After” (s9 ep5) Rick gets thrown off his horse and impaled by the rebar. He passes out and this scene appears where Rick is standing over his s1 ep1 coma body saying “wake up”.

I feel like this is one of the biggest missed opportunities in the series. Imagine if it was Shane taunting him or pushing him to get up and keep fighting saying “Lori and Carl need you” and he pauses for a second, because Carl is dead now, Shane could keep taunting him saying “I was the better man, the better father and he would’ve still been alive hadn’t you shown up” and then Rick opens his eyes and then wakes up in real life. I feel like that could’ve been a cool alternative scene

No Spoiler Is it worth it to finish the series?

I was an absolute fan of the show and watched it in real time from the start to the point where Glenn’s (RIP) girl had taken over the colony and Rick had finally made it back (post Neagan, etc.). - Sorry I’m not remembering her character name, it’s been THAT long.

It has been years now since I’ve watched an episode and I don’t think I have it in me to be disappointed with another iconic show I once loved having a not so great ending (e.g. Lost). Please advise whether you think I should continue where I left off and close this chapter of my TV binging.

Also, if you are in favor of me continuing, please do provide the approximate season and even episode where I ended if you have any idea. I appreciate it.

EDIT: I did watch Fear of the Walking Dead as well and got pretty far but I can’t quite remember where I left off there. Maybe something about a yacht 😬🫣

Show Spoiler Are there people who genuinely like Negan?

Genuine question. I'm on Season 7 Episode 16 now for the first time.

I get it's different to like a character as a person and as a character. But I don't like Negan as either tbh.

He's cringey af and the only thing that makes him "scary" is his violent cruel tendencies. As proven by his 'wives' and what he did to Spencer.

He's a rapist, which immediately makes me personally despise him.

Now, I'm not shitting on people who like him. I really want to know why you do. Did you like him back in season 7 as well?

Is it because he's edgy? Honestly?

He's interesting only in the psychological sense but even then there's many characters who are much more interesting in that regard.

So please, enlighten me. I'm not gonna argue with you over liking him or anyone else. That's always subjective

Show Spoiler Maggie is a bad leader

I'm not hating on maggie's character but idk why other characters always force us to acknowledge maggie as a good leader she's a really bad leader/terrible imo

First of all she let that kid die in the subway for no reason you might think it was for safety but literally 5 mins after he died they still had to open that door and ik he ditched them but you can't let someone die for such a small thing

Secondly she hanged gregory ik he tried to kill her but executing in front of everyone to instill fear doesn't make her better than negan

Thirdly she abandoned hilltop in s9

4) she decided to fight reapers over some crops killing so many of her people just to get revenge

5)she decided to live in a brick factory over alexandria

I really liked and respected her character till so and I even understood why she conspired against rick but I really feel like she became really annoying after that and always acted selfish we could also see glimpses of her selfishness when she was executing gregory and decided to cut ties with alexandria in s11 like it's the place which helped you become a leader and you decide to betray them all

Show Spoiler Inconsistency is driving me away again

Since my youtube algorithm was bombarding me with TWD content, I decided to pick the show up again after years. I originally stopped watching right after the introduction of Negan, because quite frankly I was bored by the show. Currently I'm at S8e6 and I just couldn't shake my annoyance.

The way this show handles stakes is just plain immersion breaking at times. Sometimes the characters reap through groups of walkers no problem. Other times they struggle with a single fucker who has been falling apart for years.

Just this episode when Carl was in the woods with Siddiq and they decided to attack three walkers eating a deer, Carl manages to simply forget about his knife and instead shoves a single walker around for ages until he falls and decides to, you guessed it, shove him some more until a second one arrives. Que the ongoing shoving... Until he shoots them. Like wtf, boy? You've been at it for a few years now. Are you trying to have a drunken bar banter or do you want to kill?

In another scene of that same episode Michonne and Rosita are in that warehouse where two saviors are standing completely unguarded. But instead of simply shooting them while they are unaware, Michonne feels the need to try a convoluted flanking maneuver and blows her cover. Following that, Rosita gets up and becones the target for both saviors. Rosita runs for cover and loses her gun (why are you guys always losing your weapons??). Meanwhile Michonne stands around in cover instead of shooting the two while Rosita is drawing their fire. What was your flanking for, if not for shooting?

The lack of spacial awareness and any actions at all sometimes paired with pure stupidity while other times the characters seem superhuman is so off putting.

Just needed to rant.

Show Spoiler Underrated Scene Imo

I have always really loved this scene between Amy and Andrea. I found the way they talked about their grief to be really bittersweet but very realistic. Sometimes all you can do is reminisce about good times and try to make a joke so you don't cry.

I also like how the differences of how their father raised them made them understand each other better. Even though i've probably watched the first seasons a million times, I always get nervous that the convo will turn into an argument because of that topic, but instead it made them a bit closer.

I always wonder what would have happened if Andrea had died instead of Amy. From the small scenes we had of her, Amy seemed incredibly sweet. In the scene where Ed hits Carol, she immediately goes to comfort her. She also seems to try and de-escalate some of the other nonsense going on. It might have been interesting to see the older "stronger" sister pass on so we could see the younger "naive" sister learn to survive and thrive. I'm curious to see how Amy would have adapted and changed.

Show Spoiler Watching TWD for the first time and this death is making me not want to watch the show anymore 😭 (I’m soft…)

• Upvotes

Spoilers for a season 4 death that happened forever ago but it’s new to me: Hershel….

HERSHELLLLLLLL NOOOOOOOOOOOOO 😭😭😭

It’s so silly because I actually knew about this death going into the show, I just didn’t know when and how!! Genuinely— HOW DO PEOPLE GET THROUGH THIS SHOW?? Y’all are stronger than me. Hershel’s death broke my heart. (I probably will still watch the show… but as a bitter woman…)

And oh my god, the Governor not only killing him, but making sure he finished the job by going out of his way to chop his head off… Beyond brutal. In my opinion, Michonne let the Governor off way too easy, the Governor deserved to die the exact way Hershel did. Don’t get me started about Michonne having to put Hershel down as a walker… If there weren’t tears in my eyes already, good lord.

When I know a character will die in a series I typically try my best not to get attached to them, but I couldn’t help it with Hershel. All honesty, he reminds me strongly of my recently late grandfather which is why it sickened me as much as it did. This isn’t a critique on the show per se— I know why they did it. He’s the morality of the group, he keeps them grounded— and they’re trying to shake things up. You can know why it’s written that way and still wish they killed literally any other character. Sometimes I find myself thinking “Can this show let me have ANYTHING??” Rick really shouldn’t have given that whole speech and just agreed to leave… but honestly knowing the governor he would have killed Hershel and/or Michonne anyways.

What I will criticize is the Governor living as long as he did. The guy from Woodberry finding the Governor in the walker pit and NOT killing him made no sense. He KNOWS the governor is a psychopath. Yes he was with a group of ladies and a child, but you could kill him and just explain the situation to them. Idiot move. Though I have to give the actor for the Governor his flowers, he was born to play that role and was almost too good. Rest in peace Hershel, you were the best, and Governor burn in hell.

I’ve stayed away from everything walking dead related in my power so I don’t know many fan opinions— but is Hershel a controversial death or a fan favorite like he is for me? I live in Georgia and of course everyone has watched TWD here, and everyone I talk to never mentions Hershel as a favorite, but he was easily in my top 3.

Was Randall an actual threat to the group on Hershel's farm,or was he just some kid who couldn't shut up to save his life. Like was there an actual risk of him finding his group and bringing them to the farm.

Show Spoiler First time watcher and this show is already brilliant... but...

Like the title says this is my first time watching the show, and having it be the walking dead - one so old and culturally significant - I would say the amount of spoilers I have are a little less than the average joe. I am up to season 2 episode 4, and I know the bigger deaths and a few notable scenes from quite the way into the series, but just not when they happen. That being said, the spoilers have not been the part of the show that I am hung up on.

What is really annoying me is just how predictable some events are. Amy's death was sealed the moment Andrea began to talk about wrapping her gift in season 1, carl was shot the moment he started playing eyetag with the deer, merle is 100% alive, ts-19 was obviously the doctor's wife, and jumpscares are way too prosaic in their build-up to name a few off the top of my head. That being said i'm going to make some predictions for you veterans' entertainment; I hope i get these hilariously wrong for my own.

Andrea is not going to kill herself, if anything she will kill a survivor (my bet is merle when he finds the group which could muddy the blossoming daryl frienship)

Shane or Lori are dead by the end of season 2 (maybe both). Shane is still in love with her and I can't imagine this dynamic keeps up for the rest of the show. I think realistically if Lori dies she becomes a walker and we get a mirrored scene from the first episode where the guy who takes in Rick shoots his wife. I would rather it be more tragic and unexpected.

Carol's daughter's fate is left ambiguous until a later season. I think this will catapult Carol's development into a badass survivalist who is staying alive just to find out what happened to her because right now she is literally just dead weight.

I think Dale commits suicide because he can't handle the guilt of prohibiting his surrogate daughter's death. I beg this does not happen though because that man is my favourite character.

Show Spoiler I'm on S2E1, and that highway scene is testing my patience. Does it get better?

I'm currently on Season 2, Episode 1, and that scene on the highway genuinely annoyed me.

When they saw the walkers coming, why did they need to hide underneath the cars? Wouldn't it have made more sense to get away from the road, wait for the walkers to pass, and then come back for the RV? The way they handled that situation felt so unnecessarily stupid.

I'm trying to enjoy the show, but moments like this make me question whether the writing actually improves or if characters keep making questionable decisions just to create tension.

I've heard so many great things about The Walking Dead, so I want to give it a fair chance. But I don't want to watch several seasons of characters repeatedly making the same kinds of mistakes.

Without spoilers, does the writing get better from here, or should I expect more of this throughout the show? Is it worth sticking with it?
